Deploying with Developer Studio

Dear forumpeople,
I'm trying to deploy a ear. file with de SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio.
The connection with the SDM Server works fine, but with the ear. file the following error occurs:
Caught exception during application deployment from SAP J2EE Engine's deploy service:
java.rmi.RemoteException: Only Administrators have the right to perform this operation.
I already read about assigning the Administrators role to the 'admin' user, so I tried the 'User Management' option, found at the J2EE Engine Start page.
Strange enough, the role 'Administrator' is assigned to 'admin'.
Please help me on my way.
Greetings,
Adri

  • Could not deploy application with Developer Studio 7.0.0

    Hi,
I ran into a problem while deploying any of my applications (Web Dynpro, J2EE, Dictionary) to any of my remote servers with NetWeaver Developer Studio version 7.0.0.
    <b>Problem:</b>
<i>Deployment exception: Server [Host] did not accept login request as admin on port [Port]. Details: ERROR: Could not establish connection to server [Host] at port [Port]: Connection timed out: connect...</i>
Prior to installing version 7.0.0, I used the version 2.0.9. Everything worked fine then. The Message Server Host and Port on the ver 7.0.0 were configured exactly the same as ver 2.0.9. System settings (Proxy, Firewall) have never been changed.
Anyone has worked on version 7.0.0 and experienced the similar problem?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Deployment in about 30 seconds, that's not uncommon.
It depends on your project size and network band width.
Did the same project deploy faster in the past?
Furthermore I don't wee warnings, just info statements.

  • Deployment with Netweaver Studio with firewall.

    Hello to all.
I´m initiating in Netweaver world, and in the next 30 days, I´m going to do certify mysel as a J2EE netweaver developer. Right now, I´m having some issues do deploy my Java code from a computer through a firewall from outside my lan. I have opened all 50000-50020, I´m also opened ports 3201 and 3900 (message server). I tested everything with remote gui, and everything works fine.
Problem is, when I try to deploy something from my Netweaver Studio, I receive a message, telling me it´s not possible to connect to server . As long as I´m a newbie in SAP, I need some directions to perform such configuration.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Kirupanand, hi Arunava,
first, this has absolutely nothing to do with the inclusion of the sources. Including the sources is only for providing the possibility for example for a customer to change the implementation (without decompiling etc). It has no technical meaning except the given.
Second, one can only mark an iView as iView template if one could create the iView! So also your second hint, Kirupanand, doesn not make any sense. A deployed portal app consists of components (and/or services), from which "instances" can be created (these are: iViews); such an instance can be marked as template. No iView, no template.
Third, the non-appearance may have the reason that the application has been restricted in it's permissions, see http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/f6/2604e505fd11d7b84200047582c9f7/frameset.htm - "Administrator Permissions" "For portal components" - for details (you must have at least the read permission for the application in question; that means under System Administration - Permissions - Portal Permissions - Applications - <YourApp>).
    Hope it helps

  • Using external libraries with Developer Studio 7.1 Composition Environment

    Hi,
I downloaded DS 7.1 CE and tried to develop a simple application which uses an external library.
I created a development component for "external library" for the local development -> MyComponent, giving it the name "test2" (for the domain basis).
I imported the external library file using Import -> File System , then selecting the .jar file.
In the component properties browser I added a public part naming it "mylib2" setting the purpose to "ASSEMBLY" (my intention was that the libarry will be transferred during the deployment to the application server).
I right clicked on the public part to "managed entities". I selected the archive tree and checked the library file shown there (the one I imported before). #
Then I opended component properties of my web dynpro project and clicked on "Dependencies". The I chose "Add..." and selected the "test2" development component I created before (see above).
Then I tried to deploy the project (which uses this external library) using "Deploy Archive and Run"
After deployment the browser window opens and shows the ClassNotFoundException
So what did I oversee or do wrong?
BTW: Is it necessary for using external libraries to use a full fletched NWDI? Or can I use external libs also with netweaver development environments freely available for download on sdn.sap.com?
    Any hints?
    Thanks a lot
    Hannes

    Hannes,
If you want to use external libraries with DCs then you should follow the NWDI completely.
Check this step, otheways of using external libraries is mentioned <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/e3/de813e77d46245e10000000a114084/frameset.htm">here.</a>

  • Developer Studio deployment problem

    Hi All,
I'm unable to deploy from Developer studio. Error is 'Server XXX did not accept login request as admin on port 50018'.
Looked into the documentation and put an entry in the host file too. but i still have the problem.
    Studio (2.0.4)
    Server: SP14
Tried with Studio(2.0.8 & 2.0.11) too. Please help.
    I'd greatly appreciate an answer.
    Thanks in advance,

    Rajit

    Hi,
I can tell you some strange thing that happens everytime I am deploying with Developer Studio:
1.) I deploy locally. My password is xxx. Everything is fine.
2.) I deploy on the productive system. My password is yyy. Everything is fine.
3.) I change the settings to the integration system. Refresh the view. I can see the correct integration engine. I deploy. My password is yyy. The files are deployed on the productive system, not the integration system. Bad Luck.
If I change the password for the productive system to zzz, I get the same error message as you got when I try to deploy with zzz to the productive system. That is because Developer Studio connects to the wrong system.
This error happens every single time. Therefore I stopped deploying via Developer Studio for other engines but my own localhost. Deplyoing with SDM gui works just fine.
May be, you have a similar situation ?

  • Which Developer Studio version?

