Deployment of simple JSP to Oracle Servlet Engine

Hi
Anyone there tried to deploy a simple JSP running against OSE.
Please advice where can I get more information for this.
Thanks

Yes I have tried it with simple examples like data access and calling EJB. In-session EJB calls do not work but if your JSP is deployed in another Oracle JVM like 9iAS then EJB calls work.
There are two manuals you can refer:
JSP Developers guide at http://technet.oracle.com/docs/products/oracle8i/doc_library/817_doc/java.817/a83720/toc.htm
AND
Java Tools reference guide at http://technet.oracle.com/docs/products/oracle8i/doc_library/817_doc/java.817/a83727/toc.htm

  • Deployment of simple jsp application in Oracle 10g AS

    Hi All,
    This is a critical issue. We have a JSP application which uses the plain old java objects to esltabilsh database connection and same old java objects to perform the business logic.
    All java file are packed in a jar file and all jsp's and other files(GIF,CSS etc) are copied to a folder.
    So what should be the steps to deploy this application to the Oracle 10g Application server.

    Thanks for the update.
    But application is already developed and is Runing in the 9i As and now we have to deploy it to the 10g server.
    Some steps that i am following to deploy the application are:-
    Steps for the deploying the A+ Web portal in OUGD
    1)Copy the “aplus” folder(containing related jsps,css and gif files) and aplus.jar file to
    “<<ORA-HOME>>/iAS/Apache/Jserv”
    2)     Go to the following file
    "<<ORA-HOME>>/iAS/Apache/Jserv/etc/jserv.properties” and add the following lines,
    #APlus
    wrapper.classpath=<<ORA-HOME>>/iAS/Apache/Jserv/aplus
    wrapper.classpath=<<ORA-HOME>>/iAS/Apache/Jserv/aplus.jar
    #APLUS CONFIGURATION
    wrapper.bin.parameters=-DWV_GATEWAY_CFG=<<ORAHOME>>/iAS/Apache/modplsql/cfg/wdbsvr.app
    3)     Go to the following file
    “<<ORA-HOME>>/iAS/Apache/Jserv/etc/zone.properties” and add the
    following lines
    Append the following line to “repositories=”
    <<ORA-HOME>>/iAS/Apache/Jserv/aplus,
    <<ORA-HOME>>/iAS/Apache/Jserv/aplus.jar
    4)     Go the following file
    “<<ORA-HOME>>/iAS/Apache/Apache/conf/apps.conf” and add the following lines
    Alias /aplus/ "<<ORA-HOME>>/iAS/Apache/Jserv/"
    <Directory "<<ORA-HOME>>/iAS/Apache/Jserv">
    Options Indexes MultiViews
    AllowOverride None
    Order allow,deny
    Allow from all

  • Help regarding a simple JSP file and servlet file

    Hi all,
    I am trying to develop a web based application using Tomca 5.0.16.I wanted to get to know how a simple jsp page could access a servlet.It would be really very beneficial if if any one can give me a sample code that does the interactions,I could run it and understand it,would help me for further development.
    Any help would be appreciated
    Thanks
    AS

    I think it depends on how you want to access the servlet.
    You can forward or redirect from the JSP page to the servlet, thus making it like you went to the servlet directly from the browser (except of course, before the forward or redirect, some stuff can be done).
    You can use URLConnection objects to call the servlet, much like the browser does.
    It depends on what you are trying to do.

  • How to run the simple jsp on oracle 9ias application server?

    hi,
    how to run the simple jsp application jst disply the date on oracle 9ias application server?
    can any expline the steps how to do it?
    thanks

    No, you need the Reports Server (as part of the Application Server or Weblogic, depending on your version).
    I try to save the report, it's saved as .jspThat depends. You can save it as a .rdf file too (so called Paper Layout). I think this option is used more often.

