Determine the Java Class File Major & Minor Version

Did anyone tried to look at the Major & Minor version of a specific java class file.
Our server is running in version 1.3. We are including a third party class file, I like to check before our production move, whether the file is compiled is <= Jdk1.3.
Thanks in Advance.

// 1) Download Jakarta BCEL
// 2) compile this class
import org.apache.bcel.classfile.*;
public class Main
     public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception
          printClassVersion("c:\\foo.jar", "com/foo/Bar.class");
     public static void printClassVersion(String jarfile, String classfile) throws Exception
          ClassParser cp = new ClassParser(jarfile, classfile);
          JavaClass clazz1 = cp.parse();
          System.out.println(jarfile);
          System.out.println("Major: " + clazz1.getMajor());
          System.out.println("Minor: " + clazz1.getMinor());

And I will register this form with apps and will run the from Oracle apps. I want to know that there is a java class file that is being refered by the form, where should this java class file be placed and is there any other places where any changes are required so that the form runs correctly from the Oracle apps and can find the java class file.

    I have imported .class file into CMC and trying to invoke the .class file by another java program from eclipse..When i tried to invoke the .class in cmc, i am getting an error msg, mentioned above. I thought there might be version conflict. So i changed the java complier version to 1.5 in my Eclipse. After that is done again i am facing the same problem.
    Can anyone help me to resolve this issue?
    Thanks in Advance.

    i have installed BO SDK 3.1 , Service pack 3. It comes woth JDK 1.5 version. i have not done any chnages to it. I impoprted all the jar files related to BO into eclipse.
    1)  Actually, i am writing java code on eclipse. When i run code from the eclipse, it creates a session to cmc and creates folder structure what i need.
    2)  But the thing is, that code needs to run, when i import the .class file into cmc. The process how i imported the .class file to cmc.
    Manage> Add> Program File-->Java (Check Box). In this way i added java class file from the eclipse workspace (class file from the bin directory).
    3) So when i run the .class file externally by another java program or also when i log in to CMC and run that .class file, the instance shows sucess, but when i see the logfile i am getting an exception that which i mentioned above.
    If my method is worng can you please let me know the stepts how to run java program in cmc.
    Thanks in Advance

  • Java class files location of OSB resources

    What is the location of the java class files that get generated when OSB project/resources are deployed to the server ?

    Hi Lisan,
    Which version are you using? Folder strucure differs for 11i and R12 versions.
    All the class files will be placed under the JAVA_TOP folder. From there you have to follow your package structure. Here it is oracle/apps/xxogl/f04/cp/file

  • Where to place an xml file that is read by  java class file  dir structure

    Hello all,
    I have an xml file that I am using in lieu of a database to track conference rooms . This is a small file. I need to read this file from my java class file which is used by a jsp. Currently I have an absolute path C://logger/conference.xml. All works fine but I need to deploy to a different machine soon and so I need to place this file somewhere in the project directory structure (created by netbeans) so that it will be included in the war file and can be read by the java class file.
    Also what would be the relative path to this suggested directory.
    TIA!!!

  • Is it possible to put the java classes of an application and run?

    Hi All,
    Please excuse me if this question seems meaningless / laughable.
    We get java class files by compiling the source code with java compiler. To run the application, classpath can be set to the folder where the class files are stored and then run the main class.
    Now the question is, is it possible to read the class files to RAM and then run the application. I highly appreciate your help.
    Thanks in advance.
    Chinnaswamy

    You could
    1.) copy the class files to a ramdisk
    2.) write another class loader that deletes the class files after loading >them from ram
    but all of this is probably not necessary.
    What exactly would you like to achieve by doing this? Thanks, JoachimSauer.
    The idea I have in mind is to first read and store the java class files in C/C++ code and then while running the C/C++ code, read & put the java classes into RAM and run the java application.
    This way the decompilation problem can be alleviated for valuable java applications. ( I am not sure, this will work)
    Another reason could be speed improvement. Classes in RAM is expected to make the application to run faster than when class files are in hadr disk
    With regards
    Chinnaswamy

  • Deploying the JSPs, Servlets and Java class files

    Hello All,
    I'm very new to the Oracle 9i AS. We are using Version 1.0.2.2.
    How do we deploy the JSPs, Servlets, and Java class files (simple class files, not EJBs)?
    plese give us the procedure and stpes how to deply or the links for the same.
    Thanks,
    Santhosh.

