  • "Could not locate remote server" Error Message

I had to reinstall Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0 after a virus destroyed my system.  Now, when I open Editor (from "Full Edit" in Organizer), I get the following error message:
    "Could not locate remote server
    http:///???%12?%C3%AF???????????????%12?%12?g"
This problem did not exist before the reinstall.  What can I do to stop this error message from being triggered?
    Thanks!

I would suggest a complete reinstallation of the software. First uninstall the software using windows uninstaller and then comfirm if the folder c:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 5\ or c:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 5 whichever applicable has been deleted.  After this, install the PSE again

  • Cannot Ping Linux Server From Windows Terminal

    Hi Guys
Please forgive me if this is a really stupid quesion but I am very new to Linux.
I have recently installed Oracle Enterprise Linux 4 onto a server with the server name: oradbsvr
After following a tutorial from otn, I have successfully installed a 10g Database (10.2.0.1) and Apex 3.1 and APACHE. Whilst operating on the Linux box locally, all urls for the EM console and Apex work fine:
    e.g.
    http://oradbsvr:7777/pls/apex
When i try and access any of the EM or Apex sites from my windows box, I have to replace the hostname oradbsvr with its ip address (192.168.1.14)
This is the same at the cmd prompt from windows in that I can ping the Linux machine by ip but not hostname.
Since the Linux box will eventually be switched over to use DHCP, manually adding an IP address to the windows host file is not an option.
I guess my question is what do i need to do on the Linux box so that it can accessed via its hostname when using DHCP?
    Thanks for any suggestions
    Duncs

    Hi, Duncs!
Well, you need do nothing to the Linux box; that is not how the naming system works. You will need a way to have your Windows boxen know how to look up the server name in your naming service.
For example, you probably have a line in the "/etc/hosts" file on you Linux box that looks something like:
    xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx oradbsvr
If not, then your sys admin has defined an entry in the Domain Naming Service (DNS) or the WINDOWS equivalent. Your WINDOWS boxen need to be able to resolve the name to an IP address; that's not done by your Linux server.
Is your Linux box part of a local network domain? If so, it will have a fully-qualified domain name (FQDN, in the lingo). Perhaps oradbsvr.mynet.mycompany.com; if so, your WINDOWS boxen will need to use the whole FQDN name unless they have "mynet.mycompany.com" as their default DNS search list.
Life will be much easier if your sysadmin will use DHCP to assign a fixed IP address to the server and then you configure your WINDOWS TCP/IP services to use the same DNS service as the Linux box.
So, to make a long story short (too late, alas!) is that the problem is in your client setup, not the Linux server. Your network admin can make quick work of this, if you have one.
    Cheers

  • MICR font not displayed in PDF on SUSE Linux Server for Check Writer (XML)

We are generating checks by running the Check Writer(XML) concurrent request and are not able to see MICR fonts on the Check. We downloaded the free version from IDAutomationSMICR.ttf and the fonts were registered under /usr/local/fonts/micr directory. I registered in APPS and uploaded the file IDAutomationSMICR.ttf. Am I missing any steps. The DBA's have registered the fonts under /usr/local/fonts/micr on SUSE Linux Server . The custom Checks are generated but no luck with the fonts. Please advise. Can I download MICR fonts other than IDAutomation site? Appreciate your response.
    Thanks,
    Hari

I use version 11i, so the steps are probably different. Download a font file (gnuMICR for me). Extract it to a location of your choice on your operating system.
Follow these steps to load the MICR font to the server. (Step 11 was missing in some of the metalink documents in late 2007. I think Jan. 2008 will be OK).
    1.     Log in as XML Publisher Administrator.
    2.     Navigate to Administration->Font Files->Create Font File.
    3.     Fields are Font Name and File. For Font Name choose any descriptive name. File will browse your PC to locate the font file.
    4.     Navigate to Font Mappings->Create Font Mapping Set.
    5.     Mapping name is the name you will give to a set of fonts. [MICR Font]
    6.     Mapping code is the internal name you will give to this set. [MICR]
    7.     Type: 'PDF Form' for PDF templates. 'FO to PDF' for all other template types.
    8.     Create Font Mapping (this allows you to add multiple fonts to a set).
    9.     Font Family is the exact same name you see in Word under Fonts. If you don't use the same name the font will not be picked up at runtime. [GnuMICR]
    10.     Style and weight must also match how you use the font in Windows. Normal and Normal are good defaults. [Normal, Normal]
    11.     DO NOT enter Language or Territory
    12.     Choose a value for Font Type. [Truetype]
    13.     Search for the Font you just created in step 3. [GnuMICR]
    14.     Navigate to Configuration -> FO Processing -> Font Mapping Set. Can also be done at data def and template level under Edit Configuration. Hierarchy is Site-> Data Def -> Template.
    15.     Select your new mapping set.
    16.     Make sure the font is not referenced under File->Properties->Custom in the RTF template file.
    17.     Select a temporary directory on your concurrent processing node (Configuration -> General). This needs to be a private area not shared by other processes, read writeable by the applmgr (owner of the $APPL_TOP file system). It should be fairly large 5 GB or 20x larger than any datafile being used. The fonts will be downloaded here the first time they are used.
    18.     Also at this site level select your font mapping set.
    19.     Upload a template that uses your special font and test using preview.

