Delay in applying Look and feel on jDialog

I am working with java1.4 / OS as windows Xp.
Recently i came across an interesting problem regarding look and feel.
Actually my syatem llok and feel was windows and i set swing application Look and feel as Metal. Now whenever i am launching any dialog on my awing application , The dialog appears in windows LAF for few nenoseconds and then changes to Metal.
Even if if check the llok and feel just before launcing the dialog i am getting Metal as result
Can any one help me out about what might be going wrong ?

I've never noticed this before. (I guiess my eyes aren't good enought to spot something for a few nanoseconds)
If you need further help then you need to create a [url http://homepage1.nifty.com/algafield/sscce.html]Short, Self Contained, Compilable and Executable, Example Program (SSCCE) that demonstrates the incorrect behaviour, because I can't guess exactly what you are doing based on the information provided.
Don't forget to use the [url http://forum.java.sun.com/help.jspa?sec=formatting]Code Formatting Tags so the posted code retains its original formatting.

  • NetBeans: Dinamically changing Look and Feel Problem

    Hi there, Java lovers.
    I need some help here!
    I love java, and I used to program my graphical user interfaces by hand. In my applications, there is a dropdown for the user to chose the desired look and feel. Then I save the selected option to a file and on the startup I do something like this:
                UIManager.setLookAndFeel(savedUserSelectedLookAndFeel);That always worked really fine. The look and feel would change and everything worked really well.
    However, programing GUI by hand is really a PITA. So I was seduced by Netbeans. I am using Netbeans 6.0 on Windows XP, and I designed the GUIs really fast now.
    The problem is, the system look and feel works really well, but when I change the look and feel of my application to a different one (Java/Motif/etc..) the look and feel changes but the components positions and sizes becomes all messed up. It really becomes impossible to work with a different look and feel because some components are outside of frames.
    I believe the cause of this is because Netbeans generates the code automatically using Grids and stuff like that, and by doing so, the change of the look and feel becomes messed up. This is a thing that would not happen with my manually created code.
    This is really troubling me. Does someone has the same problem. Is there something I can do? Or do I need to create my GUIs by hand like before?

    Sorry for the delay in reply, but one problem for you is that this is not a NetBeans users forum, thus you will not necessarily receive speedy replies here to your NetBeans questions. The best place to send NetBeans questions is:
    [email protected]
    [email protected] (for NetBeans API issues)
    As for your question, you seem to already know quite a bit about NetBeans UI Look and Feel programming, but have you seen these:

    Below is the executable code generated using NetBeans which is enough to generate the error message. Sometimes you can get the error message just by running the program. Sometimes the error will occur when you go into the Menu and click on Item.

  • How do I get a more modern look and feel for a compiled help file

    I gather from reading various posts that there is no easy way
    to generate a .chm file with a more modern look and feel (am I
    right about this?). Are there no plug-ins available from Adobe that
    will enable us to generate a help file that looks more modern?
    I hesitate to move to flash help or something like that
    because, of course, then the developers would have to hookup the
    hundreds of dialog boxes we have in our product to the new files. I
    also think that having one file is way easier to manage in terms of
    getting updated help to the customers. What are online Help
    developers generally delivering for apps where users are not
    connected to the Internet except perhaps periodically while using
    the software? I'm a writer (not a developer) so need soemthing that
    is easy to implement :-)
    Thanks for your help. It is much appreciated.

    To add to the advice already offered, you can apply a skin to
    a CHM file which allows you to customise it. However as with most
    things there are issues with this approach. You can read about this
    by downloading Rick Stone's excellent
    tips
    'n tricks file. Just look in the index under "skins". Something
    else you may want to look at is the beta of Adobe's
    AIR.

