Dependent Dropdown List Help

I created a dependent dropdown list form in Acrobat X Pro using the example in the tutorial:
http://acrobatusers.com/tutorials/js_list_combo_livecycle
This code works great, however, this tutorial only works if the options for the dropdwon lists are full words. Multiple words separated by spaces can't be used because the options for the main list are used as arrays. In this tutorial for example, the options for the main list are: Chassis, Clutch, etc. (one word). This technique won't work is for example, if the options for this list are 'Cylinder Ring', 'Brake Pads', etc.
Any ideas on how to implement the dependent dropdow lists using multi-word options?
Thank you.

Just put quotes around any object properties. For example:
var oAssemblyParts = {
    "Chasis": [
        ["-","None"],
        ["Rear Bracket",205.95],
        ["Front Bearing",48.95]
    "Cylinder Ring": [
        ["-","None"],
// etc.

  • How to implement two dependent dropdown lists in an input  table row?

    Hi all,
    I am new in Jdev 11g. I try to develop an input table with two dependent dropdown list. I can create independent dropdown list in such table. When I try to implement dependent one following some examples do it in a form using bind variable in the view object I get an empty listbox. How can I do this? Is it possible. I cannot find any documents about this.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
    it hasn't changed between 10.1.3 and 11. The basic outline of how you do it is
    - use a managed bean to query the data
    - populate the list with f:selectItems that point to the managed bean ArrayList<SelectItem> for the master and the detail
    - obtain the master ID in the managed bean by parsing the #{row} variable when the table renders
    - then bulild the detail list
    - have the detail list referencing the ArrayList<SelectItem> you expose for the details
    Note that without proper caching, the action is quite expensive

  • Dependency DropDown List for Multiple Rows in Offline Interactive Form

    Hi I have 2 drop down lists.. in one dropdown list I have "Billable" and "Non Billable" , in second Dropdown list we will have Binding values with "Billable".... when we select "Billable" I need to get the data in Second Dropdown list from Database, and when we Select "Non Billable" then Dropdownlist should become a Inputfield (i.e Dropdown should turn to textfield)...and this should happen for each and every row....based on Index value....help me on this.....

    Hi,
    You can create one input text field and make it visible when a user choses non billable option in dropdown 1, using -
    <this>.presence = "visible";
    when billable is chosen from dropdown 1, I can think of two ways.
    - Since you have binding 'billable' options with second dropdown, make it visible when billabile option is chosen.
    - you can also populate the second dropdown using javascript (something like dependent dropdowns) when billable option is chosen.
    if ( this.rawValue == 'billable' )
         seconddropdown =  xfa.resolveNodes("xfa.record.ITAB.DATA[ *]");
         for ( var k = 0; k < seconddropdown.length ; k++)
          <your path>.addItem(seconddropdown.item(j).fieldname.value,seconddropdown.item(j).fieldname.value );   (to populate second dropdown)

  • How to create a dependant dropdown list in JHeadStart

    I have created a JDeveloper application using JHeadStart. I have created a dropdown list that should be dependant on another value in the table.
    So far I have done the following:
    1. Created a new view object in the data model.
    2. Created a bind variable to supply the value to the where clause for the view.
    3. Altered the where clause in the view to use the bind variable.
    4. Created a new domain in JHeadStart using this new view.
    Where I am having problems is how to assign the bind variable the value of another field in the currently displayed form. The current form is in form layout mode.
    I have done this when using table layout mode by doing the following: bindvariable=#{row.field} which works great. The problem is how do I do this in form layout?

    Please ask this in the JHeadstart forum

  • CSS Menu - Dropdown list help.