Our company is starting to evaluate using the NetWeaver technologies (Developer Studio, Web AS, etc.) for development and we're currently at a loss as to what version we should be using and where to get the current version.
We're planning on using Web AS 6.40, if possible. We currently have a NetWeaver Developer Studio DVD that shipped with Developer Studio 2.0.4, which seems to be fairly old. We have a few questions:
    1. What version of Developer Studio is current, and where can we download it? I've seen some installers on the Service Marketplace, but no full package.
    2. What is the recommended DB? We have tried using MaxDB off of the DVD, but there are packages that reference MS SQL Server as well.
    3. What is the procedure for patching the local development environment? I'm unsure what Web AS and NWDS patches I need to get to the correct version. At one point we found a SP7 patch for NWDS, but this left us unable to run what we developed as the "Deploy and Run" command errored out.
It's wishful thinking, but it'd be nice if there was a clear upgrade path for local development. We'd like the ability to install a base system with a clear upgrade path.

Version 2.09 is now the most reason. The updates can be found at service.sap.com
The donwloads are rather huge, certainly after you've 'unsarred' the files.

  • NetWeaver Development Studio and Portal Plugin

    Hi
I just installed netWeaver Developer studio 2.0.3. It does not have a portal plugin . I was under the impression that it comes with PDK and Plugin , so that I can develop Java Iviews.
Do I have to install Portal plugin in netWeaver studio to develop Java iviews.
Is there any other version of Developer studio which comes with portal plugin.
What about PDK ?? Does it come with Developer studio 2.0.3.
I had problems before with Eclipse 3.0 and Portal plugin for EP6 SP2. Do I have the same problem with any version of developer studio or If i just install plugin for EP6 i will able to develop java iview.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Regards
    Bhanu

    Hello,
You should update to a later version of the Studio (be careful to check if that version is in sync with your server) In the latest versions the PDK definitely is included.

  • Deploy a Library with the NetWeaver Developer Studio 7.1

    Hi All,
i would like to deploy a jar-file as a library on PI 7.1 with the NWDS 7.1.
    It is different to 7.0.
I hope anyone can tell me how to do this..
    Thanks
    Christoph

    Hi,
Here is the process to deploy a Library project:
    1.Defining Libraries:
To define J2EE libraries in the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio, you first create a corresponding Library project .Then you have to add all necessary JAR files or references to other J2EE Engine components.
    2.Creating a Library Project:
Choose File ® New ® Project.Follow the wizard to create a library project. The wizard generates an empty Library project. After the generation is completed, the J2EE perspective is opened automatically. The logical project structure is displayed in the J2EE Explorer and contains the two XML files: sda-dd.xml and provider.xml.
    3.Adding JARs:
           1.      Choose the server/provider.xml node and choose Open from the context menu. The multipage editor opens in the right pane.
           2.      Choose the Jars tab.
           3.      Choose the Jars node followed by Add.
           4.      Select one or more JARs from your workspace and confirm by choosing OK.
    4.Adding References:

I am trying to deploy a simple EAR (ConverterEAR) to my application server.

Is there a file where I can change this setting. My Laptop is set to use DHCP so my IP changes when I reboot my laptop. I also have configured a Microsoft loop back adapter.

    Hi,
you could change the connection settings to the server in the preference page in the Developer Studio. Check <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce10/helpdata/en/45/0cf28fb4d01f23e10000000a1553f7/frameset.htm">this</a> page in the documentation for details.
In your case, you can also use the host name of your laptop, or even just localhost, in the Message Server Host field in the preferences page. This should overcome the problem with dynamic IPs.
    Hope that helps!

  • Help With Netweaver Developer Studio Version

Hi everyone I have a problem, I am doing some examples to programmer Web dynpro using netweaver developer studio, How can I know what is my Netweaver Developer Studio version? Because I have a trial version and I dont know if my version is compatible to doing some examples, for example I found this link
Web Dynpro Java Tutorials and Samples NW 2004
and I wanna doing the example "Using EJBs in Web Dynpro" and when I open this document it starts with SAP netweaver 04 and I don't know if my trial version is compatible with this example.
    Thanks

    Israel,
Open your NWDS, go to Help/About.
Most likely you will see something like:
    Version: 7.0.11
If version is 7.0.X, your NWDS is NetWeaver 7.0, formerly known as NetWeaver 2004s.
Most likely there will be no problem running examples from NW 2004, earlier version.
Just make sure your JDK you have on your dev computer has similar version as JDK on the target server, if you are building locally and deploying your application to another server.
Post if you have a different version.
We will guess what NW version it belongs to.

    Slava

  • SAP Developer Studio with no Portal Application option

Hello everyone, can someone help me in this problem:
I have installed these days the SAP Enterprise Portal 6.0 SP 7 on Web AS 6.40 and additionally after that I installed for development the SAP Netweaver Developer Studio the version 2.0.3.
I deployed with SDM those 2 files of PDK 6.0 SP6 in .sda format and add the Java developer role to my admin. I've downloaded from the portal the plugin Connector for Eclipse and copy it in the IDE plugins directory. I made a download in a local directory of the jar files too.
Starting the Developer Studio with the reason of developing, I can't see in my File-> New ->Project any option like Portal Applications. Not in Windows -> Preferences either.
Have I done something wrong? If someone had the same problem maybe and want to give a little help.
I'm thinking now that maybe the version of Developer Studio is too old. If so, does anyone can tell me from where I can download a newer one, because I have seen some links that dont work.
    Thanks,
    Best Regards.

    Hi,
your version of DevStudio seems indeed to be outdated. If I remember correctly, then EP6 SP7 runs on WebAS 640 SP8? Therefore you should use DevStudio 2.0.8 (where .8 denotes the support package of your WebAS installation)
You can download a newer version of DevStudio from service marketplace. A trial version of DevStudio 2.0.7 is available here on SDN in the "Downloads/WebAS" section.
