Deleted "sites" folder

how to replace index.html? i tried just copying and pasting from another user, but it links it to http://localhost/~otheruser not to my user account. i'm just trying to learn the whole website thing... but i need my sites folder back!

Choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu and enter /System/Library/User Template/ as the folder's location. From here, locate the copy of the Sites folder in the localized home folder template and drag this folder into your home folder. Items in this folder are used when new accounts are set up in the Accounts pane of System Preferences, and you can collect individual parts if needed.

  • I cant delet a folder where i store sites.

I create folders like "social sites" to put all my folders for social sites. Or "things of interest" and i put a lot of sites i need to come back to and do research on. But i made a folder and its taking up space now. I deleted all the site on it, and of course i deleted the name on the folder...but now its just sitting there, and it wont go away no matter what i do. I need it to create a little more space on my browser. I mean, i cant even add sites or change its name because it wont save it. This has been happening for a while, i have been waiting for an update on firefozx to fix it but know i see its not helping...any tips or help would be amazing guys! I just want to delete this folder from my browser.

No its not a MAIN bookmark folder...like i said i create folders all the time and erase them accordingly, i just left click and add new folder...then i edit its name, and add links to it so i can go back to it later. And i have done it a lot of times, and deleted some of them ( i just deleted one a few hours ago). But there is one folder that wont get deleted, i created it, but i cant delete it, its just stubbornly sitting there and wont budge. i even tried the bookmarks> organize..thing and anything i could think of.

  • Help!  I deleted a folder, and now my iPod doesn't work!

Being the new owner of an iPod, I was unaware that I was required to use iTunes to manage data. Instead, I browsed the iPod's files using Windows Explorer and manually deleted a folder of pictures. Now my iPod no longer works; it displays a link to the Apple support site. My computer no longer recognizes the iPod (once it is connected, it displays the removable drive in My Computer, but doesn't show up in iTunes. iPod Updater freezes when the iPod is connected.), so I cannot restore it. Please help!
    PC Windows XP Pro

had the same problem aswell mate, dont worry its not too complicated
1st step is to get ur ipod into disk mode and open my computer. once here right click on removable disk and select format. if this works that means ur computer is atleast responding to your ipod and the problem should be over and done with.
if that doesnt work goto step 2
step 2 is, when you turn your ipod on does it make any sounds??? if it makes some beeps and little sounds you have a problem with your hard disk in the ipod. not to worry if your ipods new its under warranty and you can send it back.
step3 is to call apple on 1-800-275-2273 between 9 am and 9pm. follow the prompts and talk to a consultant.
the same thing happened to me, so everything above is what i was told from an ipod consultant. good luck and dont stress.

Please note: I am able to delete the files in the folder. The issue is only with the folder itself and all folders within this folder.

  • Deleted site, but still have the files

ok, i had 2 websites in iweb. no problem, i was publishing to folders then uploading to a non .mac site. finally got .mac and uploaded my site, but it kept doing both, so i deleted the one i didn't wan ton .mac and assumed i could take the published to a folder files and add them later back into iweb.
is this possible? or do i need to redo everything?

    Mary,
Mount your iDisk, and navigate to your iWeb folder:
    Go/iDisk/MyiDisk/Web/Sites/iWeb/yoursitesarehere
Drop your Site folder here. (Into the iWeb folder) iWeb publishes two things separately when you publish to a folder; an index.html file, and the Site folder itself. Just place the Site folder into your iWeb folder. (Don't modify or change it's contents) There is already an index.html file for your main iWeb folder/Site's folder(s) on your iDisk, if you still have your other site on .Mac.
You can then visit your site at:
http://web.mac.com/username/iWeb/YourSiteName (as seen in the Site Organizer in iWeb.)

  • Delete site in upgrading to Leopard

Hoping someone can help please. In upgrading to Leopard I accidently deleted my iWeb site from the sites folder. Is there a way do download it back from my .mac account?
    Thanks

I just went thru exactly what you did. There were some things that were kept in my iDisk after I wiped my laptop. My photos were still there and some other stuff. I found it easy to create a new site, though it took three hours. If you go to your site on the web, you can select and copy some things and drop them into the new site in iWeb. Just make sure not to publish until you have copied everything you need from the webpage. You'll lose it when you publish the new one.

  • How to I delete a folder in Contribute 3?

How do I delete a folder in Contribute? It is easy enough to
delete files, but I can't see any way of deleting folders on the
    web site.

I'm pretty sure that's beyond contribute. It's just meant to
be a simple content management solution, not a site management
    solution.

  • I'm unable to delete a folder on my OS X 10.6.8 iMac...

I have a folder on my startup drive that will not delete. I can issue the command "rm -rf dir_7171197" as root, and the prompt comes back with no errors, but the folder is still there.  My question is, what are the reasons a file is not able to be deleted?  I can change the name of the folder  but I can't move the folder into the parent, and I can't put it in a child folder.  If I attempt to trash the parent, it just sits there in the trash can and never deletes.  There are no additional attributes assigned to either the folder itself or the parent.

    Here are the facts:
/Macintosh HD/delete-me is where the folder aaa is that can't be deleted.
The permissions on the folder to delete is:
    imac24:delete-me root# ls -ld aaa
    drwxrwxrwx  2 mercylife  wheel  68 Aug 11  2011 aaa
    imac24:delete-me root#
The delete-me folder has the following privs:
    imac24:Macintosh HD root# ls -ld delete-me
    drwxrwxrwx  4 mercylife  wheel  136 Mar 21 23:54 delete-me
    imac24:Macintosh HD root#

Creative Cloud app shows me just blank page with no option to log in untill I delete OOBE folder.
    It's this folder:

I have no idea how to permanently fix it.