    Hi guys,
    I am re-creating a website for a friend and I am currently finding coding the CSS Menu difficult.
    Here is MY version of the website:
    http://abacusmortgages.co.uk/index.html
    Here is the current version I am trying to copy:
    http://sdhmarketing.co.uk/
    Pages: Our client types and What do you need have special css menu dropdown lists which come up when you hover over the button.
    Here is the CSS code I have so far:
    #holding ul {
              margin: 0px;
              padding-left: 0px;
              list-style-type: none;
              font-family: Arial;
              font-size: 14px;
              font-weight: bolder;
              color: #506F1A;
              background-image: url(images/navbg.jpg);
              position: absolute;
              left: 0px;
              top: -3px;
    #holding ul li {
              float: left;
              width: 200px;
              margin: 0px;
              font-weight: bold;
    #holding ul li a {
              font-family: Arial;
              font-size: 11pt;
              color: #506F1A;
              text-decoration: none;
              background-color: Transparent;

              padding: 5px;
    #navigation {
    #holding ul li a:hover {

              background-color: #333;
              font-weight: bolder;
              font-size: 14px;
    .menu {
    Here is the HTML I am using:
    <ul>
        <li><a href="index.html">HOME</a></li>
        <li><a href="ourclienttypes.html">OUR CLIENT TYPES</a></li>
        <li><a href="whatdoyouneed.html">WHAT DO YOU NEED?</a></li>
        <li><a href="casestudies.html">CASE STUDIES</a></li>
        <li><a href="managementteam.html">MANAGEMENT TEAM</a></li>
      </ul>
    If anyone could help it would be much appreciated.
    Thanks all!

    You, essentially, have an issue with float: left;
    Here's the deal, when you float list items left, they'll line up to the left, even though your navigation is centered.
    They have also done this website in a manner that does not line up with what the W3C considers a standard for websites, but that's another issue.
    Here's their HTML:
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />
    <title>wanted</title>
    <link href="wanted.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
    </head>
    <body>
    <div id="page">
    <div id="head">
      <div style="width:100%; float:left;">
        <div id="name2"></div>
        <div id="name1"></div>
      </div>
      <div id="slogan"></div>
    </div>
    <div id="top"><a class="topsel1" href = "http://sdhmarketing.co.uk/index.php">HOME</a><a class="top1" href = "http://sdhmarketing.co.uk/who.php">OUR CLIENT TYPES</a><a class="top1" href = "http://sdhmarketing.co.uk/what.php">WHAT DO YOU NEED?</a><a class="top1" href = "http://sdhmarketing.co.uk/case_studies.php">CASE STUDIES</a><a class="top1" href = "http://sdhmarketing.co.uk/team.php">MANAGEMENT TEAM</a> </div>
    <div id="maintop"></div>
    </body>
    </html>
    Now, here's the problem. They have one line with all of their navigation. So they started out with (on the same line):
    HOME OUR CLIENT TYPES WHAT DO YOU NEED? CASE STUDIES MANAGEMENT TEAM
    Then, they selected each menu item and gave it a style and a link. That's pretty bad practice, because how do you manage that? Also, how do blind people figure out it's a navigation? Also, what if you want sub-menus?
    But you like how it's pretty and I respect that.
    This is how to really do it:
    HTML:
    <div id="top">
    <ul>
              <li>HOME</li>
        <li>OUR CLIENT TYPES</li>
        <li>WHAT DO YOU NEED?</li>
        <li>CASE STUDIES</li>
              <li>MANAGEMENT TEAM</li>
    </ul> <!--ends the list -->
    </div> <!--ends top -->
    You see here, I have an Unordered List for my navigation. Because it's an unordered list, I can easily add new items, add sub-lists (drop-down menus) and really make this puppy sing. Unfortunately, when you look at this with no style, you'll see something pretty boring and it won't be horizontal. We change all of that in the style sheet.
    First, before we do anything else, we'll make everything into a link. We can change those links later on when we build the rest of our pages.
    <ul>
              <li><a href="#">HOME</a></li>
        <li><a href="#">OUR CLIENT TYPES</a></li>
        <li><a href="#">WHAT DO YOU NEED?</a></li>
        <li><a href="#">CASE STUDIES</a></li>
              <li><a href="#">MANAGEMENT TEAM</a></li>
    </ul> <!--ends the list -->
    An hash "#" is a link that simply calls the page you are on. It's a bona-fide link and it will create what you want.
    Now, we need to set up styles.
    Let's set up the list by getting rid of bullet points (the default) and give it a little padding:
    Make a new style sheet, call it how-to.css. It will be blank so we'll add a style. We will need to link to it from our HTML page, so add the following to the <head> section:
    <link href="how-to.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
    Now, we make a blank CSS page and we call it how-to.css. Put it in the root of your defined site in Dreamweaver for now. And we'll define list objects within the div they naked top:
    #top li {
              display: inline;
              list-style-type: none;
              padding-right: 20px;
    Now, you'll see that our list is suddenly horizontal! Cool! But links are blue by default and underlined. Did we want that? No. So let's style links:
    #top a {
              float:left;
              padding: 5px 20px 2px 20px;
              font-size: 13px;
              height:23px;
              color:#506F1A;
              display: block;
              letter-spacing: -0.2px;
              font-weight: bold;
              text-decoration: none;
    Now, I'm borrowing heavily from their styles here.
    But we have to set up the #top framework and here's that (it should go before everything else in your style sheet)
    #top {
              width:990px;
              padding:0px 10px 0px 0px;
              height:35px;
              margin:0px 0 0 0;
              background-image: url("navbg.jpeg");
              background-repeat: repeat-x;
    Now, it's just about done. They used an Arial typeface and the default is Times Roman. Let's add a little more to the #top id:
    Now let's make backgrounds change when we hover and when we have one selected.
    #top a:hover {
              background-color: #444;
              color: #fff;
    And make a background behind the page you are on, with a hover:
    .selected {
              background-color:#777777;
              color:white !important;
    .selected a:hover {
              background-color: #444;
              color: #fff;
    Now you're pretty much done.
    Here is how to style the entire thing in CSS:
    #top {
              width:990px;
              padding:0px 10px 0px 0px;
              height:35px;
              margin:0px 0 0 0;
              background-image: url("navbg.jpeg");
              background-repeat: repeat-x;
              font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
    #top li {
              display: inline;
              list-style-type: none;
              padding-right: 20px;
    #top a {
              float:left;
              padding: 10px 20px 5px 20px;
              font-size: 13px;
              height:26px;
              color:#506F1A;
              display: block;
              letter-spacing: -0.2px;
              font-weight: bold;
              text-decoration: none;
              margin-top: -5px;
    #top a:hover {
              background-color: #444;
              color: #fff;
    .selected {
              background-color:#777777;
              color:white !important;
    .selected a:hover {
              background-color: #444;
              color: #fff;

