Deploy application in Infrastructure installation

I have a PL/SQL applicaition with connection via a DAD and use SSO for authentication:
- Is it recommended to use the Infrastructure installation to deploy it or do I have to use the Mid-tier.
- I changed the mod_osso.conf to protect the /pls/<application>, do I need to run the ssoreg.sh?
Thanks

Hi,
You say that you have Apps which usee DAD &SSO, sound is great.
In order to deploy this application you'll need complete Oracle AS what does it means?.
- you'll need midtier in order to deploy your Apps example J2EE
- you'll need infrastructure which means Oracle LDAP server to be able to use SSO.
SO the steps 'll be as following
- install infra structure (OID, metdata repository, SSO, DAS, DIP) (Optional CA Certificate authority, if you're intented to use SSL)
- install Midtier exampel J2EE
- need to register your midtier in the infrastructur
- Deploy your AppS
- If you're inteneted to use third party example Active Directory, then you can integrate it with OID
THe second part of your quesiotn, you use ssoreg.sh for these reasons,
- if you want to register your midtier by the infra. example if you create the midtier before the infra.
One more thing you can authorize (authenticate) your midtier (J2EE)without infra. this can be happend by using Jazan.xml file in J2EE
For more infroamtion, let me know,
Respectfully,
Hamdy

  • Install agent on solaris 10 using agent deploy application?

    Hi all,
I have installed 10g grid control on solaris 10 with new repository database on same machine.
The OMS, and agent is running on grid host.
Now I want to add other hosts (targets) into grid. For this, I have to install agent on target hosts. I am using agent deploy application method for installation of agent.
    It is giving error
    Istall --> Failed
"Pre-Install Script is Not Executed, Install is Failed, Run root.sh is Not Executed, Post-Install Script is Not Executed, Collection of Logs is Success"
version for agent and OMS is 10.2.0.1 and for repository database is 10.1.04
any idea, how to troubleshoot this?

Did you get answer? I had same problem on agent 10.2.0.4 deployment on linux 2.6.9-55.ELsmp.

    Deploy Application Post-Install

    Hi Kanakavally,
I saw the logs and I can see you have several failed attempts. Initially it had to do with AIALifecycle user already present and now it has to do with changes not getting activated.
I suggest you do another attempt at installation after complete cleanup.
Here is what you can do.
    1. Click finish and exit out of the current Installer window (if you already have it open)
    2. Now launch the deinstaller as per the Installation Guide.
    3. Choose the AIA Home and uninstall (the uninstall bar may not be showing the progress but wait for some time and the uninstall will happen. We are fixing the progress bar issue)
    4. Once this is done, navigate to weblogic console and click deployments in the left nav.
    5. Select all AIA related deployments (if they exist - ideally this will get removed during uninstallation) and click delete
    6. Repeat the process for Datasources, JMS modules and JMS resources (again these dont exist ideally after uninstallation)
    7. Also navigate to security realms, select your realm (myrealm) and then click on the users and groups tab and remove AIA users and AIA groups
    8. Now shutdown the SOA managed server and then shutdown the Admin server as well
    9. Start the admin server
    10. Open the console, see if you have any changes to activate in the Activation. If there is any activate them. If it doesnt get activated undo all changes.
    11. Open the folder Middleware/domains/<your_domain> In this folder remove the file edit.lok.
    12. Also under the folder Middleware/domains/<your_domain>/pending , remove all files.
    14. Once you have done this restart the SOA Server.
    15. Attempt a fresh installation. Ensure that you read all the pre-install steps and instructions in the Install guide carefully before attempting the installation.

  • Discoverer Plus associate with the Oracle Application Server Infrastructure

    Hi Everyone,
I just install the Oracle BI (v 10.1.2.0.2) into my 2003 server so I could use the Discoverer Plus and Viewer. This is a stand alone BI installation (I guess, I have little knowledge about Discoverer plus or Oracle AS).
My question is how could I connect the Discoverer plus to my ODS database, so I could create report or view report.
and where to find the Oracle Application Server Infrastructure (or How do I know I have the Oracle Application Server Infrastructure?)
I read the Oracle BI Discoverer Configuration Guide, and it tell me to associate the Oracle BI with the Oracle Application Server Infrastructure to deploy the Discoverer. so I went to the BI Application Server Control page, the Infrastructure section, the Identity Management to configure the Internet Directory, so I could I have the public connection, but it didn't work.
Also do I real need the Oracle AS Infrastructure to make the Discoverer Plus work?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Kevin,
Oracle AS Infrastructure is needed only if you are implementing SSO for Discoverer or using Public connection .
Else only Oracle AS Middle tier is sufficient to work with Discoverer Plus .
Regarding "how could I connect the Discoverer plus to my ODS database, so I could create report or view report"
You need to create the End User Layer (EUL) and then grant privilege to the EUL to users who will be creating the report .
    Thanks,
    Sutirtha

Please suggest me what to do and how to rectify. Can we work with forms without this component. I am getting the same component failure when I install 9IAS option on infrastructure.
    With best regards and Thanks

    Hi,
Thank you for the information. I installed 3 times but still the same problem persists. Apache is working fine. Hosts file also configured with the same system IP. Is this component important for executing 9i forms and reports. Is there any way to install this component alone.
Can u suggest any good document about installation and configuration of Oracle 9i application for a layman in Oracle 9iAS. if you have any documents can u send them to [email protected]
    Waiting for your replay....
    With best regards

  • Deploying application on OC4J

    Hi,
I am deploying a simple web application on OC4J which comes with 9iAS infraStructure installation. I changed server.xml, application.xml, default-web-site.xml & application.xml in the META-INF folder of my app but i couldn't access the appln after starting OC4J. I am attaching the code snippet that i added to these files. Could anyone please let me know if you could figure out the problem here..

