Delete 'choose folder' message

Random is selected in Screen Savers, part of System Preferences. Instead of randomly choosing the folders that I have pictures/slides in to show, I get a message saying 'the folder chosen is empty, choose options', at least once a day. I don't know what folder it's talking about, or what I need to choose. My Screen Savers are in all three library folders, main, system and user. Is there anything I can do to get rid of these message?

I took pictures out of the iPhoto folder about a month ago. That folder was in my Screen Saver Picture folder. I took it out, problem resolved.

  • Applescript to open the Choose Folder dialog box and close the message after moving it

I've been trying to figure out how to get the same functionality as the Windows version of Outlook has so that the open message gets closed when it's moved to another folder.
It seems pretty simple to move a message to a pre-defined folder, but I can't find a way to open the Choose Folder dialog so I could choose the destination folder. I've looked through the dictionary, but couldn't find any direct way to activate the Choose Folder dialog. So I decided to use keystrokes for the job. Here's what I came up with:
    on run {}
        tell application "Microsoft Outlook"
            try
set theMessage to first item of (get current messages)
set folderID to the folder of theMessage
            on error errMsg number errNum
set dialogReply to display dialog "Please select one or more messages to file away before running this script." buttons {"Abort"} default button 1
                return
            end try
-- open the Choose Folder dialog
            tell application "System Events" to keystroke "m" using {command down, shift down}
            repeat
                delay 2
set currentID to the folder of theMessage
if currentID is not folderID then exit repeat
            end repeat
            -- Close the active message
tell application "System Events" to keystroke "w" using command down
        end tell
    end run
This is my first attempt to do anything with AppleScript..
Now in addition to using keystrokes instead of Outlook built-in commands to open the Choose Folder dialog and to close the message, I also have another problem. Everytime I run the script from AppleScript Editor, everything runs fine, the message gets moved to the folder I choose and the message also gets closed. When I move the script to "~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Office/Outlook Script Menu Items" and start it from inside Outlook, Outlook  gets stuck after opening the Choose Folder dialog and I have to force quit Outlook. I added some debuggin to the script and found out that the script keeps running, but I'm unable to select the folder from Outlook and cannot continue.
Anybody have an idea why this is happening?
    Regard,
    Kris

Unchecking "Submit crash reports" in the Firefox [[Options window - Advanced panel]] General tab simply toggles the default of the "Tell Mozilla about this crash so they can fix it" check box in the Mozilla Crash Reporter dialog (upon crash). It does not turn off the Crash Reporter itself.

  • Can I delete a corrupt message diretly from the In Box in the Mail folder

I received an e-mail that has an .eml attachment. Mail would not download the entire message with the attachment - although it continued trying to download once it started to load in my in box. I deleted this e-mail message from the server. Now Mail seems to be caught in a continuous loop of "Fetching new mail" The only way I can exit the program is to force quit. When I open the program again the same thing happens. When I try to move this partial e-mail to the trash or delete it, bounce it or forward it I get an "opening mailbox and synchronizing with file system" message
or the program freezes. When I try to copy this e-mail to another folder the message is "resuming interrupted append"
Is there a way to delete just a message from any of the in/out boxes?
It seems like all messaged, in/out/sent etc are all compressed together like a stuffit file but there's not way to get in and delete just a particular message. The only other way I have been able to get rid of a partially corrupted file like this is to remove the entire account or in this instance, the accounts in box, move it to another folder on the desktop, reopen Mail and let it rebuild the accounts in box, then copy and paste everything except for the corrupt file into that. There's got to be an easier way!
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

The problem I have is it will go into the trash, but then I have the same problem deleting it from the trash! Even when it looks like it's deleted and I reboot Mail, the file returns to the same spot or in the original In Box.
The problem, I think, lies in the actual corrupted file that's embedded in the in/out/trash etc file in the main Mail folder. From what I understand, Mac has fixed this problem in 10.4 and one can go and delete that particular message/file. In 10.3 land, they are all hidden. Thanks for brainstorming with me!

Why can't I delete all incoming messages at once without having to select each one first. It can be done while in the "Trash" folder, but not the "IN" folder.

Well, what I see happing is this: Tapping edit and checking the first message brings up the “Delete” option. Holding it until the red message “Delete Message” appears, then letting go of the red button and tapping the checked button makes the “Delete Message” message go away. The checked message is still checked with an option to delete just that message. Tap the checked message again just cancels the whole process and I’m back to square one.
However, if I check a message that is part of a thread of messages and tap Delete, I have the option of deleting all messages in the thread.
Perhaps the fact that I’m using the 3rd generation of the iPad is the problem, but your suggestion isn’t working.

  • Help please? Outlook 2011 stuck on 'updating message list' after deleting 1000's of emails from my 'deleted items' folder

    Hello.
I've been searching online for an answer and can't find one - hopefully someone can help...
I recently updated to Yosemite and decided on a general clear-out, so went through 1000's of documents, photos, emails, etc. I ended up deleting the all of the emails in my 'deleted items' folder. Since then, when I go into Outlook and hit the 'send/receive' tab it logs on as normal, but then gets stuck on 'updating message list' - it shows me that there are emails and how many, but will not download them.
Does anyone have any experience of this?
    Many thanks!

