Determining the executing environment...

I have a very complex PL/SQL program with multiple packages calls. In order to log the process I insert in a log table both informative messages and error messages.
In a development environment I need the informative messages but NOT in others environments...
Is there any "global variable" or similar what I can to use to know where the process is executing?
In other words , I need the next... (pseudocode)
LOG PROCESS:
IF ( "global_variable OR similar<>"DEVELOPMENT" and MESSAGE_TYPE ='INFORMATIVE' ) THEN
NOT WRITE LOG_MESSAGE;
ELSE
WRITE LOG_MESSAGE;
END IF;
For exemple, I think I could use
select instance_name
from v$instance;
If instance_name is a DEVELOPMENT HOST then I write informative messages... But I don't like to do always this SELECT when i need to log...
I need ideas... Can I use a default ORACLE CONTEX, for exemple?
Sorry for my horrible english...

Here the idea with the package variable:
In your development environment you could use this
create or replace package yourpackage as
debug_mode boolean:=true;
end;in other environments this:
create or replace package yourpackage as
debug_mode boolean:=false;
end;Your application code then:
if yourpackage.debug_mode then
  <your activities>
end if;
...The package variable can be used as global variable.

  • How do I determine the executable version number?

    Hi.
I have a VI and a build specification for it.  In the Version Information section of the build specification, I set the version number to auto-increment.  I would like to display this version number on an indicator on the front panel of the executable, but I have not found a property that provides this information. Does anybody know how to get the executable version number? I am aware that it is possible to right-click on the .exe file in windows explorer, go to properties and get it that way, but I would like to display it on the VI itself.
On a related topic, I have noticed that only the 'build' field of the version gets auto-incremented. How does the application builder decide when it is time to increment the major, minor and fix fields?  Or will it only ever auto-increment the build field and I am supposed to update the other fields manually? (That would actually make sense, but I would like confirmation.)
    Thanks in advance,
    Alejandro

  • Enable-CsUser : The EXECUTE permission was denied on the object 'XdsPublishItems', database 'xds', schema 'dbo'

I have created a PowerShell script that automates enabling users for Lync and setting policies based on group membership. I've successfully tested this script under my domain admin account and now I am working on getting it running as a scheduled task.
Since all the script really does related to Lync is run the commands Enable-CsUser, Set-CsUser, and Grant-Cs<policy name>Policy, I elected to create a service account that only has Lync user administration permissions.  Initially, this user account
was just a member of CSUserAdministration but this was not working so I added the user to RTCUniversalUserAdmins based on some other information I found.
This change got me by the various access denied errors I was getting in the script, but now I am getting the following error when I run the Enable-CsUser part:
Enable-CsUser : The EXECUTE permission was denied on the object 'XdsPublishItems', database 'xds', schema 'dbo'.
    At line:1 char:1
    + Enable-CsUser -Identity <redacted> -RegistrarPool <redacted> - ...
    + ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    + CategoryInfo : NotSpecified: (:) [Enable-CsUser], SqlException
    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException,Microsoft.Rtc.Management.AD.Cmdlets.EnableOcsUserCmdl
    et
This seems to be some sort of permission error related to the permissions on the SQL database "xds".  I checked, and RTCUniversalUserAdmins is a member of both CsUserAdministration and RTCUniversalReadOnlyAdmins.  This latter group does
have permissions on the xds database.  It appears to be granted the "public" role on the database server.  The User Mapping shows the following users mapped to the login:
    cpsdyn: public,ReadOnlyRole
    lis: public,ReadOnlyRole
    rgsconfig: public,ReadOnlyRole
    rgsdyn: public,ReadOnlyRole
    rtcxds: public,ConsumerRole
    xds: public,ConsumerRole
Even though I receive this error, the user is actually added to Lync. Follow-up Set-CsUser and Grant-Cs<policy name>Policy cmdlets succeed just fine.
What do I need to do to fix this error message?

