Development  activities of SAP JAVA

Can any one tell me some example applications developed using the JAVA stack of WEBAS.
I am confused on DTR, CMS, CBS and Tracks  what are all these
Also i would like to know if anyone can draw a comparison between CMS and CTS (ABAP)
Also how easy is it for a person who worked with BASIS ABAP landscape to pick up activiities on the
JAVA  landscape.
full points guaranteed -

Hi,
CMS -->  Change Management Service (CMS) is part of SAP NetWeaver Development Infrastructure (NWDI). It is used to configure development landscapes and transport software changes for JAVaA projects
CTS is the similart concept in the ABAP system. You can organize, perform, and monitor transports between your SAP Systems using the Transport Management System (TMS).
All information about NWDI can be found  @ SAP NetWeaver Development Infrastructure (NWDI)

  • Which tasks required for a Developer in a SAP project with SAP XI?

    Dear all,
I'm a ABAPer (Developer too), i will join into a SAP development and maintenance project that use the SAP XI. In order to prepare for this project, now i should determine and  study the "Specific Skills/Tasks required" for a ABAPer (Developer too) in development and maintenance project with SAP XI technology platform. I see in our forum with thread:
    Roles for XI Programmer
that: A developer will take care of "Mapping Task" with "ABAP Mapping" or "JAVA Mapping".
If any person who participated in a project as same as my project (a SAP development and maintenance project with SAP XI platform), please help me to answer my question:
    My question:
"Which other tasks required for a Developer in a SAP development and maintenance project with SAP XI platform (exclude Mapping Task)?"
Thanks a lot to all in advance (points will be rewarded for every valuable answers),

  • What is the best way to learn SAP Java

    Hi,
I would like to understand basic principles of SAP Java, to check how it is working, primarily J2EE components like JMS, WS, EJB, Persistence... As I'm ABAP and PI consultant, I see this as my next step, sure I'm not aiming to be experienced Java developer beacuse this would require much more time than I have now.
So far I read "Foundations of Java for ABAP Programmers" but I think that this is just a begining. I want to learn more stuff about SAP J2EE    and J2SE is for me, let say, clear.
Also I start reading "Java Programming With The Sap Web Application Server" as my next book about SAP Java, but it is not quite that I don't like this book, it is somehow not interested for me.
So I would like to hear your suggestions what is the best way or the best approach to learn SAP Java. I see this as future help for one ABAP and PI consultant. Also I've done some Mapping developments for PI (SAX and DOM parser), so really think for me to know Java better it will be "bigger plus" for me.

I will suggest you SAP Elearning section on SDN about Java Development.
    Below is the link....
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/java-elearning?dprpp=all
It contains lot of practical examples which will keep you interested as well..
But you wil lhave to be very selective there on whaich topic you wish to kick start.........
For example there is one called :
    Java for ABAP Programmers
    ABAP Objects for Java Developers
SAP Java World for ABAP Programmers

  • Regarding how to configurate the sap java server environment

I've got started to develop java application using webdynpro for java, and the development environment is sap netweaver composition environment 7.1 sr3-trial version java ee only ,   but I have a little trouble about how to configurate the environment for connection with sap and what server configuration is necessary for java development.

    Hi,
If you want to connect to a SAP back end create a JCo using the NWA. Usage: http://<host>:<port>/nwa
Once this is done you can import RFC and start accessing bacckend.
If you need to deploy this application to a SAP J2ee engine, you need to connect to the engine using
    Window->Preferences->SAP AS Java
Specify the instance host and instance number
Click on the register SAP instance button.
Make this as your default SAP System.

Marcos and Sri.. Thanks for the prompt response
I am experienced in both web and enterprise Java. From your posts and what I found in my research,I see Web DynPro is a good module to start with and I see Web DynPro,being a web UI module, is a part of SAP EP.
I need further assistance with the following
    1. I need SAP access to practice Web DynPro.I wanna know how to setup Dev environment and where to get the software for educational/learning purpose..links will be helpful..
do I need to buy a remote SAP Netweaver server as well..Right pointers will be appreciated..
    2. When I checked teh SAP site, their training catalog mentions the following modules relating to Java.I am using these just as a ref. for what to learn. Seems like 3,4,5 below are more relevant to Java.Seems like Web DynPro is the first one to start coz I see it most prevalently appearing in job posts as well.
I am in Maryland,USA..I did not find any SAP labs near by in east coast.Being new, I am not sure whom to approach for training..googling does not help much .or in general do you suggest any training resources relating to the following SAP training catalog.

