Deleted 75GB of files though it did not free space on drive?

I deleted over 75GB of files from my Macbook Pro (my iPhoto database) and when I Get Info on the hard drive it does not show that it freed up space, this is after I emptied the trash. Any ideas why?
Thanks.

iPhoto has it's own trash. You need to empty that. Right-click on the Trash "album" and select Empty Trash.
Or, select the Trash, and then click the Empty Trash button in the top-right of the window.

  • Failed to create zip file - did not free space

Hi,I tried to zip the inside of my camera folder and naturally did not have enough space.1. Creation of the zip file failed.2. Shows me that there is no more room left on device, i.e. the space was not freed.3. Can not locate the zip file it tried to create (it did not appear in the same folder as "camera" and can't find it anywhere else either). Can anyone help, please, can't copy files anywhere because no space left and don't want to delete anything. Thanks in advance,Dario

In regards to your original problem, but I can see two solutions without Link. 1, get an SD card and transfer some content over. The phone has finite space and this is the only way you can access storage from a computer without Link, so it is then only way to back up files (did I mention that is important yet?). 2, download Ghost Commander from the app world. It is a vastly more powerful file browser that can allow you to see your device storage particulars. I have none idea where a temporary ZIP file is located however, so this is not choice #1.

  • Dropping UNDO did not free space at OS level

    Hi,
As my UNDO tablespace grew very large, i had to drop it by creating a second UNDO tablespace and switching the database to use it. After i successfully dropped the first UNDO, the file systems, which hosted the datafiles of the first UNDO still shows that they are 100% full. I have checked the alert log and everthing looks perfectly fine with the following message
drop tablespace undotbs1 including contents and datafiles
    delted file '/u04/oradata/sunshine/undotbs1.dbf'
    deleted file '/u06/oradata/sunshine/undotbs1_1.dbf'
Completed: drop tablespace undotbs1 including contents and datafiles
Even the two datafiles 'undotbs1.dbf' and 'undotbs1_1.dbf' were deleted with the "drop tablespace ........" command itself.
Is it required to bounce the database for the changes to be reflected at the OS level?
    Any insight?
    THanks,
    Harris.

    Hi,
My Oracle version is 9.2.0.5 and i am running on Solaris 9. I have created a new UNDO tablespace UNDOTBS2 and dropped the old UNDO tablespace UNDOTBS1. After i issued the "drop tablespace UNDOTBS1 including contents and datafiles" it deleted the physical datafiles at the OS level too. I do not see any datafiles of the first dropped undo tablespace UNDOTBS1 in the directories specified i.e.,
    '/u04/oradata/sunshine/undotbs1.dbf'
    '/u06/oradata/sunshine/undotbs1_1.dbf'
So, the tablespace along with datafiles has been dropped (at the OS level too) with the "drop tablespace........" command itself. But, the file system still does not show the freed up space. I have altered the system to use the second undo tablespace UNDOTBS2 before dropping the first.
The second undo UNDOTBS2 has auto extend off, so there is no issue of this increasing to this much of size. The first undo tablespace that i dropped was around 15G of size and it has autoextend ON.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Harris.

  • Deleted files and pictures to open free space on HD.  But, the file volume went to backups.  I want to know how I could delete the backups.  I have already did a back up on my time machine. Thanks

I have deleted pictures and files to free space on my mac book air.  It did not free space and the backups file shows that even deting files it did not help.
Please let me know how to delete the files on backups folder.
    Thank you,
    Cristiane

    Have you emptied your trash?
    Finder Menu > Empty trash…
That will remove the items that were on the internal disk & were in the Trash.
What is the backup you are talking about? Is this a Time Machine backup?

  • Removed photos but did not free up memory, why?

My memory on my iphone 4S is low, so I deleted all my photos, but it did not free up the memory.  Can anyone help?

    David,
Thanks for the note. I looked up online and you are correct...the aspect ratio for my camera is indeed 4:3. I see in my camera settings where I can change the size of the photos but I've played around with that stuff and seen no difference in the aspect ratio.
I guess I'm stuck with what I've got?
I tried converting some of them with iphoto to a different aspect ratio and I don't think that's possible either.
    Thx.

  • My backed up files from iphone to my mac cannot be seen as they are, but only numbers and letters, they seem to be encrypted even though I did not click on encrypted when backing up

I am using a Mac Book Air to back up my Iphone 5 on Itunes. What I can see of the files are encrypted even though I did not click on the Encrypt box.
    Please, help.

Backups of an iPhone made using iTunes are stored in a format that is only meant for use in a restore and are not meant to be accessed directly. There are other methods of transferring things like photos and contacts to your computer such as iOS: Import personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer, iCloud: My Photo Stream FAQ, and https://www.apple.com/icloud/
If you absolutely must directly access an iTunes backup there is 3rd party extraction software available such as http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/ibackupextractor/

  • I deleted unwanted photos from my iPhoto library, emptied iPhoto trash & Finder trash... this did not free up disk space. please help!

