Design View of Pages .jspx

Hi
When I try to change in jdeveloper from source view to design view in a page .jspx, it doesn't work, the problem is that the design view is totally white, and sometimes is kind of source code, but only displays panel boxes. It happens all the time in my project, but other projects work ok. What can I do to fix my problem?
Thanks

Did you enable design time diagnostics? Any errors in the log window if you do this?
Select menu Tools -> Preferences...
In the left pane, select JSP and HTML Visual Editor
There select the check box Show Design Time Messages in Log.

  • CS5 Design View: local page + images on server - images don't display

I've recently upgraded to DW CS5. I sometimes have occasion to design pages containing images that are on the server.
In DW8, images on the server would display in Design View.
In DW CS5, images on the server display a broken image icon in Design View.
Yes, I know I can switch to Live View, but I'd rather not, as I find Live View very difficult to edit in (if at all; I can somewhat edit in the code, but what's the point?). I'd far rather be able to see the images as I'm writing the page in Design View.
Am I missing some setting somewhere, or is this the way it is?

    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}

I found it under View > Display External Files.
Thanks so much for this. Really appreciated.
Used to be under the Commands menu long ago. Obviously relocated to the View menu.
That means that Adobe's own online Help docs for CS5 are incorrect.
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/dreamweaver/cs/using/WSc78c5058ca073340dcda9110b1f693f21-7cc1a .html
Note: When inserting images it’s also possible to use an absolute path to an image that resides on a remote server (i.e., an image that is not available on the local hard drive). If you experience performance problems while working, however, you might want to disable viewing the image in Design view by deselecting Commands > Display External Files.

  • Multi page report in design view and page breaks

    Hey,
I have designed a report that spans more then a single 8X11 page in design view. The report has one parent frame and 2 child frames. The parent data prints first and then there is a page break before each child's data. The trouble I am having is that where the report is designed over 2 pages in design view the first child's data prints on the 3rd page because of the page break, and then if there is another child it will start to print on the 5th page, etc. Another problem is with the actual page numbering and that page 1 according to the print out actually is 2 pages because of the 2 page design view. I am looking for a way to design a report on 2 pages in design view but have it to print on only 1 page per parent and child depending on how much data there is. If I could fit all of the data elements on a single page in design view it would be easy, but using 2 pages is making it difficult.
Does this make sense? Any suggestions?
    Thanks

Try doing the page break by setting the Page Protect property to Yes, not by Page Break before/after.

  • In Design View horizontal pages are cut off to portrait dimensions. How to fix this?

I am trying to  edit a form in livecycle designers "Design View" mode. Some pages are horizontal but they are displayed all in portrait mode, cutting off the right side of these horizontal pages so i can not see or edit them. Is there some way to fix it so I can see all of the page on these hoirzontal pages?

As it stands right now, your responsive-nav.css file is 404 not found on server.  Personally, I wouldn't use Spry for anything.  But that's your cross to bear.

  • VB code not showing in Design View

I am working with a form that has VB code for validation and need to style it with CSS. The problem is the form is not visible in Design View. The code is there, the page renders and works fine in a browser but has anyone seen this issue before? I have a similar form that uses C# and it shows up fine in Design view.
    the page is here:  http://www.housing.ucsb.edu/digiknow/digiknow_form.aspx

Display problems are most often caused by malformed code or an imbalance in opening and closing <div> tags.  Try validating your code and fix reported errors.

  • Server Side Includes not displaying in DW CS3 design view

I have this code in my page (see below):
When I open the file in Dreamweaver MX 2004 in design view,
the page displays correctly. That is, I see the correct styles from
the style sheet contained in Head_Standard.html and the logo/menu
    in Logo_TopMenu.html
When I open the page in DW CS3, I do not see the effects of
the style sheet and I do not see the logo/menu.
However, when I change the code for the first include from:
    virtual="/ServerSide
    to
    virtual="
    ../../ServerSide
then the page renders correctly in Dreamweaver CS3.
My first reaction was: what?! And my question is: how do I
use a root reference inside the head and get it to display properly
    in DW CS 3?

"Go to Edit > Preferences > Invisible Elements >
Server-Side Includes (Check this box) to show contents of included
    file"
    I already do this.
    For me:
    /ServerSide... does NOT work
    ../../ServerSide... works
So, a relative reference works and a reference to the root
does not. I have over 20 websites with root references and I need
    this to work in DW9.