    Hi,
You are about to follow the path which every Java developer in SAP goes through.
Broadly , Java is used wherever there are web based intefaces forming the UI layer over the SAP module.
SAP CRM module is one them. It covers ISA, B2B BD apllications that utilise a lot of java coding and language to design the UI screens and jsp using the struts framework.
Since you are a technical guy, I would suggest you to start learning about ,
    1. NWDS - Netweaver Development Studio, a IDE to build and run java applications. ( Though it does a lot more than this)
         http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce10/helpdata/en/ae/f0b1ee32a040d98b111915b23fb66e/frameset.htm
         http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce10/helpdata/en/ae/f0b1ee32a040d98b111915b23fb66e/content.htm
    2. Core CRM applications -ISA and Webshop. ( Its internet sales where Java has an edge)
       http://help.sap.com/saphelp_crm40/helpdata/en/72/7681532ca9d3119b4c0060b0671acc/content.htm
       http://www.sap.com/solutions/business-suite/crm/internetsales/featuresfunctions/index.epx
    3. SAP Java connector  - Required at all places where your java programs wants to "talk" with SAP.
         http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/6f/1bd5c6a85b11d6b28500508b5d5211/content.htm
There lot more in store - IPC( Internet Pricing module, used in ISA), Java Web Dynpro , Enterprise Portal, little bit of ABAP programming ( you need to learn it to have a deeper understanding)  etc
    Wish you luck n success.

  • Our business require to download & install SAP Java GUI 720. Able to download it but not to install due to "security preferences" restriction. Any suggestion?

GE Energy requires us to use SAP for business. I downloaded the SAP Java GUI 720, can see it in the download window. But once I try to install it, the following message is shown: "SAP Java GUI 720 MacOSX.JAR” can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer. Your security preferences allow installation of only apps from the Mac App Store and identified developers."
Please let me know if there is a way to change the security settings in order to install SAP on MacBook Air.

    Hello,
To change the security settings go to:
'''System Preferences''' >''' Security & Privacy'''.
On the '''General Tab''' click the '''little lock''' in the lower left corner to '''unlock the general preference pane'''. Then select the ''''Anywhere'''' radio button beneath "'''Allow applications downloaded from'''" then confirm.
If you need more assistance just ask for it :)
    Sincerly,
    Black Thunder.

  • SAP-Java Naming Conventions?

    Hello!
ABAP-Programmers should use Z-Namespace for their own ABAP-programms.
Is it necessary to take notice of any special "SAP Java rules" for writing or deploying Java programms?
    regards
    Harald.

    Hi Harald,
there is no such equivalent rule in the Java SAP world. Just don't use com.sap or more general com.sap* (for instance: com.sapportals.) as package starting name or deploy names (for instance, in the portal environment, don't name the PARs com.sap).
    Hope it helps

  • When will SAP Java AS for EE 6 see the light?

    Hi all,
As far as I know, SAP's bleeding edge AS (NW73 AS) is based on EE5.
As several java AS vendors are releasing EE6 compliant products, I would like to know whether any deadline has been set for SAP's EE6 app server release.
    Thanks in advance
    regards
    Vincenzo

    Hi Rolf,
there has been a lot of discussion around the question whether the on premise NetWeaver
Application Server for Java will support the Java EE 6 standard! I have joined this discussion just
recently meaning I have not studied all the discussion threads. Some citations go back several years, others are new.
With respect to roadmap statements SAP has clearly formulated rules of communication and established clear templates that indicate the current feature set (“Solution Today”), the “planned innovations” for the next 12 months roughly (for on premise deliveries) and the future direction. The section on “planned innovations” is the one which is closely related to the current backlog of the development teams in terms of feature delivery. No commitment is given as to whether the planned innovations will be delivered but under normal circumstances there is a good probability to have them in the next foreseeable enhancement packages or quarterly updates. The future direction is typically more a strategic level which is touched by our senior
management team and often communicated at TechEd keynotes for example.
Java EE 6 is not contained in the planned innovations for the on premise NetWeaver Application
Server Java. Customers get the roadmap information from SAP service marketplace and from roadmap Q&A sessions at TechEd.
We never communicated anything different. In multiple sessions and written content we
clearly communicated that innovation in on premise environments focuses on the ABAP stack while HANA Cloud Platform offers other languages including Java with support for
open standards adoption. We know that many of our customers are running AS Java based Portals, Process Integration hubs, BPM etc and we will fulfill our support commitments providing a solid foundation to run our Java based solutions. This causes a lot of significant investments
for our development support organization. For example we enabled the SAP Java VM for JDK1.4 since some customers still run Portals based on that standard. Likewise we currently look into several topics such as NetWeaver Developer Studio and newer JDKs.
But the JEE program model is not in scope here. The adoption of JEE as program model for
SAP applications, customer and partner extensions was always pretty limited (exceptions confirm the rule). We heavily pushed Web Dynpro Java, NWDI for several years etc (my team wrote a complete SAP Press book about it) but the market moved to other frameworks in the meantime. Again we fully maintain these frameworks and infrastructures including improvements to make our customers’ life easier (for example the development support is currently piloting an NWDI compliant infrastructure to supply notes, similar to SNOTE in ABAP).
Last but not least our senior management team clearly indicated the importance of cloud
based infrastructures for standards and open source adoption.
Since NetWeaver 7.3 embracing the Java EE5 was announced back in 2010 the shift towards HANA, cloud and mobile has been a recurring top level theme at all major SAP events and publications (trust me I attended all US and EMEA TechEds).
    Best regards
    Karl

  • When will SAP Java AS for EE 7 see the light? And NWDS on Eclipse 4.2?

