Deluge !

So after an update the other day, deluge now causes my cpu usage to creep to ~67%.  While it seems that a system should still be functional at 67% usage, it definitely is not.  it causes everything to become unresponsive, and the only thing that **does** respond is deluge, and only if i right click on the tray icon.  Oh, and this only happens when the gui is open.  If deluge is minimized to the tray, this symptom doesn't happen.  When i manage to kill deluge, the symptoms disappear.  Deluge output as follows:

  • Deluge and KDE - displaying incorrectly for one user only

    My deluge (and possibly other gtk apps) are being displayed incorrectly in KDE.  You can see the screenshot attached, but the thing I mostly notice is the progress bar.  On my laptop, as well as any other user account on the PC in question, it's a very blue progress bar (so 100% torrents will be all blue, 0% no blue, and obviously in between as % increases).  In the past I've messed with various gtk/kde rendering apps (so that gtk apps will display "correctly" in KDE), but I don't currently have any installed.  I also have rm'ed the configs in question per the wiki ( https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Un … plications ).  I have tried removing the deluge config for my current user and it still doesn't "fix" the issue.  I've gone through kde system settings to setting all display options to default-type options (which is what my laptop is set to).
    Just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on where I could look to fix this?  It's mostly an annoyance, but I've been trying to fix it for a while now so thought I'd finally ask for some help.
    EDIT: I realize this should be in the Desktop/Apps sections, so if a mod could move it for me, that would be much appreciated.

    1. You said the projects were all saved "to a shared folder." Do you mean THE Shared folder? Your Mac's Users folder should list two Users, plus a folder named "Shared". Is that the folder you mean?
    2. The trouble is that an iMovie project isn't actually a file. It's a special kind of folder called a package, which contains other files and folders. (To look inside the package, Control-Click on the package icon and choose "Show Package Contents" from the popUp menu.)
    3. When YOU are the user and you create a new iMovie project, the package and everything it contains is configured with you as the owner. You are the designated owner of all the items that comprise the project. No one else can Write to the project.
    4. To change that, you have to change the project package into a normal Finder folder, adjust its permissions and the permissions of all the contents of that folder, then change it back into an iMovie package.
    Here's how:
    In the Finder, choose Finder > Preferences. Click Advanced and turn ON "Show all file extensions".
    The name of your iMovie project "My Sample Project" is now displayed as "My Sample Project.iMovieProject" in the Finder.
    Remove ".iMovieProject" from the project name, removing the period. When the Finder asks, say OK.
    The project package has now turned into a folder. Select the folder and choose Get Info.
    Set Others permissions to "Read & Write". Then click "Apply to enclosed items". When the Finder asks, say OK.
    Select the folder name again and add the extension ".iMovieProject" to the name. The folder will change back to an iMovie package.
    The package will now allow anyone to Read and Write to the project.
    Karl
    PS: This solution isn't very handy, obviously, but it does the job. A better solution is to buy an external hard drive, and configure it to Ignore permissions. (In the Get Info window for the disk.) That lets both users save projects to the drive without permission issues.

    Do you happen to know what might be the problem here?
    I have found this topic: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=139714 It states that by downgrading libtorrent-rasterbar he should have solved his problem, however it is pretty old. He finally solved it by starting dbus, dbus is running here, as other things need it too, I have checked it via systemctl too. Is this the same issue around? (not seen on wiki, and no signs of bugs related to that package) What might be the cause?

    Maybe this can help: http://dev.deluge-torrent.org/ticket/2148 So maybe the twisted version 12 in /extra causes the problem?

    I did search. Ok, I suck at choosing the best search terms. I searched again, as you advised, and the answer in this thread https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=89043 did the trick. Apologies for not finding the obvious. And, as always, thanks for the assistance.

  • Missing text in many programs - Rox, Thunar, Deluge, etc [SOLVED]

    Hi all,
    I'm having a very confusing problem. Basically, text is just missing from certain programs. Here are a few quick examples:
    Thunar:
    Rox:
    Deluge:
    It's very strange. First of all, this just started happening recently, and I don't think after an update or anything. But I know "it just randomly started happening" is a dumb thing to say.
    Here is the info I think could be useful:
    -I have the ttf-freefont package and the xorg-font family of packages
    -I have updated and restarted since this happened; nothing has changed
    -The filenames look perfect if I just list them in the terminal (no newlines or anything)
    -The filenames that have disappeared aren't anything special, it's seemingly random (no weird characters in them)
    -The icons are totally fine
    -All the things with missing text are still totally functional if I use them
    -I thought this was a file manager issue, but it happening in Deluge too, so nope
    -I downloaded and tried Nautilus, same deal, but some files had random words from their name appear. Just as bad basically though
    -I also downloaded and tried Midnight Commander (a text based file manager) and everything is perfectly fine in it
    Any suggestions? This is very mysterious, and driving me nuts.
    Thanks!!
    Edit: To clarify, in the Thunar and Rox pictures I just took screenshots of a small portion of a folder. In the Deluge pictures, in the first one those 3 blank looking buttons in that menu should have more words (like "Remove Torrent"), and in the second one, those + and - buttons should also have text.

