Detla Infopackage Creation problem at Generic data source
Hi Experts..
In 7.0 BI I'm loading data in infoCube through generic data source ( type Table View). I have loaded the data first time ie Full mode. Now I would like to change update mode full to Delta. i have tried to create new infoPackage with DELTA Update MODE but this option is not available. as i have used Transformation and DTP to fetch the data in Info cube. in data souce Generic Delta is enabled at Numeric pointer.
your help will highly appreciable.

You have to fill in the Delta-Specific Field Name for any of the options. Numeric pointer is usually a document number that is guaranteed to increment with every change. This would not be a good choice for documents that can be changed after initial creation, or for number ranges that are buffered across application servers (unless you can set the safety limits to compensate).
After that, create and run an init InfoPackage, then you will be able to create a delta InfoPackage.

RSA3 is working fine for same datasource in DEV because you must have very less amount of data in DEV as compared to PROD.
I would suggest that instead of testing only in RSA3 , load the data into BW using infopackage schedule option in background and then see it is successful.

I have never created, though I will suggest to follow this:
A query can be created to extract information from master records i.e Infotypes. For example, by creating a query , the data relating to an employee contained in various Infotypes can be extracted.
Proceedure :
Decide on the various Infotypes we want to make the query. Decide on the area where we want to query i.e Global area or Standard area. Standard area is client specific and globel area will include all clients.
Menu : HR u2013 PM u2013 Admn - Information System - Adhoc Query
Select area standard and select the user group already created
Creation of new query :
TC SQ03 - Select Environment u2013 Select Standard Area - Enter -- If new user group is to be created, enter name of the user group, click on create and enter necessary information and exit after saving
TC SQ02 - Enter name of the Infoset u2013 Create u2013 enter name of Infoset - Data source -- > Table join by basis table u2013 give name of table e.g pa0000 - Enter - Click on insert table if we want to include more tables u2013 give name of table one by one and after finishing, place cursor on the joining lines and right click to delete unwanted relationships - check - and go back - field groups - include all table fields - click on generate button - go out
TC SQ03 - Select user group - eg. Payroll
Infoset - Enter name of newly created Infoset
Assign users and Infosets - Assign infosets - put tick on payroll - save and go back
TC PAAH - Expand the nodes and put tick on relevant fields depending upon necessity
Save the query by giving the same name as infoset for easyness..

I need to create a Generic Data Source out of a table called VBSEGK... I was trying in the usual way with RSO2 , but when I press save button after entering the Table name the following error is coming:
" Invalid Extract Stucture Template VBSEGK of Data Source ZPARK_01"
and when I click on the error message its showing
Diagnosis
You tried to generate an extract structure with the template structure VBSEGK. This operation failed, because the template structure quantity fields or currency fields, for example, field DMBTR refer to a different table.
Procedure
Use the template structure to create a view or DDIC structure that does not contain the inadmissable fields.
VBSEGK is a standard table , so I cant change the Table structure. Can any one give me some idea of how to create Data source with this table ASAP ASAP please....

Reason and Prerequisites
The problem is caused by a program error.
Solution
The table or view used for extraction must have currency and unit fields within the field list of the table/view for all currency and quantity key figures.Otherwise the consistency of the extracted data cannot be ensured.To make the generation possible, check whether all key figures of your table refer to unit fields that are within the field list.If this is not the case, there are two possibilities:
1. A table is used for extraction.
Create a view in which you have a currency / unit field contained in the view for each key figure. The currency / unit field from the table must be included in the view to which the key figure actually refers.
Example:
Field WKGBTR of table COEP refers to the unit field WAERS of table TKA01. In a view that contains field COEP-WKGBTR, table TKA01 and field WAERS must be included in the field list.
If the currency or the unit a key figure refers to is not located in a table but in a structure, the key figure has to be removed from the view and read via a customer exit (see below). Structures cannot be included in a view.
ATTENTION!! Often the key of the table in which the referenced unit is located, does not agree with the key in the table with the corresponding key figure. In this case, the join condition of both tables is not unique in the view definition, that means for each key line of the table with the key figure, several lines of the table with the unit may be read: the result is a multiplying of the number of lines in the view by a factor corresponding to the number of lines that fit the key figure, in the unit table. To be able to deliver consistent data to a BW system, check whether the unit of the key figure in question should always have a fixed value. If yes then you can determine that in the view definition via 'GoTo -> Selection conditions'. If no, then you must proceed as follows:
a) Remove the key figure from the view
b) Define the DataSource
c) Enhance the extract structure by key figure and unit for each append (Transaction RSA6)
d) Add the key figure and the unit in a customer exit
2. A view is already used for the extraction
If it is not possible to obtain a unit of measure from a table on which the view is based, the unit field must be deleted from the field list.
A note in relation to the upward compatibility of BW-BCT InfoSources: BW-BCT 1.2B was not yet able to check units and currency fields. For this reason, it is possible that InfoSources which were defined in the source system as of BW-BCT 1.2B must be redefined as of 2000.1 in the manner described above. However, checks are absolutely essential for the consistency of the extracted data.

