Delete OR Change Validity of COST ELEMENT

Hi,
     I want to delete the wrongly created COST ELEMENT but after Excution of same through Tcode KA04,again it is apearing and
     even change in validity date is also not reflecting.
     Kindly suggest how to do the same. Thanks in advance.

Dear Sai,
               As per ur suggestion it allow me to change but after saving the same it is giving message that no changes were made.
               And when I open it again showing me the old one validity period only.
               Kindly help me out.

We use funds management in our solution. It has worked fine in development but when doing the module tests we get the following error when creating a shopping cart:
Value BLANK/SPACE not valid for cost element "Fund"
When creating a PR in backend we do not get an error. So it should not be a problem in funds management.
Everything works fine when using BBPSC01 (central)
Any ideas?

Change date for cost element

hi
i created the cost element vaild from 01.04.2008 instent of 01.04.2007 then i saved. now i want change the date i.e valid from 01.04.2007,. i don't want delete the cost element in ka05 then create,
i want change the validty with out deleting the cost element.

Please read the post. WIth the suggestion you have given teh system will allow to change the period to a future date and not to the past date.
In this case the hasc reated a cost element with effective from 2008 where as he wants to change this to 2007.
system will not allow this.
"You selected an analysis period extending beyond the period for which the object was defined. This is not allowed in the change or display functions."

Change of Allocation Cost element in Activity type during Fiscal year

Hi,
An activity type was planned on a cost center in KP26 with a wrong cost element. Then actual activity allocations were posted with this acitivity type. Now I have reversed all actual allocations on this cost center with this activity type and keep trying to delete the plan line item in KP26 to be able to change the cost element.
Unfortunatelly the deletion is not succesful. I get the Message no. K8098:
"Costs already posted under cost element 12345. No deletion possible
Procedure
First reverse the posted record under cost element 12345."
I have reversed the allocations. The Balance on the cost center is 0. However the reversal seems not to be sufficient.
Do you have any idea what needs to be done to be able to delete the plan line item in KP26?

Follow this note it may be helpful. I guess you need to delete the records from table before doing anything else.

Changing assignment of cost elements to cost components

Hello,
I want to assign a cost component to another cost element. Message no. KQ312 Maintenance after deactivating 10 makes cost estimates incomparable appears.
After the change, isn't it possible to compare the cost estimate anymore at all or just the changed cost components?

If you change the cost element grouping in your cost component - the standars SAP gives the message that previous cost estimate cost component will not be comparable.. It has got logic because once you do the Actvity price calculation system stores the value as per cost component strcuture in KEPH table . The 40 cost feils in KEPH get dynamically linked as per your cost component.
So if you want to change it , you can change it but makesure you run the KSPI again . If you are moving your existing cost element to another group , the previous saves cost component will not display correctly , although all the future cost estimate will show you as per revised strcuture.
If you not bother about previous cost compoent display then you can change it.

Validation rule cost element via Idoc

Hi all,
i am sitting on the following Problem:
we are creating master data via an external tool, called MDM. It is an Access based tool as far as i know.
These data's are send via Idoc into our SAP R/3 system. It works fine.
The only issue we have:
If you create cost elements, you have normally a validation with gives you a warning that e.g. this cost element already exist. Via our Idoc its just overwriting this already existing cost elements, also the history, all data's are nearly lost.
Do we have to customize special validation rules? Is it because of Idoc? why is the existing validation not be activated via Idoc?
I hope i have written down enough information, so that somebody can help me. Thanks

The validation rule check only the first item from accounting document. So, all postings on account 1103010008 are blocked.

I need to check the second item from accouting document.

Want to change the cost element for a activity type (KP26)

Hi,
I want to change the Allocation cost element for an activity type in KP26. I have already changed the cost element in the activity master data in KL02. Now i want to change it in KP26. I am trying to delete the existing line item in KP26 to create the new line item with the new cost element, but system not allowing to delete the existing one. It throws the error message ""Allocations with XXXXXXX/XXXX (Cost center/Activity type) exist ; deletion not possible". Can someone please help me to change the cost element?

Thanx for you people for helping me. i havin gone doubt here. If i am deleting the existing line in KP26 and create new line with appropriage cost element will it be cause the existing datas? I don't want to go for another activity type, because our process is a complex process exist all over the world in more than 300 company codes. So i want to use the existing activity type but want to change the allocation cost element alone. Is there any possibility to change the cost element alone?

In Cost Elements (Data is Dependent on Controlling Area), please go to extras and check your controlling area while creating the cost element, and make sure if u r creating Primary CE, it has been created as a G/L account and also make sure you use correct CE Category.

Hi,
Cost Elements are broadly of two categories - Primary and Secondary cost elements.
In case of primary cost element a GL Account should have been created and in case of secondary cost no corresponding GL account should exist. Secondary Cost Elements are used only in Controlling Module. The transaction codes are:
KA01 - Create Primary Cost Element.
KA06 - Create Secondary Cost Element.
KA02 - Change Cost Element
KA03 - Display Cost Element
KA04 - Delete Cost Element
KA05 - Display Changes
Once transaction data is posted Cost Element cannot be deleted.
Another point in Cost Elements is defining the Cost Element category. Cost Element category determines which Cost Element category can be used for which Business Purpose. For example cost element category 1 is used for primary costs and 11 is used for revenues.
In the default account assignment tab, we can define a cost center / internal order and always the postings for that cost element will be posted to that cost object.

Error message at changing Valiadity of cost center

I am getting error messege
Deletion is not possible (dependent records exist in table COKA)
     Message no. KS 133
Diagnosis
     To maintain the consistency of existing data, you can only delete data
     if no transaction data exists in the change period. You are not allowed
     to post either plan data or actual data.
     As transaction data already exists in table , you cannot execute the
     deletion in time period.

Heartly appreciate for any reply on following...
I need to write a query for a Payroll Audit report which will capture the details of all the changes in assignment, costing, element entries for employee along with the person who changed it, and when changed it.
I can find the change date based upon last_updated_date/by but how to find how many columns has changed?

Why create a separate table and a mod to the SAP standard when the existing functionality of change pointers does exactly what is needed?

Cost element categorey

The category of a primary cost element was defined as 1, as a result the value from SD module can't be transported to COPA. We should change the category to 11 or 12. However there has been transction data related this cost element. we can't change it for the current fiscal year. could anyone help me?

Dear Chiristina,
Since the transaction has already been posted the value cannot be transported. Rather you can create a secondary cost element and then transfer the value. Later you can change the primary cost element category or you can also continue with the value captured through secondary cost element.

In KP26 activity types allocation cost element displaying old cost element

Hi,
I changed cost element in activity types. But in KP26, activity types picking old cost element only.
Ex: I changed 9430000002 for Labour activity with old one 9430000001 but in KP26, while planning for Labour activity it is picking 9430000001. so its becoming problem while running CK11N.

While changing the secondary cost element for activity type, hop you got the following warning message.
So you must check whether the existing data is there or not for that activity type.
One more important thing.
The cost element field is a time based filed.
You can change this field for each fiscal year. For example, you can change the field content for a new fiscal year.