    chris

Really would help to know what operating system you are using...
When you set up the disks for use with ASM, did you stamp them with ASMLIB? If not, did you configure device persistance with udev? Without using one of these methods, the disk identification can change when a node is restarted, and ASM is then unable to locate the disks.

  • Deploytool cannot connect to linux server

    HELP !!!
I'm trying to deploy an application from a Windows 2K machine onto a linux server on a small home network, but deploytool cannot connect to the server.
When I try File->AddServer it says 'cannot connect... please contact your server admin...' However, it works if i try to deploy locally on either machine.
I'm running a Samba network with static addresses on Redhat 7.1, and also with J2sdkee1.3 on both machines(Linux and Win2K). The machines on the network all ping each other successfully using both ip addresses and machine names.
I will greatly appreciately any help. Thanx in advance
    Kawsu

I have the J2SDKEE-1.3.1 installed on a linux RedHat 6.2 machine as well as a Win2K machine. The deploy tool can connect to localhost on either machine but when I try to deploy across the network the deploytool appears to connect and then sit there and do nothing. If I then stop the server the deploytool will issue an error and remove the server from the server list. Based on this it appears to be connecting to the linux machine. Also I see no significant network traffic while it is sitting there.
If anyone has any information on this could you please reply to [email protected]

  • Oracle Linux Server DVD found...or not

    Hi,
I'm using Microsoft's SVCMM to install Oracle Linux Server 5.7 on a 64-bit virtual machine; I'm using the text mode installer.
The first thing the installer tries to do is verify the DVD. It shows a progress bar that completes, then I see the message:
    [Media Check Result]
The media check PASSED for the image:
    Oracle Linux Server 5.7 DVD
It is OK to install from this media.
I then press "OK" and the next dialog box, immediately, says:
    [Error]
The Oracle Linux Server CD was not
found in any of your CDROM drives.
    Please insert the Oracle Linux
Server CD and press OK to retry.
    How does this make sense?

I experienced the same problem in a different type of setup and remember the fix was to use the "skip" button to bypass media verification.

  • Iweb with Lion: Umlaute after ftp-upload on linux-Server are not correct - but worked with Leopard!

Hi from Germany. I used iweb 3.04 and OS X 10.6+ and everything worked fine on different websites, including German Umlaute ä, ö, ü, ß.
After upgrading to Lion all Umlaute are not correct spelled (strange letters) after ftp-upload on a linux-server (which is the same as before). Before upload these Umlaute are spelled correctly, but not after upload.
Trials were a) upload htaccess file b) use older iWeb 3.03 c) asking server administrator (answer: "use ae, oe, ue instead"), but nothing worked.
    Any ideas or help?
Thank you very much, and excuse my english
    Peter

The problem lies in the uploading of the files or the server itself.  If the umlautes looked good on the server before then we have to think it's the uploading process.  Try using the free FTP client  Cyberduck to upload your site folder to your server.  Then check to see if the rendering is correct.
What's the URL of your site so we can examine it first hand?

