From our experience, we decided to have our server re-imaged and re-installed all the necessary Oracle Suites. We believe something in the registry was preventing us from installing the application adapter. Once we cleaned out our box, everything went well and we were able to install the Application Adapter with no error. This may not be ideal if you are in a production environment, but for development this maybe quick and clean.

My question is does a desktop application need an application server as well if it's using adf? In other words, I'd like to create an application in jdeveloper that I can deploy as a simple executable jar file and send to a user for them to use on their desktop, is this possible? Is web logic required to run on that other users desktop? The answer to your question is No. You don't need an application server to run a Java client ADF application. You should be able to execute the application packaged on the jar file as is. I haven't developed myself anything like it, but as long as your necessary ADF libraries are accessible you shouldn't have any problems running it.
    hari wrote:
I've tried doing this using a "Java Desktop Application (adf)" which creates two projects one for the model and one for the view controller. I created a simple prototype form that connects to my database and everything looks great when I hit the green play button. However when I try and deploy it as an executable jar with the entry point being the one and only form I can't run it. A jar file is created and it says its an executable jar file but when I double click it, the OS simply beeps (I'm using Windows XP).
You won't be able to run the jar file that way - unless you package a manifest file with it and set its Main-Class attribute to point to your class containing the main() method. Try instead executing java -jar yourJarFile.jar from the command line.

  • The best way to deploy and redploy of a multiple SOA application

    Hi all,
I'm looking for the best way to deploy and redeploy a multiple SOA application.
    1) The multiple SOA application contains many projects. Some projects depend on another projects.
    2) WebLogic is in productive mode.
I wound like automaticly deploy and redeploy my multiple SOA application.
Does anyone have any experience of this?
    Many thanks
    PG

We use ant scripts to automatically deploy and redeploy multiple composites.
The ant scripts gets shipped along with the SOA installation. The ant script that is used for the deployment is:
    ${oracle.home}/bin/ant-sca-deploy.xml
You can also use the same for your deployment.

  • Deploying JEE application and SOA Applications on the same SOA Dom

Are there known issues in deploying SOA Applications and Weblogic/JEE application on the same SOA Domain.
Couple of the issues that I can think of is if that
If SOA Domain is unstable it will also impact JEE applications.
SOA Domain depends on the SOA DB and there is no such db dependency for a weblogic server.
In the past we have been creating seperate domains for Weblogic and Weblogic Integration domains.
    Anythoughts ?
Any information on this topic would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Pavan

Yes, it is possible to do this using virtual servers.
In your example, you will have two different virtual servers and two http listeners (localhost/8181 and localhost/8282).
When you deploy a war file, you can specify which virtual server to use. (--virtualservers option on asadmin deploy command, admin console has a virtual server text box on deployment screen).
After deployment, the applications will only be available on the http listeners that map to the virtual servers they were deployed to.
Can you also post the problem that you are running into with 8.1 update 2?
    Hope this helps,

If this still needed. Take a look in Your WSDL file - any references to schemas etc. Are they accessible on server? For example - XSD file have absolute file system link - change it to project level import (copy xsd file to project) or publish to MDS.

    Regards,
    Anilkumar P

    Hi,
I was getting exactly same error. I have resolved it by putting the
    <target name="enterPassword" >
            <input message="Please enter Weblogic password:" addproperty="passwd">
                <handler classname="org.apache.tools.ant.input.SecureInputHandler" />
            </input>
    in my build.xml
It means that it was not able to read password properly in bin/ant-sca-mgmt.xml
Password was the issue in my case. it is working now.
    Thanks,
    Arun Jadhav

  • How to test and deploy a BPEL application in JDeveloper?

    Hi guys!
I'm trying to use the cue card overview (step 4) to test and deploy a BPEL application.
I'm using the new version o JDeveloper Preview (10.1.3.1.0) and when a click in "Launch the Create Integration Server Connection wizard" it asks me about Application Server, host name and port number. What I should fill in? Should I start BPEL process manager outside JDeveloper to start testing?
In the wizard of "Create Application Server Connection" (step 2 of 4: Authentication) it asks me about username (which is filled with oc4jadmin) and Password. What password I shout use here?
Finally, in the step 3 of 4 (Connection) the wizard asks me about host name and RMI port, what I should fill in?
    Any help will be appreciate

You need an istance of a BPEL server to test this.
So download the SOA Suite Developer Preview and install on your machine - this will provide you with a server you can test BPEL on.