    Hi,
since thread 2028916 When will SAP Java AS for EE 6 see the light? became too long and old - scrolling on mobile devices is a pain -  I decided to start a new thread to discuss the future of the SAP Java AS on premise platform in combination with the development tool NWDS.
Java EE 7 is general available for a year next week. It is difficult to get courses on Java EE 5 and books at the antiquarian bookshop. Eclipse 3.5 underneath NWDS is completely outdated already and out of support on Eclipse side. BPM, SAP's still emerging software, is only availble in this old tooling.
SAP's CTO Sikka left the company giving us the chance to discuss this topic beyond the time of HANA hype.
Hopefully this thread will begin with good news.
    Best regards
    Rolf

    Hello Steffen,
thank you for your input. Because of holiday a late answer.
You are absolutely right, and I am sure it is not only your personal opinion, but the simple truth.
NetWeaver Java's right to exist is only as platform for CE tools like PI and BPM engine.
And because SAP cut themselves off Java 7 and EE >=6 standard, even these tools will become outdated quickly. E.g. you run into trouble running current oData libraries on this platform. I cannot recommend anybody to use BPM in new projects - a tool that is running on Java 6 / EE 5 in 2014 and needs a strange and unneccessary concept of "Development Components" at design time.
If we knew what we know today in 2010, we would have abandoned the NW Java platform already and found a nice web frontend. But SAP kept stalling us, so now we have dozens of WD Java that want to be replaced.
What really is striking me at this topic is the hype of the al the important SAP people (mentors etc.) around "kiss of death of WD Java" that kept the social networks busy in 2010 as constrasted with the ignorance regarding the way more substantial decay of the complete SAP NetWeaver Java platform. Our customers and we as software developers could live for the next 10 years with a rock solid and "mature" UI framework like WD Java even without any enhancements, but we cannot bear complete stagnation in our business layer and the platform and development infrastrucure on the whole.
SAP NetWeaver Java is dead, "deader" than WD Java will ever be, but the important people do not even read the death notice. Probably they are out of town in the HANA cloud.
SAP neglected the house for a too long time, the house is decayed, it is too late for cosmetic repairs by SAP, we have to move out.
    Best regards
    Rolf

  • Configuring JCo3 Connection Pool with single sign on on non SAP Java server

    Hi Everyone,
i have configured a connection pool on JBoss as per JCo3 Documentation and is working great.
Now I need help to configure this connection pool with single sign on so that RFc on SAP ECC systems are executed using end users credential rather than using single user name password used to configure JCo connection pool.
On SAP Java stack I am sure its possible within Java WebDynpro    and i assume using JCA resource adapter. But what if we don't want to use SAP Java App server.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • SAP Java Connectivity Builder -NoClassDefFoundError com.sap.aii...Reference

    Hi there,
I'm trying to generate Java Proxies for SAPJCO using the SAP Java Connectivity Builder (JCB). I got it from the NetWeaver 6.20 Release. The tool installs and runs properly but after putting in the connection properties and klicking "next", the application hangs. When activating System output, I get the error shown below.
I already tried to put all jar files contained in the C:\JBuilder5\lib\ext directiry into the classpath (but none of them contains the class mentioned).
Which is the right (standalone) tool for generating Java Proxies for a standalone Java application?
If it is JCB, is there a bug on the version I use (NetWeaver Release 6.20)?

It looks like the JCE file which you have downloaded is not the correct one. As you can see some jar files are missing. Check JCE files.
Check SAP Note 1240081 - "Java Cryptography Extension Jurisdiction Policy" files
    Thanks

  • SSO to non-SAP java running on Websphere

    Hi,
I have an EP6 SP2 P5 and another java b2b app running on websphere app server and they are on different domains. I'm trying to figure out how to make sso to that app. There is  a guide on SDN written by Tim Mullé, Stephan Boecker "Enabling Single Sign-On from SAP J2EE Engine/EP to Non-SAP Java Applications" . I'm wondering if can make it work if I follow that guide and also the cross domain integration guide for sending cookies across domains?
    Regards
    Ahmet

The process described in the cross-domain document will be necessary in order to get the MYSAPSSO2 cookies to your non-SAP application. You cannot get your browser to send domain1.com cookies to a domain2.com server. Therefro it is necessary to provide an alternate pathway - in this case using http POST. Then the target of the POST on domain2 can handle the data and return a cookie in its own domain. At that point you can either create your own cookie for websphere to use, or you can simply re-issue the cookie in domain2.com. SAP provides some libraries that will enable the other application to validate the cookie.
