Determining which page an image is on

I am trying to replace all the images in a document with a different image. To do this, I am looping through all images in the document, getting the image bounds, determining which page the image is on, then using that information to create a textframe and place a new image. I am using this code to determine which page an image is on:
pageImageIsOn = myImages[ imgNum ].parent.parent.parentTextFrames[0].parent.name;
Sometimes, this gives the opposite page - I am not sure if it is giving the opposite page on the spread, or the wrong number because the textframe is linked to the page opposite on the spread.
The textframes are created dynamically in earlier parts of the script.
(the reason I am using this approach is that the original images are inserted in xml elements - they are placeholders - the replacement images are placed directly on the page)
Thank you.

Thank you - however, after experimentation, I think I need a different approach. Mixed facing pages is not the only obstacle. This is a toughy!
What I am trying to do is use placeholder images in xml elements (placed during rule processing of an imported xml doc) to mark locations for other images that will be placed in a second pass. These new images will be chosen based on the tag content.
I cannot place images based on content the first time through because they end up inside the xml element, and so cannot be floated in the margin.
My first approach involved looping through all images in the document (myDocument.allGraphics) and replacing them based on the content info I recorded in the initial doc processing - this ALMOST works. Unfortunately, they are not exactly in the right order - sometimes, they are a bit off, especially when content spans multiple pages.
I tried copying the placeholders into an array the first time through - however, the images in this array do not allow access of the page information via the heirarchy above.
Is there another approach? Thanks again for helping.

  • How can you determine which pages are using a specific symbol?

    I want to find all the pages that are using a specific symbol, but I don't know how.  I can't simply switch symbols because some have specific text & want to switch them with more generic smart buttons.  I'll have to find every instance to update the text.
    thanks!

    me too, my file has 39 pages with many unuse symbols, now I want to delete those unuse.
    I found that after deleteing those unuse in Page 1, actually they are being used in other page,
    I can't find the way to delete them all at one time for all pages.
    and I am using CS3

  • How can I tell which page is hogging my CPU?

    You know how sometimes when you're browsing your cooling fans will kick into overdrive, and your MacBook becomes noticeably warm, if not downright hot, and if you open the Activity Monitor and sort processes by %CPU it shows the Flash plug-in at the top of the list, using more CPU than the next ten processes put together?
    Determining which page contains the Flash object that's responsible can be difficult if you have a lot of windows and tabs open. First you have to tell which pages have Flash content. It isn't always obvious. Sometimes Flash ad banners look like static images or gif animations. The easiest way to tell is to right-click and see if you get the normal contextual menu or the Flash menu (unfortunately, ad banners sometimes listen for the mousedown event and navigate to the advertiser's site).
    If you have several different pages with Flash content open, the quickest way to tell which one is hogging your CPU is to close them one by one while watching the Activity Monitor window, but then you'll end up closing a lot of windows you really didn't want to close.
    A more precise, and more time-consuming, way to narrow down your list of suspects, if you have the "Develop" menu item enabled, is to inspect the page and hide the element that the Flash is embedded in. This is made more difficult by the fact that you can't inspect the element by right-clicking directly on the Flash object--that just brings up the Flash menu--and sometimes clicking nearby doesn't get you close to it because they sometimes insert the Flash elsewhere in the document and move it to its apparent location with JavaScript or CSS positioning. Once you find it, you then need to edit the object's parent element, adding "display: none;" to its style rules. Then check the Activity Monitor to see if you got the right one.
    I've searched in vain for a browser plugin that shows how much cpu or memory each page is using, or which pages include Flash content, or a utility like Activity Monitor that gives more detailed information on specific processes, and I'm wondering if anyone else has had any luck or has any tips on how to quickly identify useless content that wastes CPU time and kills performance.

    Hi David
    Rather than trying to sort out persistent Flash problems, simply install ClickToFlash - latest stable version is 1.5.5. This effectively blocks all Flash content, except for any you specifically want to view.
    Once installed, you'll see the word "Flash" in a grey panel wherever Flash ads etc would otherwise appear. If you want to see the Flash content, simply click on the word "Flash". If this is a site you frequent, right click on the word Flash and add it to ClickToFlash's White list.
    You'll find access to ClickToFlash's preferences via the Safari Menu.
    Given Apple's recent position on the use of Flash content, perhaps this deformed/ill-conceived plugin medium will be a thing of the past within 2 years.

  • I have about 5,000 images in a Folder.  How can I determine which images are NOT in a Collection?

    I have about 5,000 images in a Folder.  How can I determine which images are NOT in a Collection?

