Application Server Infrastructure

please help me,
i installed application server infra and midtier in my local machine, but when i tried to logon to Application Server Infrastructure page using the address <http://xxxx:18100/> its give me a prompt to enter the u/p so i put ias_admin and the password then its give me empty page and the following address in the address bar http://xxxx:18100/emd/console/targets "xxxx is my computer name"
when i want to logon to midtier its i put <http://xxxx:18101/> then after the prompt its enable me to logon and see the both infra and middtier when i press in middtier i can see all services is green , when i click on middtier its give this error:
**An error was encountered while loading page. We were unable to find a target. This probably indicates a stale bookmark, or a configuration problem.**
and this address on the address bar:"http://xxxx:18100/emd/console/ias/applicationServer$farm=infrastucture.xxxx$type=oracle*_ias$target=infrastucture.xxxx?event=doLoad"
all infra services is alive except dsa and logloader wich is normal

Hi.
Maybe it's a name problem, usually when you install and your don't have configured the /etc/host file or DNS like
*10.50.0.0 mycomputer.mydomain.com*
and you have none or have
*10.50.0.0 mycomputer*
The installer may use one domain like mycomputer.com
Try to check in the infra oracle host under /install/ias.config you will be able to find the appropiated name, and if so, you may change your /etc/host file as is there.

  • Discoverer Plus associate with the Oracle Application Server Infrastructure

    Hi Everyone,
I just install the Oracle BI (v 10.1.2.0.2) into my 2003 server so I could use the Discoverer Plus and Viewer. This is a stand alone BI installation (I guess, I have little knowledge about Discoverer plus or Oracle AS).
My question is how could I connect the Discoverer plus to my ODS database, so I could create report or view report.
and where to find the Oracle Application Server Infrastructure (or How do I know I have the Oracle Application Server Infrastructure?)
I read the Oracle BI Discoverer Configuration Guide, and it tell me to associate the Oracle BI with the Oracle Application Server Infrastructure to deploy the Discoverer. so I went to the BI Application Server Control page, the Infrastructure section, the Identity Management to configure the Internet Directory, so I could I have the public connection, but it didn't work.
Also do I real need the Oracle AS Infrastructure to make the Discoverer Plus work?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Kevin,
Oracle AS Infrastructure is needed only if you are implementing SSO for Discoverer or using Public connection .
Else only Oracle AS Middle tier is sufficient to work with Discoverer Plus .
Regarding "how could I connect the Discoverer plus to my ODS database, so I could create report or view report"
You need to create the End User Layer (EUL) and then grant privilege to the EUL to users who will be creating the report .
    Thanks,

  • Oracle Application Server Infrastructure  & Middle Tiers?

    Hi,
Can someone explain in simple words what is meant by Oracle Application Server Infrastructure and Oracle Application Server Middle Tiers and what the difference is between them?
    Thanks!

    That's right.
mainly there are two major groups of components in infrastructure:
    - identity management (including Single-Sign-On, Oracle Internet Directory, Oracle Certificate Authority, some security schemas, etc), and
    - metadata repository (which houses data even portal in the default installation if you have one)
middle-tiers run the applications. if you have java or OC4J applications, you will run them from mid-tier; or forms and reports or Business Intelligence, or portals & wireless, all would run from a midtier. but all will use infrastructure for a security, access (SSO), directory services, etc. you can have multiple midtiers connected to the same infrastructure too.

  • Oracle application server infrastructure causing problems

I found out that in order to install OracleAS Business Intelligence and Forms, I first need to install OracleAS Infrastructure. Now I have one machine for all these tests (Windows). I have already installed the database (10g 2) and the installation went wonderfully. When I try to install OAS Infrastructure, apparently it tries to install a whole new database!
How can I get OASI it to use the existing database? (first inkling of this problem was when i was warned of a port coflict at port 1521).
By the way, the OAS installation guide is around 300 pages, I have been asked to do a quick installation to see if we will use oracle for DB AND BI...so sorry if this solution is common knowledge. Thanks!

    A couple of points here:
    1. If all you need is Discoverer, and do not particularly care about having public connections / Discoverer portlets, etc... then you do not need to install the BI & Forms option of the app server. You should download and install Oracle Business Intelligence from the App Server download page. This will allow you to install Discoverer in a 'standalone' mode, where it will not be associated with any infrastructure database. This Discoverer installation can then be used against any certified Oracle database (9.2 or 10.1) for both relational and OLAP reporting.
    2. The infrastructure components - Identity Management (IM) and Metadata Repository (MR) - require an Oracle database, which is what you encountered when installing the BI&Forms install type. This infrastructure database is specially configured to hold an app server infrastructure metadata and comes with pre-seeded schemas. It is also licensed differently from a regular Oracle database that you would have purchased a license for. Therefore, you cannot make an existing databae to hold the infrastructure repository.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks

  • 10.2 Application Server SSO setup issue.

    Hello,
I just installed a 10.2 Application Server Infrastructure installation, and I'm trying to set up SSO w/ PKI.

  • Installing Application Server 10g R2 on Windows Server 2008

    Hi all,
I want install Oracle Application Server 10g R2 on Windows Server 2008 ( 64 bit).
It always prompt error "ORA-12560: TNS Adapter error", when I try to install Oracle Application Server Infrastructure 10g.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    MKBH

Basically use for internal web server only. I'm not sure can I use Oracle weblogic 11g instead of OracleAS 10g R2. I'll use some of the components like Oracle HTTP Server, Oracle Application Server Containers for J2EE(OC4J), Reports Services, Forms Services, Metadata Repository for Oracle Application Server Middle-Tier and etc.

