I cannot log on to my Comcast e-mail from my IMac anymore.  This is a new issue, recently I had to delete cookies from my system in order so my email wasn’t frozen, but over the past few days it has went from bad to worse.  I am able to enter my login information, but it just goes right back to the home page.  Any suggestions…maybe I deleted something else in the process.

OK, restart in Safe Mode, this will clear some caches. It's possible one or more is corrupt. To restart in Safe Mode when you hear the start up tone hold down the Shift Key until you see a progress bar. Let it fully boot then restart normally and test.
Also I am assuming you have checked Finder - Preferences  - General and see what boxes are checked in "Show these items on desktop." You can also mount an item in Disk Utility, simply highlight it and then look in the File menu for Mount.....

I recently deleted cookies from my computer and now I can't access any of the sites i used to use with usernames/passwords. even after requesting ne wpasswords etc. the pages just keep resetting

If you are using Safari, empty the Safari cache.
With Safari open, press Command + Option + E on your keyboard.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

  • How can I prevent deleted cookies from coming back?

I have deleted cookies via preferences -  security - show cookies - erase all cookies
But after some minutes they all show up again. What can I do to delete them completely?
    Thanks for your help!

Cookies can come from sites that a person hasn't visited neither, and Facebook is tracking users of web sites they visit even AFTER they have logged out of FaceBook.
Safari likely recreates the cookies even after a user deletes them because of HTML 5, or perhaps with TopSites. Just started occuring too, like in the last few issues.

HTML 5 is bringing a whole host of spyware possibilities...

Also there is a thing called a Evercookie, which is based in Javascript and can recreate cookies from any other cookie already on the machine.

One has to use Firefox and the add-ons called Click&Clean, BetterPrivacy along with Ghostery, Ad Block Plus.
NoScript to prevent scripts from running automatically, one has to drag a "Temporaily Allow" button up to the toolbar to click it on "safe" sites.
I trust the independent developers working to keep their FF add-ons current to combat the latest privacy threats, as Firefox is more "the browser for the users" than any other.
It's getting insane trying to keep one's machine clean, and iOS users have no chance in heck as they are closed devices.

  • How do I delete cookies from Safari 8.0 without the GUI?

I have Safari 8.0 (10600.1.25.1) on OS X 10.10.1 (14B25) (Yosemite). When I quit Safari completely (actually quit, not just close the window), and delete the following things using the following.
    rm -r ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/
    rm -r ~/Library/Cookies
    rm -r ~/Library/Safari
When I restart Safari, the cookies are still there and I'm still logged in to a website that stored a cookie after login.
Which files do I need to delete or what do I have to do to get Safari to actually delete the cookies?
I need to be able to move/rename the files/directories and then move them back at a later time...
    thanks!

You should be able to export bookmarks from Safari by using File > Export Bookmarks and choosing where to put the file. Then open Firefox bookmarks window from "Show All Bookmarks" and import the file you saved from Safari.

  • Why can't I delete cookies from my iMac anymore?

The "show cookies" and "remove them" options are no longer showing in the Safari preferences menu, and it's no longer a part of the "Reset Safari".  Did Apple remove them and leave us stuck with unwelcome cookies for the rest of the iMac's life?

Sounds like you have a lot of persistent (i.e. self-regenerating) cookies.
To begin with, block Flash Cookies (Locally Stored Objects). In System Preferences / Other / Flash Player, check the option to "block all sites..."
Then hit the Delete All button. (Have a look first under the settings button if you wish)
    That will take care of one kind of persistent cookie, but you should also read these articles;
    http://ashkansoltani.org/docs/respawn_redux.html
    http://samy.pl/evercookie/
I would also recommend Little Snitch, which will allow you to block Safari and other apps from contacting those sites.

  • How do I stop "delete cookies" from deleting saved games of a flash based game?

    I'm running Firefox 4 under Windows 7.
I have it currently set to delete my history when I end the session, including cookies and temporary files. This is due to privacy concerns.
However, I also have a (downloaded - not run online or via a browser) flash based game on my computer - which saves games as LSOs.
Firefox therefore deletes my saved games when I exit.
How can I address my privacy concerns and still play this game?