    Create a smart collection with criteria "collection" and "does not contain"; and also with criterion Folder contains (or folder contains all)
    That works if you are thinking about a specific named collection.
    If you are interested in finding photos that are not in ANY collection, the usual trick is "collection" "does not contain" "a e i o u y"

  • How can I determine which image was clicked in 3D carousel?

    I have been modifying some 3D carousel code that I found in hopes that I can get it such that when image "resolv2.jpg" (or any of my other images) is clicked on at the front of my carousel, it goes to a specific webpage. By just replacing "moveBack(event.target) from the toggler section of the code with "navigateToURL:(newURLRequest('http://google.com'), the target DOES sucessfully go to google when clicked on. However, I want to modify this code by altering the else statement to say something to the effect of "else if event.target (clicked on object) is 'resolv2.jpg' THEN go to google". So essentially, my question is how can I determine which image was clicked? Here is the entire code with the area I was altering bolded:

    Your answer may be correct, but I am very much a beginner to actionscript, and I was wondering moreso if it is possible to determine the root/url (i.e. images/resolv2.jpg)? Or even if InteractiveScene3DEvent calls a variable that holds this url? However, specifically, I'm just wondering if the actionscript itself could determine the url in a line of code such as "if object == BitmapFileMaterial("/images/resolv2.jpg"); "? Also, here's a copy of InteractiveScene3DEvent in more detail if you think that will help:

  • Determine in which page an iView is embedded at runtime

    Hi,
    is it possible for an iView to find out in which page it is activated at runtime. I would like my iView to show different information for different pages where it is embedded.
    Regards
    Edmund

    Hi Edmund,
    wow, that's strange (but it works the same at my site; only I didn't know). I would say this is a bug; at least the from JavaDoc you wouldn't expect such a behaviour.
    Nevertheless, it didn't bother me until now - you can split the returned original node by hand("pcd:portal_content/portalFramework/hsv/pages/de.hsv.portalSystems.frameworkPage/de.hsv.portalSystems.WAandNavPanelPage") so that your "parent node" would be "pcd:portal_content/portalFramework/hsv/pages/de.hsv.portalSystems.frameworkPage".
    When I needed differentiation by PCD structure, this was just what I needed (and I didn't need to have any information about the type of node, if it was a page / a workset...).
    Would this do it for you, too? (There are ways to determine nodes within PCD, also to get the detailed node information.)
    Hope it helps

  • How to determine which configuration is being used within a page/view?.

    If I click on the little cog icon to take me into the AET for a given assignment block, how do I know which configuration is being used?. Usually one is highlighted, but the case of the Accounts main address assignment block these details are not shown. As there probably 30 of them I though there must be a quick way to determine which is being used from within the view/page.
    Anyone
    Jas

    Hi Jason, (great performance at the Transporter, but go easy on the steroids )
    There are 2 ways to know that:
    1. put your focus (not in the configuration mode) on one of the fields that are on the block. then press F2. Here you get a popup where there is the configuration searched for and the configuration found.
    2. Within the configuration, when there is no configuration with the configuration key linked to your business role present, the system takes the <DEFAULT> one. there should at least one be highlighted, otherwise you get a dump NO_CONFIG_FOUND.
    When you just press the copy button on the configurations tab, you get your configuration defaulted, this being, the configuration key linked to your business role + the search for component, usage, and subcomponent. here you see what was searched for.
    Hopefully this helps you out a bit.

  • SDK function to determine if page has colors (cmyk)

    Hello.
    We have PDF which is in PDF-X/1a format. We have there black/white pages, but also pages with images in CMYK format.
    We are using Acrobat scripting to process that pages.
    And we wnat to know programaticaaly if page has some colors on it. If page is black/white = nocolor.
    If page has some othe color then black/white = color.
    Thanks for any soggestions

    You can use the Preflight feature in Acrobat 9 to determine what colorspaces are being used - assuming that black/white is really DeviceGray vs. DeviceCMYK.

  • How do I use a bean to determine which message bundle value to use?

    Is there a way to use a bean to determine which message from my message bundle I use? I want to be able to call my bean in JSF/JSP page, have the bean return a String, and use that String to pick a message from my message bundle properties file. Now I can do this:
    <h:outputText value="#{bundle.messageA}" />or this:
    <h:outputText value="#{bean.messageName}" />where I have a method on the bean like this:
    public String getMessageName(){
         if(someTest == true){
              return "messageA";
         } else {
              return "messageB";
    }I want to combine the two so my bean determines which message I pick. I want to do this because I want to keep all the text a user sees in the message bundle file. However, based on the state of the bean, I want to display different messages.
    Thanks in advance,

    Ah this way. So you want that much of nasty if statements in the bean instead? ;)
    Then make use of the fact that you also can access Map values using the brace notation. E.g.
    <h:outputText value="#{bundle[bean.messageKey]}"/>Where getMessageKey() returns the message key, e.g. 'messageA' or 'messageB' and so on.