  • Oracle Application Server 10g/Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g

Hi folks, This question related to migration/upgrade of Oracle Application Server infrastructure.
I see that the Oracle has come up with Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g. Is it the next release of Oracle Application Server 10g. I have the following questions. Appreciate if any one can provide answers to the following questions. Please correct me if my understanding of these oracle products is not right! Thanks
    1. What is the future of Oracle Application Server?
    2. Is it Oracle Fusion Middleware(OFM) 11g is the upgrade path if one need
    to upgrade?
    3. Is it expected that expected that customers need(if require) to move to OFM 11g?
    4. Does OFM 10g comes with Oracle Application Server? If not what does
    it comes with?
    5. If it does not, what about customers having applications built using oracle forms and reports? Does OFG 11g
    support Oracle forms and reports?
I understand that OFM 10g comes with Oracle web logic server!
    Thanks in advance.
    movva

To run Forms and Reports in Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g you have to use the distribution "Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer" in the FMW 11g software pack.
The structure of what we used to call "the application server" has changed a bit however, in the following way:
    - In 11g you need to install the Javaserver WebLogic software (version 10.3.3 for the current Forms 11g version 11.1.1.3) first.
In 10g the installation of the Javaserver (OC4J) was part of the App server install.
Note that you just have to install the software, the configuration script for creating a Forms app server instance creates the WebLogic domain (comparable with the OC4J instance) for you.
    - In 11g the Fusion Middleware software installation is separate from the creation of an application server instance.
This is more convenient and comparable to Oracle database and Weblogic installation.
    - The Fusion Middleware Configuration script installs two parts of the product: 1. A WebLogic Domain. 2. A Fusion Middleware instance.
The first contains everything related to Java, such as the servlet configuration file (formsweb.cfg), while the latter contains everything that has less to do with the Javaserver
    - No more Infrastructure server
The Infrastructure server does not exist anymore. If you want to use Single Sign On with Forms/Reports 11g you can install Identity Management 10.1.4.3 (or use Identity Management 11g, and configure separately the 10.1.4.3 Single Sign On) or keep your old 10g Infrastructure installation.
During installation you just have to specify you want to use OID and SSO and it configures out of the box.
Under normal circumstances the same licenses apply to 10g and 11g (as long as you do not use WebLogic for other purposes).

  • The Best Releas Of Oracle Application Server 10g (BI Forms&Reports)

    hi all
i am asking u to loock with me to the best solution for my environment
becuse we want to upgrade our Environment work :
    Current Work Environment:
    - Oracle Database Server R 8i as (database)
    - Oracle Developer 2000 as (Forms & Reports)
our comunity is welling to upgrade our work to 10g
and we are asking for the best release that we can use to a complish the best senario for our environment .
i have the current seggestion :
    - Upgrade the database to R 10gR2 (Export&Import).
    - Install & Migrate the developer side as Infrastruction Appliction Server 10gR(10.1.2.0 ) .
    - Install the Middle Tire as BI Forms&Reports & Migrate our whole system to the new Release using developer Suite 10g .
i am asking you'r seggestions & Best Bractice in my case .
also what is the most Stable relase we can use .
    thanks .

    Hi Ibrahim,
You can do an easier installation by only using base release of 10.1.2.0.2. What I stated would be good practice:
    By * DB 10.2.0.3 ---- > u mean (Database Version) => Yes, use Database version 10.2.0.3
By * Identity Management 10.1.4.0.1 (OID/SSO) -----> u mean (Application Server infrastructure) => Yes, use Identity Management 10.1.4.0.1 instead of the infrastructure on Application Server 10.1.2.0.2
By * Application Server 10.1.2.0.2 -----> u mean (Middle Tire Forms&Report Services) => Yes, use Application Server 10.1.2.0.2 as middle-tier. When installed, upgrade it to 10.1.2.2 (with the latest patchset)
By * Patch Application Server DB client to 10.1.0.5 ----> u mean what? => Before you upgrade AS to 10.1.2.2 it's mandatory to upgrade the Database client software in the Application Server 10.1.2.0.2 home to 10.1.0.5. Default is 10.1.4. You'll see database client version by for instance starting SQL*Plus.
For your Developer (Forms) upgrade: Forms 4.0/4.5 - 6i -> 10g. See: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/forms/htdocs/upgrade/index.html. If you have tons of Forms, then I recommend using a tool like the great PITTS.CON (http://www.pitss.com/en/pcon/index.htm).

    Hi,
This is a 10.1.2 IM (Identity Management) installation performed against a 9.0.4 MR (Metadata Repository) created with RepCA. 10.1.2 IM install against 9.0.4 MR is not supported. This error is seen when installing 10.1.2 IM against 9.0.4 MR .
    Solution
    1) Install a 10.1.2 MR with repCA or with the 10.1.2 AS installer
    2) Install 10.1.2 IM against the 10.1.2 MR

  • Application server Disaster Backup

    Hello all,
Is there any way to do a complete backup of all application server and put on tape for disaster like something like rman for database?
I know cloning for app server, but if I want do weekly disaster backup, is it reasonable to run pre-clone, clone and put on tape every week?
    Thanks in advance,
    Arvin

Yes, you can tar and zip the files for the application server files to tape.
Also, Oracle 10g Application Server provides a backup and restore utilty in the format of a shell script called
bkp_restore.sh on Linux/UNIX platform and bkp_restore.bat on Windows.
Here is a good tutorial on how to backup and restore Oracle 10gAS:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/hi_av/backup_recovery.htm
Details on backup and recovery with 10gAS:
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B15904_01/core.1012/b13995/br_tool.htm
Also, to backup and recover the 10g Application Server infrastructure database you can use RMAN since it is an Oracle database.
