Delete unused vi (files) in the project

Hi there,
I know that may be an old topic, but I still have no better solution.
In my project are not only the vis but other kinds of data, for instance png, mp4...
I didn't use the Auto-populating folders (instead the virtual folders) in the project structure. It' s quite sure that in the folder on the hard drive there should be many vis and files, that are no longer used in the project.
Also some VIs are called dynamically in the main vi, which can not be saved as using the save hierarchy function.
I'm not expecting to delete all the VIs, which is not used. But at least to tell which VI is still in use.
Any suggestions and ideas?
Wilbur

I made a basic tool vi that compares the 'AllVIsInMemory' output with a recursive directory listing. Everything that wasn't in the AllVIsInMemory was written to a listbox. The delete was performed manually. I also did output the number of 'suspected' files, so I had an isea how clean my project folder was. What I didn't implement but what would be an easy improvement is filtering by extension (so limit to vi, vit, ...).
I don't have this vi with me right now, but it's easy to do your own.

  • How to delete unused audio files in a project?

    Hi guys,
    The question is fairly simple:
How to delete unused audio files in a project?
I can't manage to find the answer in the manual,... all I could find is how to delete audio outside used regions!
But in the projects I use, I have loads of outtakes which I don't use in the project anymore, and now, I would like to delete them of the audio folder to save space on the HD.
Can Logic select automatically the takes in the audio files folder which are not used in the project and delete them??
Because there is hundreds of audio files per project, and +/- 50 projects, I just can't do it manually.
    Thanks,
    Fred

Whoops! Yes, I knew that but a cow flew by... Sorry!
The procedure I follow is to do what I described then Save as Project, creating a project folder. That way only the required audio is saved to the folder and I delete all temporary stuff. However, if you have folders with shared material, it's much harder and would require you to go through all your projects doing Save as Project before you could delete your old working folder.
When doing day to day work, best practice is to create a new folder and only use Save as Project when you're working on stuff. Shared material (eg sample libraries etc) can go elsewhere and you can get Logic to copy those to the project folder automatically.
Otherwise, Shift-Backspace in the Audio window, as you rightly say

  • Deleteing Unused video files

In Premiere Elements 9, I can delete unused clips displayed in the Organizer, but when I delete the original video file, Premiere 9 still asks for the unused file when loading a project. How do I tell Premiere 9 the file is no longer needed and to remove it from the list of needed video files?

Get into the project.prel with the missing media by clicking Skip All on the Missing Media messages that you encounter trying to open the project.
Then delete all instances for the missing file or files in all of the following locations:
    a. Timeline
    b. Organize Header Media Tab in row below the Organize
    c. Organize Header, Project Tab in row below the Organize Header
The files that you seek should have the characteristic red green arrows which form a circle look.

  • Can I change original source files in the project?

I have a project which has become very disorganized over the last year of editing due to PPs poor ability to effectively share sequences/projects across multiple computers. My assistant editor used a different computer and so the links in the sequences point to multiple "source" files in the project (some in imported folders). However, there is ultimately only one original video clip. The problem is that Premiere Pro won't allow me to delete the nested versions of the source files without also REMOVING the clips in each of the sequences that uses them. For example, the project folder looks like this:
    - Original File Folder
         -- videoClip-001.mov
    - Imported File Folder (imported on one of the many exchanges between editor and assistant editor)
         -- videoClip-001.mov
    - Sequence version 1 (Uses the second video clip, not the first - although they are ultimately the same video file)
If I delete the Imported File Folder, which only has a mirrored reference to the same video file as in the Original File Folder, then the clip in Sequence Version 1 dissapears. What I expect, rather, is to see a "missing media" message in the sequence so I can reconnect it to the version in the Original File Folder. But I can't. BIG HOLE in Premiere Pro CC.
Why do I want to do this? In a large project with hundreds of video clips, keeping order is very important. With the sequences using multiple "versions" of the same video clip, that order goes down the tubes and it becomes impossible to work.
    Thanks for your help.

I don't know of any way to clean up this project, but in the future, don't import the project, just import the sequence.  That will not create duplicates.

  • If you delete a large file from the mac hard drive does it also remove it from time machine on external hard drive

if you delete a large file from the mac hard drive does it also delete it from time machine on the external hard drive ?

As the others say, no, the backup copy won't be deleted immediately, but it will eventually.
If you want to delete all backups of a selected item, such as for space or security reasons, see #12 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.

  • How to add class file to the project in netbean

    Hi,
I am not sure if it is the right place to put the question. I just cannot find the way to add my existing java class file into the project in net bean.
    Anyone can help?
    Thanks a lot

Look at the "classpath" entry on the Index tab in NB's Help. There are entries there that explain how to add existing classes and libraries to a project.

    Chuck72352,
Hello! It is my understanding that you need to add the individual files to the Source Code Control along with the .lvproj file.
Here is a great deal of information on Source Code Control Practices in LabVIEW.

  • LabWindows/CVI 2013 SP2 stops working when I try to open a file using the project file menu.