The issue is not related to UAC / Run As Administrator / Run With Highest Privileges.  I have verified that accounts granted only the CS User Administrator role simply do not have access to the XdsPublishItems stored procedure in the Lync xds database,
even if they are members of RTCUniversalUserAdmins.
Also, it does not have anything to do with my script.  Even if I grant my service account that local Administrator rights on the Lync front-end server, log into the server with that account, and run the Lync Server Management Shell as administrator
and then do just the Enable-CsUser cmdlet (not my whole script), I get the same error.
I ended up opening a Microsoft support case (#114040311332658) and it has been going on for weeks now.  Eventually they just told me that I needed to either have my script establish a remote PowerShell session to Lync or install the Lync management
tools on another server and have the script call the Lync Server Management Shell from that server.  They say this because the Planning for Role-Based Access Control documentation (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg425917.aspx)
    has the following tip:
"RBAC restrictions work only on administrators working remotely, using either the Lync Server Control Panel or Lync Server Management Shell. A user sitting at a server running Lync Server is not restricted by RBAC. Therefore, physical security of your
Lync Server is important to preserve RBAC restrictions."
I did attempt to run a PowerShell instance on my workstation as the service account, establish a remote PowerShell session to the Lync front-end server, and then run Enable-CsUser and I can confirm that it does run successfully and I do not receive an error
    of any kind.
I told the support personnel that the tip stating that RBAC doesn't actually restrict permissions if running PowerShell on the server itself doesn't mean that you simply cannot run PowerShell cmdlets and scripts on the server, it just means that the user
running the cmdlet or script won't have their accessible cmdlets limited to only those granted to the role assigned.  I told them I want a description of what the XdsPublishItem stored procedure does at a high level so I can determine if the error can
just be simply ignored in this case.  I'm still waiting for them to get back to me on that.
They did say they tested it on their end and confirm the same behavior in their test environment.  They also said that it doesn't seem to have any sort of negative impact on the functionality of the enabled Lync user or the consistency of the SQL database.
That said, I don't want to just take their word for it without them knowing what XdsPublishItem does.

  • How do I create a stand-alone execute out of my teststand sequence? I need to run the execute on a computer that does not have the tesstand application installed on it.

I would also like to use the teststand basic gui window wich asks for the serial number and then runs the tests without seeing the teststand environment in the background
ie I would like the test to look simple to the user without building a new gui.
    Sincerely
    Aik Lewin

    Hi,
You will need to use the Run Engine Installation Wizard found on the Tools menu. In addition you need to create a installation set for the operator interface.
Look at Chapter 16 Distrubuting TestStand ( chapter 17 for version 2).
Once you have created your installation, install is on your new system.
The serial number etc is part of the process model. When you run the entry point 'Test UUTs' the PreUUT callback is executed which asks the user for the serial number.
    Hope this helps

  • How Can I Determine the Size of the 'My Documents' Folder for every user on a local machine using VBScript?

    Hello,
I am at my wits end into this. Either I am doing it the wrong way or it is not possible.
Let me explain. I need a vb script for the following scenario:
    1. The script is to run on multiple Windows 7 machines (32-Bit & 64-Bit alike).
    2. These are shared workstation i.e. different users login to these machines from time to time.
    3. The objective of this script is to traverse through each User Profile folder and get the size of the 'My Documents' folder within each User Profile folder. This information is to be written to a
.CSV file located at C:\Temp directory on the machine.
    4. This script would be pushed to all workstations from SCCM. It would be configured to execute with
    System Rights
I tried the script detailed at:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/heyscriptingguy/archive/2005/03/31/how-can-i-determine-the-size-of-the-my-documents-folder.aspx
    Const MY_DOCUMENTS = &H5&
    Set objFSO = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
    Set objShell = CreateObject("Shell.Application")
    Set objFolder = objShell.Namespace(MY_DOCUMENTS)
    Set objFolderItem = objFolder.Self
    strPath = objFolderItem.Path
    Set objFolder = objFSO.GetFolder(strPath)
    Wscript.Echo objFolder.Size
The Wscript.Echo objFolder.Size command in the script at the above mentioned link returned the value as
'0' (zero) for the current logged on user. Although the actual size was like 30 MB or so.
I then tried the script at:
    http://www.experts-exchange.com/Programming/Languages/Visual_Basic/VB_Script/Q_27869829.html
This script returns the correct value but only for the current logged-on user.
    Const blnShowErrors = False
' Set up filesystem object for usage
    Set objFSO = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
    Set objShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
    ' Display desired folder sizes
    Wscript.Echo "MyDocuments : " & FormatSize(FindFiles(objFSO.GetFolder(objShell.SpecialFolders("MyDocuments"))))

