DFS Backlogs WAY too high on 1 of 10 servers

Hi,
We are using DFS to replicate between 10 different servers and one of them is getting crazy high backlogs (500,000+ backlogged). I have googled the issue and not found any solutions that would pertain to our issue. Hoping someone can help. Please see
description below.
10 servers all in the same datacenter on the same network. Only one of them is getting backlogged to the point it does nothing but play catch up. The servers are virtual servers. Most of them are on separate VM hosts. However a couple share the same host
including the one in question. However, when I check performance on the VM host it seems to be just fine. Plus of the two on this VM host only one is getting backlogged. I have done the calculations to set the Staging folder's Quota to a hair above what the
calculations recommend (I did this on all 10 servers to stay consistent). I have also edited the registry with the high performance settings as suggested by many sites online (I also did this on all 10 servers to remain consistent). However, the server still
remains backlogged. The only warnings in event viewer are Event ID 4202, 4204 and 4412. Which from what I have gathered is the server trying to catch up the backlogs. We do perform nightly backups. At which time DFS does stop while the backup takes place.
But if this was the issue I would think the other servers would also become backlogged.
Does anyone have any ideas for a possible solution to this? Has anyone else experienced this problem before? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

The bottleneck could be your SAN.
Did you pre-seed the servers before starting replication?
We do not have a SAN currently. One of the many things on the wish list.
No, I do not believe we pre-seeded them. We did pull the server out of the replication group to allow it to catch up at one point, but it just ends up backlogged again. So I'm not sure that pre-seeding would help at this point. Unless there is something
that I am missing about pre-seeding (which could be the case). If there is can you please explain?
Thanks for your help!

  • My bill is way too high

When I first signed up for Verizon I was quoted approximately $165.00 per month for my services.  For the past two months my bill is way too high.  I had Cox prior to verizon and my bill was much lower and I basically had the same services.  If my bill cannot get lower then what it is I will switch back to Cox.  Please look into this for me.
    Thank you,

  • Temps Way Too High

    Please help me! lol
I just built a new PC and the the processor is 3.2Ghz P4.
It has a Zalman 7000Al/Cu cooler and it hitting a much too high temperature!
The case has a front 80mm intake fan (not bringing air into the case as its blocked), a 80mm side fan bringing loadsa air into the case and then 2 x80mm fans extracting at the back. Plus the PSU has a 120mm fan over the CPU.
Now the problem is that at idle the cpu temp is about 45C but in game it rises steeply. When running 3DMark 2003 about half way it hit 65C. That is way too high.
Now the thing is that when I feel the zalman it is hardly even hot. So obviously isnt making good contacts. Am I right. If so how do i fix this.
I Did use artic silver III on the heatsink and a fine amount so that you could just read the writing on the CPU. What else can I do please? Shouldnt the heatsink be at least hot?
    Thanks. Answer quick!
    SAspaz

Ah, you seem to have the exact problem I only just got over.  I just upgraded my P4C 2.8Ghz's cooler from stock to a Zalman CNPS7000A-AlCu, and at first, I had temperature hell, getting temperatures like you are, but it seems I had just misapplied the thermal paste.  I'm using the included Zalman paste, and from the tests I've seen, AS3 is only just very very slightly better than it, I'm talking maybe half a degree C.
The way I eventually found to apply it which gave the best result was to put the usual slightly smaller than a grain of rice dollop of the paste right in the middle of the processor, then sit the cooler on top of that, and give it a bit of a twist side-to-side so that it mashes out the paste.  You can take a look underneath to make sure this has given a good spread, don't worry if it doesn't cover the whole heat spreader, it shouldn't, and in any case the core which you are cooling is only under a tiny part of that huge plate.  As long as it's a reasonable size spread, just go from there and install the cooler as normal, and you should find it works fine.  While this method of grease application seems to be against most of the guides I've read, it definitely works fine (I'm getting 29C idle, max 45C load, in a case with absolutely horrid ventilation), and is in fact the way Arctic Silver recommend.
So give that a try, it worked for me.
Oh, and on the whole temperature misreporting deal, while I'm pretty sure my CPU is measured fine, is there some kind of issue with the system temp readings?  I should check my BIOS version, but I'm just puzzled in that my system temp tends to read about 40C, which is way more than even my CPU.