As Outlook, part of MS Office, is not an Apple product, I strongly recommend asking in the Microsoft Office:Mac forums here:
    Office for Mac
Everyone there is a Mac user AND an Office user, something you can't say about Apple's forums. You will get the fastest help there and I think you will find the contributors more than helpful.

If I move a mailbox from my imap account to "on my mac" can I safely delete the folder from the mail server and still be able to read the messages?

    You certainly can.
Be aware that the emails you move to local storage ("on my Mac") will be the only copies that remain.

  • To Delete a folder in LR

LR allows you to remove or delete pictures, and you can make a new folder which uses explorer and makes the folder on the hard drive as well as in LR. However, if you decide to delete a folder in LR, it will do so, but the folder is still on the hard drive. You would then have to open explorer and delete the folder on the hard drive.
This seems messy and not very smooth work flow. Should this not be fixed in next release?

    >On the Mac, I can choose one or more folders and right click and choose "delete". They are then deleted from the disk, not only from LR.
That's very odd Pierre. I'm also using a Mac with the folders on the main disk drive, not networked. If I select a folder and right-click the Delete, I get this message:
"If you continue, these images will be removed from the Lightroom library but the folder and files will remain on disk."
Continuing on and deleting removes the folder from Lightroom but leaves the folder and files within on the drive. If I select two or more folders, I get the same message but only the first folder is deleted.
Ah, I just tried first deleting the files within the folders then the folders, and then indeed the folder is deleted and removed from the hard drive. So the folder must be emtied to have it removed from the disk. However, it still only deletes the first folder of several selected.

  • Additional folder "Messages" after mail import

Hi, I imported the mail from an old system (10.6) into  a 10.8 system via "Import Mailboxes ..." in Mail.app.
I choose "Apple Mail" in the "Import data from:" window and selected the main directory where all the mailboxes and their messages sat.
After a couple of hours, after importing, the structure seemed to be replicated on the newer system,
except that every mail folder containing messages also contains a folder "Messages" showing exactly the same messages
    as in the folder above.
Since that's many thousands of messages in hundreds of folders deleting the respective Messages-folder is not feasible.
    How can I solve this?
    Thanks, Michael.

Intermediate answer: The app launched correctly and the import process has started.
It is taking ages though. Over 3 hours for around 30K messages.
The message count sometimes gets stuck for 20-30 minutes or so and then starts counting again...
There are ~5K messages left to be imported. I'll let you know if it goes ok.
Stay tuned for the next and hopefully last episode.

  • Items are not moved to the deleted items folder when they expire

    Hey
I have Exchange 2010 Server (Version: 14.01.0438.000) and configured a retention policy with one retention tag for the
inbox that moves items after 365 days to the deleted items folder. I have assigned this policy to one Mailbox to see if it works. It doesn't. :)
All Items are "stamped" correctly with a expiry date. And the Messages show now "This item is expired" for example:
I made the Policy a week ago and waited to see if the items will be moved but nothing happen until today. The Application Log shows no errors or warnings. I already used "Start-ManagedFolderAssistant"
    multiple times....
what is wrong here? And how do i track the problem down?
i also checked all the other threads regarding the same or alike issues. But couldn't find anything that would halp me.

  • Is there a way to delete all the messages for a user in CUC 8.6 ?

With Unity it was possible as an administrator, to delete all the messages in a user's mailbox, directly from the server (Windows).  Now, with Unity Connection (8.6.1) is there a way to do the same ?  When I'm logged as an administrator, I can see, for every user, the number of messages and the size (Mailbox menu) that they have in their mailbox, but what I want to do is to be able to delete all the messages for a specific user... Is it possible with CUC 8.6.1 ?

    Hi there,
The best way with Unity Connection is with the use of this excellent tool from
    the great suite of Unity Tools (** "reset" feature);
    Unity Connection Bulk User Delete
For resetting users you have the option of emptying the mailbox, resetting greetings, deleting voice names, resetting passwords, removing private lists and a number of other options you may choose.  For installations where the user base “changes over” frequently such as schools this may be a nicer option.  This option is also allowed for CoRes installations since it does not involve the removal of user objects from the Connection database.

  • Error Renaming/Deleting a folder!

  • Deleting the Alert Message

How can I delete the Alert Message which says that a photo with a certain number cannot be found? I may have deleted that numbered photo in the camera or I may have deleted another from iPhoto or from an imported group. When I click on "cancel", it continues on with another error message for another photo that it can't find and proceeds todo that until it has issued alert messages for each one. The only way I can get rid of the message and continue to work is the "Force Quit". I would like to eleminate the error message entirely.

Check iPhoto's Advanced preference section to see if the checkbox to copy files into iPhoto upon import is checked. If it is not then your library is an alias based library and the original source files are missing. Also look inside the iPhoto Library/Originals folder do see if the full sized image files are present in the subfolders. If they are all alias files (with a small arrow in the lower left hand corner) then you may have lost all of your photos.
Post back with what you find.