    Cairo 1.12 was just moved into [extra], so chances are this bug will reappear the next time you -Syu. If you're running Nouveau drivers, then the underlying cause of your issue might be this bug:
    https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/29495
    If this is indeed your issue, then you need to install the xf86-video-nouveau-0.0.16_git20120512-1 package from [testing]. If you re-enable [testing] and do an -Syu, it should automatically install this package.

  • Deluge not starting up, error

    Month old post, but just encountered this issue for the first time as well. Had Deluge up and running for a few days, so I'm not exactly sure what caused it. As for any settings I may have changed, nothing out of the ordinary. Like B-Con, removing the lock file didn't work (it just recreates it), but removing the ~/.config/deluge/ipc directory does work (it also recreates it, so no worries here). I'm just hopeful this doesn't become a recurring issue.
    EDIT: Just happened again, and now I can safely deduce the reason. Was because I shut off my computer pre-emptively, without quitting my applications.

    Thanks, this solve problem.
    It's better to rename deluge directory to deluge_old and after fresh start (deluge creates all default config dir and files), shut down deluge and daemon copy all your torrents files from ~/.config/deluge_old/state dir to    ~/.config/deluge/state, start deluge again - all your previous torrents return and will be add to seeding after re-check.

  • Launching deluge from the .desktop file uses the sbin symlink... why?

    Can someone explain the following?  Launching deluge-gtk from the package provided deluge.desktop under lxde causes both deluge-gtk and deluged to run from the sbin symlink.  You can see it by a simple:
    % ps aux | grep deluge
    /usr/bin/python2 /usr/sbin/deluge-gtk
    /usr/bin/python2 /usr/sbin/deluged
    In contrast, launching deluge-gtk from a shell (i.e. simply typing `deluge-gtk`) causes the expected /usr/bin/deluged and /usr/bin/deluge-gtk as viewed from the ps command.
    % ps aux | grep deluge
    /usr/bin/python2 /usr/bin/deluge-gtk
    /usr/bin/python2 /usr/bin/deluged
    If I modify /usr/share/applications/deluge.desktop using the fully qualified paths for the "TryExec=" and "Exec=" entries, deluge-gtk shows up as /usr/bin/deluge-gtk as it should, but the backend daemon, deluged, still shows up as /usr/sbin/deluged if I don't manually start it from the shell:
    % ps aux | grep deluge
    /usr/bin/python2 /usr/bin/deluge-gtk
    /usr/bin/python2 /usr/sbin/deluged

    After doing some more investigating, I have found that this only happens with the latest version of Java (1.6 update 2). What it is doing is loading the jnlp file that is located as the href link in the jnlp file that is launched. In other words, say you have two jnlp files; jnlp_a and jnlp_b. Say the href link inside jnlp_a points to the jnlp_b file. So the href line in the jnlp_a file would look like this 'href = "jnlp_b"'. In the latest version of Java, if you launch the jnlp_a file from a browser, Java Web Start will acutally load the jnlp_b file instead of the jnlp_a file that was launched. Should it be doing this? With the previous versions, JWS would read the href line and save this jnlp in the cache to be launched if the user creates a desktop shortcut. But it would still load the actual jnlp file that launched. Is this a bug in version 1.6 update 2?

  • DELUGE_USER option in /etc/conf.d/deluged and deluge v1.3.4-2

    I did an upgrade to deluge v1.3.4-2 today and in that version it seems that the DELUGE_USER option in /etc/conf.d/deluged isnt used anymore. Is that the case?
    If thats the case then how do run deluge as another user?
    Im following this bug:
    https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/28847

    Same situation here...
    User deluge has been hardcoded into the initscript, changing the user deluge both in deluged and deluge-web script restore the wanted behaviour....
    As per the error messages of kill, they are generate because the mainteinar changed the behaviour of the script.
    Before the update, the stop section removed the pid from /run/deluge
    Now the script does not remove the pid file, it tries to overwrite the pid value inside with the new value.
    But still this section puzzles me:
    PIDFILE=/run/deluge/deluged.pid
    OPTIONS="-P $PIDFILE $OPTIONS"
    [[ -f $PIDFILE ]] && PID=$(<$PIDFILE)
    kill -0 $PID || PID=
    Because:
    - Why test if the pidfile is a regular file? (-f flag)...imho sure that it is, no one touch it except for deluged main program and now that the script has been modified the file is not removed and recreated anymore during any operation
    - Why always try to kill the process?? That brings the error message of kills in two situations: when the program is first started and deluged.pid does not exists, and during restart operation, where kill cannot find the process since in the pidfile there is still the old pid value and the process has been killed by this section during the stop operation. Imho the kill should be performed in the stop section and not in the header. Or delete the pidfile during stop operation, and check for the existance of file before grabbing the pid value and kill it. What's the behaviour of the new version of deluged when you pass as an argument the pidfile? It creates the file if does not exists or requires that the file exists?