  • Themed look and feel broken in sub-site

    We have several site collections in a farm using SP2013 + SP1 under a common web application that use a custom theme for the look and feel. After upgrading to SP2013 December 2014 CU, one of the site collections' custom theme is broken. Furthermore,
    the same site collection cannot use most of the OOTB themes. I have only successfully gotten the theme "Office" to work correctly. (I have not tested all the OOTB theme choices)
    Immediately after the CU was applied the CSS and JS on this site collection was not working. After changing the theme to "Office" I was able to test out other troubleshooting options. If I select another theme choice, the "try it out"
    page returns with an error "A cobalt error was thrown." This is not a helpful error for me and I could not find much on the internet regarding it. Another error I have received was "file not found", or yet another error "The
    URL
    '_catalogs/theme/Themed/4F147962/likefull.11x11x32-F47391E9.themedpng' is
    invalid.  It may refer to a nonexistent file or folder, or refer to a valid file
    or folder that is not in the current Web." I have not been able to fix the issue.
    I have found that under 'Site Settings' -> 'Web Designer Galleries' -> 'Themes' -> 'Themed' is a library of folders. My thought is that these folders are created dynamically when a new theme is applied. I have several folders, but all are empty
    except one. I am now trying to determine why these folders are empty.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
    Please try to update the latest CU for SharePoint 2013(April 2015 CU for SharePoint 2013), then check whether the issue still exists or not.
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/stefan_gossner/archive/2015/04/14/april-2015-cu-for-sharepoint-2013-has-been-released.aspx
    In my test environment, the 'Themed' all folders are not empty.

  • Problem setting look and feel

    It seems like I'm not able to change the windows xp look and feel, I'm using this code to change it but nothing happens, the window comes out with windows LAF:
    " public static void main(String[] args)
    try {
    UIManager.setLookAndFeel("javax.swing.plaf.metal.MetalLookAndFeel");
    } catch (Exception e) { System.out.println(e.getMessage()); }
    new Ventana();
    Maybe... Am I missing some code? or a specific class needs to be downloaded?
    I'd apreciate any help

    That was not the problem, but thank you...
    I finally noticed the problem, what I was trying to do was actually done by writting this:
    JComponent.setDefaultLookAndFeelDecorated(true);
    Sets the OceanTheme feel on, but I noticed that when you try to use it with a Jdialog and a JFileChooser you get some ugly colors. Orange/Brown with JDialogs and Green with JFileChoosers. Is this a bug or it's ment to do that?
    Does somebody know how to fix it?
    Thanks for your support

  • Motif look and feel

    if i run the following code,it displayes a dialog with missing title text
    import javax.swing.JOptionPane;
    import javax.swing.UIManager;
    public class TestMotif {
         * @param args
         public static void main(String[] args) {
              try
                   //UIManager.setLookAndFeel(UIManager.getSystemLookAndFeelClassName());
                   UIManager.setLookAndFeel("com.sun.java.swing.plaf.motif.MotifLookAndFeel");
              } catch (Exception e) {
                   // TODO Auto-generated catch block
                   e.printStackTrace();
              JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, "done", "Confirmation Dialog for testing",
                        JOptionPane.INFORMATION_MESSAGE);
    in motif look and feel(system look and feel for solaris os)the dialog size is dependent on the message text length not on tilte text length.
    whereas in other look and feel the dialog size is dependent on both message and title text length.I raisedn it in sun's bug but didnt get any reply.Can anyone tell how can it be fixed in jre level.

    It's not the answer you want to hear, but it's pretty simple:
    Write your own JDialog subclass that implements the behavior you want. It should be pretty straightforward to write a JOptionPane message dialog clone.

  • Changing Look and Feel programatically ??

    Hi,
    Is there a way in WLP815 to apply a look and feel programatically may be by using desktop backing or some other way?
    I tried to use LookAndFeel.setSkin() in desktop backing preRender method to change the skin from 'default' to say 'custom',
    To my surprise, It is rendering images from 'custom' and CSS styles from 'default' skin. Hmmmm.
    I even cleared the cache on my browser. But no luck :-(
    Does any one had this issue and know a work around?
    Thanks in advance!
    -Subba

    I use following code in header backing "init":
    LookAndFeel lookAndFeel = LookAndFeel.getLookAndFeel(request);
    lookAndFeel.setSkin(newskin);
    lookAndFeel.setSkeleton(newskeleton);
    lookAndFeel.reinit();

  • SSHR reskin AKA 'How to Use Adobe Flash to Transform the Look and Feel...