  • Why is the Design View appearing distorted?

I have been designing an event page template in HTML and CSS to be used by my co-worker who handles all of our events and doesn't know how to write in HTML.
When I enter the HTML into the Event Content (HTML) entry box, everything works fine. The page looks like it should when I preview it, but when I change to Design View the page becomes distorted and skewed. This makes it nearly impossible to make any changes that aren't made in HTML View because the cursor jumps all over the page when I attempt to enter information in Design View. If it were just me this would not be a problem because I could change the event info on the HTML side, but because my co-worker has never used HTML I would like to get the Design View to show the page properly.
Is there anyway to correct the appearance of the Design View, so it displays the page correctly? Thanks for your help!!!

    Please check the screenshot: https://grabb.worldsecuresystems.com/Grid_Overlay.png
The overlay shows the column layout as defined using the Columns setting in the Site Properties. This is simply to help in laying out the site content using grid systems like 960. You can read more about grid systems at http://960.gs/

  • Working in Design View on the server

I was given a bunch of (.tpl) files that are on a server. I have to edit them in Dreamweaver (CS3) but the thing is, in Design View I can't see what the pages actually look like. The reason for that is because the CSS isn't showing in Design View (the page looks unstyled). Is there a way to have the CSS files "work" while I'm using Design View? Thanks.

AFAIK, DW doesn't support TPL (template) files by default.
But you can add file extensions to DW.  See below:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/164/tn_16410.html
Once you have the TPL file open in DW Design View, it should look much like any other HTML page.
If the TPL doesn't contain any inline styles or is not linked directly to an external CSS file, look at Design Time Stylesheets.

  • Dreamweaver CS4 Design View Issues

    Hi,
I'm experiencing issues with the design view in DW CS4. It seems a little buggy to me. Sometimes I cannot seem to select any items at all, either using a single or double click. It's starting to drive me nuts. Is there an easy way to enter into this form of editing that's a little less random ?
    Many thanks in advance

There are two things that could prevent you from editing a region of DW's design view:
The page is the child page of a DW template and the region you are trying to edit is in a NON-EDITABLE part of that template, and cannot be edited in the child page.
The container (i.e., the ancestor) for the region you are attempting to edit has a CSS style of "overflow:hidden" applied to it.  Double clicking (or right click > Element View > View All) would open that region for editing.
If you are able to verify that one of those two possibilities is in play, then you have your answer.  If neither of them applies, then we would need to see the page and its code - perhaps you could post a link to it?

  • Design view problem after upgrade to CS4

I just upgraded from DW 8 to CS4. When I open up (using design view) any page created in DW 8, only the top portion is shown in CS4. All pages in my website seem to have the same problem being displayed in CS4 using design view.
Does anyone know what the problem could be? I would greatly appreciate some help! I am attaching a screen shot from CS4. A page example is available here: http://www.studentguideusa.com/Sports.php
    Thanks!

That page uses includes, and has more than one head, body, etc.
Include files should contain only the code for that section of the page, so that when everything is put together you end up with one DOCTYPE, one pair of <html> tags, one <head>, and one <body>.
Earlier versions of Dreamweaver ignored the invalid code. Dreamweaver CS4 does not.

    Hi Didier,
Sorry, intermittent problem is not very descriptive ! What I actually meant is that some of my applications have the problem while others dont. Once the problem exists, it always does regardless of restarting JDeveloper.
Starting JDeveloper using the console provided similar error message to outputting the JSP visual editor to the log file :
SEVERE: Element End name:head does not match start name:script
    04-Dec-2009 17:28:38 oracle.adfinternal.view.faces.io.HtmlResponseWriter endElem
    ent
SEVERE: Element End name:html does not match start name:div
Reading other posts, problems seemed to stem from errors within the faces-config or web.xml files so I compared them between apps displaying pages correctly and ones that weren't. I found a difference in the filter-mapping section of the web.xml. Changing the entries to match the applications that displayed correctly has worked !!
The entries for the apps that didn't display correctly :
        <filter-mapping>
            <filter-name>adfFaces</filter-name>
            <servlet-name>Faces Servlet</servlet-name>

        <filter-mapping>
            <filter-name>jhsAuthenticationFilter</filter-name>
            <url-pattern>*.jspx</url-pattern>
</filter-mapping>Somehow the filter-mapping entries for the adfFaces and adfBindings filter got all screwed ? Strange as the application has always worked fine, the only (obvious) problem has been the jspx pages not rendering properly in design view.
Once updating the web.xml with the correct value for these two entries, the pages are displayed correctly :)
While I don't like blindly making changes like this to the web.xml - the application still seems to function !