Generic Data Source and InfoPackage Data Selection
Hello, I'm trying to extract data from a generic data source (composed of a view joining 4 tables) using the Data Selection Criteria in an infopackage. Sometimes the selection criteria is ignored and more data is pulled than expected. The number of selectable items in the generic data source has been reduced (in case this was an issue) and for a short time the infopackaged pulled the expected number of records. Then another change was made to the generic data source and the problem returned. In any case, the transported generic data source does not work in the target system either. I'm not sure what is causing this to happen. Any ideas??? BW 3.5.

Some of the datasources will not have default Infopackages for them.You can create the infopackages according to the requirement.There is no big deal for creating Infopackages.You can go ahead creating them.

Problem with native SQL cursor in generic data source

I am implementing generic data source based on FM.
Because of complicated SQL I canu2019t use Open SQL and RSAX_BIW_GET_DATA_SIMPLE-example u201Cas isu201D.
So, I have to use Native SQL. But Iu2019ve got a problem with a cursor. When I test my data source in RSA3, everything is Ok. But, if I start appropriate info-package, I get error u201CABAP/4 processor: DBIF_DSQL2_INVALID_CURSORu201D. It happens after selecting of 1st data package in line u201CFETCH NEXT S1 INTOu2026u201D. It seems to me that when system performs the second call of my FM the opened cursor has already been disappeared.
Did anyone do things like this and what is incorrect?

I don't think this SQL is very valuable It is just an aggregation with some custom rules. This aggregation is performing on info-provider which consists of two info-cubes. Here we have about 2 billion records in info-provider and about 30 million records in custom db-table Z_TMP (certainly, it has indexes). I have to do this operation on 21 info-providers like this and I have to do this 20 times for each info-provider (with different values of host-variable p_GROUP)

Problem during extraction using generic data sources
Hi
While performing extraction(master data) using generic data sources I am getting a problem.
while selecting application component, I am unable to find SD to select it.What should I do?
I selected CRM as application component and did the extraction , it is successful.
But what about if we want to select SD? I am guessing it as an installation problem ... Anyone plz help me

Looks like the RFC connection between source system and BW system is broken..
Contact your basis team to check the connection what went wrong.
once the connection is re-established you can gohead ...
Try out this procedure
Type Transaction SM59.
a.) Open the RFC Destinations.
b.) Find your Source System and double click on it.
c.) Technical setting should contain information regarding your source
system
d.) Logon Information should contain source system client and name &
password for you remote logon.
**Suggestion : our remote name for our R/3 was ALEREMOTE. We use
BWREMOTE so that we can monitor without confusion.
e.) Execute your 'Test Connection' & 'Remote Logon'. You connection
should be You should NOT be prompted for a password.
f.) Repeat above to verify RFCs for other systems

Update types in infopackage for generic data source
Hi,
Suppose if we create a generic data source,then
1) What are update types availbale in infopackage for tha generic t data source?
2) Is there any link between,the selection on the
i) type delta type select
ii) the field selected i.e like timestamp,cal month,numeric pointer.
3)do we have delaa option at info package level?

yes our's is bi 7.0.but there are two DTP with the same optoion of DELTA.It pull the data from ds to info cube.
one more thing,how are the delta records picked from the r/3 to bw?its through Infopackage Am i right?
If possible please tell me the entire flow of data goes for a generic data source.
i.e
how to load data?
how to set delta?
how do we load deltas to bw.?

1. Created s structure with the fields that needed.
2. Created FM by copying the standard Function module
" RSAX_BIW_GET_DATA_SIMPLE " and Give a New name starting With

thanx for ur reply we have created the funcion module successfuly it is also showing the output correct. But when we put that function module in the generic data source and try to extract data in RSA3 it shows the correct output of function module but with the msg ' 0 entries found in customer enhancement' and therfore zero records in the display list.
is there any correction or steps to be followed in data extraction

Generic Data Source Creation (Very Urgent)

I am getting errors while i am creating Generic Data source using Table "ECMCT" .This table contains all fields which is required for my Data Source.
---> I gave <b>ECMCT</b> table in "Extraction from DB view " but when i click save its showing error message "INVALID EXTRACT STRUCTURE TEMPLATE ECMCT OF DATASOURCE ZFI_ECMCT(is name of my data source)".
> I created Function Module using this Table.
In Function Module "Tables tab"
i gave "ITAB LIKE ECMCT".
In "Source Code tab"
i gave "SELECT * FROM ECMCT INTO TABLE ITAB".
In RSO2 "Extraction Using Function Module"
i gave FM name and Extract Structure name as ECMCT. After clicking save its showing ERRORS:
1) ZFI_ECMCT(is my data source name) : Tables parameter E_T_DATA for Extractor ZFI_CONSOLIDATION(is my Function module)
2) Units field CURR1 for feild HSLVT of datasource ZFI_ECMCT is hidden.
3) ......................................HSL01.....................................................
4)........................................HSL02...................................................
;etc.
Could u anybody suggest me where i am doing wrong. This is very very urgent for me.