Refer to this blog post, this should resolve your problem: ( http://rnm1978.wordpress.com/2011/10/05/obi-11g-upgast-00055-error-reading-the-oracle-universal-installer-inventory/ )

  • I can't get Flashbuilder 4.6 to connect to remote Linux server on port 80

I'm using Flashbuilder 4.6 on a Mac (Snow Leopard). I have a new CentOS 6.2 Linux server with Apache webserver 2.2.21 on it, then installed GlassFish 3.1.1 application server on it, then installed mod_jk to connect Apache and Glassfish. Everything is installed on the same server. I verified that I can deploy an example war file (web application) in Glassfish and access it fine using either,
mydomain.com:8080/mywebapp  (uses port 8080, which is direct connection to GlassFish)
mydomain.com/mywebapp   (uses port 80, which enters Apache and passes through mod_jk to get to Glassfish)
This works well (no errors in any logs files).
Then I download BlazeDS from Adobe website, create a hello world application with it and deploy it in GlassFish. I next try to setup a new Flex Project in Flashbuilder 4.5. Using the wizard, I come to the section (under Server location) where I need to input a Root Folder and Root URL. Everything works fine when using a Root URL of http://mydomain.com:8080/mywebapp, meaning, I can click on the Validate Configuration button and Flashbuilder connects to the server.
But if I enter in the Root URL input field http://mydomain.com/mywebapp, then Flashbuilder cannot connect to the server. I need to eventually close port 8080, so I need this solution, which uses port 80, to work.
I made sure that the httpd.conf file VirtualHost section does include a `JkMount /mywebapp worker1` statement, and I can even look at the mod_jk.log file and see that Apache correctly opens a socket for mod_jk to communicate via AJP between Apache and GlassFish (with no errors or warnings) when the address `mydomain.com/mywebapp` appears on port 80. The GlassFish server.log file also shows no problems.
I'm stumped what to do next. Does anyone have experience connecting GlassFish, mod_jk, Apache, and Blazeds (or LCDS, should be similar)? If so, do you see any differences in my setup compared to yours? I'm only trying to use RemoteObject (not messaging, or streaming, etc.) with Java POJOs.

    Hi!
Thanks for the reply. No, my ISP isn't providing me with three IP addresses, just one static address. And the VDSL modem...not a router, but beyond that, don't know much about it. Do have a switching hub, however, a gigabit thing that so far is working great.
Managed, somehow, to get everything working, however. Really don't know what I did. But I can now take the MBP off the wire and connect to the other Macs without turning on Airpot on those machines. Next step now is to take the MBP to another location and try to establish a connection to the home network via Desktop Transporter or Vine. That's the Holy Grail that will allow me to sever the cords that keep me from straying too far from home during working hours. Love to sit at that coffee shop across the park and do my work from there!

  • Could not locate new host added from Solaris 10 Sparc servers

    Hi All,
I am having difficulty finding a new host (Stallion terminal server. e.g. jodie - 10.56.4.7) using ping on our Sun Fire T5220 Solaris 10 on our network, even though jodie has been updated to the DHCP (10.56.19.157) server and can be located from other hosts that runs Red Hat Linux and Windows XP. By restarting nscd daemon with the following commands did not help:
    # svcadm disable system/name-service-cache
    # svcadm enable system/name-service-cache
Below is the static IP address detail for the Solaris 10 server:

Other Solaris 10 Sparc servers on the same subnet 10.56.120.0 also experienced the same issue even though they have been around for a while. Nevertheless, their DNS configuration may have been manually configured to see certain subnets and not 10.56.4.0 where jodie lives.
Any idea on where the problem lies?

  • Loading a flat file to Linux server

    Hello All,
I'm asking my previous question another way. I need to load flat files to a directory on a linux server. ODI is installed on a windows box. I created the physical / logical FILE architecure components and I'm testing the interface with a small file. I am receving an error message = 'File not found'. Specific questions:
    1. Do I need an ODI agent on the linux server to accomplish this?
    2. When defining the Data Server for the FILE I inclulde the Host / username / password and it tested successfully. Was this necessary? I did not do this for my windows files.
    3. Understanding #2 above, when define the physical schema, I included the host name. Is this correct? Since this is linux the slashes go in the different direction - yes? [I know this is a stupid question].
I am certain the file exists. Any recommendations are much appreciated!

1.) Yes you need an agent on linux to accomplish this. Or create a samba share that will let you access linux files on windows
    http://askankit.blogspot.com/2009/02/step-by-step-guide-to-install-oracle.html
2.) No this isnt needed for a File based dataserver. These details are needed for a DB based technologies.
3.) The host name is not needed. It is governed by the location of the agent. If the agent is on machine ABC, then the host is ABC.
In ODI, the agent is a server and the ODI installed on your windows box is just a client that connects to the server to execute jobs.