  • How to make one-option dropdown list partial trigger?

    There are two dependent dropdown lists. when list one is selected, the other one will get the SelectItems according the value of list one. My question is: when there is only one selectiem in list one (and the hint 'Please select one..."), how to make it partial trigger in the second time? e.g. I first login and select the ONLY one choice in List one, and the List two gets the values. but the data in datasource updated, so I want to choose the List one again, and make the List two get the new values.

    Hi,
    create a JSF binding (Bindings property on the list component) to a managed bean. The in the code that would trigger the PPR, call
    AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addPartialtarget(theListBindingName);
    If you have a refresh button, then you could use declarative PPR

  • ADDT Dependent Dropdown SB with Spry Repeat Lists

    Hi,
    I first want to say that this forum is fantastic and full of very bright folks willing to help us not so bright types.
    Next, of course, I have a problem. I'm using spry repeat lists as dropdowns in a form. There are 3 that need to be dependent on each other. I had been using the ADDT dependent dropdown SB and it works great for normal selects. It doesn't seem to work at all on spry repeat lists. I was hoping these two would play nicely together, and maybe they do and there's some trick to this.
    If the ADDT SB's don't work with Spry repeat lists, maybe there's a way to do this using javascript?
    Thanks in advance for any help,
    Tony Galfano

    Hi Gunter,
    Thanks for the help. I've decided, based on your accurate assessment of the work involved in getting all this to work with spry, to ditch that and just refresh the damn page after all new entries are made. I appreciate your help, probably saved me many hours.
    I do have a wierd issue with the ADDT editaqble dropdown behavior. I actually use this one a lot and it always works well. I have one dropdown that only showsw the first 2 characters of the contents. A swcreenshot is avaiable here: http://www.zenwebguru.com/editabledropdown.jpg
    All of the other editable dropdowns on the page, and the site, work fine, but this one is shruken for some reason. I'm wondering if there is a size limitation in the css or the js that can't handle larger records? The largest field in the table contains the value:
    "Flat Guarantee; Purchaser to provide one Fender Amplifier (see rider for list of amps) at no cost to Artist."
    This really shouldn't present a problem, but maybe it's something else?
    Thanks, as always for your great help.

