Deploying webservice client to database

I am new to web services but have used JDeveloper's wizard to create a stub/proxy to connect to a web service. And it works when I run it inside JDeveloper. But the idea was to run this as a stored procedure inside the database.
1. Is that even possible? The necessary libraries are not loaded in the database by default. I know Oracle have removed the J2EE stack from the database.
2. I have tried to figure out which classes/libraries/jars are needed and load them into the database manually. But the more classes I include the more it asks for. It seems to never end. Will I have to load the whole J2EE library back in!
3. Why can't JDeveloper figure out by itself which classes are needed and (offer to) add them to the deployment profile? The libraries are added to the project and I've even checked the export option.
4. I've tried both version 9.0.5.2 (10.1.2?) and the 10.1.3 preview. What's more confusing. Those two versions generate different web service code. 10.1.2 uses org.apache.soap.* plus some Oracle specific classes and generates only one source file. 10.1.3 uses javax.xml.rpc.* plus some Oracle specific classes and generates many more files. My main point being that different API's are used. Which one should I choose?
This will be deployed to possibly different version of the Oracle database although they will all be at least 9i, probably 9.2. Right now I'm testing in on
Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.5.0 - Production
With the Partitioning, OLAP and Oracle Data Mining options
JServer Release 9.2.0.5.0 - Production

I have tried but get the same types of errors I got when trying to add the libraries one by one. There are still missing classes. For example it refers to the java.util.logging package that is not part of 1.3!
I've tried with utl_dbws_jserver.jar and utl_dbws.jar and both althought the former seems to contain a subset of the latter. I've tried different databases.
Here are some of the errors. I'm not sure if the error messages are exact since I had to translate them from Norwegian:

  • Problem deploying webservice client app

I have a JAX-RPC webservice client application which works flawlessly from within JDeveloper 10.1.3 EA1. However, after deploying the application and running it, I get the following error which I have been unable to trace to a missing library:
    Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/xml /rpc/ServiceFactory
    at com.brunata.ptd.proxy.TempmonSoapHttpPortClient.<init>(TempmonSoapHtt pPortClient.java:17)

    at com.brunata.ptd.PTDApp.createGUI(PTDApp.java:93)
I made sure to include all libraries I can see JDeveloper is referencing, yet obviously I must be missing something. I include the following:
    \j2ee\home\lib
    \webservices\lib
    \jlib
    \lib\xmlparserv2.jar
    \xdk\lib\xml.jar
    \j2ee\home

    \jakarta-taglibs\commons-logging-1.0.3\commons-logging.jar
    \jakarta-taglibs\commons-logging-1.0.3\commons-logging-api.jar
I must admit, I am a bit shocked that/if I will have to deploy all these files into a some 40MB jar, not exactly fitting for the Java Web Start appliation I am working on.
    Any help greaty appreciated,
    Casper Bang

    Hi Eric,
Thanks for the single-jar solution tip. Unfortunately I still get the same error (javax.xml.rpc.ServiceFactory) even with the use of that file. If I try to run manually from a commandline and include jaxrpc-api.jar, I get a little further though:

    Please help in this regards..

Run the following in your terminal where you have a sh shell.
export ORACLE_HOME= <give here the location of Oracle Infrastructure Home>
    cd $ORACLE_HOME
    sqlplus / as sysdba
    ## if you continue to get problems, then see the following file;
    cat $ORACLE_HOME/network/ADMIN/sqlnet.ora
Check if you have a line with the following attribute:
    SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES
make sure it is not missing, nor reporting a none value. If it does, change it to the following:
    SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES = (NTS)
Save the file. Now restart infrastructure:
    cd $ORACLE_HOME
    opmn/bin/opmnctl stopall
    opmn/bin/opmnctl startall
    ## now try getting into the database again.
    sqlplus / as sysdba
    hope that helps!

    How can I fix it?

I didn't see a mistake, but my sample works fine. Are you trying to execute the client from Workshop / Eclipse? If that is the case, then I believe it's a matter of just using the appropriate client libraries, which I believe is your issue even though the error is misleading. You should definitely try using a Java Project for a stand-alone web service invocation. According to this link: http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs103/webserv_rpc/client.html#wp229351 you simply need 1 jar file named wseeclient.jar on your path, which is archived inside <WL_INSTALL>\wlserver_10.3\server\lib\wseeclient.zip
Once I set up a new Java Project with wseeclient.jar on my path and my clientgen generated classes, I could invoke the sample.
Also, here is what the successful invocation from the command line using (ant build, ant deploy, ant run):
    C:\Oracle\wls10.3\wlserver_10.3\samples\server\examples\src\examples\webservices\jws_basic\simple>ant build

  • Problem invoking from a BPEL process webservice client

I have a BPEL Synchronous process that invokes a webservice deployed on Tomcat. The process executes without any exception when I run it from the BPEL Console. Since I want to execute the BPEL process as a command line operation, I created a BPEL Process Webservice client from scratch using Axis as described in Tutorial7 - InvokingBPELProcesses.pdf. However when I try to execute the client, I get the following error:

  • Webservices client

    Hi,
I have deployed webservice which is running on Weblogic server. For that I have to write a webservices client in VC++, for my java webservice the arguments are String and Complex type and return type is Complex type.
Can any body tell me how to write webservice client in C++ or VC++ using VC++ compiler.
Earliest response with sample code Appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,

A web service client written on WLS [1], should work with
service hosted by any vendor, including .Net, AXIS, Sun RI,
    etc.
The client code you write in WLS which is based on JAX-RPC [1]
should compile as is on other vendor JAX-RPC implementation.
So, if you are looking for client code portability then JAX-RPC
    is your best bet.