  • [Solved] Deluge et OpenSSL

    Hi,
    I have a new problem with deluged when i start it on my server, it doesn't find OpenSSL module but it is already installed (and deluge work fine before).

    I had the same issue.  I recently (fri night) upgraded my headless server after about a month.  Deluge used to work, then after the upgrade - nada.  Same thing happened to my media PC (upgrade at the same time).  I messed around with it for quite a while.  And yes, pacman -Q showed me having python2-pyopenssl installed on both systems.  I was actually about to post on here, but decided to remove deluge (pacman -Rns deluge) completely and reinstall I also deleted the ~/.config/deluge folder on both PC's to start completely fresh (I didn't have any torrents mid-download so didn't mind starting fresh).  .  That fixed this error on both systems.  Of course I had to redo all my settings, so this may not be the best way to fix it.  Funny thing is my office PC (which i upgrade more regularly... on a weekly basis) never had this issue.  All PC's are up to date as of this weekend, but only 2 of them had this issue (one running as a headless server, and one connecting to it as a thin client..).

  • Deluge-console can't connect when running daemon

    To date, I have always run deluged as my user.  I started the deluged daemon (rc.d start deluged) but find myself unable to connect via deluge-console.
    [ERROR ] 10:05:50 client:393 RPCError Message Received!
    RPCRequest: daemon.login(, )
    File "/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/deluge/core/rpcserver.py", line 259, in dispatch
    ret = component.get("AuthManager").authorize(*args, **kwargs)
    File "/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/deluge/core/authmanager.py", line 87, in authorize
    raise BadLoginError("Username does not exist")
    BadLoginError: Username does not exist
    The wiki offers no guidance on deluge-console.  Is this expected behavior?  The gtk client works fine btw.

    While searching for the problem, I crossed your thread and thereafter, found a solution :
    Launch deluge-console as usual.
    It will throw the error, but you can still use the deluge shell, so connect to the daemon using this command :
    connect localhost user password
    Replace localhost by the host if it's a remote machine, user and password by the ones you use in the authentification config of Deluge.

  • Still being Deluged with unrelated emails

    After asking how to get my Sony PRS-T1 recognized by ADE. I am still being Deluged by emails unrelated to my question I did receive a sugestion to modify my preferences, which I did. I turned off responce by email, am still getting email which is clauging up my InBox. How do I make this STOP?????

    Tried that... Also tried sending to the original email, since I had just changed it to something recognizable a short time before. Currently failing with the email authorization on or off. Here's the latest message:
    Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 5.7.1 Command rejected (state 18).
    Thanks for helping... :-)

    Because the .desktop file is part of the upstream source, it's always created as part of the build procedure.
    I did not mean "what is the direct cause of the icon". I meant "why did the maintainers choose to include the icon when there is no GUI application to link it to" (see below).
    I don't see why there is an issue with these optional dependencies at all, the deluge wiki page is perfectly clear on the subject.
    The issue is that a broken `.desktop` file is being added. The fact of the matter is that if both Deluge and some window manager have been installed, `pygtk` should become a mandatory dependency. Unfortunately, pacman is not capable of that kind of reasoning.
    See an earlier post of mine for some more general problems I have with the pacman dependency system.

  • Deluge not accepting wide characters

    First post ever!
    I'll get straight to my problem. I'm trying to download the discography of Jørn Lande <-- norwegian character right there
    and Deluge doesn't accept it. Says something about invalid or incorrect multibyte or wide character. The download is thus paused, and I'm stuck. I've wasted the day downloading the torrent with transmission (no error message in GUI, didn't check terminal) but it didn't save the information downloaded, and thus wasted my afternoon. What do I do? Is there some patch or package I can download to make Deluge accept wide characters?
    Cheers

    I've uncommented the following:
    nb_NO.UTF-8     UTF-8
    nb_NO   ISO-8859-1
    "locale" in terminal gives:
    LANG=nb_NO.utf8
    LC_CTYPE="nb_NO.utf8"
    LC_NUMERIC="nb_NO.utf8"
    LC_TIME="nb_NO.utf8"
    LC_COLLATE="nb_NO.utf8"
    LC_MONETARY="nb_NO.utf8"
    LC_MESSAGES="nb_NO.utf8"
    LC_PAPER="nb_NO.utf8"
    LC_NAME="nb_NO.utf8"
    LC_ADDRESS="nb_NO.utf8"
    LC_TELEPHONE="nb_NO.utf8"
    LC_MEASUREMENT="nb_NO.utf8"
    LC_IDENTIFICATION="nb_NO.utf8"
    LC_ALL=
    Is something wrong?