    There was a presentation at the OHUG 2011 Conference titled 'How to Use Adobe Flash to Transform the Look and Feel of Oracle HR Self Service'. It presented a method of 're-skinning' SSHR to present a different UI to the user.
    Looking for anyone out there that has attempted to apply this to their Oracle HRSS pages. I know this company has developed (is developing?) a product based on this approach. I want to see if anyone has done it on their own and would be willing to share some details.
    Follow-up question. Has anyone availed themselves of the bespoke UI Development based on this approach from Applaud Solutions (as mentioned on their website), and care to comment on your experience?

    Any update on this please? Even we are looking for some pointers in this area.

  • HTMLB or html - when we need full control of look and feel and events

    Hi Experts,
          In my requirement i  need to change the look and feel of the BSP UI as per customer standards and i need to have most of my processing on client side, Please advise me whether to go for HTMLB or normal HTML. mainly i fount most of the client side events are not available in HTMLB....
    Thanks in advance
    Karthik

    Hi Karthik,
    The look and feel of the BSP Tags can be applied via Portal. If you are seeing your BSP application through a protal system, then you can develop a theme inside the portal and apply it to your BSP application. The portal theme will be automatically supported by the HTMLB tags. For more infomation on this you can search in the portal forum section, you will find a lot of post for this topic.
    But if you need a complex customization of the UI controls inside the BSP application, as suggested in the previous post you should go for HTML + Javascript library.
    Hope it is helpful!

  • Iview look and feel

    Hi Team,
    Please suggest.
    Iview look and feel is different in consumer and producer. It is working fine in normal portal but in central portal the iview content is not looking good(table details are not clear , looks like merged on one on one and graphics are also not good)
    Please suggest.
    Images attached.
    Thanks,
    Sankar.

    Thanks Mahendran.
    I have checked that. Those have Different versions both in producer and consumer.
    It is 7.11.7.32.0.
    But in central portal  it is 7.0.17.1.0.
    What exactly this UR version is for please ?
    How this is effected only Iviews ?
    after seeing the screenshots attached,
    1) Is it because of Themes ? If yes, how to check that what themes are applied in producer and consumer
    2) Will it happen only for particular iviews ? Is there any case like that ?
    Recently system refresh happened for ECC system.
    Please suggest.
    Thanks,

  • WebDynpro look and Feel

    Hi,
    I created a webdynpro application and deployed into portals. We are running Portals SP11. But the webdynpro is not getting custom look and feel what has been added to the portal by default, it is displaying SAP Color theme.
    Any ideas please?
    Thanks
    Vijay

    Hi
      Are your J2EE instances different for WAS and EP. If they are then what is the version of your WAS. You have mentioned EP as SP11.
    Note : In SP11 the below mentioned procedure slightly affects the theme. It works fine in SP10 though. See if the steps mentioned below is of any help to you.
    If you want the color schemes to apply for WebDynpro then you will have to set the theme for the WebDynpro application too.
    Download the Theme Editor available in SDN.
    Follow these steps
    Create a new theme editor project with the same name as the theme name in the portal.
    Import your theme file into WebDynpro.
    You will have to generate your custom theme and then right click and export your theme as a zip file.
    Then extract the Zip file to a folder.Copy the extracted files into the folder
    C:\usr\sap\J2E\JC00\j2ee\cluster\server0\temp\webdynpro\web\sap.com\tcwddispwda\global\SSR\themes
    Then give the path in your Visual Admin --> Configuration Adapter --> WebDynpro >tcwddispwda> default.properties
    Type the path as the following.
    http://<machine_Name>:50000/webdynpro/resources/sap.com/tcwddispwda/global/SSR/themes/sap_chrome
    and also set the property useWebDynproStyleSheet property to true and then restart your J2EE server.
    Hope that helps you. Let me know if you require more inputs
    regards
    ravi

    Hello,
    I have spent a lot of time to indicate wherever I could that you don't have to ask questions about the LAF on this forum. You have two other different locations, a dedicated email and a dedicated forum.
    At the first sight, it seems that you have not used the laf_10123.jar in your archive tag.
    Thank you,
