Demo applications with BC4J and JClient

Are there any demo applications with BC4J and JClient, which go beyond the one frame samples, tutorials and how to's?
This would deliver a better insight to develop a complete application.

Thanks,
the Virtual Shopping Mall sample is quite not I have searched for, because it is primarily an Web application and I am searching for an JClient application without Application Server, but it is a beginning.

  • How to implement concurrent nested Dialogs with BC4J and JClient

    Hello,
    we are evaluating BC4J/JClient. In our application we have a navigation tree
    in a Java client from which we can call nested dialogs to set attributes,
    call business logic etc.
    Is it possible to open more than one sub-dialog from our starting navigation tree
    at the same time? Each sub-dialog should have its own transaction context.
    To our knowledge we need a new application module for each sub-dialog in order
    to start a new transaction. But how is the navigation tree updated if data
    from the sub-dialogs is commited? The dialogs and the navigation tree don't share
    the same model, do they? The navigation tree might have to show lots of data
    retrieved over a slow connection, so simply updating the entire model is not a solution.
    This could work if an intelligent caching fetches only the changed data.
    So: What is the best way to implement sub-dialogs with their own transaction plus an
    update mechanism?
    Thanks for any help!

    http://otn.oracle.com/sample_code/products/jdev/jclient/jclient_binding_demo.html
    YOu'd have to tweak this sample so that each sub-window comes up with it's own AM (as you've right suggested).
    Regarding commit, yes, if you do not want to query the whole model on the navigator, you may use Transaction.commitAndSync() method to commit changes instead of simply performing a commit() call.
    See javadoc on this method for details on how it works.

  • [URGENT] Performance problem with BC4J and partioned data

    Hi all,
    I have a big performance probelm with BC4J and partitioned data. As as partitioned table shouldn't have a primary key like a sequence (or something else) my partitioned table doesn't have any primary key.
    When I debug my BC4J application I can see a message showing me "ignoring row with no primary key" from EntityCache. It takes a long time to retrieve my data even if I use the partition keys. A quick & dirty forms application was multiple times faster!
    Is this a bug in BC4J, or is BC4J not suitable for partitioned data? Can anyone give me a hint what to do, do make the BC4J application fast even with partitioned data? In a non-partitioned environment the application works quite well. So it seams that it must be an "error" somewhere in this part.
    Thanks,
    Axel

  • Deploying Applications with BC4J

    I am just evaluating BC4J and JDeveloper.
    Can Applications / Modules developed with JDeveloper taking full advantage of 'Business Components for Java' and EJB/CORBA be deployed in non Oracle Servers such as WebSphere ? Or does it specifically require Oracle 8i ?
    null

    In our upcoming 3.2 release, we support deploying Business Components for Java in the following environments:
    1. In local mode, to any application server (this is best suited for JSP and Servlet Client UIs).
    2. As an EJB to:
    - Oracle8i 8.1.7 (session or entity)
    - Oracle9i app server
    - BEA WebLogic
    3. As a CORBA Server Object to:
    - Visibroker

  • The most resent Firefox update has a conflicting application with adobe and all pdf files have to open firefox before opening

    My issue started with downloading the most current Firefox. Firefox opens multiple empty tabs (20 -30 or more) every time I use adobe reader. I changed the action for a content type to show adobe reader. It was showing open the file in adobe in Firefox. I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox twice and this did not work. I uninstalled Adobe Reader and Air but could not uninstall Adobe Flash Player because of a conflicting Application with Firefox. I then uninstalled Firefox and was able to uninstall Adobe Flash Player. I reinstalled Adobe Reader only and then Firefox. I no longer have multiple empty tabs opening up but each time I open a pdf file, Firefox has to open as well. I am operating on Windows 7 Home edition. Can some one help this is a nuisance.
    Thank you,
    Steve Zalkin

    Try to rename (or delete) the mimeTypes.rdf file in the Firefox profile folder to reset all file actions.

  • Pulse Generation application with DAQmx and a PXI-6624 module?

    What is the best implementation method for the following pulse generation application
    using LabVIEW, DAQmx and a PXI-6624 counter\timer module?
    I have two rising edge trigger signals (Trigger-1 and Trigger-2).
    There is ample spacing between each trigger. They never occur at the same time.
    I need to generate a single pulse (fixed width, variable delay) whenever Trigger-1 occurs and
    a finite pulse train (fixed width, variable delay, N-pulses) whenever Trigger-2 occurs.
    However, the output must appear on one counter output because this composite signal
    will be used as a trigger source for another PXI module in the rack.
    With DAQmx and a TIO counter\timer can I use both the GATE (for Trigger-1) and
    AUX (for Trigger-2) at the same time on the same counter to gate out the desired pulses?
    Trigger-1 would be wired to the GATE of CTR0. One Trigger-1 event would generate one pulse on the output of CTR0.
    Trigger-2 would be wired to the GATE of CTR1 and the output of CTR1 would be routed to the AUX input of CTR0.
    One Trigger-2 event at the GATE of CTR1 would generate multiple pulses on output of CTR0.
    Would DAQmx and the PXI-6624 TIO support this implementation?
    What is the best way to accomplish the task at hand.
    Thank You.
    Best Regards,
    Scooby