  • How to automatically remove the wiki page's images from the Images library , when a wiki page is deleted

    I have noted the following strange behavior inside my Publishing enterprise wiki site collection. Now by default when I create a new wiki page and I add Pictures to it, the pictures will be saved under the “Images” library and will be inside a unique folder
    that have its name similar to the page name.
    But when users delete the picture from the wiki page or they delete the whole wiki page, then the related folder inside the “Images” library will not be removed. So can anyone advice if there is a way to automatically remove the page’s pictures
    folder from the Images library when the page is deleted? as currently i might end up having many pictures inside the Images library which are not linked to a wiki page, and they will waste my server desk space...

    I think, not sure, there's no out-of-the-box solution in SharePoint for this problem. So I can only think of custom solution:
    In event Receiver, ItemDeleting, you can delete images. The only downside is if some other pages are referring the images..... you need to check somehow which is quite time-consuming operations if you have thousand of pages in wiki library
    A timer job, that will run periodically, every day or week, and clean all unused images.
    Hide the default delete button and add your own. And then using your own custom layout page, show a 'configuration dialog' to user if they want to delete both page and images.
    Thanks,
    Sohel Rana
    http://ranaictiu-technicalblog.blogspot.com
    Please do not tell me this is not supported out of the ox ,,,,, i that i should handle this process by myself !!! and SharePoint does not support this feature .... this is another  problem i should include in my list .....

  • How to create a full page background image that is fluid?

    I'm creating a website for my portfolio, and one of the things I wanted to have is a full page background image that the div tags are in.  I know there is a way to put it in via page properties, but that doesn't allow you to add CSS styles and I want the image to re-size with window changes.  This requires putting the image in a div tag, but then it pushes the other div tags (such as my header section and navigation) so that they aren't over the image like I want.  Is there a way to push the image div tag to the back so that the other div tags go over it.
    I'm using HTML5, and it will also be a responsive design, but the fluid background is only for desktops.
    I don't go on the adobe website often, so if you have an answer to this, or need more information to figure it out please email me at [email protected] and you'll get a faster reply than on this forum.
    Thank you everyone for your help.

    You should set this forum to email you on a reply.
    I don't have a link in your question to determine how you are trying to do this, but here's a technique I have used:
    Take a look at this website and see if it doesn't have what you are trying to do. You'll see the flag in the background and I have used opacity in the layers on top of it to keep the flag somewhat visible.
    Now, what the flag does not do is re-size itself with the viewport (the browser window). But the flag is in a div that sits on top of the body. My code is accessible, but you're looking for the flag div and it's defined in CSS thusly:
    #flag {
              width: 100%;
              background-image: url("../images/polish-flag.png");
              background-repeat: no-repeat;
              min-height: 900px;
    Now, CSS3 adds a new attribute you can apply to the background image thusly:
         background-size: 100% 100%;
    That would make your background fill the viewport.
    I chose to not do that, because I was worried about versions of Internet Exploder before 10.

  • How to determine the page count of the front document (pdf-Preview) with applescript?

    Hello, I'm a beinnger apple scripter, and I have 2 questions. First, im trying to find the code to generate a page count for the front document of preview. I tried something like this:
    choose file with prompt "Count the number of pages in this PDF file:" without invisibles
    do shell script "/usr/bin/mdls -name kMDItemNumberOfPages " & quoted form of POSIX path of result & " | /usr/bin/grep -o '[0-9]\\+$'"
    But I dont want to have to choose a file with the prompt, and Im not sure how to get the path or POSIX path of an open pdf that is the front document in prievew to then use that directory to select the file to run the shell script on. This is one step in a much larger sequence of automator/apple script commands for large print jobs.
    The large scale view is:
    1. seleting a group .musx Finale 2014 files and creating pdfs of all the documents
         -Achieved with Automator stuff: [Get selected finder items] [open finder items with Finale 2014] [run applescript to convert to pdf all the open files] (which I have working but without a proper repeat condition)
    2. sorting those those exports into even/odd groups
    3. making the even pages 2 up with a create booklet plugin
    3. combinging even/odd group pdfs in their respective folders
    4. sending the 2 up evens to 1 printer, and the singes to another printer.
    but at this stage in the code/automator this is what i'll need to be doing:
    1. Several pdf documents will be open and I need to determine the page count of the front document.
    2. With that result I need to determine if the pagecount is even or odd.
    3. If its even, I need to save as pdf in a file folder /desktop/PDF Export/Doubles
         - if its odd, I need to save as pdf pages from 1 to (pageCount -1) to /desktop/PDF Export/Doubles, and pages (pageCount) to (pageCount) to desktop/PDF Export/Singles. (example: A 5 page pdf will send pages 1-4 to folder "Doubles", and pages from 5 to 5 to Singles, A 1 page pdf will only send a copy to the folder "Singles." A 2 page pdf will send both pages to "doubles"
    4. once the even/odd pages have had pdfs made in the either or both of the folders, Im going to close the document and repeat for all other open pdfs.
    Which also brings me to my 2nd repeat condition question: how can I repeat (print, save as pdf, close) commands for open files and end the script once all files are closed? This can help me both at this stage, as well the coding stage before in creating the pdfs from open Finale/sibelius .sib/.musx files
    would it be something like this?:
    If front document exists
    try
    tell application "preview"
    <bla bla>
    end try
    end tell
    At stage 1 of the large scale i've gotten the files to export pdfs and close multiple files, but if i say "repeat 4 times" and i have 3 files it can do those commands but it gets stuck trying to repeat the code one more time. I need the repeat amount x to be the # of items in selection from the the original finder window.
    Thanks for the help!

