Defining input file encoding type for XML Command Line parser

The commend line parser seems to default to an input xml file type of UTF8. I would like to use ANSI xml file types.
There is an option of xml -e <encoding> that should be able to do this.
I have tried
xml -ee ANSI file.xml
xml -ee 'ANSI' file.xml
xml -e ANSI file.xml
xml -e 'ANSI' file.xml
Can someone tell me what the correct syntax for thjis is.
Thanks

An xsd can be generated of an xml file using this tool: Use this tool properly according to your file:
The pdf however explaib about MDM xml to xsd you can try on yours:
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/bf0e8a97-0d01-0010-f0a2-af3b18b7f4eb
Once the xsd will be generated you can import it in external definitions.
Rewards if helpful.

• How to get file encoding type

Hi ,
How to get the file encoding type,
for example file is saved with the .txt and encoding is utf-8 and another file is saved .txt with encoding is ascii,
actually before reading the file i want idetify the encoding type
please help me it is very urgent for me..
thanks in advance

As there is no established regime for signing most encoding types, the only way to do this is to start parsing the file in one encoding, see if you get something that makes sense, and if not try another encoding, and so on. I.e. you have to code it yourself and even then it is not usually reliable. Sorry.

• Best JMS Message Type for XML

You can use WebLogic's XML message type if you like. If you want to use
selector expressions then it is particularly useful, especially since your
selector expressions can run on the body of the message. However, the
implications of this are that the selectors are more expensive (both in
terms of the processing needed to evaluate the XPath expression, and in
terms of the fact that the message bodies have to be in memory to do the
evaluation).
If you just want to transfer XML, then why not use a simple text message
type.
Use whatever suits your needs.

I would like to send contacts via wireless in vcf format in an e-mail. iPhone doesn't even see the attachment. Is there a special file contact type for iphone?

I must be more specific:

• Compare two pdf files using adobe acrobat through command line

Does anyone know how to compare two pdf files using adobe acrobat through command line. I want to do this via command line because we want to compare hundreds of file every day through some automated windows tasks.
If command line option is not available in acrobat, then is it feasible to make use of acrobat javascript API to do this task?
Any kind of help will be greatly.

Command-line: Not possible.
JavaScript: Possible, but very limited. Basically the only thing you can do is simulate clicking the Compare Documents button. The rest has to be done manually.
However, it *might* be possible to automate this process a bit more using a plugin. Ask over at the Acrobat SDK forum for more information...

• How to automatically generate a build file of the application from command-line

Hi All
How can we automatically generate a build file of the application from command-line (as opposed to using Jdev IDE to click to generate a build.xml) ?
Thanks

User, which jdev version do you use?
I don't think you can do this. You can only create an ant build.xml from the project inside jdev.
You can use ojdeploy to build the project. This is the only method which will also make the necessary changes to the descriptors.

• Logs for BIAR command line tool XI3.0

Hi,
Will there be any log files generated by the BIAR command line tool, when we try to export to a BIAR file?
Thanks,
Ashok Kumar M

Information regarding the import can be found in the following locations:
- Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects 11.5\Logging
- Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects 11.5\win32_x86
- Windows Event Viewer " If an error was encountered during import, the information will often be found here.
To generate more logs during the import:
Create a shortcut of the Import Wizard executable. The executable is found in <installation directory>:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 11.5\win32_x86.
Right-click the new shortcut. Click Properties.
Click the Shortcut tab. Add "trace at the end of the Target command line as follows:
"C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 11.5\win32-x86\ImportWiz.exe" -trace
Click OK.
When starting the import process, use this new shortcut instead of the previous one to start a trace. The resulting logs will reside in <installation directory>: \Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects 11.5\Logging.

Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
#*'''Windows:'''
#**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
#**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.

I liked a lot of the ideas you posted. Though I have to disagree with the idea of having tablets being into the size range of over 12". You start getting larger than that and you may as well start using a laptop. On the flip side of that, I have to agree that there are too many of the 7" available, which are almost too small. The 8-10" tablets give you the portability and smaller size people want for stuffing into their bags, purses, etc. The larger tablets are getting into that bulky area and that defeats the purpose of the tablet to begin with. Unfortunately I find myself using e-books more than I intended, but I don't need a full, or larger than a full, sized sheet of paper. They get harder to handle, even with Lenovo 's great form design.
The only reason to have more than one tablet is if the developers can't come to terms and allow their products to be used across the board (talking of Amazon and Google here). I personally don't want to be carrying around more than one tablet and a phone. I want to simplify and streamline not add more bulk.
I loved that you pointed out that our voices will never replace our fingers. I don't like speaking to inanimate objects; too many experiences with automated phone services that did not end up well.
I congratulate Lenovo for their innovative design with the Yoga tablets.

• Incorrect MIME type for XML Data Connection POST requests

It appears that Xcelsius 2008u2019s XML Data Connection logic does not specify the correct MIME type for the data it sends to the server in its POST request. Using an HTTP debug proxy, I was able to see that Xcelsius sends XML data in the POST, but is setting a content-type of u201Cx-www-form-urlencodedu201D. According to the W3C spec:
http://www.w3.org/TR/html401/interact/forms.html#h-17.13.4.1
Data sent with a MIME type of u201Cxxu201D should be encoded as key?value pairs, like this:
key1=val1&key2=val2&Submit=Submit
So, what Xcelsius is doing is clearly incorrect. Worse, if your server process is a Java servlet, you may find that the POSTed data will be gobbled up by the servlet container and you wonu2019t be able to read it using a getInputStream(), or getReader() call because itu2019s already been processed by a call to the getParameter() method.
The correct mime type for POSTing an XML formatted request from Xcelsius should be "text/xml".