For " Extraction Using Table" the system does not create an extract structure automatically if the Amount field (type CURR) and currency key field (type CUKY ) are in different tables . Hence u create a View of the data table and the reference table (Say PA0002 and T001) wherein, include all the fields from PA0002 and just the referenced fields from T001 so that all the fields come under the view.
But if the above solution is not possible say for ex. if the key fields don't match , then u should go for function modules.

I have asked R/3 team to provide me the details.
They said the below points.
1.Data source is built using only one single table.
2.Delta check mark is set in RS02.
But i have one small doubt,
As of now we are checking the data source extraction in RSA3 , using the update mode " F" .It is extracting .
But
1. Can i check the Inti functionality in RSA3 using the Update mode "c"(Initiliastion of Delta transfer).?
2. Can i change the update mode in RSA3 in case of generic data source? -
Error while doing DELTA Extraction (generic data source)

In my R/3, I have a generic data source ZBUT_VW.
It receives data from a View which is created based on couple tables.
When I do full load to the corresponding ODS, it is successful.
But after that I delete the ODS and created CUBE with DELTA
I have Initialized delta.
When I do DELTA extraction, it fails.
The error The ALE inbox of the SAP BW is identical to the ALE outbox of the source system
and/or
the maximum wait time for this request has not yet run out
and/or
the batch job in the source system has not yet ended.
I delete the initialization load and trying to do DELTA extraction again and it Fails.
With the same error
Please let me know how can I resolve this problem.

gauravI dont think it is possible to have to additive delta with creation date.
Try a full load to cube to check if the extractor is working. -
BW Master data delta generic data source for further update in BW
Hi BWers,
I am looking for an option to load delta from Master data to another master data within BW. Export data source option for master data only has full load option but no delta update possible.
I tried creating generic data source delta enabled on view of master data (/BI/M). But the problem I am facing now is master data contains quantity field as attribute and this field refers another table RSDKYF for unit. To be able to create data source on view / table no field should refer field in another table.
Did anybody create delta for master data for further loading within BW or came across similar issue with key figures, please let me know the best procedure in this scenario? Appreciate your quick response.

MadhavIn your master data attribute have a date field which will be filled by the R/3 load as sy-datum - then create an export datasource and in the infopackage - give a selectoion for the date field as sy-datum and sy-datum -1..
Not exactly a delta but then usually master data is not kept as delta because the volumes are usually less - you can achieve delta by this method... -
Generic Data Source is calling multiple times in RSA3

I have the requirement to get data from Generic Data Sources with function Module,
after finishing the FM I have checked in extact checker(RSA)
in the internal table I_T_DATA is displays 281 records,
but in RSA3 it shows 112560 records, I found that the FM is calling multiple time by executing one time in RSA3.
1.what would be the problem
2.where is the porblem is it in FM coding or any other places to check.

I don't understand clearly from your reply regarding flow you transported and what all you transported.
You need to first transport objects in R/3 and import them.
Then transport Infoprovider, Datasource in BI assuming depenedent Infoare Infoobject, application component already transported.
Then transport your Infosource, Update rule, Transfer rules, Infopackage.

Replication of generic Data Sources
Dear experts,
I am asked to create a generic data source in the Application component Specific to a set of Generic data sources.
To meet this in RSA6 I have created a node with XXXXX name of Appication component.
Now I have created my generic data source in RSO2 with this XXXXX Application Component and the data source creation is successful in the source system ( So, In RSA6 I see my data source under my newly created Apllication Component XXXXX)
Now when I try to replicate my data source in the BW system:
I do not see my ApPlication Component in my source system tab.
Also I tried replication of the data source at source system level.
I am unable to replicate my data source.
Is there anything else I need to do to see my XXXXX application component in the BW system and to replicate my data source.
Could anyone please help me how can I do my replication.

you did't specify which source your extractiing the data from, you should find it inthe specified folder, for example if your SD data you could see it in the underlying folder of SD, check it once under SD, MM components or still if you do not find , refreash the window, come back to DWB(RSA1) and then go to specified folder/Appl Comp,
when you replicate datasource some times you could't see it untill unless you refreash the window, if you still do'nt find it replicate again the datasource
here is the step for replication
1.first install wat r the cubes u want.
2.go to data source.right clik the data source.
3. it will show replicate the data.
4. replicate the data.
5. before u use rsa3 and check whether that data source having the data or not.
6.use rsa5 and check the data source activated or not.
7.create infopackage.
8. upload the data.