  • Activity Monitor shows virtual memory usage is way too high

35 Gb of virtual memory for Safari, Mail, iTunes, Activity Monitor and all running processes!
Why these numbers are so high compared to Tiger? Can someone please explain? Is it a bug or something or is it the new way introduced with Leopard?
RAM and CPU usage looks fine though but this VM usage seems too high to me. I will run out of disk space after a couple of days of runtime. And the Adobe Creative Suite is not even running. Jeez...

    Thanks for the hint Niel.
The /private/var/vm folder is actually only 64 Mb. I can calm myself now...
(via Go menu in the Finder, select Go to Folder and type /private/var/vm to access it)
But why is Activity Monitor behaving like this in Leopard?

  • IPod Touch play count WAY too high

My 16GB 2G iPod Touch has a play count which is far too high. It is like 1500 for songs I have added today. Any way to solve this?
I have tried resetting the play counts, skip counts and restoring my iPod. No luck.

I'm having the same issue. I've got an iPod Touch 1G, fully updated. I'm seeing tracks that I've literally not played in weeks maybe even MONTHS come up with hundreds, and songs i've played maybe once or twice come up with thousands. I reset all the play counts to try again but it didn't make a difference, next thing i knew, a whole load of new tracks were up there in the thousands.
It's REALLY annoying, cause I've got a Most Played smart playlist, which doesn't really work in the first place as it doesn't update itself no matter how many times i plug my iPod into the computer, and even if it DID work, it wouldn't be very accurate, and I'd have a load of Janet Jackson interludes clogging up my most played, which gets annoying after a while, no matter how entertaining they are when they're part of the album!
    What can we do?!

  • PB temperatures way too high?

Recently my fans have been doing an absurd amount of work on my PB, even when nothing is running they kick up really loud and the computer becomes really hot. Its loud enough that I have to shut off the computer or put it to sleep when I want to sleep... I use it on a desk with nothing blocking any ventilation (this started recently even if i didnt change the way I use it)
I installed a widget to check temperatures which sometimes give me temperatures as high as these:
    CPU: ~60
    Battery: ~40
    GPU: ~65
    HD: ~45
Just by putting my palms on the keyboard (ie one hand on each side of the trackpad to type) i can feel the laptop is too hot, the bottom is even worse and i turn it off and move it because my desk gets warm!!
    Any suggestions?
(I'm currently using a friend's laptop cooler which is keeping the temperatures a little lower but it's very noisy and annoying)

    Hello,
I have too noticed that my powerbook becomes very hot while using it. What I invested in so I could use it in my lap or on the go heavily was a chill pad.
    http://img.epinions.com/images/opti/c7/8d/TARGUSTORNADO_NOTEBOOK_CHILL_MAT_PA248U-resized200.jpg
That actually kept my powerbook pretty cool for the most part. It actually pushes cold air onto the bottom of the powerbooks with the fans. Its actually not too loud as well. Its generally quiet and I hardly notice it unless I am in a completely silent room.

  • Audio level way too high after disc burn

    Hello!
I just burned my first test disc of a project and have come across a strange problem. The audio on all of my tracks has jumped to an extremely high (and unacceptable) level. It is well above the level set in FCP and even what plays when simulating the disc from within DVDSP. The ac3 files out of compressor seem to be fine. In fact, everything seems okay until the actual burn. When playing the disc in DVD Player, it's so loud that in many places there is actual peaking. Is there a setting I'm missing, maybe? I tried searching, but didn't find anything like this.
    Any ideas?