I have windows 7 on my system and sometime late last year I starrted getting a Windows dialog telling me that LabWindows/CVI has stopped working when I try to open a file from the project file menu.  I also get an error when I run a project debug mode and use a selectFilePopup in the code.  The error says, "The program has suspended execution at address 0x75D5025E.  No source line information is available."  I've tried removing and reinstalling CVI to no avail.  Any suggestions?

    Constantin,
Thank you for your response.  I've attached screnshots showing the version details for kernal32.dll and ntdll.dll.  I also looked at the updates to see which might have been installed when the problem started.  Unfortunately there are 15-20 updates every month.  I didn't take note of when the error started to occur.  At first it only affected my ability to open files from within the project (i.e. file->open->Source, etc).  Then I went back to modify a project that had a SelectFilePopup and found that that wouldn't work either.

  • Import wmv file to the project -Premier CS5.5. I got a half screen black!!

Hi I tried to import a wmv file to the project as i do everyday with Premier CS5.5. I got a half screen black!! Is anyone know the reason for that?  Thanks!!!

It appears that Microsoft has issued the fixed update:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/security/bulletin/ms13-057
    See the "Update FAQ" section:
"Why was this bulletin revised on August 13, 2013?
Microsoft revised this bulletin to rerelease the 2803821 update for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2.
The rereleased update addresses an application compatibility issue in which WMV encoded video could fail to properly render during playback. Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 customers should install the rereleased update."

  • How can I delete hidden video files from the iPad?

How can I delete hidden video files from the iPad?  These files were created on my MBA and when I changed the media type to iTunesU and then copied it to my iPad via iTunes, they did not appear.  I can see them using 3rd party software, but they don't have delete functionality.
    Thanks
    York

Interesting note:  I can see the files when I use the search function, but when I tap either file, I return to my home screen.  The video does not open.  I can transfer the file to my MBA, and it plays fine, but I cannot figure out a way to delete them.

Yes, if it is something that was installed as part of OSX to start with.  If you're missing Onyx, well that isn't part of Apple's software and you'll have to get it from the source.
Depending upon the significance of the application there are ways do a custom installation of software rather than the whole operating system.  I use a much older operating system version so I cannot be very reliable on the specifics.

  • Multiple css files in the project

    Hi,
Iam working on a RH project which has files imported from
word. As a result a result I ended up with multiple .CSS files: one
.CSS file per Word document. The .CSS files are basically the same
so I would like to merge these into a single .CSS file and apply
this to all the topics in the project. Help for merging these files
would be appreciated. Also is there a way to to identify unused
styles and remove them from the project?
    Thank you.

  • Launching SWF file within the project - Video Avatar and Calculator

Hi There, I am somewhat new to Captivate so please bear with me. I am using Captivate 6.0 and have basic coding knowledge. I have a question about how to launch SWF files within my project. There are 2 things I am trying to accomplish.
    1. I have a video avatar that I want to use within my project. When a user clicks an icon or button on certain screens I want the appropriate video to launch within the same window. My video is an swf file but it can be another file type if that is better. Is this something that I can accomplish with Captivate 6.0?
    2. I have built a basic flash calculator - also an swf file - that I want the user to be able to launch on certain screens. When the user clicks a calculator button, the calculator would launch for the user to use, then the user would be able to close the calculator and return to the screen they were on.
Could someone direct me to some resources on how to accomplish this? If there are any widgets that would make this easier that would be great - but if I need to write some code I can try and do this if someone can direct down the right road. I have spent hours looking for information on this topic but can't find any (at least any that I understand)
    Please, and thank you!!!

    Rory,
Your Video is 720 x 480 @ 1.212 PAR, according to your screen-cap. In Photoshop (PS), go to Image New (Ctrl+N) and choose the NTSC 720 x 480 Widescreen 16:9 PAR 1.2. Once done, choose Image>PAR and Custiom, change 1.2 to 1.212 (this was a change in PrPro, and might not have yet made it into PS yet). Now, Open your full rez image. Ctrl+A (Select All), Ctrl+C (Copy), and then bring focus to your New Image. Hold Shift and Ctrl+V (Paste). This will put your image on a New Layer, Layer 1, in an Image with the correct dimensions and PAR. You can the Ctrl+T (Free Transform) and adjust the size of your Layer 1 image to suit. Holding down Shift while dragging the Handles of the Bounding Box will constrain the Aspect Ratio. Note, you might be cropping some of that image to fit the Aspect Ratio of your New Image. Anything outside of the Image boundries will effectly be cropped off. Note: you are NOT using the Crop Tool here, but letting the New Image Aspect Ratio effectively do the cropping (note no capitalization) for you. When satisfied with the result, you Delete the Background Layer (not necessary, but I do this to clean things up a bit), and Save_As .PSD to the proper folder.
With Scale to Fit turned OFF, Import_As Footage, this image and drag to the Timeline, making sure that Scale to Fit is OFF. It should be perfect then. Hope that this works for you and gets rid of the problem.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
