Dell crafts mother of all graphics cards

This should handle Photoshop!

Doesn't matter, length over function!
As for the article, that isn't a video card, it's a whole blade server. If you want to see a crazy video card then check out the Asus Mars2:

  • Tip for ALL Graphics cards running under Windows

    PLEASE STICKY THIS
This is a really useful tip for anyone running windows ME or XP.
It doesn't matter what card your installing and it really helped me out once.
    Use System Restore
System restore is a simple utility Microsoft came up with for things like registry changes or putting new hardware/software in.
All you have to do is:
    1. Set up system restore to monitor the hard drives or partitions you want it too. This can simply be done by going to start>all programs (or program files)>accessories>system setup>system restore. Once the window has opened choose system restore settings and from here you can change what hard drives are monitored and how much disk space restore can use.
    2. Before you make a change to your card (whether it be drivers or putting a card in) open up system restore as in step '1' but choose create restore point. The system may hang for a minute then you will be told a restore point has been made.
    3. Now any change you make to anything to do with the operating system will be noted by windows and the unchanged vesion will be kept in that hard drive space you specified in step '1'
    4. Should the drivers screw up your system you can boot in safe mode (by hammering F8 between POST and OS loading screen) and when a dialog box comes up saying you have started in safe mode choose to run system restore.
NOTE: BIOS changes can NOT be undone in system restore, and if your computer won't boot at all your  ed!!!
System restore should not be used if your computer is running ok, or if you can resolve the issues by changing drivers, using system restore can bring back spyware, viruses and trojans! If there is a power failure or your PC crashes when running system restore yu may need to format your hard drive.

Most video driver related problems can be solved by uninstalling the old drivers, rebooting, and cancelling the "found new hardware" dialog before running the new driver installer.

  • Is nVidia Geforce GT640 good graphics card for PrE10 despite low memory bandwidth?

Can anybody confirm that the nVidia Geforce GT640 is a reasonable graphics card for Premiere Elements 10 and Photoshop Elements 10?
The person who assembled my Core i7 3770K desktop with 16Gb of RAM at 1600mHz installed the nVidia GT640 card with 2Gb of DDR3 memory. He said that this was a good (fairly low cost) card for video editing because it has 384 CUDA cores - very helpful in video editing. I am pretty ignorant about graphics cards, but like the low power usage, 65 watts, and reputed cool operating temperatures. I have since read that DDR5 memory would have been much faster because of greater memory bandwidth - say 80-90Gb per second compared with 28.5Gb per second for the DDR3 memory on the GT640 card. I was after economical power use. DDR5 cards use 110 watts upwards and run much hotter than DDR 3 cards, all other things being equal. The really fast cards require special power units and cooling.
Does anybody know whether limited memory bandwidth is important in video editing? Is speed much more critical in gaming than in video editing? Are other attributes such as 384 CUDA cores, nvenc syncing, dedicated encodment, 28nm Kepler architecture, 2Gb memory frame buffer, 1.3 billion transistors, plenty of texture units -  more important than memory bandwidth in video editing? Does bandwidth limited by DDR3 memory affect quality of image?
I read that the GT640 would be much faster (producing better image quality?) than the HD4000 integrated Intel graphics of the Core i7 Ivy Bridge processor. Is this so?
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit and all programs are installed on a 120Gb OCZ Agility 3 solid state drive. My data drive is a 1Tb Seagate SATA 3 at 7200 RPM. I have a beautiful 21 inch ASUS vs228n LED monitor and LG blu-ray burner.
I did lots of editing with PrE 3 with a Dell 3.06 gHz hyperthreading desktop and Win XP. The output and even the preview monitoring was clear and stable. I am still capturing standard definition mini dv tape by firewire from a 3MOS Panasonic handycam, but plan to upgrade to HD 3MOS with flash memory. I make the preview monitor really small - about 7cm wide - in PR10, because the quality of the preview picture is much poorer than the quality that I experienced with the Premiere Elements 3 program with Win XP. Is this just an indication of memory-saving in PrE 10 previews? I expect output to be much superior, although still mpeg2-DVD quality until I upgrade my camera. I have set rendering on maximum bitrate.
Anyway, despite these reservations with preview quality, the GT640 seems to be performing fine. Picture quality in Photoshop, online and elsewhere on my computer is excellent.
I updated the nVidia display driver only yesterday to version 306.23.
Nearly all graphics cards forums are about gaming. I hope to see more forums about graphics in editing here.
What do you think of the 2Gb nVidia GT640 for editing with PrE 10 and Photoshop Elements 10? What would you say about picture quality in the PrE 10 monitor versus quality of output? Was picture quality in the PrE 3 monitor sharper and more stable, as I imagine?
    Regards, Phil

