Deplay Crystal Report via web

Hi.
Is there any way to deploy report in intranet.
I have file Report.rpt and i want users to have access to it via www.
Is there any tutorial how to do it?
Best regards
Lukasz Bloch

Hi,
There are several ways to distribute or publish the report :
If you have BO Enterprise or Crystal Reports Server then you can publish this report and create a OpenDocument URL. This can be given to your users to view the report in Browser.
Or
If you want to give your report to users for just to understand the results, then try to download CR2008 offline viewer. This will help you to view .rpt files.
Or
If you are developing your own Web application using .NET or JAVA you can very well embed CR reports and it can be viewed through browser.
Or
If you have BO Enterprise, you can publish this report to your repository and all your BO users can access this report through infoview and view the report.
You need to choose the option to view the report.
Thanks,
Sastry

  • Publishing crystal reports to web

Can anyone give me an idea of how to publish the crystal reports to web. I know we need Crystal Reports Server for that. Apart from that what are the other steps.

    Hello,
    there are some solutions:
    - Deploy CR Server and than the users could access the Reports via InfoView (Web Portal of CRS)
    - Shedule the Report as 3rd Party format (pdf, xls, etc.) to a webserver like IIS or Tomcat so the users can view the report via a browser...but that would be very static
    - shedule the report to a network share and deploy CR Viewer to the Client PCs. So the users could view the .rpt format.

When Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is enabled, using the ActiveX control to print reports from a Crystal 10 DHTML viewer results in the following error message:
"A communication error occurred, printing will be stopped."
How can this error message be resolved?
    Resolution
This is a known issue with Crystal Reports 10 and Crystal Enterprise 10 viewers and has been tracked. The Track ID is ADAPT00282199.
This error occurs due to the receiving application performing a case-sensitive check for the HTTPS request header value "ON". When a sender application sends the value as "on" in lower case, the error occurs. The update below changes the receiving application to be case-insensitive.
Hot Fixes or Service Packs address this issue as indicated below. With the updates, this issue is resolved.
Unless indicated otherwise, Weekly Hot Fix updates from our FTP site have only been tested with English versions of products.
For Crystal Reports 10 and Crystal Enterprise 10, the update for this issue is included in the Crystal 10 Viewers Weekly Hot Fix (WHF). This is available in English only at the following location:
    ftp://ftp.crystaldecisions.com/outgoing/EHF/viewers10win_en.zip
This issue is addressed in the following components (and later versions):
    PageObjectModel.dll, version 10.0.5.785, dated 8/25/2004
    ReportRenderer.dll, version 10.0.5.785, dated 8/25/2004

  • HFM and Workspace 11.1.2.0 issues with opening Apps and reports via web

    Hi,
we are running decentralized environment where we have HFM Web and App servers on Windows 2008 Server SP2 and few shared elements like OHS, HSS (Shared Services) and Workspace service from Solaris 10 SPARC (64bit) server.
The base version is 11.1.2.0 and on Windows we have fixes from 1-9 installed whereas on top of Solaris we have no fixes/patches yet installed.
When we test workspace from web server desktop connecting to Solaris server it seems traffic is fine as Apps are available and browsing them seems to work normally = Webserver is able to locate Workspace on Solaris, Workspace is able to connect to HFM App server and App server again able to connect HFM App db container.
When we access to workspace url over web (the traffic according to my understanding should go via OHS to Webserver and then redirect to Solaris server Workspace and then like mentioned above.
Something gets wrong here as when accessing Workspace url we get non-showing icons, $ characters in messed up menu rows and few error messages like :
    - Invalid or could not find module configuration
    - Required application module hfm.appcontainer is not configured. Please contact your administrator
    - Namespace Communication Error
Also opening test report via web url workspace gives error:
Required application module reporting.reportViewer is not configured. Please contact your administrator.
    +
    Namespace Communication Error
Our experience from previous lower environment was that symptons like described might be caused by wrong service start order. Thus we tried to review this carefully and boot in correct order, but still problems. Also, boot order shouldn't be totally wrong as workspace works when using directly from Web server.
If any of mentioned symptons rings anyone's bell please reply.
Something still in firewalls or rather in configuration, OHS maybe?
At this point we don't yet dream of proper loadbalancing or High availability, but rather get this single web and single app server server + shared elements from Solaris server to work without error messages.
We do know that release 11.1.2.1 is supposed to fix many things, but we need to get this 11.1.2.0 working in a way or another.
Thanks for any tips that might arise.