  • Unable to deploy the SOA composite through the EM

    Hi,
I have created SOA Composite project (version 11.1.1.1.0). This is a simple project which takes message from one JMS queue and puts in another JMS queue.
Now I wanted to deploy this in another instance of the SOA Suite( version 11.1.1.3.0). When I use Jdeveloper, I can create Application connection to new SOA Suite and deploy the project directly to the new SOA_Suite. and it is working. I have deployed the Project to a Jar file and tried to deploy the Project onto the new Soa suite using the Enterprise Manager console. But It failed giving the following reason ...
    Invalid archive: [J2EE:160112] Error
The directory, 'D:\oracle\11gR1SOAPS2\user_projects\domains\base_domain\sysman\upload\stage\sca_CacheOrderHeader_rev1upload39341\archive\sca_CacheOrderHeader_rev1.02.jar', does not contain a valid module. If the directory represents an ear file, it must contain a META-INF/application.xml file. If the directory represents an ejb-jar file, it must contain a META-INF/ejb-jar.xml file. If the directory represents a war file, it must contain a WEB-INF/web.xml file. Please ensure the source directory is a valid module and try again.
Can you please let me know if this error is occuring due to some change in the version of SOA suites ..? Or am I missing something here. Please let me know ..
    Thanks,
    Raj Kumar

The above error indicates that you are trying to deploy as an application instead of SOA composite. Are you sure that, you are trying to deploy from SOA Infrastructure menu?

  • BPEL gets deployed on SOA server successfully but it is not available

Hi, I go to http://localhost:7001/em and click on SOA folder in the left panel. I can clearly see the soa_infra(soa_server1) under the SOA folder. There is a default partition under the soa_infra on which I deploy a BPEL application as a jar file (This jar file is generated by the JDeveloper.) The BPEL deploys successfully on the soa_server1 without any issues or error messages. The log file confirms that the BPEL got deployed successfully. Under the default partition on the left panel I can see the name of the BPEL now. I click on the BPEL name and look at the detail page. Over there, the "Test" tab is disabled. There are no instances or faults. Also under the "component Metrics" section, I don't see anything but a message: "Unavailable". I am already spending 3 days trying to find out what may be wrong and resolve the issue but I haven't been successful. Please help! Thanks.

Hi 952205, I start the soa_server1 manually right after I bring up the weblogic. In EM console (localhost:7001/em), I can see the soa_server1 is in "Running" state. There is an error message that comes up when I start the weblogic. It says something about the messaging server and I am not sure if it is related to the problem that I have: "<Error> <oracle.sdp.messaging.client> <SDP-25503> <Unable to connect to the messaging server.
javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: While trying to lookup 'OraSDPM.ejb/sdpmessagingserver/MessagingStoreRemote' didn't find subcontext 'OraSDPM'. Resolved ''; remaining name 'OraSDPM/ejb/sdpmessagingserver/MessagingStoreRemote'"
I basically need to test the BPEL and currently the "Test" tab is disabled.

  • JMX in SOA Applications

    Hi,
Has anyone created custom jmx mbeans in a SOA application?
Is it poosible to do so?
I was able to create MBeans in a java application and register them, but do not know how to do it in a SOA Application.
Need the mechanism to view performance of the deployed SOA.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Sapna

My reference for Websphere 5.1 is the "IBM WebSphere Application Server V5.1 System Management and Configuration" redbook, number SG24-6195-01. It has a section about page 780 and onwards about JMX, in the context of administration and scripting.
Presumably there's a similar reference for WS 5.0.

  • Is it posible to run soa application outside of container?

Does SOA applicarion has to be deployed to a container (such as weblogic)? is it posble to run as a standalone command applications? for exampel. a SOA application as simple as just call a web service, is it posible to run it without container?
    Thanks

SOA Suite is dependent on an Application Server such as WebLogic. It must also be deployed into a JVM or managed server. Containers is a term we used to give JVMs in iAS, these are the equivalent to WebLogic managed servers.
So I think to answer your question, the answer is no.
Even basic java web services need to be run in a JVM, as they are applications exposed as a web service. This can become confusing as JDev and Eclipse have built in application servers that apps get deployed to during development.
    cheers