    Hi Scooby,
    I have looked into the application you have described and I see a potential problem with what you describe.  In DAQmx, it is not possible to call the counters of the same DAQ device in the same task, so you cannot have the finite pulse train generation and the single pulse generation tasks running at the same time.  What you can do, since you mention the triggers will not occur at the same time, is to stop one counter task while you are triggering another.  The way I would suggest you merge the outputs is with a two input Or logic gate to avoid damaging your counters.  Your signals will effectively be added together by this logic gate.   I do not see any way to merge the outputs internal to the DAQ device.
    Please let me know if I can be of additional assistance.

  • Calling a BSP application with MVC and send one start value

    Hi,
    I developed a BSP application with BSP. The application has a start page with one input field. The user gives a number and click the send button. The controller creates the modeler and gives the userinput as start parameter for the data search. After the data are read/found, the controller calls a view to show the data.
    This is very easy and does work.
    I have to call this simply application from another one: the caller application sends the start value.
    I don't know, if is better to send the start value in the URL or not. I tried it, but the controller cannot read it.
    How can I call the controller with a start value?
    Thank you!
    Bye
    Patrizia

    Hi ,
    what you need to do is
    1) for the "Send" button attach a java script.
    <htmlb:button id="myButton" text="Submit ...." onClick="sendRequestWrapper()"/>
    this javascript should take the inputfrom the field,
    then in the javascript create the URL.
    function sendReqeustWrapper(){
    sendRequest(InputField);
    function sendRequest(InputField)
    var URL;
    URL  = window.location.protocol + "//" ;
    URL += window.location.host ;
    <b>Note: its only Example link,</b>
    URL += "/sap/bc/bsp/sap/<BSPApplication>/controller.do";
    URL +="?InputFieldName=";
    URL +=InputFieldValue;
    <b>then use</b>
    Your URL will look like:
    http://ld0507.wdf.sap.corp:50007/sap/bc/bsp/sap/<bsp appl>/controller.do?InputFieldName=XXXXX
    window.open(URL,"_self","");
    so once this URL is triggered  you need to goto the respective controller and handle the input. You can see the reply from Mr. Akshaya Rao .

  • Creating a WebCenter Application with PageCutomizable and ADF Security

    I created a Webcenter App in Jdev 11.1.1.2.0 with webcenter extension.
    I have 2 JSPX files.
    One called mainTemplate.jspx
    - contains header, footer in ADF and a center facet.
    One called Welcome.jspx created from mainTemplate
    - contains page customizable > panel customizable > layout customizable > various custom panel configs.
    ADF security is configured with BASIC, authentication only. Because form authentication seems harder to get working.
    We have one weblogic user, and currently deploy to the integrated WLS, although we'll deploy out to a full server once security/composer is working.
    The problem is, when we run the Welcome.jspx, and because we added a reference to a logged in var, it requests http login fine.
    We then refresh the page and see that we are indeed logged in as 'weblogic'.
    Is weblogic a special user? should I create a new one? Is there any setup required on the Integrated WLS to get this working?
    However when we click on 'add Content' using the composer we get a permission error.
    +<RegistrationConfigurator><handleError> Server Exception during PPR, #1+

    I tried using the Customization allowed var in the property inspector, but could not map 'allowed by' to a user or role that my setup would recognise. The doco specifies 'admin' which does not work for me.
    In my catalog I have a WCM portlet taskflow, which will require its own permissions.
    I tried enabling permissions for the test-all role to all of my pages/taskflows, leaving just the 'view' permission to the anonymous role.
    I also tried authentication/authorization profiles, and building my own jspx login/error pages, but no luck there either, the login button doesn't seem to tirgger my java doLogin class, even though I set the binding on the button using the method expression builder to the bean method.
    *note: I didn't try the welcome/login/error page auto create as they generate html files, I created JSFs with full UI in there. Am I required to use those html types instead of jspx? I found that the redirection worked by appending the jspx reference with '/faces/Login.jspx'. The problem seemed to have been somewhere else.
    If we have any Webcenter Composer / Security gurus out there, help would be greatly appreciated.
    Our main goal is to create a Webcenter App which has security/composer/navigation and a catalog with WCM/Siebel portlets similar to the Avitek demo without using WC Spaces.
    Thanks.
    Thanks.

    When you want to achieve this you need to configure ADF security with basic authentication & authorization. THe authorization is the part that takes care of what a user may and may not do in an application. Authentication is just the log in part.
    When you have configured your application for authorization as well, you have to create roles and groups.
    You will also have to set the authorization of your pages. Open a jsxp and in the design or source view, right click and "edit authorization". You then have to add roles to your pages and define their rights. Then you can set the authorization for edit,cuustomize,personlise,view,...
    Hope this helps.