    How you create your .xml file.
    Have you created your .xml file using New->web tier->OA Components->Page.
    If in this way you would not get your specified Error. Could not find the main class.Progarm will exit.
    I think you are running any java file. either controller, VOImpl.java or any else.
    that do not have main function.
    if still this issue exist on your side. let us know all the steps in details to us.

  • Oracle Servlet Engine/Apache

    Hi,
    I am trying to jsp published in oracle throught Apache.
    In my tnsnames.ora configuration is like
    inst1_http = (DESCRIPTION=
    (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)
    (HOST=alex)(PORT=7988))
    (CONNECT_DATA= (SERVICE_NAME=myserver)
    (SERVER=shared)
    (PRESENTATION=http://testservice) ) )
    I have specified service_name as webserver name given in httpd.conf (ServerName=myserver) of Apache.
    Presentation is given as webservice created under the service folder in sess_sh environment.
    When I try to connect through the browser by giving port 7777 which is listener at Apache the httpd_error_log gives
    Connection to [(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=alex)(PORT=7988))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVER=SHARED)(SERVICE_NAME=myserver)(PRESENTATION=http://testservice)))] failed
    Also when I type http://alex:7777 it gives
    Service Temporarily Unavailable.
    The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.
    Is anything wrong in the Service_Name ? What it should be ? I have included
    AuroraService inst1_http in mod__ose.conf file.
    Regards,
    Chetan

    you can skip ose (a truely dredful product), and use orion
    directly from Ironflare...$1500 per server, and cheaper than OC4J.

  • Remove Oracle Servlet Engine

    Hello,
    I need to remove the OSE in order to avoid the execution of JServ.
    I have been looking for information about this and tried:
    remove the line about dispatchers in init.ora
    execute some things in package dbms_xdb.cfg_update to change ports
    execute the script rmjvm.sql
    but unsuccessfully.
    I have heard about a specific script that removes every JVM support in the Oracle installation, which includes removal of OSE, but could not find it.
    Does anybody knows how to remove or shutdown OSE?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,

    Done!
    My copy of rmjvm.sql was incorrect, I took it from another installation and worked fine.

    ok i see the following files in
    C:\oracle\ora90\Apache\Jserv\conf
    jserv.conf
    jserv.conf.default
    jserv.conf.tmp
    jserv.properties
    jserv.properties.default
    jserv.properties.tmp

  • How deploy ejb enable jsp

    hi guys:
    I use oracle9ias to construct demo ejb application, in javavm/demo/ejb/basic/helloworld. I have deploy ejb well and Client.java run very well.
    but when i want to use jsp to invoke ejb. this sentence throw exception: HelloHome hello_home = (HelloHome)ic.lookup ("sess_iiop://eddy:2481:orcl/test/myHello");
    the exception is could not find out.like this:myHellojavax.naming.NamingException: Unknown reasons [Root exception is java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: hello.HelloHomeHelper]
    null

    OSE is the Oracle Servlet Engine that runs inside the Oracle database. You can deploy ejbs to it.
    There is a lot of documentation on that.
    Oracle Servlet Engine user's Guide is a good start. Also relevent documentation is found under $ORACLE_HOME/javavm directory.
    good luck

  • Simple jsp deployment - does it need weblogic.xml ?

              Hi,
              I am a newbie and trying out a very simple jsp application which connects to Oracle
              for a simple db lookup. This app used to work with Tomcat/ Apache.
              I am trying to deploy it on WLS7.0 . It does not use servlets - only JSPs.
              Could someone tell me what is the minimum level of configuration I need to deploy
              these JSPs to WLS7.0 ?
              Do I need both web.xml and weblogic.xml ?
              Do I need all the parameters in both these files ?
              Thanks a lot !

