Define the class at runtime?

Hi,
is it possible to do something like the following:
    public function readGenericClassEntity(myClass:Class,ac:ArrayCollection):void{
        var entity:myClass=myClass(ac.getItemAt(dataGrid.selectedIndex));
The part "entity:myClass" gives a compiler error:
     Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: myClass.
So is it possible to define the class at runtime?
Thanks for any pointers!
Martin Zach

Hi Jason,
thank you for your answer, one possible solution.
I used the solution from:
http://thillerson.wordpress.com/2007/03/01/runtime-class-instantiation-in-actionscript-30/ #comment-951
Thank worked fine for me!
Cheers!

    For those who would have the same problem, here is how I could eventually fix it.
    Since the Flex Test Drive is sometimes out of sync with flash builder 4, I recreated a project using other help pages on Adobe site :
    Entry point :
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Flex/4.0/AccessingData/WSbde04e3d3e6474c4-668f02f4120d422cf08- 7ffd.html
    As suggested, I used the New Project wizard to create a new project, with :
    Application server type : J2EE
    Check the radio button "Use remote object access service : BlazeDS"
    Then, as indicated in following pages (section "Accessing BlazeDS")... :
    file:///C:/Mes%20documents%20C/Commun/Developpement/Documentation/HT-Tracks/AccessingData/ help.adobe.com/en_US/Flex/4.0/AccessingData/WSbde04e3d3e6474c4-668f02f4120d422cf08-7ffe.ht ml#WSbde04e3d3e6474c4-19a3f0e0122be55e1b7-8000
    ...I selected the "Data / Connect to Data/Services..." menu option, which started the Data/service connection wizard.
    There, I selected a BlazeDS (and not Web Services) service type, and everything went fine.
    Suggestion to adobe staff : maybe it would be useful to update the Flex Test Drive to reflect Flash Builder 4 ?
    Very nice product anyway, so far, congratulations...
    Rgds
    Marc.

  • Report template : where are defined the class

    Hello,
    I'm looking where the class are defined, such used in "before rows"
    <td><table cellpadding="0" border="0" cellspacing="0" summary="" class="t1standard">
    I'd like to add by owns or to modify existing one.

    Hello,
    It's in the css file if you open up the page template there should be something like.
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="#IMAGE_PREFIX#carl/theme_1/theme_V2.css" type="text/css" />
    and thats the css file that is being used by your pages. Either edit that file (discouraged) add another file right after it it that overrides the classes you want to change or just change it inline in the page header or the template.
    Take a look at this http://www.brainjar.com/css/using/

  • How to get fully qualified name for a class with just the class name

    I want to get the fully qualified name of the class at runtime. The only piece of information which I have is the class name.
    I want to create a runtime instance of a class with the class name [Just the class name].
    Is there is any way to achieve this using ClassLoader?
    Could anyone suggest me an idea?
    Cheers,
    Vinn.

    Nope. If you are given "List", will you decide that means "java.util.List" or "java.awt.List"? Of course you could prompt the user to make the decision for you, I suppose. But using a class loader isn't going to make the task any easier.

  • Why class defination and class implementaion separated in abap?

    hai experts,
                           i hav doubt why  class defination and class implementaion separated in abap. In know in  C++  its  possible
            but in JAVA its not possible . what is the main reson behind this concept in ABAP.
    thanks in adv.

    Hi Sree,
    As far as I feel, it's been done with a view of readability. As you know that ABAP  is very well modularized and organized programing language. When you define a local ABAP  Class, you define two seperate sections of it. You define the Class Definition and then you define the Implementations. This way you can really have a look at all the class definitions which are organized in the same section. Then you can have a look at the selected implementation.
    But if this hasn't been the scenario, then as developer looking at the complex classes would have made life hell for you. You can very well figure it out how good to keep things organized for later class maintainance and readability.
    Hope this would shed some light on your question.
    Thanks,
    Samantak.