    FindFiles = FindFiles + FindFiles(objSubFolder)
    If Err.Number <> 0 Then ShowError "FindFiles:05", objSubFolder.Path
    Next
    Else
    ShowError "FindFiles:03", objFolder.Path
    End If
    End Function
' Function to format a number into typical size scales
    Function FormatSize(iSize)
aLabel = Array("bytes", "KB", "MB", "GB", "TB")
    For i = 0 to 4
If iSize > 1024 Then iSize = iSize / 1024 Else Exit For End If
    Next
    FormatSize = Round(iSize, 2) & " " & aLabel(i)
    End Function
    Sub ShowError(strLocation, strMessage)
    If blnShowErrors Then
    WScript.StdErr.WriteLine "==> ERROR at [" & strLocation & "]"

    WScript.StdErr.WriteLine " " & strMessage
    Err.Clear
    End If
    End Sub
The only part pending, is to achieve this for the 'My Documents' folder within each User Profile folder.
    Is this possible?
    Please help.

Here are a bunch of scripts to get folder size under all circumstances.  Take your pick.

  • Is there a way to determine the equivalent ANSI C code from a Labview project?

I'm a complete beginner to Labview.  I have this fairly complex Labview project that was used to create a DLL which matlab could call to control my PCI-6534 card without having to know the NIDAQmx calls.
I'm in the process of figuring out how to make those NIDAQmx calls directly from Matlab but I'm not getting the same results as when I call this DLL mentioned above so I thought I'd try to make sense of the Labview project VIs.  I'm starting to make sense of the overall scheme of the VIs, but I'd like to be able to run the project, step through it, and perhaps see the NIDAQmx commands (or something equivalent so I can determine how to call the NIDAQmx commands within Matlab).
    Is this possible to do?
    Thanks,
    Jason
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Yes. The toolbar allows you to turn on highlighting so you can run the VI and see the contents of wires. You can put probes on wires. You can single-step through code. All of this is explained in the LabVIEW Help under Fundamantals -> Running and DEbugging VIs -> Concepts -> Debugging Techniques.
In regards to the implied question in the title of your post, no you cannot directly convert LabVIEW code to C in the development environment. Yes, there are tools to convert LabVIEW to C, but that's intended for microprocessors.

  • How to determine the number of rows of data in a datatable?

I have a datatable that I fill from an SQL query.  I do not know exactly how many rows of data it will return (due to my selection criteria) but will be somewhere between 100 and 300 rows.  I send this data into a report but need to determine the length of the report (panel height data member) programatically based on how much data the query has returned.  So, I need a way to count how many rows are filled in the data table.
I tried doing a nested "if" statement checking the value of each cell but when I tested the expression at 59 "if" statements (will need 300+) I got a parser error in lookout when I tried to accept the connection.  I also tried a type of loop by assigning cursor.2 either to its own value (circular) or to its own value plus one depending on the value of the cell at cursor.2.  It was close but overshot by one row or more (much more sometimes).
Any clever ideas?  Perhaps I have just been looking at this problem too long.  Thanks, in advance, for your help.

Since the datatable gets the data from the SQL query, you can also use the SQL statement to count the number of rows in the query result.
For example, in datatable you do "select localtime, trace1 from intdata where xxx". You can get the count by "select count(trace1) from intdata where xxx". Use the same condition in order to get the same number of rows.
Maybe another SQLExec object is needed to do the count.
Whenever the datatable executes the SQL, the SQLExec executes and return the count.

If you want to knowthe GL accounts which are used presently for the transaction VST, you can go to table T030K give the field name KTOSL value as VST and execute. YOu will get the list of all GL accounts which use the transaction VST for all possible tax codes and Chart of Accounts.