    Sheltie,
Thank you for the kind words. We all work very hard to help others with video-editing. Some of us also show up on other Adobe forums, depending on the products that we use most often.
Besides helping out, I also find that I learn something new every day, even about programs that I have used for decades. Heck, I just learned something new about PrE vs PrPro (my main NLE program), when I went to try and help a user. I probably actually use PrE more to test my theories, or to replicate a user's problem, than I do to actually edit my videos. Still, when applicable, I do real work in the program.
With about a dozen "regulars" here, if one of us is not around, several more usually are. Personally, I do not understand how Steve Grisetti and John T. can dedicate so very much time here. Steve is a noted author of books on PrE, PSE, Sony DVD Architect, and others, plus helps run a video/photography Web site, Muvipix.com, that is very active, and has so very much to offer. John T. is always under the watchful eye of The JobJarQueen, and gets dragged, kicking and screaming, out into the yard, or up on his roof, so can be gone for a bit.
Neale usually beats us all, since he's in the UK, and normally answers all the questions, that come in too late for us to see. He is also a PrE power-user, so beats me hands down.
I travel a great deal, but no one ever misses me. Was supposed to do a trip to Sydney last Dec., but had to cancel. Have not gotten details on the reschedule of that trip, but it would have been my first jaunt south of the Equator. Gotta' make that happen.
    Good luck, and happy editing,
    Hunt

There are no known issues between ur mobo and ur gfx card. Issues like these are moere chipset related then brand related.
Problem seems to be PSU related, an older 350w PSU will be unable to supply enough juice on 12v to feed a power hungry P4. Check the ammount of amps it delivers on the 12v rail(s). According to Intel specs u need at least 20 amps on 12v.
I don't think it's bios related. Bios issues rarely expose themselves in instabtable behavure.
Don't think it's Dx9 related, cus ur rig also freezes without using Dx9 extensions, eg surfing the internet.
The driver version u use is a decend one, and shouldn't cause the problems that you encounter.
I put my money on the PSU as trouble causer.
Good luck and keep us informed on ur progress.

No, they want swap the motherboard for free (I've also bough a 3 year additional warranty). I've to reinstall the Windows system to "proove" that it also not working correctly. And still not possible to destinguish between the 3 theoretical options listed below. Otherwise they will charge 380EUR + the price for the motherboard (guessing 200 EUR) which is not acceptable. Theoretically only the cause which are possible are:- Hardware problem
    - Driver problem
    - Windows OS problem I also uninstalled all graphic card drivers (Intel HD4600 and Nvidia GT740M driver in safe mode with Driver uninstaller). Rebooted. Afterwards with opened device manager to see the graphic card devices I was installing the latest driver package. Intel HD4600 driver installs well, when the Nvidia GT740M driver will be installed computer crashes instantly.https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-edge-laptops/thinkpad-edge-e540/downloads/DS039880

  • Graphic Card Initiate failed

I have a new MSI Eclipse m'board (MS-7520) with an Intel i7 920 processor. I have some Corsair DDS3 RAM (1333). My problem is the amount of time it takes for the graphics card to initialize. I have the graphics card plugged into PCI_E2 black slot. When it boots up, my monitor recognises that there is a DVI cable plugged in and it's powered on, but it'll just sit there with a blank screen and the D-LED 2 has the VGA.ini message displayed. It will bring up the BIOS splash screen and OS eventually, but the amount of time it takes is not right.
I've tried 2 different monitors, 2 different cables, only one RAM module, resetting CMOS, m'board out of case, VGA connection, and of course 3 different video cards. All graphics cards and monitors work fine in or with other PCs.
The graphics cards I've tried are PX6600 GT (I have 2 of these) and GeForce 9400 GT.
I've run out of ideas. Is the MSI Eclipse so picky that it needs only a particular brand/type of graphics card??

This problem is caused by using a USB Logitech Illuminated Keyboard. I contacted MSI, they sent me a new BIOS version (1.45) and problem solved. Why a keyboard causes video card delays, I can't explain, but it does and MSI have come to the party and fixed the problem.

  • Can i buy a graphic card in hp all in one pc 20 2314 in which has luma u mother board???

i want to uprage graphic card can i do so??

According to the specifications, the system has an MXM Type A slot and the card needs to be less than 35W (I suspect an even 35W would work as being less than that isn't very common).  It also lists the GT630M as a stock option for the system.  Other Type A cards that meet the power requirements should work as well.
The HP GT630 Type A card is listed here.  It appears to no longer be available from HP.  It looks like it is available from Amazon.  He is the Amazon seller's direct page.  Based on the part number, it can be found on eBay as well.  One thing I have noticed in my search for this particular card is that no one seems to have an image.  I would recommend contacting the seller to verify it is an MXM Type A card needing 35W of power.