  • System is not showing in dropdown list for input help

    hi,
    I am using one data service in iview and i have dragged an input form.I want to add input help in it.
    Now my problem is that: When i am trying to select system for input help it is not showing any system in dropdown list.
    Can anybody help me to solve this.
    Thanks

    Hi ,
    if the System is not Mapped to VC User it will not appear in the Dropdown list.
    So do the Usermapping for that system useing System alias.
    Do you know how to do Usermapping?
    If not get back to me.

  • Help with Dynamic Dropdown List

    Hi everyone,
    I'm completely new to this, so I hope you will excuse my lack of knowledge.
    I need to add a dropdown menu on a page.  The dropdown will display a list of all the state names in the U.S.  When the person selects a particular state, the access numbers for that state should appear next to it.
    I'm using Dreamweaver CS4.  I was given a Excel spreadsheet with all of the information on it.
    It would be easiest for me if I can use ASP to handle this, since I already have it setup on my machine as a local server to test it.
    But, I can't seem to wrap my head around how to go about this.
    Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Can you tell me if the following statements are correct?
    - I need to make 2 xml documents.  One for a list of states and one for cities and their phone numbers.
    - I need to add a form to a page in DW.
    - I need to add 2 Spry Regions to the form, one for the states dropdown list and one for the cities and phone numbers.
    - I need to create two Spry Data Sets using the XML data sets I created earlier and insert them in their corresponding regions.
    - And I need to analyze the code from iPHP's example and somehow link all the stuff together.
    Am I even close to correct?
    Thanks again,
    Meb
    1.) What does the source code from the example look like? Are there 2 xml documents?
    2.) Is there a form on the example? Do you want a form on your page?
    3.) How many Spry Regions are in the example?
    4.) What does the source code from the example suggest?
    5.) yes! View source code as previously advised. All of your other questions will be answered once you've done this! See a pattern forming here? You ask a bunch of questions, the answer is to view the source code. You say you've done that and will continue to do so, yet you still ask questions that can be answered by viewing the source code. The result is a lot of redundant discussion.

  • Creating a dropdown list which is depending on the selections from 2 other dropdown lists

    Hi,
    I'm new to LiveCycle and JavaScript and I was hoping someone could help me with this form I am creating.
    This is what I want it to do:
    I have a dropdown list named 'Area' which drops down to 3 options.  Once the form filler selects an area, they will then select an option from dropdown list 2 which is named 'Brand'  (there is up to 5 options), I then I want dropdown list 3 named 'Address" to have all of the address of the area and brand selected.
    Is this possible?
    Thankyou for your help!!

    Hi,
    here is an example for three dropdowns with dependencies.
    You have to copy this code in the change-event of the fist dd:
    Number and Letter are the entries in my example in the first dd. You have to adapt to your entries. Then you have your object names change in the script.
    DropdownListe2.addItem("123"); - this phrase you could use several times (in your example 5x for the second dd)
    switch (xfa.event.newText)
        case "Number":
            DropdownListe2.clearItems();
            DropdownListe3.clearItems();
            DropdownListe3.rawValue = null;
            DropdownListe2.addItem(" ");
            DropdownListe2.addItem("123");
            DropdownListe2.addItem("456");
            DropdownListe2.selectedIndex = 0;
            break;
        case "Letter":
            DropdownListe2.clearItems();
            DropdownListe3.clearItems();
            DropdownListe3.rawValue = null;
            DropdownListe2.addItem(" ");
            DropdownListe2.addItem("A");
            DropdownListe2.addItem("B");
            DropdownListe2.selectedIndex = 0;
            break;
        default:
            break;
    This code you have to copy in the change-vent from the second dropdown:
    switch (xfa.event.newText)
        case "123":
            DropdownListe3.clearItems();
            DropdownListe3.addItem(" ");
            DropdownListe3.addItem("123_aa");
            DropdownListe3.addItem("123_bb");
            DropdownListe3.selectedIndex = 0;
            break;
        case "456":
            DropdownListe3.clearItems();
            DropdownListe3.addItem(" ");
            DropdownListe3.addItem("456_aa");
            DropdownListe3.addItem("456_bb");
            DropdownListe3.selectedIndex = 0;
            break;
        case "A":
            DropdownListe3.clearItems();
            DropdownListe3.addItem(" ");
            DropdownListe3.addItem("A_1");
            DropdownListe3.addItem("A_2");
            DropdownListe3.selectedIndex = 0;
            break;
        case "B":
            DropdownListe3.clearItems();
            DropdownListe3.addItem(" ");
            DropdownListe3.addItem("B_1");
            DropdownListe3.addItem("B_2");
            DropdownListe3.selectedIndex = 0;
            break;
        default:
            break;