I am having a problem where my flash game saves are deleting themselves on their own. I don't even have to clear browsing history, and I do not have any cleaning software installed. I have set storage to unlimited and that worked for a few days but I loaded a game this evening and my save file was gone and the storage had been reset to 100kB. I haven't touched anything, haven't deleted anything. It's infuriating.

  • Does Firefox have a setting for retaining cookies similar to the 'Preserve Favorites website data' setting found in I.E. so you do not delete cookies from favorited websites when deleting your browsing history?

In I.E. when you want to delete your browsing history, the Internet Options tab allows you to retain the cookies for the websites that are listed in your 'Favorites'. With this preference enabled, you can delete your browsing history regularly without having to maintenance your cookies that you need. My bank requires that I register my computer for security reasons. The registration process places a cookie on PC. My browsing history is set to delete upon logout and I'm concerned that I will have to re-register my PC every time I log in or I will have to maintenance my browsing history every time I clear it. Does Firefox provide a feature so I can retain certain cookies that I want to keep?

If you use [[Clear Recent History]] or other means to clear (all) cookies then those specified cookies will be removed, even if there is an allow exception.
You can let all cookies expire if you close Firefox and make an Allow exception for the ones that you want to keep.
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Keep until": "I close Firefox"
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Exceptions"
Make sure that you do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the "Cookies" and the "Site Preferences"

  • Delete cookie from developer tools storage tab

Using Firefox Developer Edition. Why doesn't the Storage .. Cookies list not allow me to change delete the cookies?

That is currently a read-only page, so you can't remove cookies or edit items in other storage types.

Note that you can also use the 'cookie list' command in the Developer toolbar to inspect cookies

  • Can you help me with problems from latest update of Safari and ITunes.  I can no longer delete cookies as I once did, because the security tab no longer displays the show cookies option. Can anyone please help?

I can no longer show or delete cookies from my MacBook Pro, since installing the latest update of Safari and Itunes..  Previously, I went to the security tab and clicked on the show cookies option, then opted to delete..  That option has now diappeared and a completely different security tab appears.  The tab does not show a cookies option anywhere.
Also, I can no longer see a list of my software applications without opening system profiler.
Sure would appreciate your help.  Thanks.

Safari's cookies is broken, either intentionally or it's a bug.
You can search the forums for
    safari cookies lion

If you need control over your browser cookies and other aspects of your web browser, I suggest you install Firefox.

  • When I delete a cookie from the "show cookies" window, how can I get that cookie to automatically go to the exeptions list?

Desired behavior: I used to be able to delete cookies from the "show cookies" window and they would automatically show up in the exceptions list and be blocked in future sessions.
Undesired behavior: Now, on a new install, I can delete the cookies from the "show cookies" window but they do not show up in the exceptions list.

  • Deleting Cookies

    Hello,
Is CRM E-Commerce Complaint with Deleting Cookies from the web browser.
Or is there any way to manage the Cookies in CRM E-Commerce?
    With Regards,
    Girish.V.Bhat

    Hello Girish,
the SAP J2EE-Engine (NW Java-Stack) provides two options for session handling:
    1) Cookies
    2) URL rewrite
The default is cookie session handling. When you are logged in a CRM E-Commerce application and delete the cookies in your browser the session is lost. (The E-Commerce session cookie is deleted)
Session handling does not depend on cookies if you use the URL rewrite option. This documentation describes how configure session tracking with URL rewrite for a Java web application:

  • Why has the option to delete cookies on quit been eliminated from preferences in Firefox 12

The "Privacy" preferences panel no longer offers the option to delete cookies on quit, as it did in Ffx 6, the version I updated from. Has this option been moved elsewhere? Has it been eliminated? If it has been eliminated, what is the last version that offers it? Could you please give me a '''specific, working''' URL where I can download the latest version that allows setting a "delete on quit" policy for cookies.
If Firefox puts the user first, why are your "updates" dumming down on user-settable options, especially one as important as an easy and convenient way to prevent cookies from hanging around till the next ice age. I realize I can manually delete cookies, but this is a pain in the rear, especially since I am missing most of my fingers. All those extra strokes that the ten fingered world dismisses as trivial really add up when you have only 2.5 fingers and one eye.

Your image shows "Firefox will Remember History".
It has a dropdown arrow which usually shows -
"Firefox will Never Remember History" and, what you need,
"Firefox will Use Custom Settings". This opens a range of options.
Is this pair of dropdown arrows not working?