    WLS7.0 Does use servlet you have to register the servlet inside the
              web.xml file for a web application. It looks like this:
              <servlet>
                   <servlet-name>testservlet</servlet-name>
                   <servlet-class>
                        com.mypackage.MyTestServlet
                   </servlet-class>
              <init-param>
              <param-name>EnvironmentFile</param-name>
              <param-value>/WEB-INF/config/webstore.properties</param-value>
              </init-param>
              </servlet>
              <servlet-mapping>
              <servlet-name>testservlet</servlet-name>
              <url-pattern>/mytestservlet</url-pattern> <!-- this is the
              name on the url-->
              </servlet-mapping>

  • Can't us Oracle API on the simple JSP pages added to the portlet........

    Hi,
    I added a jsp page in the portlet which is not a standard page like the default show mode pages. I have added some code which actually access a resource inside the porltet.
    " img src="<%= UrlUtils.constructResourceURL (pReq, HttpPortletRendererUtil .absoluteLink(request, "icon.png")) %> "
    For that you have to add the following two imports in the code
    mport="oracle.portal.provider.v2.render.http.HttpPortletRendererUtil"
    import="oracle.portal.provider.v2.url.UrlUtils"
    This library is available with the JDeveloper and I dont get any error while compiling and even deploying the portlet war file on the applcation server. Strangely the same piece of code shows the image perfectly for the default show page of the portlet but it generates 500 Internal server error for the other simple jsp page I added, which suggests that the server is unable to find the function:

    Thanks Nrintala. I tried to work with multipage portlet example provided in the jpdk. In fact I created another portlet with two pages and copied the code of the two pages of the multipage portlet. (Off course I took care of the names and stuff). Later I modified the provider.xml by defining "next_page" parameter. When I viewed my portlet, first page appeared fine but when I click on the link which should show the second page, I got an error which says.
    Error:      Error occurred while rendering portlet - see provider log file for details.
    Do you think I have missed something? I am depoying my war file on the stand alone OC4J and some how I have not been able to find the application.log file in my application inside the application_deployments of the J2EE_HOME. I have pasted the provider.xml file and I would be grateful if you can help.

  • Unable to deploy a simple servlet using WAR file on Oracle9iAS v9.0.3

    Hi All,
    I am facing problem while deploying a simple servlet using WAR file on Oracle 9i App Server.
    I have installed Oracle9iAS J2EE and Web Cache v9.0.3 on Windows 2000 server.
    It includes:
         - Oracle HTTP Server
         - Oracle9iAS Containers for J2EE
         - Oracle9iAS Web Cache
         - Oracle Enterprise Manager
    The release of installed Oracle9iAS is Release 2 (9.0.3)
    I referred following link to Deploy Applications Using WAR file:
         http://otn.oracle.com/products/ias/daily/sept12.html
    As mentioned in this documentation I have followed following steps to deploy WAR file:
    1] I have created a war file by name SimpleServlet.war. In SimpleServlet.war, there is a servlet by name Simple which prints time at which servlet was accessed.
    2] I have modified <ora9ias_home>\j2ee\home\config\application.xml and added following web module entry:
         <web-module id="SimpleServlet" path="../../home/applications/SimpleServlet.war" />
    3] To make this module accessible from over the web, I have modified file
         <ora9ias_home>\j2ee\home\config\default-web-site.xml and added following entry:
         <web-app application="SimpleServlet" name="SimpleServlet" root="/SimpleServlet"/>
    4] I saved both the files and started Oracle HTTP Server and accessed page as below:
              http://<server>:7777/SimpleServlet/Simple
    where Simple is servlet in SimpleServlet.war file.
    In the browser, The page cannot be found is shown to user. I have verified that SimpleServlet.war is extracted to SimpleServlet folder under <ora9ias_home>\j2ee\home\applications folder. I found that Simple.class is stored under WEB-INF/classes folder and web.xml contains correct entry for url pattern for servlet Simple.
    What else could be the problem? Am I placing the war file in wrong place or modifying application.xml or default-web-site.xml in a wrong directory?
    This is very urgent. Please help me with your valuable comments on this.
    Thanks in advance.