  • Can we launch Crystal Report via Browser?

    Hi, Experts
I have created a Balance Sheet report (T-Style) with the help of BOBJ-Crystal Reorts.
But I wanna to consume this report via Browser, neither email with PDF/Excel attached, nor Crystal Report 2008 designer.
Is there any solution/tool to make this happen?
    How can I implement it?
    Thanks a lot.
    Peter Zhou

You are able to view Crystal Reports via a browser in a few ways.
    1. Report is published to Enterprise and you use Infoview to browse to the report and view.
    2. Report is published to Enterprise and you use a custom application written in .NET/JAVA to view the report, loading it from your enterprise server.
    3. Report is stored on disk and you use a custom application written in .NET/JAVA to view the report.
For viewing in a custom application please visit [diamond.businessobjects.com|http://diamond.businessobjects.com/]
The documentation for the SDK's can be found in the Developer Library, and sample code can be found under the Sample Code.

    Hi Gurus,

  • Crystal report vs Webi Report

    Hi Expert,
My client  have WEBI and Crysal Report both installed in the system. They want to change all Bex reports to either in Crystal report or WEBI .
My question is what all we need to consider while suggesting a particular type of report. When we should choose WEBI over crystal report?.
Please answer me considering the fact that they are curently using BEX report in SAP BI environment.

    Hi
Crystal is very flexble tool, if you want to use BW with crystal reports, you need to install SAP integration kit to get connected to your BeX queries and pull the data into report.
If you need more secure environment you can go for WEBI reports, these reports can be based off a semantic layer wheich is very secured.
    Thanks,

  • Printing Crystal report from web

I am using crystal report 8.5 and Coldfusion MX 6.1
I open my report in a blank page. Everything show up
    properly.
However, in my report, I have 12 pages. When I print it it
only show up as 1-2 pages. I notice that on screen, when I click
next ( to go to the next page of the report ), the url show up as
whatever my path is and the word "report" + the page -1 + htm
eg. If I am on page 2 of the report, my url would be
    \\localhost\mywebfolder\report1.htm
Anyone have the same problem? Any solution?
    * I am thinking of taking off the grouping in the report, see
    if that make any different!

    Hiya,
It isn't clear how you are calling the report (cfreport,
    location, etc.,).
With 8.5 professional and higher, there is report server; 8.5
enforces the five instance connection license that the 8.0 version
implied and the 7.0 version didn't have at all. This methodology
allows for using the Crystal web report engine which supports the
use of an ActiveX viewer or Java Viewer.
I have an annoyance where an application that has run for
more than five years using the ActiveX viewer used to run without
prompting for database credentials but now does.
Take a look here for some hints
    http://www.vordesigns.com/Portal/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=154
I can send you the page cfm pages I use but it references a
table of report names, you will have to do a little of your own
debugging to get it to work in your enviroment.

  • How to design crystal report with web service data source?

I want to design and run a Crystal Report 2008 against my ADO.NET DataSet from web service method.
I choose New Report, for Data I choose XML, then "Use Web Data Source" hit next, then choose "HTTP WSDL URL" I enter http://localhost/RDWS/Service.asmx?wsdl, hit Next, I leave HTTP username and HTTP password blank. Then I see the Services, Ports and Methods screen. Services: Service, Ports: ServiceSoap, Methods: CustomerOrdersDataSet
When I click Finish, I get Logon Failed, Details, Schema file is invalid. error:Element Schema@htttp://www.w3.or/2001XMLSchemal not found.
How can I get this to work?

