[Developer Insight needed] Rotation Settings File ...

Here we go, I have a N8 and an E7 and when disabling the rotation sensor, on my N8 the whole UI gets locked to portrait orientation. This is extremely annoying for sleeping screen and caller screen in my car, when the N8 is oriented the way the E7 is when landscape with the keyboard slided out.
I need to know, wether it is because of some hardware setting in the sensor that I cannot have the N8 in landscape locked or if it is some file that is different on E7 than on N8 and where it is located so I can mod it.
This makes no sense to the enduser and needs to be fixed. Give us the possibility to have lockscreen, sleeping screen and caller screen in landscape as well. The UX is already working for it, I have seen it on a C6-01 sporting S^3 where it stayed in landscape due to a bug.
So what's this all about?

The installer starts up, says "analyzing dependencies" and "preparing to install" then just stops. I'm scratching my head here. This batch script seems to begin the installation (or at least it gets further along in the installation process than my previous attempts), then just craps out. It even creates the C:\orawin6i home directory that I want, and adds some files to it before quitting.
Is there an order in which the components must be installed to work? Are there files upon which the proper installation is dependant? Do you have any other ideas?

The quiz review button is inconsistent - sometimes it shows the ticks and crosses other times it doesn't - did you find a solution? I'd dearly like to be able to tidy up the ticks!

No, there isn't. The way you're using the file is not recommended. You
should use a review tracker to avoid getting in the way of one another.

I am facing a performance issue with the Annoration Service.
The size of the C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Adobe\Acrobat\8.0\Collab\Workflows is increasing by 14 KB whenever I use the service to Annotate PDF Documents.THis happens at all my client machines.
What is the need of this file in the context?
Can we do something to restrict the inflation of this particular file?
Can anybody help me to understand the process behind this?

There aren't any ports in common between both Macs except the USB, that can't be used to connect both Macs. The easiest solution is to connect both Macs with a FireWire 800 cable and get the Thunderbolt to FireWire adapter, which you will have to connect into one of the Thunderbolt ports of the 2013 iMac.
Then, to transfer files to the 2013 iMac, you have to put the 2009 iMac in Target Disk Mode, so start it holding the T key, and you will see the FireWire icon on the screen. Now, the 2013 iMac is detecting the hard disk of the 2009 iMac as an external disk, so open a Finder window and select it, under "Devices", and you will be able to transfer the data you want to your 2013 iMac.
If you have to transfer applications and settings, too, I recommend you to use Migration Assistant with both Macs connected with the FireWire cable, too > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4889

I have received a pdf file of many pages in landscape orientation that need to be saved in portrait orientation. I know how to rotate the file, but how can I save the rotated document?

Unfortunately this does not work with Adobe Reader, but with Adobe Acrobat or similar programs (Google could be your friend ) BUT you could try Acrobat free for 30 days, if you'd like. See www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html for more information.

903 management of app / out / err logs to rotating log files??

I'm deploying BC4J apps under OC4J.
One of my complaints about the production environment is that the noisy logging from
BC4J is directed to a static file name by the shell startup script. This not enterprise nor
manageable in a 24x7 environment since the log file grows boundlessly.
It was mentioned that 903 OC4J would fix log mangement. I've not seen anymention in doc's.
Might someone offer how -out and -err logs can be better managed in 903?

It was suggested that 903 OC4J will support rotating log files?
Is this true and any help or doc pointers would be great.
BTW, I'm moving to 903 enterprise with OEM.

Samsung SCH-LC11 edit settings file

Does anyone know how to edit the settings file on a Samsung SCH-LC11. Specifically I want to allow it to still operate as a hotspot while charging.
I've seen a post on Cnet for a different Samsung hotspot for this. When I export the settings file on the SCH-LC11 it is not readable in notepad. What program do I need to read the file?
Any help would be appreciated.

The LC11 hotspot can be used while charging. Simply, turn it on and connect your wi-fi enabled devices. Once connected, you can plug the hotspot to the charge and the charger to a wall socket. Voila! If you have any additional questions then don't hesitate to reply to this message. ^AH

Go through the attached Publishing Companion Guide. You need to create Mobile Provisioning files using Apple iOS provisioning Portal. The guide gives you step by step information on creating these.