  • Dell XPS One 27 All In One Desktop PC Windows 10 Graphics Driver Issues

I am posting to let Dell know about a problem with the current Dell XPS One 27 all in one desktop PC running the technical preview of Windows 10.  The XPS 27 uses a NVidia mobile graphics card that utilizes the 750M graphics chipset.  Dell publishes a compatible driver on its support pages (Driver 331.82).  This driver works on Windows 10 technical preview builds 9962 and 10041, however the Windows Update feature in Windows 10 technical preview forces driver updates.  The one being forced by Windows Update (Driver 349.90) is not 100% compatible with the hardware in the XPS 27.
When the XPS 27 is running driver 331.82 (supplied by Dell) then Office 365 is both installable and will run normally, however when Windows Update forces the driver update to 349.90, Office 365 is no longer installable, and if it has already been installed, then it will crash whenever any of the apps within the office suite are launched.
Currently in Windows 10 technical preview, there is no way of stopping Windows Update from installing the updated driver.  Even if you roll the driver back to the one supplied by Dell, Windows Update will then re-install 349.90 over the top of it.
I have left detailed feedback for Microsoft using the Windows 10 feedback system.  I am posting this here to let Dell know about the problem as well.

Greetings.  The problem associated with Office 365 has been resolved.  I am currently running Windows 10 Build 10074 and I am running Nvidia's GeForce 350.12 driver.
Nvidia released some beta drivers for Windows 10 last week.  These are currently 352.??.  They have one for the 750M chipset, however the implementation of the 750M chipset used by Dell in the XPS One 27 doesn't appear to be standard.,  The driver won't install, citing "no compatible hardware found"
Another problem with the current 350.12 drive in either Windows 10 build 10061 or 10074 is that it has broken all 3D gaming.  For example Skyrim on Steam no longer runs, and neither does Diablo III on Battle.net.  But at least Office 365 works, so I would rather be productive than entertained.

  • Dell Inspiron 530 Graphics Card Issues

    Hello Guys,
I recently received a EVGA SC GTX 750 Ti from a friend and decided I would install it in my Inspiron 530. Here is what happens when I disable my integrated graphics using device manager (Windows 7 Ultimate) and plug in VGA through card: The screen starts, and the dell splash screen loads (BIOS) but then the screen goes black and then the system beeps once.
I proceeded to believe the card was DOA, I tested it in a friend's Inspiron 570 with the same PSU and it booted into Windows.
This tells me that my PC has adequate power and the card is not DOA.
The only difference is that his PC is PCI 2.0 while mine is the primitive Gen 1.0.
This shouldn't be a difference however, because they are all backwards compatible. So could this be a BIOS issue or what?
    Please give your suggestions.
    Thanks

I am running an Inspiron 530 with an Asus Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB DDR5 graphics card. No problems at all here The card works great, I am very pleased. I would recommend upgrading the power supply to at least 400w for the card. The Corsair PS that I am using works very well, and is modular.
You say you are running Core 2 Quad, so I am guessing you have the 03 motherboard, and not the 02 that I have. My board only accepts a Core 2 Duo. I am running a Core 2 e8500 3.3Ghz.
How much RAM do you have? I would recommend 8GB of good RAM for the 530. I have 8GB Corsair RAM and it works very good, even for DDR2.
    I recommend the following:
    1. Unplug the graphics card and all other cards from the motherboard.
    2. Update to the latest BIOS for your motherboard. Revert back to factory BIOS settings after you update, and tweak your BIOS from there to make sure everything is configured properly to use a graphics card.
    3. Plug the card in and try again. Upgrade to the latest Nvidia drivers.
    4. Try the card on a different computer. The card may be your problem.
Post feedback of what you do.

  • Apple MacBook Air 11 inch, 13 inch, or Dell XPS 14 with i7 and nvidia graphics card?

I am a college student looking for either a MacBook Air 11 inch or a MacBook Air 13 inch. I was looking at the Dell XPS 14 with i7 processor and nvidia graphics card. It is similar in price to an Apple MacBook Air 11 inch. I will mainly use the laptop for browsing, a bit of Minecraft, watching videos (netflix/downloading movies), presentations, and documents. I would also need it to be lightweight because I will be carrying it around campus. I cannot choose between these three.....any ideas? I have an iPhone 5 and iPad with retina display (that is what I use currently and it is not working out). I just saw the WWDC14 and I saw how all my devices could connect to the Mac flawlessly.
    Please let me know,
    Thanks

