  • Error deploying war file to Oracle OC4J

    Hi
    I am deploying a WAR file compiled under creator 2 update 1 and exported for the 1.3 environment. The WAR is to be deployed on Oracle's OC4J 10.1.2.0.2 server.
    Previously, everything worked fine, and I could deploy this war and make all the oracle config changes required to run the creator application. Now, it has stopped working. However, I can deploy another app compiled in the same way to oc4j no worries.
    When I deploy this particular WAR file (for this particular project), I get the following error:
    500 Internal Server Error
    java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Resource /faces/index.jsp not found     at com.evermind[Oracle Application Server Containers for J2EE 10g (10.1.2.0.2)].server.http.EvermindPageContext.forward(EvermindPageContext.java:221)     at JSCreator_index._jspService(_JSCreator__index.java:47)     [SRC:/JSCreator_index.jsp:3]     at com.orionserver[Oracle Application Server Containers for J2EE 10g (10.1.2.0.2)].http.OrionHttpJspPage.service(OrionHttpJspPage.java:56)     at oracle.jsp.runtimev2.JspPageTable.service(JspPageTable.java:350)     at oracle.jsp.runtimev2.JspServlet.internalService(JspServlet.java:509)     at oracle.jsp.runtimev2.JspServlet.service(JspServlet.java:413)     at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:853)     at com.evermind[Oracle Application Server Containers for J2EE 10g (10.1.2.0.2)].server.http.ServletRequestDispatcher.invoke(ServletRequestDispatcher.java:824)     at com.evermind[Oracle Application Server Containers for J2EE 10g (10.1.2.0.2)].server.http.ServletRequestDispatcher.forwardInternal(ServletRequestDispatcher.java:330)     at com.evermind[Oracle Application Server Containers for J2EE 10g (10.1.2.0.2)].server.http.HttpRequestHandler.processRequest(HttpRequestHandler.java:830)     at com.evermind[Oracle Application Server Containers for J2EE 10g (10.1.2.0.2)].server.http.AJPRequestHandler.run(AJPRequestHandler.java:224)     at com.evermind[Oracle Application Server Containers for J2EE 10g (10.1.2.0.2)].server.http.AJPRequestHandler.run(AJPRequestHandler.java:133)     at com.evermind[Oracle Application Server Containers for J2EE 10g (10.1.2.0.2)].util.ReleasableResourcePooledExecutor$MyWorker.run(ReleasableResourcePooledExecutor.java:192)     at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:534)
    Now, it seems to be that the server can't find the index.jsp page which is redirected to from the jscreator_index.jsp default file. however, the index.jsp file is there in the war file - and seems to be valid. I am not sure if it is something to do with the /faces/ mapping as I can't figure out where this is set or pointing to.
    Anyone got any pointers as to where I can look for a config issue with this WAR or with OC4J to see if everything is being set up right. Like I say, if I compile any other WAR and deploy it in exactly the same sequence of steps it works fine - something i tested by running up a quick test app to the server and checking it could be served.
    I can still deploy an older version of this war, which tells me it is to do with something that has changed in the last 6 weeks or so of our development, but I am not sure how to go about trouble shooting this war file to see what I can do to fix the issue.
    any help would be really appreciated.
    ta
    ben

    on a follow up to this, it seems that the issue was caused by the source safe product - we had got some of the project files checked into source safe, and after checking them out, the war would compile and deploy and run. i am following this up but if anyone has any pointers as to why this might be or what file (the nbproject directory specifically, plus the manifest file) would cause this sort of behavior, I would appreciate it

                        I should say you that we do not have a package and class like: com.wira.webservices.bpel.jaxws.RequestResponse and it looks like WLS is mistaken about this.
              Indeed this application works fine on Sun java application server 9 (java ee 5 certified). Can you please tell me why does it happens?
              here is source code of Wsti class
                        @WebService()
              public class Wsti {
                  @WebMethod(operationName="requestResponse")
                  public String requestResponse(@WebParam(name="request") String request) {
                      return ReflectionManager.call(WstiImp.class, request);
                                            for reflection we used standard JDK reflection stuff.
              and that call method call a method identified in request from WstiImp class.
              Thanks