  • How to create new OC4J instance in AS 10.1.3 with BC4J- and ADF-Libraries

    Hi
    I have done all the steps mentioned in this thread:
    How to create new OC4J instance in AS 10.1.3
    However, the new created OC4J instance obviously misses some libraries. If I deploy my Application to this OC4J I get an internal error: Class not found: oracle.jbo.JboException.
    The same Application runs well in the "home" Instance.
    What is the trick, to create a new OC4J instance, which more or less behaves the same way as the "home" instances (and especially has all the same libraries)?
    Thanks for your help
    Frank Brandstetter

    I encountered this last month. I definitely agree that it is a glaring omission to not have "Create Like" functionality when instantiating new containers. Here's my notes on the manual steps required after using createinstance to create the fresh container. Not too bad. I've been deploying ADF applications to the new container with no problems after this.
    ==============
    The default (home) OC4J container is pre-configured for ADF 10.1.3 applications; however, when $ORACLE_HOME/bin/createinstance is used to create additional containers, these containers are not configured automatically to host ADF 10.1.3 applications.
    I followed these manual steps:
    1. $ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/home/config/server.xml defines three shared libraries that "install" the needed JARs for Oracle ADF applications in your application server instance (container). Note that "install" does not necessarily mean available to applications (see Step 2). Copy the three shared library element definitions to the <application-server> element of your new container (in server.xml).

To make the necessary ADF and JSF support libraries available to your deployed ADF application, the default application (that your ADF application and the majority of applications should inherit from) should explicitly import the shared library in the <orion-application> element of $ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/<your container>/config/application.xml.

    Hi,
    I installed JDeveloper 11.1.1.3.0 and cracked the nut. The LOV driven ComboBoxes in JTables will remain empty after migrating to the new version, but it seems to be merely a bug in the migration. What you need to do in order to get the ComboBoxes working is the following:
    I found out that in your PageDefs you need to add two attributes to the <combobox> definitions:
    ControlClass="javax.swing.JComboBox" Editable="false"
    This makes the ComboBoxes look like in previous releases. If you skip the "Editable" attribute, the user can type in values, which does not really work in LOVs but in static lists.
    Unfortunately I experienced another bug in the 11.1.1.3.0 release concerning LOVs: When defining the LOV in the ViewDef, JDeveloper wouldn't let you specify any additional columns to be displayed in the LOV ("Display Attributes"). -> The workaround is much easier than I first thought: Just resize the dialog a little bigger and the selection fields that I first missed appear!
    In the moment it looks to me like I could continue development with JDeveloper 11.1.1.3.0.

  • Connecting locally with BC4J and JDBC DataSource

    I have a BC4J project/module which I'm using as the data access layer for a web application, and that is deployed in 'local' mode on the OC4J server. In the config for the BC4J Module, I'm using the 'JDBC DataSource' connection type. When I deploy to OC4J, the appropriate entries are made in data-sources.xml and things run fine.
    W/in JDev, however, I'd like to be able to use the BC4J Tester and/or some local java classes (ie, run with a main method, outside the context of OC4J) to do some testing as I develop, including accessing the DB via my BC4J module, with the JDBC DataSource connection type. Currently, in order to run outside of the context of OC4J, I need to modify my config to use a connection type of 'JDBC URL' in order to successfully connect via the tester or via a main method driven class. (But then must be sure to change it back to 'JDBC DataSource' prior to redeploying.) If don't do this, and instead try to use the DataSource connection type, I get the errors "oracle.jbo.JboException: JBO-27200: JNDI failure. Unable to lookup Data Source at context jdbc/ADD_OWNER_DEV2DS" and "javax.naming.NoInitialContextException: Need to specify class name in environment or system property, or as an applet parameter, or in an application resource file: java.naming.factory.initial" (among others)
    It seems pretty clear that I need to somehow/somewhere specify the context factory or such when running in JDev vs under OC4J, or somehow point the IDE to the local OC4J instance as the source of the info, etc?
    When trying to connect from the development environment, I have a local OC4J instance up and running, and I have what I think is an appropriate entry in data-sources.xml (I've tried this in 4 locations - j2ee\home\config, multi\system\oc4j-config, system9.0.3.1035\oc4j-config and as a new Data Sources Descriptor in the project.)
    Is there a way to set things up such that I can use the 'JDBC DataSource' connection type regardless of whether I'm running inside or outside of OC4J?
    Thanks,
    Jim

    Jim,
    You need some jndi implementation to bind(define) the datasource that can be looked up at runtime. Unfortunately, currently the only jndi implementation available in which you can bind datasources comes from oc4j. So you have to run in oc4j for using the datasource as your connection type.
