Deploying Web Services in axis - Custom Deployment

Hi,
I'm trying to deploy a Web Service (Java) in Axis 1.2 using the Custom Deployment method. I have placed the Web Service class in the - <tomcat-home>/webapps/axis/WEB-INF/classes/<package-structure>/ folder structure and have placed the corresponding WSDD file at - <tomcat-home>/webapps/axis/WEB-INF . Now I'm trying to deploy the Web Service using the Axis org.apache.axis.client.AdminClient class from a command prompt. For this I have include the following JAR files in my CLASSPATH environment variable - activation.jar, mail.jar, xalan.jar, jaxrpc.jar, saaj.jar, wsdl4j.jar, xmlsec-1.2.1.jar, commons-discovery.jar and commons-logging.jar.
I'm using the following command to deploy the Web Service - java org.apache.axis.client.AdminClient HostWebService.wsdd .
However I'm getting the following exception while I try to execute the above metioned command - Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/xml/rpc/ServiceException. Could anyone please tell me why I'am getting this exception and how can I resolve this.
I have followed these steps for deployment from the apache site URL - http://ws.apache.org/axis/java/user-guide.html#UsingWSDLWithAxis

Not able to access web service with axis and tomcat

Dear all
i am trying to access web service using axis in tomcat.
i downloaded axis-bin-1_4.zip, unzipped it and installed it properly in tomcat.
i had tested axis, its working fine.
i had created a simple java class(a sample class from book) and deployed it in axis. i also created a client(a java consol class) for accessing that web service. but its giving error. i have no idea why this is comming.
plz point me in right direction.

Hello,
The OracleAS Database Web Service is only available for OracleAS using the Oracle Web Service runtime and tools as documented here.
If you are not using OracleAS or if you want to use another Web Service stack you can still manually program you Web Service manually using JDBC and is features.

You can use a java web service to publish a Web service from a Java class.
A wizard creates the WSDL document and deployment files needed to publish your code as a Web service. After you select the class and methods you want to publish, the wizard generates deployment descriptors, a JAX-RPC mapping file, and a WSDL document that can be deployed to an application server.
You can refer : \bpel\samples\tutorials\102.InvokingProcesses\ws sample to invoke a WS using JAX-RPC Call.

Just looking the problem in another angle.. if there is no constraint that you have to use XI specific API to call the web service, why dont you use usual Java API used for calling a web service inside you custom adapter (I have Microsoft background.. donno exactly how it is done in Java,, but in .NET kind of a language it is possible). SInce your adapter is in Java itself and is capable of calling web service.. collect or lookup the data whatever you want and validate...
Just a thought..

How to get the cookie from a web service using Axis

I used the AXIS wizard to consume a WSDL and create a bunch of boiler plate code. It works great in that I can talk to the web service and submit requests.
The problem is that I need to retrieve the cookie from the login request and use it when making subsequent requests. I have been unable to find the cookie and would appreciate a point in the right direction.
Currently I'm trying something like this
String cookie = (String)((Stub)service)._getCall().getMessageContext().getProperty(HTTPConstants.HEADER_COOKIE);

Answered on my own:
Just have to use
x_result = http_client->response->get_data( ).
instead of
x_result = http_client->response->to_xstring( ).
Just don't knwo why the filesize is wrong also - but I can work with this image!

Calling Web Service Proxy with Custom java Object as parameter

I created a web service proxy from WSDL URL using JDeveloper 11g(.5 version)
I need to call a webservice method which takes custom Java Object( Ex: ABC.java) as Input parameter. It creates the XSD java (ABC.java) file for that.

The passing of Java objects in and out of a web service is NOT supported. variables must be xml documents defined by a XML schema. In my opinion, missing Java object and WSDL is not a good idea. -Edwin

Obtaining CachedRowSet from web service in Axis

I could not find any method to pass a CachedRowSet query result from server side of the web service to the client. I want the transleted type also be a resultset.
Does anyone know the basic solution?
I am using Axis and Tomcat as server.

Write a method that puts that values into an array and send that. If you look at the Axis Users Guide (http://ws.apache.org/axis/java/user-guide.html) the advice is 'The most reliable way to send aggregate objects is to use arrays".

The following code returns Document. I will be calling the below function to convert my Resultset to document. In my JWS file i simply call a method with parameters. can a web service method in .jws file return Document type. It shows error will doing so. Please help me.

Developing Web Services with TeleAtlas + custom data.

A client has some TeleAltas data + own data and would like to develop some Web Services. Initially some WMS and WFS, then Geocoding + Inverse and maybe some routing. I see 2 options:
1. Try and get the data into the format required by the Oracle OpenLS GeoCoding + Routing Functions.
2. Design a custom data model and develop all the functions from scratch.
I'm inclined towards the second option.
Any feedback will be gratefully received.

In my experience, the Oracle Spatial Geocoder is very well done, and support for it is excellent.
I do not know how easy/difficult it will be to convert TA data into a format consumable by the Oracle geocoder.
I do know that NAVTEQ (the company I work for) ships data out-of-the-box for the Oracle Geocoder and Router (as well as mapping and analysis).

Do you have created a Service Key provider and attached the same to proxy service.
Oracle Service Bus verifies that you have associated a service key provider with the proxy service and that the service key provider contains a key-pair binding that can be used as a digital signature.

Calling DOO standard web service in ADF custom order Capture form

I am trying to call the standard DOO web service in my ADF form and I am using web service data control to call that service. But when I am dragging and drooping the method in my page with the parameters needed for that particular method and try to run the page. Its giving a null pointer exception. The main parameter for that method is _payload which wants an EBM to be passed to it.
DOO is a distributed Order Orchestration which is part of SCM fusion module. In fusion we can capture the order from different places from a legacy system from an EBS or any other application and then that captured order is passed to
DOO of fusion by calling a standard web service. But we don't have a order capture form built in ADF from where we can enter order and then pass this info to the DOO web service.
EBM is Enterprise business message,it is an xml format file which is passed to the DOO of fusion.It accept only EBM format xml in which capture order data is dere with EBM header and the data area which contains the order information.
The name of the method in web service which is called in j developer is SalesOrderOrchestrationService_pt_SubmitTransformAssignLaunch(__payload). payload is the parameter which accepts the EBM file.
The sample of an EBM or the xml which is passed to this method of web service as a payload is below.

Can I get a help on this and my question is in j developer when I make a web service data control and drag and drop that method in to my pages submit button with text box taking this EBM or xml as entry and when I submit this its giving a null pointer exception. How can I overcome this.

Hi,
for complex services like this the recommendation is to use a JAX-WS proxy client, put a POJO in front (wrapper) to access information and methods to expose in the application and create a POJO DC from the wrapper. This not only is more powerful and allows you to intercept data calls, it also gives you a netter option for debugging and error handling in case something fails.

Web services with axis & servlets ????

Iwould like to know if it is possible to reach a tomcat servlet when we are running a service with axis integrated in tomcat : can we use the servetcontext and share it between tomcat & axis ????

Hi,
As far as I know if Apache soap used to implemented as a servlet. If axis is implemented the same way ( I am not sure about this), then it should be able the share the context with other servlets within the container. Hope this helps.