    Following are the steps involved in deploying a WAR file in Oc4j.
    1. Copy the file to D:\oc4j\j2ee\home\applications where d:\oc4j is the location OC4J is installed in.
    copy mywar.war D:\oc4j\j2ee\home\applications
    2. Open the application.xml file in D:\oc4j\j2ee\home\config directory
    and add the following after the <web-module id="defaultWebApp" path="../default-web-app" />
    line:
    <web-module id="mywar" path="../applications/mywar.war" />
    3. Open the default-web-site.xml file in D:\oc4j\j2ee\home\config
    directory and add the following after the <default-web-app application="default" name="defaultWebApp" /> line:
    <web-app application="default" name="mywar" root="/mywar" />
    Hope this helps

  • Deploying war file on iplanet application server 6.5

    Hi ,
    We are trying to deploy WebObjects application on Iplanet Application server server 6.5.
    Steps we tried for deployment :
    1) War file generated by WebObjects.
    2) Started IPlanet Application server.
    3) Opened the War file in the deployment tool.
    4) Verified that the WAR file to be deployed using the verify option in the deployment tool(Verified successfully)
    5) We tried to save the archive, then it throws an error saying "
    "Invalid entry compressed size (expected 52 bytes but got 51 bytes)".
    We ignored this message and proceeded further by clicking on OK.
    6) Deployed the WAR file using the deploy option
    7) In the deploy message box, it diplays that the application was deployed successfully.
    Then we tried to access the application by trying the following url : " http://localhost/NASApp/<CONTEXT NAME>/WebObjects/<APPLICATION NAME>"
    (eg : http://localhost/NASApp/SampleApplication/WebObjects/SampleApplication.woa>)
    We are getting the error saying that " GXError". We are not sure whether the the above mentioned url is the correct way to access the application !
    What we think the problem in deployment is
    i) because of error while saving the WAR file (Invalid entry compressed size (expected 52 bytes but got 51 bytes)
    ii) URL not appropriate
    Other observations :
    We tried to deploy to deploy sample application on Iplanet Application server. All these sample applications are deployed properly without the above mentioned error message. All these application are accessed by typing following url : " http:localhost/NASApp/<CONTEXT NAME>/<APPLICATION NAME>". IN all the sample application, url contains "NASApp" . We are not sure what this stand for and maps to. What we assumed is that it maps to the the iplanet app document root i.e "installedroot/ias6/ias/App"
    The exception throw while saving the WAR file is " com.iplanet.ias.tools.buzz.util.ArchiveHandlerException"
    Has any body who has tried this can help us?
    Thanks,
    Raju and Venkatesh

    Hi,
    First of all the application you are trying is from a WebObjects application server. I don't know how they package the modules and what is the format/file structure. I just went to their site, though they say that the WebObjects applications can be deploy on any J2EE Application server but still how they package and how they write the xml descriptors is not known.
    Looking at your exception it seem that first it is something to do the war/jar archive file compression thing (as the deployment tool is not able to read the complete file) then comes the deployment descriptors.
    I tried to get a few sample application from their site but I couldn't fine any, it will be great help if you can provide a WebObjects sample app to me (mail it to [email protected]).
    Regarding the NASApp string in URL, it has nothing to do with document root of iAS and also installedroot/ias6/ias/APPS dir is not the document root of iPlanet app server, this is the place where it save/explodes all the archives (ear).
    See iPlanet App server don't have any HTTP daemon to listen to the HTTP requests, so it needs a web server with a plugin (web connector) to forward the HTTP requests meant for iAS, and this NASApp string in the URL is the key to that.
    All the URLs are first send to the iAS plugin (as configured in web server's obj.conf file) and plugin look for this NASApp string (configurable), if it is there in the URL then it converts the HTTP request and send it to iAS over a proprietary protocol (KCP), otherwise it gives the request as it is to web server to process it.
    The NASApp string is a iAS registry parameter which you can change any time. And generally the context root part of the URL is the war file name (by default). So the typical URL for any web application (MyWeb.war) will be:
    http://<host>:<port>/NASApp/MyWeb/<Servlet_name>.
    I don't know why that extension "*.woa" is there. So if you send me a sample war file, I will be able to try it out.
    Please feel free to ask further questions.

