Developer Vs Programmer Vs Engineer

I wondered if anyone would know a precise difference between a developer, a programmer and a software engineer.

  • I would like Adobe to develop a programme that sits between Lightroom and CS6

    I have Lightroom 1, 2, 3 & 4 (which I can't use at the moment because it is too slow) I also have CS3.
I am an enthusiastic amatuer and don't need the catalogue facility in Lightroom (which can be exasperating at times) and I don't need 90% of the stuff on CS6 as I do most of my editing in Adobe Camera Raw.
I would like to see Adobe develop a programme that sits between Lightroom and CS6 where the Lightroom  layout is kept much the same only instead of a catalogue have a browser in its place, I would also like to see the clone tool & the healing brush replaced with proper ones that work like the ones in CS6, I would also like to see an adjustment brush with a facility to invert my selection or some sort of masking, these are the tools I use most often in photoshop.
Does anyone feel the same as me and if so how do we contact Adobe to let them know.

I think it is extremely presumptuous of you Mr. Hess, to confuse honest, friendly advice with an attempt to "dictate" how someone should handle their workflow ... my comment was offered as advice ... I was not handing down an edict to force anyone to do anything ....
It's one thing to bury your head in the sand and ignore sound advice ... it's quite another to accuse others of forcing their will on someone ... just because you had a bad experience about discussing another feature in another thread ...
I could really care less if you, the OP or anyone else doesn't adopt a sound DAM solution ... I don't have to work with your images ... but if I did, you can be assured they would be properly cataloged even if you didn't see the value in the process ...

  • Does SQL Developer Data Modeler fit-in??

    Hi Everyone,
Wish you happy new year 2011.
Does SQL Developer Data Modeler support conceptual, logical and physical in our modeling or only logical and physical?
We all use Erwin for modeling. Erwin works without database repository storing models in desktop folders and provide additional reporting. I find some place SQL Developer Data Modeler talked about repository need.
Does SQL Developer Data Modeler store the models in local/network folders instead of Database server?
What are the functions need database based repository to work with SQL Developer Data Modeler?
We are thinking of using SQL Developer Data Modeler for our conceptual, Logical, and data dictionary need. Will it help in our need?
Do we need to face any surprises on using SQL Developer Data Modeler for our need?
Thanks in sharing your experience and helping me out.
    RI

    1) Do we need to have Oracle database at back end to work with SQL Developer Data Modeler? No, Data Modeler use Oracle database only if you create reporting repository.
Data Modeler is free, you need database license only if you want to log service request
    2) Will SQL Developer Data Modeler create any tables (as backend repository ) in Oracle database to store Model details? no
    3) Do we need to create reporting schema in backend oracle database to generate reports of SQL Developer Data Modeler's items such as Entity/attributes etc?no, reports can be created out of current loaded design. However having reporting repository will give you additional benefits - history (reports can be generated for every snapshot of your designs there) and multi-user usage, you can create your own reports
    4) Do we to use SQL Developer Data Modeler reverse engineer from DB2, SqlServer, Terra data etc?Data Modeler has full support for Oracle, DB2/390, DB2/UDB(LUW) and MS SQL Server. Reverse engineering from other databases (including Terra Data) is at generic JDBC level - you'll get some and some will be missing (no check constraints for example).
You can read release notes http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/datamodeler/ea2-releasenotes-185793.html

  • Check Name length of Development Objects

Hallo I`d would like to develop a programm that checks if the name of a Development Object does fit to the Length restriction of ABAP. Are there any useful Functions / Methods ??
    e.g.
the function: DD_CHECK_NAME does this implicit .... (using function: DD_TABL_CHK_SAANORM)
but this works only for DDIC-Objects not for Classes / Reports etc ...
furthermore these Functions are not enabled for external usage ...
    any hint ??
Edited by: Peter Burgard on Sep 12, 2011 11:04 AM

    Hi ,
I`d would like to develop a programm that checks if the name of a Development Object does fit to the Length restriction of ABAP
SAP will not allow only to  give name  more than  its restricted  Limit for each Development Object   .
so  there no question of check from urside  " SAP does that  in Standard  .
ONly  in Case there is less than the limit  and You want to know the  length   then you can do it   using
simple logic of  DESCRIBE SYNTAX .
    regards
    Deepak

  • Electrical Engineer with automated test experience looking for job in San Antonio Area

I am an Electrical Engineer with 33 years of experience. Much of my experience involves computer programming with an emphasis on electrical systems, either controlling equipment or automated testing. I have experience in numerous languages, most recently LabView, LabWindows/CVI, and TestStand, but also including 'C', Visual Basic, FORTRAN, and Z80 assembler. I have most recently worked in the MS Windows environment, but I have worked in the UNIX environment as well.
In addition to programming I have done some hardware design and equipment specification. I have done drafting of schematics in Visio, but I also have some experience with AutoCAD. I have written user's manuals and done hardware/software integration. I feel I have a broad range of experience in many areas of engineering and programming. I also feel that my engineering background helps be to understand the needs of the customer and thus be better able to translate those needs into the control or test program they need.
I currently live in San Antonio, Texas and am looking for a job in this area. A job on the south side of Austin might be considered if I could tele-commute or work in my home with occasional trips, eg. weekly, to Austin.

I would like to speak to you about your current work situation and the type of position you may be seeking. Currently, I am looking to hire experienced LabView programmers/Project engineers for a long-term opportunity. The following is a brief job description:
    LabView Programmer/Project Engineer
    Albuquerque, New Mexico
The company follows the industry with LabVIEW coding techniques. Using standards as old as VXI Plug-n-Play and as new as the parallel loop Event Structure / QueuedState Machine. This code is used as the centerpiece for Test & Measurement systems that span most industries including military/aerospace, biomedical, semiconductor, automotive and telecom.
Candidate will handle LabView integration projects from beginning to end. Will work closely with customers to understand requirements, participate in bid process, manage timelines on projects, perform LabView programming, and handle customer questions and concerns. The position requires 60% programming, 20% hardware design and test, 20% customer interface and project management. Prefer candidates with 7 to 10 years of LabView programming experience.
Ability to get a DoD security clearance required.

  • Icon "SEARCH" in in-house development

    Hello community,
    i have a question.
I have here in a system a in-house development with own Transaction Code etc.
When i open the Transaction i see the Buttons (Print / Search etc)
But the Button search is inactiv.
I dont know who developed this Programm. And the only thing i need is to acivate the "SEARCH" Button in this Transaction.
I know the package in the SE80
Is it simple to activate the search Button? Can you tell me how this works?
Or did i have to find the developer?
    Thanks
    Bjoern

    Hi ,
If you are working on custom object , its quite easy .
You have to specify the Function key for "Search" button in the GUI status of the program.
My be you can take help of some developer for the same.

  • PM3 programmer communication without command line EXE

    Hello All,
We are using a PM3 programmer for ICSP in our ATE by using the command line option provided by Microchip. We could succesfully solve the task using USB communication.
But, to reduce some more command line execution time, instead of command line option we are planning to communicate with the PM3 directly by using the protocol details supplied by Microchip
To reduce our development time, we want to use the already developed PM3 programmer protocol interface driver VIs, if available .
If any of you have tried this option earlier, pls provide your suggestions.
    thanks.
    Krishna

    Krishna,
I'm afraid I don't have any experience in that area, so I can't be of much help.  However, there is some discussion in the thread
How can I control PIC programmer with LabVIEW which you may find helpful.