  • How to add addtitional pages in design view?

How do I create additional pages in design view?  I have tried using NEW PAGE AFTER, but that doesnt add another page in design view, like I need.
I am creating a report that uses 8 subreports per page to dynamically create labels.  Currently I have a report header, and am using the page header to arrange the subreports so the top of each subreport prints on the top of each label.  The fields in the subreports can grow, and fill in the label from the top down.
I need to create a multiple pages using this format, but I dont know how to add more pages in design view.  Essentially I need subreports 1-8 on page 1, 9-16 on page 2, etc.  I would like to preserve the formatting I have created thus far, but I can always change it if I have to.

In attempting to create the label sheets I needed, I ended up creating 14 separate reports (which report on 6 individual queries), because there are 14 pages worth of labels that need to be created.  What I wish to accomplish is to condense these 14 reports down to 6 reports.  One for each query.  What I absolutely cant find a way to do, is to get Crystal Reports to allow me to customize subreports on consecutive pages.  Again, I have 8 subreports on each page, which have been formatted to fit on 8 labels when printed.  Each subreport is identical in design, but has a different range selected (i.e. my driving value in each subreport has been modified with Select Expert to be between 1 and 5, or 6 and 10, or 11 and 15).  This is how I have been able to return 5 consecutive results on each label, with the next label returning the following 5 results.
My ultimate question:  Is it possible to create a multi-page report using this method?

Dreamweaver is pretty good these days at showing the page in Design View how it will be viewed when online. HOWEVER having said that it does largely depend on the way you write the css.
I guess for Dreamweaver it's impossible for it to show every concievable way you can write css correctly. Unfortuantely if your css is not compatible with what Dreamweaver likes it won't make a great job of rendering the site correctly in Design View, that's always been the case.
The css is not wrong but I've seen many display issues in Dreameaver Design View caused as a direct result of the css being overly complex to crack simple presentation. I guess it's in the lap of the gods if you are fortunate enough to have found the way to write css that Dreamweaver likes.

  • My pages are missing in design view ?? but not in live view?

I am using win 7 & DW5.  I have not used DW% for more than a week.  I need to update today and there is no page to work with? I don't know what to do?  [email protected]

I have two sites up and running ... www.latheart.com and ... svwoodturners.org.  Both are ok. This past weekl I installed chrome !@#$%^!  didnot like it so I uninstalled it !@#$%^&!  What a mess that caused. Some of the reg files had to be rewritten in the regesters also my photos also do not open automatically any more. The fonts were changed in almost everything.  I think I have fixed most everything and then I found this problem with DW5.  I do not know it that is related or how the htmls could even be affected. But both of my sites have the same issue.  They will not dysplay in design view ..... Thanks for any help or suggestions. Rich Johnson San Jose Ca.
I don't know how to enter the code here ...  I have cut and pasted and it creats the page with out the photos.

  • Is there any way to display the Design View in fluid grid pages?

After upgrading to the newest version of DW CC 2014, I noticed that the Design View is disabled in Fluid Grid pages. You can only use the Live View to edit those pages. The Design/Live button displays on non-fluid pages.
I'm wondering if there is a work-around to allow Design View editing on fluid pages. It is a major hassle to try to edit some things in the Live View. It would nice to have a choice.

Have you actually tried using is? Try this?
    1) Create a new Responsive Layout. We’ll call it demo.php, fluid.css and the usual accompanying DW files.
    2) Enter demo.php and progress is normal. Everything works. You can choose to view both Live and Display and edit accordingly.
    3) Close down DW.
    4) Open DW and open demo.php
    5) There is NO LONGER a Display View option and Live View does not EDIT. (at least it doesn't for me)
    6) I can ONLY edit work in CODE view.
Thus, on brand new files, all is fine. The moment DW is closed and the files becomes “old” it can no longer be seen or edited properly.
How am I supposed to provide support to clients? How can I access a Responsive site I built last week when Live View will not edit and Display will not display?
I feel this is a programming error, not a purposeful act.