    Hi
    I guess u r running apache-jserv as servlet engine for your jsp and servlets. If its so, jsp files can be run without any additonal configuration by putting the jsp file under document root or any subdirectory and for running servlets u have to add classpath entries for your servlet in jserv.properties file.
    To make sure that your servlet engine is working, try
    http://servername:port/servlet/IsItWorking, if u get success msg that means servlet engine is working fine.
    Hope this will help
    Regards
    Kumaran

  • Include metainformation (My version number) into a java class file???

    Hy
    It is possible to include metainformatins like the versions number to a java class file?
    I think at the way of the VB6 programmers. The generated exe file contain a rigth click menu (Win Explorer) which shows the mettainformations from the developer (copyright, author, version number of the class file).

    The windows version info is specific to windows compound files, where the info is incuded as part of the file. Java is platform neutral, and doesn't support windows binary specific metadata (just like you can't add version info to a text file in windows). Other os's allow metadata that is seperate from the binary format of the file, so do not suffer from this limitation.
    Distributing your jar as a self extracting exe for windows will allow this info to be added.

  • Java .class files - Moving the Main Class .class file to a new location

    Novice question....so much so that I hope it's even coherent...
    In a Java program which references many associated .class files (e.g. bicycleMain.class, bicycleSub1.class, bicycleSub2.class, etc....), do the associated .class files always have to be located in the same directory as the Main .class file?
    What I'm getting at is - If I've developed an application consisting of several .class files on my own Windows PC and I want to put the compiled application out on our Windows File Server so that anyone can execute my application, how would I go about doing this?
    Say I put the compiled .class files in H:\PROJECTS\JAVA\COMPILED\, will other people be able to execute the application from their PCs by simply issuing the command line:
    'java h:\projects\java\compiled\bicycleMain'
    Any insights would be very helpful in getting me oriented. Thanks in advance.

    Interesting...so are you saying the command line might look something like this:
    java -classpath h:\projects\java\compiled bicycleMain
    And if I want other people to be able to execute the application without specifying the -classpath option then they would need to manually update the ClassPath environment variable on their individual PCs first?

  • How can I rewrite the java.io.file class to a custom file class?

    Hi All!
    Im new to Java. Well, I did some experiments with small Applets. Because it is not allowed to use Files in an unsigned Applet, I need to know, how I can manage to overwrite the java.io.File class. The background: I have to port some Applications which need file access into Applets.
    I think it is necessary to create a class with the same signature then the Java.io.File that stores the information in an database on the Webserver or read information from there. Then overload the java.io.File with my custom file class.
    Is this possible and, if so, how?
    Thanks!

    Hi yawmark !
    Thanks for the quick answer! My idea to store the filecontent into a database is caused by the plan to make the application-port independent from the workstation executing it. So it would be a nice feature storing the "files" into a database.

    Solved
    Just do these things.... If you initially complied your classes in jdk1.5 and if u r trying to run the same in 1.4.2 or other.. The already compiled classes will be expecting jdk 1.5 JRE for their runtime execution. So what u have to do is......
    1.stop ur sever
    2.delete the work directory in tomcat
    3.Delete the work directory in your projects web-app Folder
    4.Now cleann the project... Build... and Run Again ... . It should work...
    if still it dont , i prefer use only jdk1.4.2 on system.. set enviorment variebles for it...Reinstall tomcat .. and do above mentioned steps ,,, This should solve the problem...