The native XML driver is incompatible with ADO.NET DataSet XML.  The specific issue is that the driver cannot handle the recursive definition on "Schema" that the .NET DataSet XML uses.
The workaround is to create a .NET class that Web References, invoke the Web Service method for the DataSet, then returns it.
Use the ADO.NET (XML) driver in Crystal Report to consume the .NET data source.
Note - when you deploy your report, ensure you deploy the DLL for the .NET class you've created.
    Sincerely,
    Ted Ueda

  • Deploy Crystal Report via ClickOnce without .msi

    Hi,
I would like to know whether it's possible to deploy Crystal Report without requiring admin rights from the installer.
My program uses many 3rd party components. Most of them very heavyweight with licensing, COM objects etc but Crystal Report is the only one that needs a .msi install. Is it possible to include Crystal Report's dll with the application? I tried it but Crystal Report failed to load at the form saying there's something wrong with the installation (I didn't "install").

Only way to distribute the CR runtime is via the MSM or MSI files. For links to the msm and msi files see [this|https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=56787567] wiki.

  • Encapsulation Error in Crystal Reports using Web Service Connection

    Hi Experts,
I'd like to request help in investigating an issue we are currently having in Crystal Reports.  Basically, the solution design is:
-Web Service is Used as connection
-Dynamic Hyperlink value is used to access another Crystal Report
Issue: Dynamic Hyperlink value is based on a summary.  We are getting Encapsulation Error message whenever we try to click a link having 30k value.
Does anyone here can give us some tip on how to investigate the issue?  For such cases, which component (datasource, CR, etc.) of the solution normally causes the issue?  Are there any limitation in using Web Service for Crystal Reports?
We'd greately appreciate any help here.
    Kind Regards and Many Thanks,
    Mark

    Hi Mark,
There could be many reasons for this rather 'generic' error. Is the Business Objects Enterprise clustered?
Also, could you try saving both the Main and the target reports to the Enterprise with the 'No printer' option checked.
(File > Page Setup> No Printer).
Also, what happens when the target report is viewed on its own?
Let me know how it goes!

  • Crystal Reports 2008 Web Application Error

    Post Author: Jeff Clark
    CA Forum: .NET
    Hello,
I am using Crystal Reports 2008 and Visual Studio 2005 to create and deploy CR web applications. These applications are installed on a Windows 2003 R2 server with .Net 3.0. I have previously used CR XIR2 for this purpose but upgraded to 2008 because I needed the added functionality in cross-tab reports.
Some of the reports in the web application are pulling from a MySQL database. I am using a JDBC driver (version 5.1.5) to connect Crystal to the database. When I was using CR XIR2, all I needed to do was add the path for the JDBC driver in the CRConfig.xml in "C:\Program Files\Business Objects\common\3.5\java" directory and everything worked great.
The runtime files for CR2008 create a "C:\Program Files\Business Objects\common\4.0" directory, but there is no "java" subfolder and no CRConfig.xml. When I attempt to load one of the MySQL reports I get the following error.
"Error in File %Report Name%.rpt: Failed to load database information. "
Is there a way to load JDBC drivers in the CR2008 runtime files?

I do not believe any java dlls are packaged in the runtimes for .net (same goes for the crdb_xml.dll, which is a java dll). I do not have a cr 2008 deployed server at the moment so I can not verify this.
If you want to use java based db connectivity you will probably need to deploy them with your application.

    hello,Â
in the webelements.zip download you should find a DCP report which shows the method for "rolling up" data using a subreport and passing these to a select control using shared variables.
basically a string running total rolls up the values at run time and character separates them for use by the controls. for any type of select (drop down menu etc.) controls all of the values have to be made available before the main report is run so that's why you use this techique. you can think of it this way...instead of having an asp page that runs a database query and then populates a javascript array for the control, the subreport rolls up the values and passes them to the control.
other types of controls that you wish to place directly on a group header or details section can be run off of main report fields or formulae...e.g. you can place a checkbox control on the details section without having to roll up the data in advance.
by just putting a field name in the parameter for a select control, you will only get one value per control.
i hope that this makes sense as it takes a bit to get used to at first,
    jamie
