Deploying Flex in Tomcat
I've got a Flex application that I'd like to deploy as a
webpage. It works when I run it from Flex Builder, however, when I
deploy it on the Tomcat server on my machine, parts of it break.
The part that breaks is one of my buttons which uses HTTPService to
perform a Rest Post to another web service and fill a variable with
the result. It doesn't work on the deployed version and I can't
figure out why.
In order to deploy, I clicked the 'Export Release Button' and
then copied everything in the release folder to my tomcat folder. I
then navigate to the html page, and most of it works, just not the
part using HTTPService. Do I need to copy additional files or set
some security options? Thanks for any help, I'm almost done with
this first application.
Managed to resolve the issue. The problem was with not having
a crossdomain.xml which allows Flex to access and receive data from
other domains. To fix the problem I simply created a
crossdomain.xml (whose format can be found online easily enough)
and put it in the ROOT webapp folder of my tomcat directory.

I am using Flash builder 4 to compose a flex application. I find no way to create a war f
ile so as to deploy it on the tomcat. I am new to both flex and tomcat. Please gui
de me.Hello..
you can try menu option project--->Export release Build, this will create a production project build . Just copy the created one into tomcat web-app directory. after that just run your app root mxml file.
Say an example -- http://llocalhost:8080/appname/appname.mxml.

Deploying servlet on Tomcat using "ant install" not working. Please help.
Hello. Normally I can find answers by using search, but I can't today for some reason. So please bare with me if this has been mentioned before. I will try to provide as much info as possible so that helping me isn't too much a chore. Thank you.
I have downloaded and installed the JWSDP 1.3. and Tomcat is running. I am also using Ant 1.5.4 (previous installation - not one included with JWSDP) and modeled my build.xml file after the template provided here:
http://jakarta.apache.org/tomcat/tomcat-5.0-doc/appdev/build.xml.txt.
When I run ant on my respository, everything builds fine. But when I run Ant with the install target, I get the following error:
BUILD FAILED
file:C:/owl/build.xml:366: java.io.IOException: Server returned HTTP response co
de: 401 for URL: http://localhost:8080/manager/deploy?path=%2Fowl&war=file%3A%2F
%2FC%3A%5Cowl%2Fbuild
Here is line 366 build.xml:
localWar="file://${build.home}"/>
...which is included in this block for the target "install":
<target name="install" depends="compile"
description="Install application to servlet container">
<deploy url="${manager.url}"
username="${manager.username}"
password="${manager.password}"
path="${app.path}"
localWar="file://${build.home}"/>
</target>
When I point my brower to the url located in the error verbose, I get the following:
FAIL - Encountered exception java.lang.NullPointerException
I am trying to get my environment set up correctly before I start spending time developing servlets, but I am getting tempted to just develop to servlets and "manually" installing/deploying them either by copying and pasting or by using the Tomcat manager. I would really like to do everything from Ant though if possible. Please help.I don't think this is at all correct:
localWar="file://${build.home}"/>You've got to create a real WAR file - a JAR file with WEB-INF and all its minions inside it:
http://access1.sun.com/techarticles/simple.WAR.html
That's the file you need to refer to there. You can manage that with Ant too, of course.

first create a arbitrary folder in \webapp folder in tomcat home foder.
for instance \webapp\myJSP
second you must create a folder with this name : \WEB-INF under myJSP folder
then make a web.xml in that
so write in web.xml this :
<web-app xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee"
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/j2ee/web-app_2_4.xsd"

How to Build and Deploy Flex application in EP6
Hi All,
Can anyone tell how to build and deploy Flex application in EP6.
I want to build a normal application in flex and present it through iviews. How do I configure my Iiview to have flex component running in Portal Environment.
Thanks
DeepakA good book to start with is Enterprise JavaBeans by Monson-Haefel (O'Reilly press). It covers deployment of EJBs on J2EE servers. Also check out sites specific to your server, sometimes they have specific requirements (like Weblogic).

how can deploying BO with Tomcat?Hi,
This is a question to ask in the Apache forums if you plan to use it as load balancer.
I presume that you should set the method accordingly to your needs:

Problem when rendering a report in BI Publisher deployed on Apache Tomcat
Hello for all.
First, I am going to tell you technical specifications about the software where I have deployed BI Publisher:
1. OS: Windows XP SP3
2. JDK and JRE: 1.6.0_24
3. Apache Tomcat: 5.5.33 (Set JVM Max Memory in 768MB)
4. BI Publisher EE: 10.1.3.4.1
I have deployed BI Publisher on Apache Tomcat without any problem, I uploaded Report files (both XDO and RTF), and I can see the reports in XML output format, but when I try to see the reports rendered by using the rtf file I have configured, BI Publisher shows me an Error; I checked the Apache Tomcat log and the following error is reported:

I checked that the url http://localhost:8080/xmlpserver/SubTemplates/sub-template-parameters.rtf would be accesible via Internet Explorer, and It is accesible.
I am glad if you can tell me what could be the cause of the error.
Thanks.Finally, I stop working in the implementation of BIP over Apache Tomcat; I installed OC4J 10.1.3.5.0 (standalone installation) and I deployed BIP on it.
It seems the error I wrote in last post has been fixed, but actually I am obtaining the following error with the deployment on OC4J:

Edited by: 1000221 on Apr 15, 2013 8:11 PMHi,
We are running TREX 6.1.09.00 on EP6.0.9.0.0 and KMC6.0.9.0.0.
We are experiencing the same problems, even after changing the value in the .ini file as specified in NOTE 766197.
After doing changes, I restarted the server after doing the changes.
Alessandro, have you got any ideas for fixing this?

Error on deploying war to Tomcat
Hi,
I am a new bie trying to develop a Web application.
I have deployed a war to tomcat 5.0.25, when I try to access the ContextRoot (there is a default.jsp file in the war, that should be invoked on eneterinh the COntextRoot in the browser address bar) it gives me an error saying:

Also, should I include the JDK 1.4 lib/jar files in the war file? Is that causing this error?
Please help me. Thanks in advance.Hi,
Thank you for your suggestion. your point about the folders could be right.
Because for some reason, the folders org, org/apache, org/apache/grp under:
/usr/local/tomcat/work/Catalina/localhost/FTPSchedulerWeb/
were not getting created. And so we manually created them and attached them to the necessary group, to get proper file permissions.
But my doubt still remains as to why those folders were not created. Well there is one point I want to ask here, in teh Tomcat server web.xml file, the following code is not present:
<webapp>

.
.
<servlet>
<servlet-name>jsp</servlet-name>
<servlet-class>org.apache.jasper.servlet.JspServlet</servlet-class>
</servlet>
<servlet-mapping>
<servlet-name>jsp</servlet-name>
<url-pattern>*.jsp</url-pattern>
</servlet-mapping>
<servlet-mapping>
<servlet-name>jsp</servlet-name>
<url-pattern>*.jspx</url-pattern>
</servlet-mapping>
..
.
.
</webapp>Could that be a possible reason as to why the server is unable to create those folders? Well, I do not know the actual reason. Please let me know what possibly could be the reason for this problem.
Thanks a lot for your help!! -
Messaging working in BlazeDS deployed on Windows Tomcat but failing in Tomcat deployed on Ubuntu
I have been going round and round on this for days. I have no idea how to solve it. Everything works fine in windows but now I have to move to Ubuntu. I set up a streaming server with BlazeDS which is messaging to my clients great when my war is in tomcat 7 on windows but is failing in tomcat 7 on Ubuntu.
I see my client connect to BlazeDS on Ubuntu. The DEBUG messages print out that I have a client subscribed. It says that I have one FlexSession for an id and one client subscribed to streaming-amf. Then, a few seconds later, it says that the client sent a duplicate request "streaming-amf recieved a duplicate sreaming connection request from, FlexClient with id ... Faulting request."
Next the log files print out that there are no streaming clients for the FlexSession and no streaming clients for the endpoint streaming-amf.
This is the same software that works fine in the Windows Tomcat container but is not in Ubuntu Tomcat even though the WAR is exactly the same. In case it helps, my config files and calls are below:
messaging-config.xml
<destination id="sp-streamingchannel">
<properties>
<network>
<session-timeout>0</session-timeout>
<throttle-inbound policy="ERROR" max-frequency="50"/>
<throttle-outbound policy="REPLACE" max-frequency="500"/>
</network>
<server>
<allow-subtopics>true</allow-subtopics>
<subtopic-separator>.</subtopic-separator>
<max-cache-size>1000</max-cache-size>
<message-time-to-live>0</message-time-to-live>
<durable>true</durable>
</server>
</properties>
<channels>
<channel ref="streaming-amf"/>
</channels>
<adapter ref="SPStreamingAdapter"/>
</destination>
services-conf.xml
<channel-definition id="streaming-amf" class="mx.messaging.channels.StreamingAMFChannel">
<endpoint url="http://localhost:8080/SP-Web-1.0/messagebroker/spamf" class="flex.messaging.endpoints.StreamingAMFEndpoint"/>
<properties>