  • PDF loaded using ActiveX will not load when the executable is used on another computer

    Hello,
I am fairly new to Labveiw and have created a CAN diagnostic tool which uses an ActiveX control to display the CAN Spec PDF on the front panel. This works absolutely fine and still works fine when I create and use an executable on the same computer. However, I need to use the application on multiple computers that do not have Labview installed, and therefore require the executable. I have tried placing a copy of the PDF in the "Volume" folder and recreating the .exe with that path, then placing it in the same location on another computer, but no luck. I am fairly certain it has to do with the static file path, set in the Main VI, since it refers to a static location that does not necessarily exist on the next computer. I need some way to get around this though, so that I can easily transfer the application from one computer to another. The code I am using is very simple; I just open Adobe Reader and the file during initialization then close the reference path (see attached picture). Any Ideas?
    Thank you for your assistance!

A solution that I have found to work well is to use the Project Directory node as a root path. In the development environment this node will always return the path to the directory containing the project that is calling it. In an executable, it returns the path to where the executable is located.
With that known starting point, I can put files like that pdf in either the same directory as the project/executable or a subdirectory of that location and I can always find it.
When creating a build spec you can include non-LV files and specify destinations for them. Likewise, the installer will then put these files where they belong during the installation.

  • How to determine the source of Events triggered in a process chain

    Hi ,
We have almost a 100 process chains, and of these approx 20-30 local process chains are triggered by events raised within other process chains.  These events are raised via BP_EVENT_RAISE using the ABAP process type.
However, our problem is to identify the source of these event trigger - i.e. which process chain triggered this event ?
Looking at SM64, the event history does not display the source for these events.
Is there any table or program that we can use to determine the source of these events which are triggered.
Any help is much appreciated and points awarded.
    thanks
    BK

    Hi,
do check in the program /SSA/BWT . or TCODE - ST13 -- enter BW-TOOLS and execute. -- Choose Process chains and execute --- Select the date and time for which you want to see the process chains and execute again.
This will give you the entire list of process chains triggered, status, timings(start, end, overall runtime). Once clicked on the process chains it will show you the steps in theprocess chains, data loaded in the data targets, source system, etc...
    hope it helps.

  • Locating source file NAME from the executable file?

    Hi all,
I wrote a vi a couple of year ago (call it file.vi), and created an executable out of it using the Application Builder (call it newfile.exe). I know I renamed the file
when I created the executable and now I cannot remember what I called the source file (I have hundreds in my PC, and cannot go through them one by one).
Is there anyway I can get the name of the original file from the executable? Notice that I am not asking to recreate the source file from the executable, which I understand is not possible.

    Dennis,
I must come clean and admit that I don't really know what source control is. Is it a back up of source codes in one place like a server? I am not a programmer but use some LabVIEW to
automate a few simple tasks (mostly related to test data). I work solo in this area and there's not a group of people working on different pieces of the same project.
I can Google and learn what source control is. I am assuming that the concept itself is not specific to LabVIEW, unless LabVIEW has build-in funtionality for source control
It is more like a database of files.  It keeps versions on each file so that you can revert back to a previous version if needed.  If working in a team environment, it helps to merge code and keep everybody up to date with everybody else.  But the versioning is the most important part.  I then recommend keeping the repository on a server that is regularly backed up.
For a simple SCC software, take a look at Tortoise SVN.

  • Determine the active tab in a selection screen

    Hello,
is it possible to determine which tab is currently activated in a selection screen with several tabs?
I will include different code in different tabs. When pressing the "execute" button the  program should return the active tab (as a value).
    Thanks
    Florian Schwaiger

