Deleting members in a hierarchy

Hi All
The hierarchy for a particular dimension has been created and members have been used in web forms. We need to recreate the total hierarchy of this dimension.If i try deleting the member manually , it throws an error that it is being used in webforms , hence cannot be deleted. Kindly suggest as to how to recreate the hierarchy without deleting the webforms.

Hi,
You can take the export of all the data forms using FormDefUtil.cmd, from which you will get .xml file for that data form.
Once you export all the data forms you can delete the data forms and delete the dimension members and load them accordingly.
Later you can import all your data forms using FormDefUtil.cmd utility in to the application.

FM for deleting Component from Ibase Hierarchy

Hi,
Is there any FM for deleting Component from Ibase Hierarchy.
I have tried using the FM "CRM_IBASE_COMP_DELETE", it is anyway deleting the component from the hierarchy but not those component
whose is already assigned to a Contract.
I have read these similar thread of only deleting a component but it was not very helpful in my scenario.
In CRM, standard way of removing the component from Ibase Hierarchy is to "CUT" the component and save. The mentioned component will not
be seen in Ibase hierarchy.
So is there any FM which can actually remove or cut the component from the hierarchy even though it is assigned to any contract etc.

Mine is Interface scenario in which the call will be instantaneous.
I have tried to dismantle the component also, but it will be remain present in Ibase hierarchy even though it is associated to any contract or not with dismantle sign in it's hierarchy .
I want to cut it so that it will not remain in Ibase hierarchy, it can be present in CRM system.

How to only display specific members from dissimilar hierarchy levels?

I have a Business Partner that routinely wants to build a report that displays members from dissimilar hierarchy levels. For example, she wants to display member "210_UNASSIGNED EXP/ACC" from level 8 and member "E090_ADVISOR SERVICES" from level 1. When she filters on just those two members, the reports displays as such:
She then must manually expand the "E020_CORPORATE AND EXECUTIVE" member 7 times to see "210_UNASSIGNED EXP/ACC":
Is there anyway to make her life easier and have the report display only the "210_UNASSIGNED EXP/ACC" member and the "E090_ADVISOR SERVICES" member, even though they are from different levels?

Displaying information from mixed hierarchy levels without the context of the parent members is a reporting workflow best suited to WebI and CR. The AOLAP content can be exported as an Analysis View and then this becomes a data source for WebI and CR.
Our previous product Voyager used to allow member selection from mixed levels without the context of parent members but it caused a lot of confusion and misinterpretation of the data, which is why we deliberately do not have it in AOLAP.
Worth noting that BI4.1 was a big release for AOLAP with many enhancements. One is "Expand to Level". So instead of having to click 7 times to expand the hierarchy, it now just requires one mouse right-click to do the same thing.

How to delete a cost center hierarchy

Hi all,
We are having a issue regarding the cost centers. The cost centers have been assigned wrong cost center numbers. Now the client wants a set of new cost center numbers to be used in the system. In order for that to be done I thought may be if I can change the cost center hierarchy that has been assigned to the controlling area in OKKP transaction we can assign new cost centers to the new hierarchy and solve the problem.
But the system does not allow us to assign a different cost center hierarchy from the already existing one when cost centers are assigned to it.
My issue is how to delete the cost center hierarchy.
If that is not possible how can we remove the cost centers assigned to the cost center hierarchy ( is this possible)
Last question can we delete the transaction data posted to cost centers.
Points will be assigned to all the replies.

Hello Sarada,
If the requirement is to track new cost centers only going forward, then you may need to create new Cost Centers, block old cost centers. Create a new node in the hierarchy saying "Old-do not use".
If the requirement is to have the history transactions reflect the new cost centers as well, then you will need to undertake a project for SLO (System Landscape Optimization) which will replace this data at table level. This is a major project in itself and the programs are proprietary to SAP.

Deleting members in EPMA via ADS

Is there a way to delete members in EPMA with an ads upload? If so, can you please tell me the format/syntax? I need to delete hundreds of members and do not want to do it by hand. I cannot replace the metadata because that would break all of planning's custom settings. Thanks!

While importing the ads file after deleting the members that have to be deleted, you may use the replace mode.
While using replace mode, any members or member relationships that are not specified in the source are removed from the Shared Library or target application. You can also use replace mode to reorder members under a parent. Properties not included in the source are unchanged in the Shared Library or target application.

ODI KM for Deleting members in Hyperion Finance

I am trying to write Knowledge Module in ODI for deleting members in Hyperion Finance. But not finding any API method for delete and no documentation on that. Please share if someone have sample about delete on hyperion finance.

It is possible using the standard IKM SQL to Hyperion Planning.
I did it using an Update to the Planning Metadata Dimension and passing a value to the Operation column.
I got the following information regarding the Operation column from the HAL documentation.
Operation—takes any of the following values:
<ul><li>Update - adds, updates, or moves the member being loaded
</li>
<li>Delete Level 0 - deletes the member being loaded if it has no children
</li>
<li>Delete Idescendants - deletes the member being loaded and all of its descendants
</li>
<li>Delete Descendants - deletes the descendants of the member being loaded, but does not delete the member itself</li>
</ul>
The default is Update.
Note: If you delete a member, that member, its data, and any associated planning units are permanently removed and cannot be restored.