<user-agent match-on="AdobeAIR" kickstart-bytes="2048" max-streaming-connections-per-session="2" />
</user-agent-settings>
</properties>
</channel-definition>
The calls in Flex:
public var channelDest:String = "http://98.193.212.138:8080/SP-Web-1.0/messagebroker/spamf";
private var channelName:String = "streaming-amf";
channelSet = new ChannelSet();
channel = new StreamingAMFChannel(channelName, channelDest);
var c:StreamingAMFChannel = new StreamingAMFChannel();
channelSet.addChannel(channel);
channel.connect(channelSet);
consumer = new Consumer();
consumer.destination = "sp-streamingchannel";
consumer.channelSet = channelSet;
consumer.subtopic = "table." + tableID;
consumer.subscribe();
Why would this work fine on one server but fail on the other? Thanks so much for any help you can offer.
While it may not be releavnt to this question, I do have remoting working fine with BlazeDS on both systems. When my app starts, the user has to log in. All of that is done with BlazeDS and is working fine on both Win and Ubuntu. How to read JBoss server 'app.properties' file in the deployed Flex application?
Hi, my current Flex project is using LCDS server to make call (Remote object call and Data managements services' call) to the backend Java services and consume data to render. I have defined the AMF and RTMP channels in the services-config.xml file and destinations for the Java services' in the remoting-config.xml and data-management-config.xml files.
<channel-definition id="my-amf" class="mx.messaging.channels.AMFChannel">
<endpoint url="http://localhost:8080/eqcFlex/messagebroker/amf" class="flex.messaging.endpoints.AMFEndpoint"/>
<properties>
<polling-enabled>false</polling-enabled>
</properties>
</channel-definition>
As of now both the Flex application WAR file and Java services EAR files are depolyed on the JBoss server on my machine, therefore I can hardcode the endpoint URL as http://localhost:8080 in the services-config file and hit the Java services.
But the requirement is that the Flex application WAR file needs to be deployed on JBoss servers deployed on different machines and hence the endpoint URL cann't be hardcoded in the services-config.xml file. Is there a way we can pick up the endpoint URL from the JBoss server's app.properties file so that we can dynamically create channels in Actionscript code and make call to the backend services with dynamic endpoint URL?But in Command prompt I found out that My properties file by name
'cedrelay.properties' is not recognised by web.xml.My web.xml structure is
How does web.xml "recognize" anything?
You specify the properties file as an init parameter. Do you read it in the init method of the servlet? If so, what does the code look like for reading the properties file?
You'll have better luck if you put that properties file in WEB-INF/classes and load it as a resource input stream from the CLASSPATH.

I have put the castor-1.3.1.jar file in plugin folder .Then also same error.I can see the BindXmlDescripto.class file in the jar.
what could be the reason.You need to put any associated jar files in the WEB-INF/lib directory. That should fix your problem.
The Developers Guide section on "Create a Plugin" describes what goes in the WEB-INF/classes/plugins and what goes in WEB-INF/lib
Cheers