  • Need help using dropdown list control

    We have created a list of 30 markers & saved this as a
    field cast member, to create a dropdown list.
    We want the user to select from the dropdown list the marker
    they want to navigate to; it seems that this
    should be possible using the dropdown list control, but i am
    having trouble setting/choosing the correct
    parameters for this (the two main options are Contents of
    list & Purpose of List) - can anybody help???

    You need to set the Contents parameter to "Markers in this
    movie" and
    the Purpose parameter to "Execute..."
    This will tell the behavior to treat the contents of the
    field as a list
    of frame markers and then have the playback head jump to the
    markers
    that matches the selected line in the field.

  • How to set a default value in dropdown list in Wendynpro ABAP? Help!

    Hi Experts,
           I have Webdynpro for ABAP application that shows a DropdownwithKey UI element.
    1. I am able to populate the dropdown list. But by default the list is not showing any value. Only when I select a value from the list then it shows it.
    So how to set the default value to the first value in the list? Any code sample will be really helpfull.
    I have written the following code:
    method WDDOINIT .
      DATA:
        node_category TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_node_info.
      node_category = WD_CONTEXT->GET_NODE_INFO( ).
      node_category = node_category->GET_CHILD_NODE( 'CATEGORY' ).
      data:    LT_VALUESET type WDR_CONTEXT_ATTR_VALUE_LIST,
               L_VALUE type WDR_CONTEXT_ATTR_VALUE.
    L_VALUE-VALUE      = 'V1'.
    L_VALUE-TEXT    = 'yesterday'.
    INSERT L_VALUE into table LT_VALUESET.
    L_VALUE-VALUE      = 'V2'.
    L_VALUE-TEXT    = 'today'.
    INSERT L_VALUE into table LT_VALUESET.
    L_VALUE-VALUE      = 'V3'.
    L_VALUE-TEXT    = 'tomorrow'.
    INSERT L_VALUE into table LT_VALUESET.
    node_category->SET_ATTRIBUTE_VALUE_SET(
                 NAME = 'CAT_VALUE'
                 VALUE_SET = LT_VALUESET ).
    endmethod.
    Note that: I am using webdynpro for ABAP.
    Thanks
    Gopal

    I am not sure how it works in Web Dynpro for ABAP, but in Web Dynpro for Java to set default drop down value you will have to set the value for particular attribute (which is linked to the dropdown element)  in the context
    like
    wdContext.currentContext<nodeName>Element.set<FieldName>(<defalut value>)
    This generally done in Initialization method of the controller.

  • Help with Spark ComboBox with Variable width dropdown list

    I have a Flex 4.0 app which uses a lot of Comboboxes.  These combo boxes can contain relatively large items in relation to the actual combobox size.
    I want the dropdown list width to expand to a size which will fit all the items it has to display - but only when the dropdown list is opened.
    I know there was a way of doing this with the mx components however cannot find any information on this for Spark components.
    Does anybody have a solution for this?
    thanks in advance

    Create a skin for your combobox copying the original one and set popUpWidthMatchesAnchorWidth in the PopUpAnchor to false