    Hi,
I am facing a deployment problem with ear file.
I have prepared an EAR file using Oracle JDeveloper 9.0.5.1.
When I try to deploy it on Oracle 9iAS (Windows platform) it gets deployed successfully.
But when somebody tries to deploy it on Oracle 9iAS (Unix platform) she gets error mentioned below. I have checked the deployment descriptor (web.xml) and found that everything is alright, including the location (WEB-INF/web.xml).
Could anyone please help me find out the problem so that I can fix it?

  • Reasons for not deploying applications using Task Sequence

    Hi guys!
Could you provide me with some reasons why I shouldn't be using Task Sequences to deploy all of my applications? I like the idea that I can deploy multiple applications and packages at the same time, as well as being able to perform other tasks in the same
Task Sequence if needed. I also really like the progress bar window which shows end user the company and name of application being installed.
The SCCM Unleashed 2012 book mentions that while this is an available option it's not a good practice because "applications are meant to be state-based". Would someone be able to elaborate on that statement?
Is using Task Sequences for deploying applications generally a bad practice that I should try to avoid?

    Hi,
here is a description for state based:
Depending on the deployment purpose you have specified in the deployment type of an application, System Center 2012 Configuration Manager periodically checks that the state of the application is the same as its purpose. For example, if an
application’s deployment type is specified as Required, Configuration Manager reinstalls the application if it has been removed. Only one deployment type can be created per application and collection pair.
If you deploy your applications by using task sequence you bypass this feature. You will install the application. but after this initial installation there will be no further check for the app to be still present on device.
You can use task sequences, but should be aware of the features you bypass in this scenario.

  • Deploying Applications with SCCM 2012 R2 to Server 2008 R2 RDS servers

I'm having some trouble finding some concrete information from Microsoft regarding the deployment of applications to RDS servers using SCCM 2012 R2. There seems to be a lot of conjecture, old information and old wives tales floating around and I was hoping
I could get some information confirmed!
    1. MSI installs automatically switch to install mode on RDS servers?
I've seen this mentioned a few times. I've also seen it mentioned that it is only true when running the MSI from the console session manually (i.e clicking the MSI file) not running as SYSTEM as SCCM would usually do. Can someone confirm if they do this
    themselves or not?
    2. Users still logged in when deploying applications?
Is it possible to deploy an application while users are still logged in? Is this only related to going into 'install' mode and taking the chance that a user will do something that will cause issues? Or is it known to cause issues?
I guess those are the main ones, I'm experienced in SCCM but not with deploying to RDS servers, I cant seem to find any straight answers!
    Anyway, thanks in advance!

I've never had large enough RDS environment to use SCCM for app push, but from my experience in managing 2012/R2 RDS and local installs, I never bother with switching to install mode anymore and it works fine.  Now if you're skeptical, you can
easily build this into a script that runs as a pre-req to your .MSI as part of the software package in SCCM so it's not a big deal.
As for installing apps while users are logged in, shouldn't be a problem if you're installing a new app., if however you're updating an existing application or uninstalling it, then it may be best to drain that RDS host first of all user sessions then do
the work just to be safe.  this also helps avoid reboots.

  • [Forum FAQ] How to deploy applications remotely

In some situations, we may need some ways to install applications remotely, here we summarize four general ways to deploy applications.
    1. Using PowerShell to install
We can use the Win32_Product class to install Windows Installer packages, remotely or locally, so in this way, we can use powerShell command to invoke this function. For example, to install the NewPackage.msi package located in the network
share \\AppServ\remote on the remote computer PC01, type the following command at the Windows PowerShell prompt:
    (Get-WMIObject -ComputerName PC01 -List | Where-Object -FilterScript {$_.Name -eq "Win32_Product"}).Install(\\AppSrv\remote\NewPackage.msi)
In same method, we can use the following command to deploy .exe application:
    (Get-WMIObject -ComputerName PC01 -List | Where-Object -FilterScript {$_.Name -eq "Win32_Process"}).Create(\\AppSrv\remote\NewPackage.exe)
Note: The applications should use Windows Installer technology.
    2. PsExec tool: one of sysinternals utilities
PsExec's most powerful uses include launching interactive command-prompts on remote systems and remote-enabling tools like IpConfig that otherwise do not have the ability to show information about remote systems. So, we can use this feature to install our
applications, in fact this is similar with PowerShell methods, the only difference is that PsExec is a comprehensive tool. Similarly, we can use the following command to achieve our goal:
    psexec \\PC01  cmd /c  "\\AppSrv\remote\NewPackage.msi" /quiet /norestart
Note: we can also use PsExec tool to install Microsoft Update file (.msu)
    psexec \\PC01  -s -h -d wusa.exe  "\\AppSrv\remote\NewPackage.msu" /quiet /norestart
    3. Group Policy Software Installation
In domain environment, this method is very useful to deploy our software. It only supports MSI package for deployment.
We can choose assign a program to user or computer. If you assign the program to a user, it is installed when the user logs on to the computer. When the user first runs the program, the installation is completed. If you assign the program to a computer,
it is installed when the computer starts, and it is available to all users who log on to the computer. When a user first runs the program, the installation is completed.
You can get the installation information of group policy software installation in event viewer, including success or failure.
    4. System Center Configuration Manger
The Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager software distribution feature provides a set of tools and resources that help you create and manage packages and advertisements used to distribute software to client resources within your enterprise. This
is a comprehensive suit for deployment.