  • Help with Defining a Class

    I wrote a program that reads files and parses the contents. This information is stored in a vector and then this vector is stored in another vector.
    This is a simplified version of the code.
    Vector Row = new Vector();
    Vector Field = new Vector();
    Field.addElement("Date");
    Field.addElement("Title");
    Field.addElement("Version");
    Row.addElement(Field);How can I do this by defining a class? I don't have to use a Vector for the Field information. ArrayList will do the job. I want to be able to store the information that I parse from the fill using something like:
    myDocument Fields = new myDocument;
    Fields.addDate("Date");
    Fields.addTitle("Title");
    etc...
    Row.addElement(Fields);All the information parsed out is a String. When I used the .addDate, it should convert the String into a Date.
    .addVersion would convert the String to an integer.
    This class stuff sure is confusing.
    I think I need to do something like:
    class myDocument extends ArrayList {
         Date myDate;
         String myTitle;
         int myVersion;
    public myDocument() {
    /code

    That does help. I wasn't sure if I was on the right track with how to define the class. I added some comments to the code below. Do my comments make sense? Do I understand the terminology and flow of this class?
    So my class would look like this:
    class myDocument extends HashMap{
         Date myDate;  //these are called class variables???
         String myTitle;
         int myVersion;
    public addDate(String dateString) {
          SimpleDateFormat dtFormat = new SimpleDateFormat("MM/dd/yyyy");
          myDate = dtFormat.parse(dateString);
          this.put("Data", myDate);
    public addTitle(String titleString) {
          myTitle = titleString;  //Don't think I need this. Can just this.put("Title", titleString);???
          this.put("Title", myTitle);
    public addVersion(String versionString) {
          int myVersion = Integer.parseInt(versionString);
          this.put("Version", myVersion);
    public myDocument() { //constructor???  Do nothing in here because I am creating a simple HashMap???
    }The program would call the class like this:???
    Vector Row = new Vector();
    myDocument Field = new myDocument(); //This creates a Field object that really is a HashMap with some new methods???
    Field.addDate(parsedString);// Calls the .addDate method in the myDocument class;  In the method, this.put would be the same as Field.put if Field was a HashMap not a myDocument???
    Field.addVersion(parsedString);
    Row.addElement(Field); // Store the new class in a Vector called Row

    can any one let me know how to define and path in IMG.
    Thanks in advance.
    kumar reddy.

    In my opinion, you don't have any such std table/view to update ABC Classification field. You might need to update relevant infostructure based on your requirement, such as sales, invoiced, etc..
    Try with following, based on your requirement:
    MC(A
    SIS: Customer,Inc.Orders - Selection
    MC+A
    SIS: Customer Returns, Selection
    MC+E
    SIS: Customer, Sales - Selection
    MC+I
    SIS: Customer Credit Memos - Selec.

  • Defining a Private Constructor in private section of the class?

    In the exercises of ABAP OOPs book, I have the found following question.
    Q. A private instance constructor (instantiation only by the class itself) can be defined in the private section.
    True or False
    The answer provided in the book is "True". But actually, its not possible to define a constructor in a private or protected section, regardless of the constructor visibility.
    Can anyone help me in this question?

    from the ABAP help:
    The statement METHODS constructor for the declaration of the instance constructor of a class declared with the adition CREATE PRIVATE, can not only be listed in the public, but also in the protected or private visible area. This allows the use of components, which have been declared there, in the interface of the constructor.
    the problem might be your SAP system version. I have verified this on Netweaver 7.00.
    best regards,

  • Compile and call the class during the runtime

    Hi guys,
    I am struggling with a project, which allow user to modify the behavior of the program.
    To do this, my Java code must be able to compile the Java code (*.java) and call the class from the code during the runtime.
    Here are my code:
    com.sun.tools.javac.Main javac = new com.sun.tools.javac.Main();
    String[] options = new String[] {"d:\\javaExternal\\RunTimeCompilation.java"};
    System.out.println(Main.compile(options));This allows me to compile the .java file into .class file. However, I can't find the way to access/use the .class file.
    Do you guys have solution for this?
    Thanks a lot.

    You will also need to investigate class unloading and proxies since presumably they can modify the file and compile it again.
    Might note that in general this seldom works for business solutions. It seems like allowing the users to add their own functionality would be a good idea so the programmers don't have to keep doing it. But the reality is that then the users must become programmers. And often must be pretty good at it as well since they must not only know the programming language but also the framework too. The second problem is that it also becomes a maintenance nightmare for the real developers to upgrade the existing system.

  • How to load all the classes in a JAR file at runtime?