    The following AppleScript will get the POSIX path and filename of the current PDF file. It will just return the integer value for page count. Note: The path retrieved is the actual path to the PDF file, unless it is on the Desktop. In the latter case, the path will be ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.Preview/Data/Desktop/filename.pdf.
    The script assumes that the following folders exist, otherwise you will need a try block to test for their presence.
    The AppleScript dictionary for Preview does not provide a page dictionary entry, that would make a repeat loop and page range possible for saving individual page ranges.
    set pdfDoubles to POSIX path of ((path to desktop) & "PDF Export" & Doubles)
    set pdfSingles to POSIX path of ((path to desktop) & "PDF Export" & Singles)
    tell application "Preview"
      -- gets quoted POSIX path and filename
              set pdfFile to (get path of front document)
              set pdfName to (get name of front document)
      log pdfName
              set cmdArg to "/usr/bin/mdls -name kMDItemNumberOfPages " & pdfFile ¬
                        & " | egrep -o \"(\\d+)\""
              set pageCnt to do shell script cmdArg
      display dialog pageCnt
              if pageCnt mod 2 is 0 then
      -- even
      -- save pdfName in pdfDoubles
              else
      -- save pdfName in pdfDoubles
      -- save individual pages in pdfSingles
              end if
    end tell

  • How do I determine which version of Firefox I currently am running?

    How do I determine which version of Firefox I am currently running on my laptop? I use Quickbooks Online and I keep getting a message that they will shortly discontinue supporting the version of Firefox that I have.

    Help > About Firefox
    Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.18) Gecko/20110614 Firefox/3.6.18 ( ) = '''3.6.18''' - but that '''( )''' doesn't belong there and Quickbooks Online might be misreading your UserAgent as a result of that ( ) being there.
    Try resetting your UserAgent string.<br />
    [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_Agent]
    type '''about:config''' in the URL bar and hit Enter <br />
    ''If you see the warning, you can confirm that you want to access that page.'' <br />
    Filter = '''general.useragent.''' <br />
    Right-click the preferences that are '''bold''', one line at a time, and select '''''Reset'''''. <br />

  • How to create a scaled page background image?

    Hi - does anyone know of a way of creating a page background image which will scale to fit any screen width?  I've tried googling it, but get back so many complicated explanations that I don't know which to believe.  Up until now I've resorted to creating a large image, usually around 1700 x 1400px, which just about works, but obviously smaller screens lose a lot of it.  I'd really like to understand how to do this properly,
    Thanks
    SW

    How far back in browser version history do you want to support?
    IE9+ and any modern browser (like Firefox, Safari, Chrome and Opera) will work with the background-size:cover attribute:value in CSS3: http://www.w3schools.com/cssref/css3_pr_background-size.asp
    For older browsers, you'll need a bit more complicated solution using javascript like this page: http://louisremi.github.io/jquery.backgroundSize.js/demo/

  • How to determine which photos are not in an album?

    I have @ 5500 photos in V2.01 vor Os 10.2.8. I would like to determine which photo's are not in an album. I know I can write a perl script to do print this information, but it might be nicer if done from within iTunes.

    Billy,
    There is a way that will take a little time but will give you the results.
    Write down the name of all your Albums and number them.
    In iPhoto add the new numbers (corresponding to the albums) as keywords.
    After all the number keywords have been added you need to give the images in each album that numbered keyword.
    Highlight an album in the source column, select all, then assign them the number keyword for that album.
    do this for all the albums.
    Make sure your view is set to view keywords.
    You should be able to see any photo that does not have one of those number keywords.
    there might be a simpler way, but I don't have iPhoto 2 to test for you.