  • Missing Sites folder - apache

I have had a few problems with the apache built into mac but I think I am closer to the answer, I think I have some how deleted the user/yorkichadwick/Sites folder which is why I get site not found on server.
The Sites folder is still there but I realised all this when I did a ls -ld ~/Sites/
    and I was told
ls: /Users/yorkiechadwick/Sites/: No such file or directory
How can I replace this missing directory?

Thank you, I had been getting advice from so many forums and really thought I had screwed up apche until today when I came acroos this error. I till had a sites folder but it wasn't working who would have thought that such a simple solution would be to create a new sites folder and just shift the files. It is a miracle it worked. So much for all the command line, terminal tapping investigation everyone had been pointing me to.

  • Can not delete corrupted folder

    Hi there,
I'm using SharePoint Foundation 2010 and am having problem with one of the site collections.
It's a simple 'Team site'. The problem is that I can not delete the certain folder, which seems to be corrupted.
    Symptoms:
if I try to delete it I receive error "Access Denied", even though I use farm admin account.
if I try to 'Manage permissions', I receive error "Can not complete this action".
if I try to 'Edit Properties' (rename library) I receive error "Access Denied".
    'View Properties' works good.
Looking in WebDav, the folder doesn't exist.
if I try to create a new folder with the same name within the same root library, I receive error that folder already exists.
    Steps taken:
    1. the entire site collection was backed up (using Backup-SPSite) and restored (Restore-SPSite) to the newly-created site collection within another Web App
and content database - the corrupted folder was carried over and the issue remained the same.
    2. tried to use .NET methods to delete this folder but received error:
    $rabbit = Get-SPWeb "https://site1.sharepoint.local/BD"
    $damaged_folder = $rabbit.GetFolder("Services/Technical Team/Mit")
    attempted to delete:
    PS C:\Windows\system32> $damaged_folder.Delete()
Exception calling "Delete" with "0" argument(s): "Cannot remove file "Mit". Error Code: 16389."
attempted to move to Recycle Bin:
    PS C:\Windows\system32> $damaged_folder.Recycle()
Exception calling "Recycle" with "0" argument(s): "Cannot remove file "Mit". Error Code: 16389."
Looking at the properties of $damaged_folder, I've noticed that property 'EffectiveRawPermissions' was blank, while for the normal folder it was set to 'FullMask'
I've tried to update it but received an error:
    PS C:\Windows\system32> $damaged_folder.EffectiveRawPermissions = "FullMask"
    "EffectiveRawPermissions" is a ReadOnly property.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    I am facing the same
    problem.
I tried to delete the folder with a powershell command and with a console application. The result is :
Exception calling "Delete" with "0" argument(s): "Cannot remove file "Folder". Error Code: 16389."
    At line:1 char:77
    + [Microsoft.SharePoint.SPSecurity]::RunWithElevatedPrivileges({$folder.Delete<<<< ()})
        + CategoryInfo          : NotSpecified: (:) [], MethodInvocationException
        + FullyQualifiedErrorId : DotNetMethodException
The last possibility it's maybe to remove lines on the database!
    Does anyone has triedthis solution?
    Thanks in adavance.

  • Mail:Cannot erase messages from Deleted Messages folder located on my mac

    Hi,
I recently ran a script to discover that I have hundreds of thousands of messages sitting in the Deleted Messages folder located on my mac. I tried to erase them but no luck, no error messages of any kind but the messages are still there. Can anyone help with me with this as these unwanted messages are taking up a lot of space. I have run a disk verify just to check permissions etc and all is ok.
    Many thanks

    Hi,
Many thanks for you reply. Yes it looked like the deleted messages from an old exchange account I had had were sitting in a folder on my mac and this was visible in the sidebar. However it was not simply called deleted messages it was named deleted messages (xxx xxx) where xxx xxxx was the name of the old mailbox. So when I went to mailbox to erase deleted messages this folder was not picked up. So I moved everything in the folder to the trash folder (took a long time) and then selected the option to erase trash on quitting. It took hours and hours when I quit mail but I left it running overnight and now the folder is empty and mail is functioning ok. Thanks again for your help

  • How do I get a deleted site back?

When I was trying to follow the directions to only publish one of my sites to my MobleMe account, it told me to delete the other site and publish. However what it did not say is that you would not be able to get the old site back ... EVER! Now a site that took me 2 years to build and get it right for work is gone. I have tried to go to the domain file, but the domain file just comes up as the one site that I did not delete. Is there anyone who can help me get back the site that I lost. I have a copy of it published to a folder on my desktop but that is the only copy of the information I have. To my knowledge, you cannot import html files into iWeb to edit. Why would apple make it so easy to delete an entire site and have no way to get it back.
Please to anyone that can help ... I am desperate to get this back without having to recreate a 2 year long project.
    Thank you

Try going to your iDisk/Web/Sites folder, locate the site folder and copy it to your desktop. In it will be the image files used in the site. You can use those in recreating your site.
Putting a transparent shape over a photo won't prevent a view from getting a copy. If they drag the photo to the desktop it will be at the pixel dimensions that it displayed with on the site. Not very big. If you put a transparent shape over it the viewer can take a screenshot of the photos and get a file with the same pixel dimensions. Add the transparent shapes just makes it only slightly more difficult for the view to get a copy, albeit a very, low resolution one, and can make your page load slower.
The best way to identify photos as your own is to watermark the. You can use a 3rd party editor or one of the many watermarking applications available at VersionTracker.com.