Limit on deleting members from workspace

Hello,
I wanted to know if there is a limit on how many members that can be deleted at once from a dimension in a classic planning application. I know that there is a parameter in the outline load utility that would delete the entire dimension and would load the members from scratch from the metadata file you specify. But is there was a better way of deleting the required members apart from using the outline load utility parameter and deleting from the workspace?
We are trying to cleanup our metadata and also trying to delete some members from a dimension but it looks like it is taking ~ 40 mins for deleting ~ 3000 records. Does this sound reasonable?
Also, I am seeing some strange and unexpected behavior while performing these operations. When I am selecting a parent member (that has ~ 3000 child members) and hitting delete, it would show like it's doing something in the status bar on the browser but after a while it would disappear and the page doesnt refresh. It is neither showing the success message nor is it showing any error which is confusing as it's not telling me if it did the delete or if it didn't do the delete. So, when this happened I went and checked the dimension and the parent level member was still in there without getting deleted. Then I tried deleting a different parent member and then encountered an error after a while saying -
An error occured while processing the page. Please check the logs for details.* (Can someone please let me know what's the name of the log file that I need to look and where?)
Another time it threw an error -
You are trying to change data that has been changed by a user on another server. Wait a few seconds and try again. If you continue to see this error message please contact your administrator.*
So basically I am seeing all sorts of different things happening and the deletion process is not going smoothly.
Please share your thoughts on this.

Depeding upon your version the log file location will vary.
in 11.1.2.x version you can check the logs under
<epm drive>:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\epmsystem1\diagnostics\logs\services\HyS9Planning-sysout.log
<epm drive>:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\epmsystem1\diagnostics\logs\services\HyS9Planning-syserr.log

you can also mention an operation with outline load to delete (update which will update the members, delete level 0, delete idescendants, delete descendants)

Cannot delete members in a planning application with version 9.3.0.1

Hi Gurus, this is a planning 9.3.0.1 version.
One of our dimension completely changed (Entity Dimension). We are planning to completely delete Entity in the Planning web and re-create with the new entity members.
I have developed the HAL integration and its working. However, When I try to delete the members from the entity Dimension, it takes a long time and comes with a error page. Sometimes it deletes... sometimes it just doesnt get deleted. We will be doing this in Production this Friday and I want to be absolutely sure that I can delete the dimension and also to find out why is this causing the issue.
please help asap...

Limit dimension to members of particular hierarchy

I have a dimension say dim1 which has two hierarchy h1 and h2.
I want to limit my dimension to have members present in only h1 hierarchy.
How can I do this?

Assuming that your AW was defined using AWM or OWB (i.e. it is standard form), then you should find two additional objects related to your dimension -- the INHIER valueset and the HIERLIST dimension. For example, if your dimension is named PRODUCT, then you should find
DEFINE PRODUCT_HIERLIST DIMENSION READONLY LOCKDFN TEXT
DEFINE PRODUCT_INHIER VALUESET READONLY LOCKDFN PRODUCT <PRODUCT_HIERLIST>
(These are 11g definitions -- the 10g versions do not have READONLY LOCKDFN.
The PRODUCT_HIERLIST contains one member for each hierarchy of the dimension, 'H1' and 'H2' say. To limit the dimension to just members in H2 you can say
LIMIT PRODUCT TO PRODUCT_INHIER(PRODUCT_HIERLIST 'H2')

Deleting members from Planning application

Hi everyone,
I need to delete about 600 members from a planning application. I dont want to clean up the load file and do the reaload once again. Is there a way I can delete load a file with just 600 members and they get deleted from the outline?

Thanks John for sharing your opinion. One of the senior consultants helped me out with this. The solution was fairly simple -
All the 600 members were children of different parents. So it was difficult to cherry-pick all of them. What we did is, we created a load file with 600 members (to be deleted from outline). We put those 600 members under one parent; somewhat like this
TempParent    member1*
TempParent    member2*
+.+
+.+
TempParent    member600*
Once I loaded this file to through load utility, it grabbed all those 600 members from their previous positions and placed them under TempParent*. Then I deleted TempParent.
Although I would like to know more about the solution you suggested. Is there an example on web that you can refer me to ??

Delete Members from Planning web Using HAL

Hi All,
I have loaded approx 150 members under a Custom dimension (Customer..All of them are level 0 with never share property) using HAL. I haven't refreshed to essbase. Now I would like to delete these all 150 members and need to load fresh customer dimension members.
The issue is how can I delete all the loaded 150 members from Planning. ( Its very time consuming to delete 150 members from Planning web) Can that be done using HAL.

Yes it can be done with HAL, you would just supply the parent,member a source file and then set the operation port to "Delete Descendants"
e.g.
Parent,Child,Operation
Acc1,Acc12,Delete Descendants
The operation should be able to use the following values
* Update - adds, updates, or moves the member being loaded
* Delete Level 0 - deletes the member being loaded if it has no children
* Delete Idescendants - deletes the member being loaded and all of its descendants
* Delete Descendants - deletes the descendants of the member being loaded, but does not delete the member itself

Which is the exact version of SQL Server 2012. Did you applied on any SP or CU?
I am not able to repro on SQL Server 2014 which code is same as SQL Server 2012 with all the packs.
I created an entity with explicit hierarchy and derived hierarchy. I can drag the leaf from one node to the other. So I am wondering if it is something already fixed in the later SQL 2012 SP/CUs.

Problems deleting members in EAS ASO

I am in the process of deleting certain members and hierarchies in as ASO cube via EAS. There are 2 out of 14 hierarchies that I am not able to delete. When deleting (using right click, Delete) on either of these 2 hierarchies, or any of their members, I get one of two results, 1. the blue wheel spinning for hours, or, 2. A warning "EAS Server not responding". The 2nd result is followed by EAS crashing and requiring s restart. Any ideas?