    Hey Drew,
Gotcha, I just realized it must be fixing something with markers. I haven't had a problem with that yet though, fortunately. I've been exporting directly out of FCP using Compressor, so there's no intermediate file. Like I said, the encoded ac3 sounds perfect, so it seems like it's something happening in DVDSP. Do you know of anything in that program that might have caused this? If it makes any difference, I burned the disc by simply hitting the "burn" button rather than building. Could that cause this sort of thing?

  • Ipod touch play counts way too high

Yep, another one. Apple going to do anything about it yet? Had my Ipod Touch 64gb for a week, there's no way I listened to Happy Birthday by the Birthday Massacre 64 times. haven't tried to make a smart playlist yet, but from what I gathered, they haven't made that easy or possible either.
Not asking how to fix it because I don't think anyone really knows, but a simple requisition to apple to FIX IT.

    agreed!

  • Step count way too high in iPhone 6 with ios 8.2

I had been using the health app in iPhone 6 to count steps, very successfully until I loaded iOS 8.2.  Immediately, the step count inflated by more than 10 times, and it's now recording something like 120,000 steps per day and 200 flights climbed.  Anyone else seen this?

My step counts look ok, but I have had some errors with flights climbed. Just today my phone is showing 17 flights when I have probably climbed 5.

  • Too High Wakeups-from-idle per second

I am using Arch for the past few months and I have been noticing that the battery is draining much quicker than it used to be in windows.
I used powertop and found out that the "Wakeups-from-idle per second" is way too high. It is ~300 per second on average and once i even saw numbers like 8000 !!
The link http://www.linuxpowertop.org/powertop.php quotes it is possible to get 3 wakeups running a full GNOME desktop. It says that 193 is lot more than 3.
But in my case the numbers are way too high than expected. I run Arch with XFCE4.
Can somebody explain why am I seeing such high numbers and is this the reason for my battery draining ?

nachiappan wrote:Can somebody explain why am I seeing such high numbers and is this the reason for my battery draining ?
Powertop shows what is causing the wakeups. If it is the kernel, trying a different frequency governor might help.
More than likely tweaking a few different settings together will get you more battery life, the wakeups alone won't be doing all the battery draining.
There's lots of helpful hints on power saving here:

edit: seems your cpu isn't being monitored correctly. 3000% seems so wrong.
What kernel and cpu are you using?

  • HP Pavilion dv7-1130us IDT HD sound card problem: recording levels too high

I have been trying to get the IDT HD sound card in my HP Pavilion dv7-1130us laptop to allow me to switch from "microphone" to "Line In" input signal. I cannot find an option anywhere in the laptop do this. There is not a separate Line-In jack on the laptop. The mike jack is it.
The reason I'm trying to change the input setting is that I am using Audacity/Lame (the Win 7-compatible Beta version) to convert old cassettes to MP3. My laptop came with Vista but I upgraded to Windows 7 Professional (64-bit) earlier this year.
The problem is that recording levels are way too high using the mike input and so the recording comes out harsh and distorted. I have tried all possible recording level adjustments on the tape deck (no option), IDT sound card control panel, Windows device manager, etc.
From what I am reading on the online Audacity forums, using a mike input will cause the recording levels to be too high, and the setting has to be changed to "Line In" and not "microphone." Is there not a way to do that with this laptop and sound card?
The HP Support Assistant tells me that the driver for my sound card is up-to-date.
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions. I've been trying to find a solution on my own for a couple days with no luck.

    Hi Amanda,
    Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp52501-53000/sp52658.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete.  Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.

  • X64 kernel reserve size too high?

I'm not really a noob (2yrs on Arch...),  but maybe this question is. (Moderator move where you like..).
I upgraded my x32 system to x64 and now my fresh boot ram use is over ~300mb booted into openbox (~240mb booted to init 3), use to be ~200mb booted into openbox (~140 booted into init 3).
Here are some quick stats (let me know what more you need),