I have tried webservices with apache and weblogic7.0 but i realised thatboth was
to be done very specific to servers.I may be wrong. I am trying tounderstand
how can i write a sercive for one server and access using another server.
When i write webservice in java tomcat server, I create a service andregister
as urn name. For a client to access this service, code kind of looks ejbcode
where we lookup the service and call its method. Instead of looking upJNDI name
we lookup urn and access method. Mind you this client uses ORG packagesspecific
    to tomcat.
Now when we write a websercice with weblogic we have to create a ear whichhas
webserverice and write a client to access that service, which lookscompletely
diffrent from one that we wrote for tomcat. I am wondering how can i usethe same
client to access both the services. It rarely happens that both side wouldbe
    using same servers.
I am sure that there is some mistake i m doing cos webservices is supposeto be
    even language independent.
Can you guys help me in resolving this, more questions later ;-)

  • Deployable webservice client - ClassCastException

    Hi,
We are trying to implement a WebService Client for the secure Webservice. I have created a deployable proxy client and deployed it on the server, our basis has attached the X509 certificate to the proxy in VA. Test Destination is successful. I have exposed the client as public part in the ws client dc project.I have created a used dc relationship to the webservice client project in my EP Component project. I'm trying to use this client in a AbstractPortal component with following code
    SECQANDA seq = (SECQANDA) ctx.lookup("<JNDI location");
I get a ClassCastException on this line
    java.lang.ClassCastException: <package>.SECQANDAImpl incompatible with <package>.SECQANDA
Have anyone faced this problem? How do I resolve this error?
    Appreciate any help.
    Thanks,
    Giri.

    Hi Anand,
Thanks for your response. I have already checked that object for null - it is not. The problem is I dont have this SECQANDAImpl class that implements the SECQANDA interface in my DC. This implementation class gets generated when I deploy the deployable proxy object. Though I should be able to cast to the interface, it is throwing this error. Any other ideas?
    Giri.

    Hi Martin,
Appreciate your response. I'm not able to cast to SECQANDAImpl because this implementaion class is not in my DC. What I understand is it gets implemented on deployment of the deployable proxy. Does that ring any bell?
    Thanks,

  • Adding a WebService Client to a Web Application

    Hi, Everybody,
I built a Bepl Module in which I had a ECHO WebService and the response parameter is a complex type.
Then I built a Web application, and used the WSDL file to add a WebService Client to a this Web Application,
but I found that the WebService Referrence dose not contain any method, so I could not add it in my jsp page.
But when I changed the Response Message Part Type into a simple one, everything worked fine.
*All the progress is the same as " [Using a Manually Created WSDL as a Web Service Client|https://open-esb.dev.java.net/kb/v2/javaeesetut.html] ", but change the simple type into complex type.*
I want to know if the WebService Client Referrence dose not support generating java code which contains complex type or I had a wrong operation?
    thanks

There are current limitations with the wsimport functionality and an issue has been logged.
If you have a look at the blog entry from Andrew Hopkinson.....
...you'll see part way down what the WSDL must look like to work with wsimport, i.e.....
Message parts must be created using an Element rather than a specific type and the element must be defined in a local in-line schema.
This in-line element can only contain a sequence with a single sub-element of a specific Complex Type.
The name of the input element must be the same as the operation it will be used in.
nillable element option should not be used because this will cause your strings to be returned as JAXBElements and not Strings.
    ...etc....
Bit painful I know, but this is the only workaround until the bug is fixed.

    Sancho,
Thanks for the prompt reply. We trying to automate the following process:-
    1. The user select multiple documents from a folder in a library that contains all released documents.
    2. He then locks the documents.
    3. Selects the locked documents and copies it to a folder in the personal library.
We are trying to lock and copy the documents as a 1 step process, because its difficult for the users to select all of the documents locked earlier and then copy it the personal library.
We are trying to take the folder name as the user parameter, when the files are locked, so that the process and create the lock the files, create the folder and copy the files in this folder.
Thanks again for your time and help.

  • Change webservice client transport/binding

I am migrating web service client generated by clientgen from 7.0 to 8.1. 7.0 client uses weblogic.webservice.binding.soap.HttpClientBinding which works directly with sockets and is fine for me. But 8.1 uses weblogic.webservice.binding.http11.Http11ClientBinding which works with java.net.HttpUrlConnection that requires proxy being set in java system property which is system wide and I cannot use that. HttpClientBinding uses system wide setting as well but it is webservice client specific at least.
So I want use HttpClientBinding in 8.1 as well. I am able to change it by calling
    BindingFactory.getInstance().register("http11", weblogic.webservice.binding.soap.HttpClientBinding.class);
but this is again system wide setting which I am afraid of because of influencing other WS clients not using proxy. Is it possible to do it somehow in per client basis?
Injecting custom Binding info with getTransport returning "http" or in some other way.
Alternatively any way allowing me to set proxy on per WS client is solution for me

    Hi Dahran,
    SCC7 is for post import.
first you have to import the transports generated during the export into your client.