    Any clues o:
    "How can I force JVM to load all the classes in a specified JAR at once?"
    Thanx!
    -Rajeev

    Well I was thinking may be there exists an option with "java", when I
    am starting an application from a jar file, I could force it to load all
    the classes in the JAR. I don't want to do it programically. Is there such
    an option available?? Or in other words can I ask JVM to not do the dynamic
    loading for the JAR??
    Thanx.
    List all JarEntries and convert the paths to fully
    qualified class files
    e.g file in jar
    [1] /com/mycompany/proj/X.class
    should become
    [2] com.mycompany.proj.X
    then for each entry issue
    Class.forName( [2] );

  • How to find references of a Property in the class through code? similar to 'Find All References' in Visual Studio Environment.

     Hello,
    I am trying to find a code to find all the references of the property defined in a class which is very similar to 'Find All References' function available in Visual Studio environment. But I want to have it in code during run time. How to do it?
    e.g
    =>Property 1
    private int _Salary;
    public int Salary()
    get{return _Salary;}
    set{_Salary = value;}
    => Property 2
    private int _Bonus;
    public int Bonus()
    get{return Salary * 2;}
    Like in the above example I have two properties Salary & Bonus. Bonus is calculated from salary. As soon as I set a value to Salary, value of Bonus gets updated.
    Similarly I want to get reference of all other properties or methods in the class or program which are affected when value of Salary is changed through code.
    Conclusion - I want to have a method or function, so that whenever I set a value to some property in a class, I want to have a list of all the other properties(List<Property>) or methods which are affected and in which the changed property is referenced.
    Please help me to achieve this.
    Siddharth.Shinde

    This is not something possible, as requested, even with reflection.
    I can't find the reason for having that kind of implementation at runtime.. your compiled assembly is not going to change once it's compiled.
    The way references are listed from within visual studio is probably using metadata gathered from the background compiler. When you write code, the compiler run pre-compilation tests, this is the same feature that will display error in your code before you
    compile, or complete your intelisense for types that aren't even compiled in the assembly.
    So, the only way for you to analyze this kind of thing would be to use something like ILDASM to disasemble your compiled libraries and gather metadata from the resulting MSIL. That would not work if you are using code obfuscation by the way.

  • Define a function at runtime...

    is it possible to define a function at runtime and call it...?
    i.e i have a program thats makes a call to some function xxx() in a class Abc
    but there is no definition for xxx() yet..hence during runtime the user types in the code and compiles it and then can he call the function xxx() from my program....? if so how..
    Thank you

    Both languages can be used from within a Java application.But you can't call-back Groovy methods from your java-app, can you?Sure you can! It compiles down to bytecode. Even code-weaving tools like AspectJ work with Groovy. If the OP really does need what he's asking for, Groovy or BeanShell are pretty much exactly what he's looking for. If it's what he really wants

  • Defining component use at runtime?

    Hi Developers,
    Is it possible to define the component usage at runtime with WD4A ?
    I would need to programmatically define or change the COMPONENT ("class" and not interface to use) at runtime.
    Then I would create an instance of this component (which I know how to perform).
    I would then need to be able to map some controllerinterface context of the newly defined component to my current controllerinterface context.
    Does it sounds possible?
    Sincerely,
    Olivier MATT

    Hi Oliver,
    That's possible. Just let your component usage point to an interface. While creating an instance of a component for this component usage, dynamically specify the actual component to be used. Of course, the component needs to implement the component interface.
    Best regards,
    Thomas
    P.S: There's also the possibility to use ComponentUsageGroups, but this is a highly dynamic thing for which you will lose all workbench support. Hence, it's only advised to use it in very special cases.

  • Getting the class of a primitive type or void

    Hello,
    Class.forName cannot be used to get the class of a primitive type or void. What does then ???
    I thought of defining a class for each primitive type and override getClass() to return the required type, but getClass() is final ...
    Please help

    I don't understand what you mean e.g.I get the name of the primitive type at runtime and need to convert it to a class. For example, Class.forName("byte") returns byte.class. But, unfortunately, Class.forName() doesn't return classes of primitives or void.
    I already solved the problem through putting ptimitive classes in a hashtable. But I was wondering if there is a simpler solution !!!