Hi,
The Error #2032 your getting is due to the Flash player security.
To remove this this error you need one crossdomain Xml file in the root directory which actually provides a lot more control over who has access to your data from a SWF. The cross domain policy is attached as crossdomain.xml.
In the XML file, it is used a wildcard (*). This allows a SWF located on any machine to access your data source. You can certainly use an IP address or domain name to restrict access rather to opening it up completely. I always start with the wildcard to make sure my dashboard works, then start restricting access as necessary.
Here is a whitepaper with everything you need to know about Flash player security:

• Java Type for XML?

Three part question...
Is there a built-in type to handle XML content? For instance, the following
element and content...
<foo><![CDATA[blah blah blah]]></foo>
Or, is this typically handled by xsd:string? If xsd:sting is most
appropriate, then the responsibility of escaping the XML falls on the
implementation. When writing the XMLBean to a file, the above line is
translated as such:
<foo><![CDATA[blah blah blah]]></foo>
How to avoid escaping the '<' character?
Thanks,
Chris

Chris -- I've been tinkering a bit and haven't found a way to achieve what
you're looking for. Some other watcher on this group may have a solution,
though.
Incidentally, the example and output I provided were a mismatched. The code
should actually produce something like this:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<foo><blah> blah blah</foo>

Hey Steve. Thanks for the reply.
The types are generated from a schema. Currently I'm using xsd:string:
<xsd:element name="coconutTests" type="xsd:string"/>
The element coconutTests will contain XML. Is there an XML type that
handles all the intricacies of XML content (such as the masking thecontent
w/ CDATA)?
The < happens when I write to an XMLBean to an XML file. Doesn't look
like this happened in your case. Strange.
ex.setCoconutTests("<![CDATA[ COCONUT TESTS HERE]]>");
where ex is an XmlObject and results in:
<coconutTests><![CDATA[ COCONUT TESTS HERE]]></coconutTests>

Chris -- Are you using types generated from schema, or parsing with an
XmlObject?
I tried code such as the following with your example:
XmlObject newObject =
XmlObject.Factory.parse("<foo><![CDATA[<blah> blah blah]]></foo>");
newObject.save(new File("c:/test.xml"));
And got this in test.xml:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<foo>blah blah blah</foo>
Which is, I believe, the functional equivalent of your example. I tried
adding elements inside and outside the CDATA and got predictable
results.
For elements inside the CDATA (ie, interpreted as character data),XMLBeans
escapes the < as < rather than wrapping in a CDATA. At least in these
simple examples.

• Default encoding used for XML creation

Hi Experts
I'm using the SAP XML library to create XML documents e.g. to exchange generic data between different SAP systems as well as between SAP and None-SAP systems.
Everything works fine but one important question came up several times. Which encoding is used by default if a DOM is created but no specific encoding is set? Can this default encoding be changed e.g. in some system settings?
If the XML document created in my coding contains unreadable characters or parsing is not possible the encoding to be used can be set by the administrator in own customizing tables. At the moment I'm trying to find under what circumstances the default can be used and when a particular characters set / byte order has to be defined. Furthermore instead of "try and error" I'd like to find (and describe) the attributes based on which the correct character set to be used can be determined.
Thank you in advance for any hints!
Best regards,
Matthias

Unicode defines several character sets and that java uses one of those that has been specified as the encoding in the code itself.. Several of these supported are 16 bit character sets like Chinese character sets and so forth. The default encoding however for a java application is ISO-8859-1 which is an 8-bit encoding.
The classes java.io.InputStreamReader, java.io.OutputStreamWriter, and java.lang.String can convert between Unicode and a number of other character encodings. However this conversion has to be performed explicitly in the code. so java by default doesnt support 16 bit characters unless specified in the code or in certain cases respective MIME headers are used properly.

• How to set encoding type for e4x result

I have a application with front end Flex and Server side App
in Java. I am using HttpService to communicate to Java application
(Web). I am sending data in xml format to flex and parsing it as
e4x format. From service side I am setting the charset as
windows-1252 and xml encoding is also windows-1252. In Flex I am
getting some junk characters. But When I post the same http request
from browser, I am able to view the characters with expected
encoding.
Can anybody clue me on getting xml data in required encoding
type (charset) in Flex.
Thanks in Advance,
Gokul Ram.T

The message is old, but the problem is opened and I believe that many people have troubles with getting appropriate encoding in e4x result.
I have excactly same problem like Gokul, only difference is that I am trying to get ISO-8859-2 charset. HttpService deffinition looks like this:
var source:HTTPService = new HTTPService();
source.method = "POST";
source.resultFormat = "e4x";
source.contentType = "text/xml; charset=ISO-8859-2";
source.headers = {"Content-Type": "text/xml; charset=ISO-8859-2"};
So I suppose that everything what can be set is set. But still in result XMLthere are no national chars. I also get correct XML when I request it in browser, but requesting by Flex and HttpService makes problem.
Does anyone have same problem and find out something to handle this?