  • Deploying a war file on Oracle's ApacheJServ

    Hi all,
    I am attempting to deploy a war file on Oracle 9i's Apache JServ. The docs from Oracle are immense and I haved searched them to no avail.
    Does anyone know how to deploy a war file(that I have created with netbeans) to JServ?
    Specifically what directory to drop the war file into(Tomcat it is webapps and then restart and the app is ready)
    I am hoping it is this easy in JServ.
    Thanks in advance!!!

    I love precise questions like this. :)
    My understanding is that JServ does not automatically unpack WAR files, which might be why you're running into problems. I do notice that Sun Microsystems at this point recommends Tomcat over JServ so I seriously doubt you'll ever get that functionality. You will have to manually unpack the WAR and place the files where they should go.
    I do remember that servlets must go into the c:/JServ/servlets directory, and the zone.properties file in that directory must be modified to recognize the presence of the servlets you are adding.
    This was before JSPs so I'm not certain where they go. The Oracle documentation I just looked at implies that you can place JSP files in the c:/Apache Group/Apache/htdocs directory as if they were normal HTML files. They do not mention whether you have to configure Apache to redirect JSPs to JServ. I would think this is the case, and suggest looking at the JServ specific documentation.
    If you're still stuck, let us know and we'll help you research it further.

    Regards,

    Hi Srinivas,
    There is no need to deploy MapBuilder in an Application Server. You can start it at the command line with for example:
    java -jar mapbuilder.jar -noconnect

  • Cannot redploy WAR files on Oracle 10g Application Server 9.0.4

    Hello,
    I may be missing something obvious, but how do I redploy .WAR files using the 10g Enterprise Manager? It has an option to Deploy WAR files, but not Redeploy them.
    If this is not possible, could someone tell me how to create an EAR file manually from the command line, or point to a URL with some instructions? I do not always have access to a GUI when creating the .WAR files, so I cannot use JDeveloper nor X-WIndow based UNIX applications.
    Thanks for any advice you can offer.

    Just use the same "Deploy" option. If there is a previous deployment, It will be automatically removed. In another word, the "Deploy" option is also the "Redeploy" option. Isn't it simple? The same can be said with an EAR file.

  • Deploy war-files on application server 6.40?

    Hello,
    when i try to deploy war-files direct from sap netweaver developer studio 2.0.5 it is not possible. It is possible to deploy a war-file direct on the application server by an tool?
    Thanks,
    Frank

    The RemoteGui.bat is a GUI client for the SDM tool, which is the same tool that you use when deploying from the Developer Studio. So, the answer to your question is again no, you must pack your application into an EAR to deploy it on the server.
    However, you can use the Deploy Tool that comes with J2EE Engine to deploy a J2EE application module. For more information, see the following documentation: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/55/600e64a6793d419b82a3b7d59512a5/frameset.htm

  • Error while deploying war file inOC4J through o9ias

    Dear friends
    I receive an error while deploying a war file to oracle 9i application server stating that one or more process is running, shutdown by 9iAS or by enterprise manager or use dcmctl resynInstance to free the resource.
    This error happens when one deploy is either interrupted or not deployed properly. But even after stopping the process by "dcmctl stop" or by the command "dcmctl resynInstance" i am not able to deploy any more applications. Kindly guide me

    You probably want to post this question over in the OC4J forum or in one of the 9iAS forums. ODBC is a Windows C++ & VB client API, so it doesn't have a lot to do with the Oracle application server or OC4J.

    I believe your understanding is correct. Please see (Note: 557221.1 - Oracle WebCenter 10g Application Creation and Deployment Guide for Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12) but it is for R12 for the steps of deploying war files.

  • Deploying WAR files in JDeveloper

    How do I deploy war file in JDeveloper? In Tomcat, I can just place the war file in the webapps directory and it deploys by itself, but, in JDev what needs to be done?

    Try the following section in the online help:
    Testing and Optimizing Your Code >
    Running in JDeveloper >
    Running Java Programs
    http://otn.oracle.com/jdeveloper/902/help/
    You can import a war file into JDeveloper.
    I just want to know how I import a war file in JDeveloper when only one choice is given - EAR file.
    OC4J is the Oracle J2EE container (Servlet,JSP and
    EJB server). It is embedded inside JDeveloper to let
    you test run your J2EE applications.
    You can also install it stand alone on your server -
    and JDeveloper will let you deploy directly to it.