Applications that do not use Windows Installer technology may have application-specific methods for automated deployment. For example, a .exe file may be just a wrapper, it can be anything. To determine whether there is a method for deployment automation,
check the documentation for the application or consult the application vendor's support system. In some cases, even if the application vendor did not specifically design the application for installation automation, the installer software manufacturer may have
    some techniques for automation.

Is it possible for you to paste the deployment command that was executed for the above failure? You could try doing a manual install. Before executing the FPInstallDP.xml during the manual install add the following jar to your classpath
    ${MW_HOME}/oracle_common/jlib/commons-cli-1.0.jar.

  • Deployment application Pre-deploy setting

HI all , i have basic questtaion about deployment application .
If I select in the deplyment types "Install for system if resource is device ; otherwise install for user" and "Wheather or not a user is logged on" and deployment collection is user and pre-deploy is checked is the program istall only
to primary device or every computer where user logon ?
    thanx
    Falcon

    Hi,
You can define primary devices. These are typically the devices that users use on a daily basis to perform their work. When you create an affinity between a user and a device, you gain
more software deployment options. For example, if a user requires Microsoft Office Visio, you can install it on the user’s primary device by using a Windows Installer deployment. You can also use user device affinity to pre-deploy software on a user’s device
when the user is not logged in. Then, when the user logs on, the application is already installed and ready to run.

  • Application Server Infrastructure

    please help me,
i installed application server infra and midtier in my local machine, but when i tried to logon to Application Server Infrastructure page using the address <http://xxxx:18100/> its give me a prompt to enter the u/p so i put ias_admin and the password then its give me empty page and the following address in the address bar http://xxxx:18100/emd/console/targets "xxxx is my computer name"
when i want to logon to midtier its i put <http://xxxx:18101/> then after the prompt its enable me to logon and see the both infra and middtier when i press in middtier i can see all services is green , when i click on middtier its give this error:
**An error was encountered while loading page. We were unable to find a target. This probably indicates a stale bookmark, or a configuration problem.**
and this address on the address bar:"http://xxxx:18100/emd/console/ias/applicationServer$farm=infrastucture.xxxx$type=oracle*_ias$target=infrastucture.xxxx?event=doLoad"
all infra services is alive except dsa and logloader wich is normal

    Hi.
Maybe it's a name problem, usually when you install and your don't have configured the /etc/host file or DNS like
    *10.50.0.0 mycomputer.mydomain.com*
and you have none or have
    *10.50.0.0 mycomputer*
The installer may use one domain like mycomputer.com
Try to check in the infra oracle host under /install/ias.config you will be able to find the appropiated name, and if so, you may change your /etc/host file as is there.
    Regards.

  • Why is my deployed application not executing functions from an external .dll?

My application executes python scripts via function calls made to the python C/API, python24.dll.  It works fine in the development environment, but my deployed application does not seem to find the .dll since the the application crashes at what seems to be the first attempt to access the python shared library.
I believe I've included all the necessary support files.  LV automatically included python24.dll into the installer.  And I've tried to make all the paths to script files and other support files point to where the app.exe is located...some debugging windows have shown the paths to be correct in the deployed app.  The call library function nodes are configured to find the python .dll in the win\system32 folder.
I feel like I'm missing some step in the build process since it works in the development environment, but perhaps there is some other trick using CLFN's that I don't understand.
    I using LV7.
    Thanks.

    Hello CraigerB,
It seems like you are doing everything the right way. Click on the following link for a related discussion forum post.
Here is what you can try:
    1. Place the dll in the C:\WINDOWS\system32 on your development machine.
    2. Make sure your Call Library Function Node VI is pointing to C:\WINDOWS\system32\python24.dll
    3. Build your executable
    4. LabVIEW will not make a copy of your python24.dll because it will treat it differently
    5. Manually copy the python24.dll to the target PC's C:\WINDOWS\system32\
    6. Make sure you have all supporting files for your python24.dll to insure the dll itself is working.
    7. If you are using relative paths to call your dll, switch to hard paths, or take a look at this KB for relevent information.
    Hope this helps!