I deleted unwanted photos from my iPhoto library, emptied iPhoto trash & Finder trash... this did not free up disk space. please help!
    I have a 15-inch MacBook Pro (Late 2011) with OS X Mavericks 10.9.5
Last week, my 500 GB Harddrive had 120 GB free space. I was feeling crumby and decided to make productive use of taking a day off to lounge around. I snuggled up with my laptop and dedicated hours to meticulously combing through my iPhoto Library. I had 13,000 pictures, and I got rid of those I didn't want. Having said "sayōnara" to about 6,500 pictures, I then emptied the iPhoto trash and the Finder trash. I took delight in the iconic paper crumpling sound of them vanishing into the digital void.
Everything seemed perfect: the photos I loved were still there, the photos I loathed were gone, both trashes were beautifully empty. Having thrown away all of those awful, boring, and unflattering images of poorly light lunches and selfies gone wrong, my iPhoto library was half the size as before! I felt renewed, a little lighter, somehow more free, and I expected my hard drive to be a bit different to.
I eagerly checked my storage stats. My heart sank to see that my 120 GB of free space, was still only 120 GB of free space. I restarted my MacBook; this did not help. I restarted it the next day; this also did not help. It's been 5 days and the hard drive still has 120 GB free space. This is not an emergency and it will probably be a good while before I clutter my laptop to the brim. Yet while I am glad I don't have to see cringeworthy pictures of my ex's unmentionables every time I'm showing off things I do want to remember, I'm still disappointed and now obsessed with solving this mystery.
What is going on? I don't see them, so where are they hiding? How do I get the free space I should have earned from throwing away 1,000's of photos?!

    Thank you, Terence!
Yes, I only emptied the trash when it was really full, once I waited until the trash cans contained 2,600 photos and then I emptied them - Oooops! In the future, I'll keep in mind your suggestion of deleting less than 100 photos at a time.
I downloaded the iPhoto Library Manager and used it to rebuild my iPhoto. After a few hours of rebuilding, it generated a new copy of my iPhoto Library. This versions was nearly identical to the original (it was missing 5 photos and was therefore only 5 mb smaller). I guess my Library wasn't defective.
I checked my storage stats, and interestingly, using iPhoto Library Manager did help with the problem that developed after I re-indexed my hard drive. My hard drive is able to properly recognize data categories again, instead of listing almost everything as "Other". Understandably, my free disk space changed from 120 GB to about 60 GB, because my hard drive now contained a second copy of my iPhoto Library as well as iPhoto Library Manager. It seemed like all I needed to do was throw these away, but when I emptied the trash, my problem was not solved. My Hard drive now looked like this:
It appears to me that when I empty the trash, the things I throw away are just hanging around as backups instead of leaving! I went into System Preferences and turned of my time machine OFF. Now my hard drive looks likes this:
The back ups of the iPhoto files, and the program which I deleted, are still on my hard drive some where but now they are listed as "Other" instead of "Backups". Do you know where they might be and how I can delete them for good?

  • I have just downloaded a trial version of Photoshop Elements onto my Mac Book Pro (10.9.4) and attempted to use Elements on an existing Photoshop file.  I did not see the Elements option in my filter menu and need assistance

I have just downloaded a trial version of Photoshop Elements onto my Mac Book Pro (10.9.4).  The installation to my hard drive went fine so I attempted to use Elements on an existing Photoshop file.  I did not see the Elements option in my filter menu and am uncertain as to how to "add" the Elemnts to my existing filter choices.  Please advise.

I'm sorry but it's very hard to understand what you mean. What filter menu? In which program? Do you mean you're trying to use PSE as an external editor with some other asset management program? Which one?

    I don't think you're on iOS 5, I think you're using iOS 6.  That's the latest version.
Unless you've used iCloud to back up your documents, you won't be able to restore them.  And for future reference, you don't have to uninstall Pages to update your iPad anymore.  Sorry about this.

Hallo! How can i delete my files wich are saved not on the C: drive?

I'm guessing there must be more to this question than you are stating.
But to answer the question you asked, if you want to delete files that are not on the C drive, select the files and then delete them (press the Delete key, and then Delete from Hard Disk or not, your choice)

  • F.05 -   why the entries are being reversed even though I did not tick the

    Hi,
Please advice why the entries are being reversed even though I did not tick the reversal button in F.05.
Your assitance is very much appreciated.

    Hi,
It is a standard SAP procedure by which the revaluation entries are automatically reversed. If you do not want to reverse the revaluation entries, you will have to Activate Delat Logic for the Valuation Area. SPRO Path is Financial Accounting (New)--> General Ledger Accounting (New) > Periodic Processing> Valuate --> Activate Delta Logic.
Once you activate this Delta Logic, at the time of fc valuation, you will get the check box for Annual or Mid Term revalation will come. If you select the annual option, the automatic reversal will not happen.