I recommend the macbook 13" retina. Yes, it is expensive, but if you pair it with 8GB of memory, you should be futureproof for the next 5 years minimum. Why not the air.
Currently the air sports thunderbolt 1, This is super outdated. Macbook pro has thunderbolt 2 which allows you to daisy chain monitors via display port 1.2. Macbook Air sports display port 1.1a which only allows daisy chaining amoungst thunderbolt monitors which are expensive. $1000 minimum per a monitor where as you could pickup a daisy chainable displayport 1.2 dell monitor for $200. The only reason I am severely regretting my 13" Air.
The screen, yes, in a few years all screens will sport retina resolutions. It makes a big difference when reading and typing for long periods of time. Text is more clear. Also, 11" is way too small. If you want something that small, get an Ipad Air.
Battery life, 9 hours should still be enough to get you through the day. I go to school and I could only top out at 7 hours usage at most.
Gaming, Although I dont recommend gaming on any laptop because laptops aren't meant so much for gaming. Mostly because the heat generated from it kills the life of your laptop. It is up to 20% faster than the air.
Weight, half a pound off the 13" AIR is not a big deal. Actually the retina is smaller in height and width, so better center of balance when using it on your lap and the black bezel is less distracting.
Processor, its 10% faster in overall processing speeds generally.
Dont forget to purchase 2 year extended warranty. Buy that from bhphoto for 180 bucks. No tax and its way cheaper than apple.
If you still want the air after that, consider getting the 13". It comes with sd card slot, it is handy when you run out of space. And its 10% faster than the 11" even though they have the same processor. The processor's performance is based on the thermal threshold of the computer. The hotter it gets, the slower the computer gets to cool the processor down.
If you choose the Macbook Pro 13" RETINA(Not the $999 version with the DVD Drive), if you can, wait till late october when they update the computer with better hardware. Well... if you can.

Does anyone have any suggestions on the best graphics card for these larger displays for the best value?

I recommend you install nothing older than the Apple-firware 5770, about US$250.
RE: Mac Pro Replacement Graphics cards
    1) Apple brand cards,
    2) "sold in the Apple store" cards, and
    3) "Mac Edition" cards ...
... show all the screens, including Boot up screens, Safe Mode, Installer, Recovery, debug screens, and Alt/Option boot screens. At this writing, these choices include:
    1) Apple brand cards:
    • Apple-firmware 5770, about US$250** works near full speed in every model Mac Pro, Drivers in 10.6.5
    • Apple-firmware 5870, about US$450
    2) "sold in the Apple store" cards
    • NVIDIA Quadro 4000, about US$1200
    • NVIDIA Quadro 5000, about US$2500
    3) "Mac Edition" cards -- REQUIRE 10.8.3 or later:
    • SAPPHIRE HD 7950 3GB GDDR5 MAC Edition, about US$480** Vendor recommends Mac Pro 4,1
    • EVGA GTX 680 Mac Edition, about US$600
The cards above require no more than the provided two 6-pin aux power connectors provided in the Mac Pro through 2012 model. Aux cables may not be provided for third-party cards, but are readily available.
If you are Meet ALL of these:
    • running 10.8.3 or later AND
    • don't care about "no boot screens" etc AND
    • can re-wire or otherwise "work out" the power cabling, THEN:
You can use many more cards, even most "PC-only cards"

  • HELP why wont my msi z97 gaming 9 mother board find my msi N770 graphics card ?

have built a new gaming PC from scratch based around the MSI Z97 gaming 9 motherboard and the MSI NVIDIA GTX 770 graphics card i have installed all the drivers for the mother board and everything seems to be ok i have then used live update to update all the drivers and bios.
i then installed the graphics card and it powers up and the fans start but my pc isn't recognising the fact that is exists helps please

Recheck your WiFi Bluetooth expansion module connection on the board.
Recheck your MB mounting in the case, i.e. errant standoffs. Perhaps test the board outside the case on a non conductive surface to ensure no potential short exists. Then retest with the WiFi plugged in.

  • Purchased Radeon 4650 VisionTek graphics card from Dell to update Dell Inspiron 580 -- won't work

I recently called Dell to determine what graphics cards were compatible with my computer and was told a VisionTek DMS59 4650 would be the right hardware to enable me to use two new monitors with HDMI and DP ports.
The ports on the card were a bit of surprise..they needed 3 adapters to get from what was there to what I wanted. No telling how the signal changes across that interface.
I installed the card according to instructions. I did not see an additional pin for extra power. I disabled the drivers for my existing card--I didn't want to uninstall everything for fear I would completely lose the ability to plug anything in and see a screen. I tried deleting the grapics card from the bios but there were no bios options for doing that.
I called the "let us help you install this" hotline on my receipt only to be switched over to hardware support at Dell where I got bounced back and forth from in warranty to out of warranty groups only to be told I had to call the graphics card manufacturer and that the helpline was in error.
I am getting ready to return the card.
    Maybe someone has a solution.