Where do I find the Camera Raw settings file?

I've been running Creative Suite 3 on a MacBook Pro. I just bought a Mac Pro so got my disks off the shelf to install on the new machine. That's when I found I have to deactive the programmes on the laptop in order to install them on the tower. (Which strikes me as outrageously restrictive. How many people work on a tower at home and a laptop for the road?)
Having gone throught the deactivation/activation process, I opened Photoshop to process some NEF files, and then remembered that my Camera Raw settings were somewhere on the laptop - but where ??? I assume there must be a file somewhere, but have not so far been able to find it.
Any ideas gratefully received.

By "Camera Raw Settings file", I take it that you are looking for the develop settings for each raw file. These settings can be stored in two ways. The first and most common method is to store them as sidecar *.xmp files in the same directory as the NEFs. The other method is to store them in a centrally located Camera Raw database. One can change these methods via the Edit Preferences menu of either Photoshop or Camera Raw. Further information is here:

LMS3.2.1 - should my custom log rotation settings override log4j properties?

For LMS 3.2.1 on Windows, I have configured log rotation settings for dcmaservice.log but the settings are ineffective, even after stop/start CW daemon manager. Other posts on this forum state that dcmaservice.log rotation is managed by log4j but can also be configured in logrot. Is this incorrect or have I encountered a bug in logrot?

1) does log4j subsystem manage dcmaservice.log?
2) if so, is there a log4j properties file for dcmaservice which can be edited to change log file size and number of versions to keep (eg. see the forum entry https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/664225#664225 re license.log)?
3) can Common Services user-configurable log rotation override the parameters for logs managed by log4j subsystem?

Storing a settings file

I want to eventually distribute my application as an executable JAR, but I need to include some files. I've managed to include images (for toolbars etc), but I'm having problems writing a settings file. Is it best to store the settings file inside the JAR itself or in a system directory such as %windir% or %appdata%?

Yip, you need to store settings to the user's home directory/application_settings/{your app name}.
As a bonus you should include a tools/options where this can be changed.
As an aside, checkout (one-jar on sourceforge), pretty useful for packing an app into a single distributable if you are relying on say log4j for logging.

Rotate swf files

Hi. i need to rotate swf files. I have a movie that displays
logos. Currently, there are 29. We will wind up with about 140. I
would like to beak it down so the viewer doesn't see the same logos
over and over. I was thinking of 7 logos per movie, 20 movies in
all. I'm not that much of a programmer. So, I need some help. I
think I need to randomize which movies are displayed? When I google
this question, I get PHP solutions which I can't use. Is there a
javascript solution that will call the an individual movie? Or do I
make a larger .swf file and use actionscript to call the movie to

I would use one Flash document with all of the logos
(assuming they're vector and small in size) in the library. Then
use a random number generator to pull them out of the library. That
way you don't have to keep track of where all the logos are.
Place all of the logos in one flash document. Make them all
symbols (movieClips) and take them off the stage. In the library,
right click on each one and choose "Linkage". Click "Export for
ActionScript" and give it a name like "logo1". Repeat this process
with a couple more to get the idea and add a number (logo2, logo3,
ect).
Now use the actionscript below to bring one to the stage.

Highlight "attachMovie" and right click, choose Help to see
what this line means. This will pop up a movie from your library
essentially. The first thing in the parentheses is the name you
gave the logo in the linkage window "logo1".
Now you want to create a random number generator to pull up
random logos.
Delete the actionscript you just placed and replace it with
this one:
var rndNum:Number = Math.round(Math.random()*20);
this.attachMovie("circle"+rndNum, "logo1_mc",
this.getNextHighestDepth(), {_x:100, _y:100});
You'll see the first line creates a random number between 0
and 20 and rounds it to a whole number and attaches it to a
variable called "rndNum". We then on the attachMovie line removed
the number from "circle1" and added the variable. Now everytime you
run the script, it will randomly pull up any logo you name from
"logo0" to "logo20".