    Hi florain,
Before you can use a tabstrip control in your ABAP program, you must create a control for each control in the declaration part of your program using the following statement:
    CONTROLS <ctrl> TYPE TABSTRIP.
where <ctrl> is the name of the tabstrip area on a screen in the ABAP program. The control allows the ABAP program to work with the tabstrip control. The statement declares a structure with the name <ctrl> . The only component of this structure that you need in your program is called ACTIVETAB.
    Use in the PBO event
Before the screen is displayed, you use the control to set the tab page that is currently active. To do this, assign the function code of the corresponding tab title to the component ACTIVETAB:
    <ctrl>-ACTIVETAB = <fcode>.
When you page at the SAPgui, you only need to do this once before the screen is displayed. This initializes the tabstrip control. The default active tab page is the first page. After this, the page activated when the user chooses a tab title is set within SAPgui.
When you page on the application server, you must assign the active page both before the screen is displayed for the first time, and each time the user pages. At the same time, you must set the required subscreen screen.
You can suppress a tab page dynamically by setting the ACTIVE field of table SCREEN to 0 for the corresponding tab title.
    Use in the PAI event
In the PAI event, ACTIVETAB contains the function code of the last active tab title on the screen.
When you page in the SAPgui, this allows you to find out the page that the user can currently see. When you page at the application server, the active tab page is controlled by the ABAP program anyway.
The OK_CODE field behaves differently according to the paging method:
    Paging in the SAPgui
When you page in the SAPgui, the PAI event is not triggered when the user chooses a tab title, and the OK_CODE field is not filled. The OK_CODE field is only filled by user actions in the GUI status or when the user chooses a pushbutton either outside the tabstrip control or on one of the subscreens.
    Paging on the application server
If you are paging at the application server, the PAI event is triggered when the user chooses a tab title, and the OK_CODE field is filled with the corresponding function code.
To page through the tabstrip control, you must assign the function code to the ACTIVETAB component of the control:
    <ctrl>-ACTIVETAB = <ok_code>.
This statement overwrites the function code of the last active tab page with that of the new tab title. At the same time, you must ensure that the correct subscreen is inserted in the subscreen area.
Otherwise, tabstrip controls are handled like normal subscrens in ABAP programs, that is, the ABAP program of a subscreen screen must contain the dialog modules called from the flow logic of the subscreen.
    Examples
    Tabstrip control, paging at SAPgui
    REPORT DEMO_DYNPRO_TABSTRIP_LOCAL.
    CONTROLS MYTABSTRIP TYPE TABSTRIP.
    DATA: OK_CODE TYPE SY-UCOMM,
          SAVE_OK TYPE SY-UCOMM.
    MYTABSTRIP-ACTIVETAB = 'PUSH2'.
    CALL SCREEN 100.
    MODULE STATUS_0100 OUTPUT.
      SET PF-STATUS 'SCREEN_100'.
    ENDMODULE.
    MODULE CANCEL INPUT.
      LEAVE PROGRAM.
    ENDMODULE.
    MODULE USER_COMMAND INPUT.
      SAVE_OK = OK_CODE.
      CLEAR OK_CODE.
      IF SAVE_OK = 'OK'.
        MESSAGE I888(SABAPDOCU) WITH 'MYTABSTRIP-ACTIVETAB ='
                                      MYTABSTRIP-ACTIVETAB.
      ENDIF.
    ENDMODULE.

  • Unable to determine the value of component  ''! Workflow error, please help

    Hi All:
I am getting the error "Unable to determine the value of component  ''" and workflows are not getting processed. I found OSS notes 879100 related to this issue but I am new to workflow and not sure where to start from! Here is the notes description:
The workflow WS20500025 ('Service Connection Order Processing') encounters an error directly after being started. The following error messages are displayed in the workflow log:
SWP102: Error at start of an IF branch
WL821: Work item 000000100012: Object FLOWITEM method EXECUTE cannot be executed
    SWF_RUN535: Error '9' when calling service 'SO_OBJECT_SEND'
SWF_RUN534: Problems occurred when generating a mail
WL863: Notification of completion cannot be generated
SWF_EXP_001073: Unable to determine the value of component 'QUOTATION'
SWF_EXP_001072: Error in the evaluation of expression '<???>' for item 1
SWF_RLS_001101: Operator 'GT': The value of the left operand cannot be determined
SWP085: Error when starting work item 000000100012
SWP010: Error when evaluating the IF condition for node 0000000075
    Other terms
Service connection processing, service connection workflow
    Reason and Prerequisites
This is due to a program error.
The checks in the workflow Basis have been made stricter. A query of the type 'Quotation.number > 0' now causes an error if the container element 'Quotation' is not set. This is always the case if the workflow is is running without quotation prcessing, for instance.
    Solution
The error is corrected in the next Support Package.
If you want to implement the corrections manually in your system, change the condition in step 000075 of workflow WS20500025 as follows:
        &IS-U: Kundenangebot& EX
    and &IS-U: Kundenangebot.Verkaufsbeleg& > 0
    Save and activate the workflow.
I am new to workflow and not sure where to start from! Could someone please help me with this? Rewards assured.
    Thanks.
