DICOM image support
Hi ,
working on a medial project does flash support dicom image
loaded dynamic into flash. like jpg images.
thanks
srinath
So far all I've found was
This one is Flex based, however it will take some time for me to learn Flex (Flash Builder) since I mainly work in Flash Pro
http://pacsworld.blogspot.com/2008/11/conquest-dicom-flex-web-viewer.html
This page as a few links to other ones as well as one that looks promising
http://netpatia.blogspot.com/2009/02/flash-dicom-viewer.html
Hope that helps you. If I find any more I will let you know. I am looking for a local solution myself, not a server solution. Theoretically all I would have to do is point my URLRequest to a local file instead of to a web server, so hopefully that shouldn't be a big issue.
The big desired feature would be one I can have the source code of so I would have acess to the images BitmapData when they load. If anyone knows of any other solution feel free to drop us a line.
Thanks

Photoshop supports DICOM images, but Bridge does not show DICOM image thumbnails, and I have not figured out how to open DICOM images in PS from Bridge.
It seems the only way to open DICOM images is from the File..Open.. menu in Photoshop.
TomSIt looks like I need to add a .dcm suffix and change the "Open with" property of .dcm to Photoshop to image thumbnails.
I'm using OS X 10.6.8.
The files have no suffix.
The icon displayed in Bridge is a, top to bottom, dark grey to light grey gradient with the word "exec" in green text in the upper left hand corner.
Apple's finder also displays the same icon.
Bridge wants to open the file in Terminal.
If I change the "open with" property of the file to PS, I can make Bridge open it in Photoshop, but I still get no thumbnail in Bridge.
If I change the "open with" property to PS and I add a .dcm suffix, then Bridge creates a proper thumbnail.
OS X is generally not very picky about suffixes so I never thought of adding .dcm.
Thanks

" is it possible to store terabytes of data in 10g2 or is there another solution for this or any sugesition.
Thanks in advance

Camera RAW image support for Pentax K100D
Hi,
Firstly, let me just say I have a MacBook Pro which came preloaded with Tiger. A month or so ago I upgraded to Leopard and I have applied all the available Apple software update.
I recently got a Pentax K100D digital SLR camera capable of taking images in RAW format (the pentax saves these with a .PEF file extension) and I have been trying to view these images in Leopard. I read the article below, which says that Leopard provides system-level support for the Pentax K100D camera RAW format.
*Digital camera RAW formats supported by Mac OS X 10.5*
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306835
Now, my problem is that I cannot seem to be able to open the .PEF files with neither Quick Look, Preview, iPhoto or Aperture. Basically, none of these programs seem to be able to display my .PEF files. Aperture says 'unsupported image format'.
I have installed the software that came with my Pentax (i.e. Pentax Photo Browser and Pentax Photo Laboratory) and these applications can display the .PEF images just fine. For what it's worth, I installed this software before I upgraded to Leopard.
If I right-click on a .PEF file in Finder, the only programs listed in the Open context menu are the above two Pentax applications.
So, what am I missing? Clearly something seems to be screwy in my Leopard set up. Is there some way to 'repair' the RAW image support in Leopard??
I would appreciate any help in fixing this as I would really like to start working with RAW images in Aperture and iPhoto.
Finally, just be aware that I am not an experienced Mac user. I have always used Windows until now and so... if you have a fix for this I would really appreciate a slightly more elaborate response.
Thanks in advance,
EddieI have done a little more research on this...
As it turns out, my camera is a Pentax K100D Super - not a K100D. The K100D Super is not listed as one of the supported camera RAW formats in the aforementioned article. So I guess this means that my camera is as yet unsupported. Sigh... -

you in advance.The JPanel is only able to display JPEG and GIF images, you will need to decode the DICOM image first and convert to JPEG or GIF format, there are some source codes available on the net. Also check this link out

Pixel Bender filter to process DICOM images
I was wondering whether it would be possible to process DICOM
images (used in medical)? It would be great if the high-speed
processing engine of Pixel Bender would be able to change
brightness/contrast of DICOM images on the fly (and visualise the
result of course). Anybody any ideas?I don't see any reason why you couldn't use Pixel Bender to
process the image if you had the right DICOM decoder (image
loader). The only requirement for processing using Pixel Bender is
that you need the image data in a big buffer with a < 4 channel
chunky format.
From my (limited) understanding of DICOM, the images are
saved using JPEG, so what you are trying to do should be
possible. -

The remaining problems are mostly down to not being in the $srcdir directory when checking out the ImageMagick source. It's also good practice to copy the source and do the build in the copy. That way, it will be possible to successfully update the source and rebuild the package at a later date. Otherwise, the PKGBUILD certainly works with the following modifications but I've no idea whether the package is viable because I didn't try installing and testing it.

How to decode jpeg 2000 compression in dicom image ?
I'm working on dicom image viewer. How to decode jpeg 2000 compression in dicom image? Please help me. Thanks.
Illustrator is not a jpg editor.
There are 2 things you can do....
Use Live Trace to trace the jpg then adjust the shapes for the track. My guess is this won't work well at all.
Use the pen tool and draw the path yourself. You can then completely adjust the path all you want. -
A client wants to stitch x-ray image sets into full-spine images. The images are in DICOM format, three overlapping images of the top, middle and lower spine. Testing on non-medical images in DICOM format, I know I can stitch using Photomerge. What I'd like to know is if the composite image will retain its EXIF data (DICOM has its own section in the EXIF specification).
Has anyone used Photoshop for this purpose, or had experience with DICOM images?A couple of questions:
You have two (or more) Images in Portrait orientation, that you wish to stitch together. Do you wish for them to "stitch" side-by-side, creating a wider Image, or stitch them end-to-end, making them taller? I assume the former, but am not positive.
Were the Portrait Images shot with overlap, and aligned, when captured, or were they just shot randomly, i.e. did you shoot a planned, full panorama, with vertical Images?
Can you Open one, then increase the Canvas Size, and drag the other into that Image, manually aligning it to match up (skipping PhotoMerge)?
Can you get by with using the above method, with say both pictures near each other, and maybe the Canvas (say choose black, when you extend it), so that you have two, separate photographs in one Image?
Good luck,

How do I change Transfer Syntax for DICOM images using sample Java sources?
Hi,
I tested using Note:876534.1 Java API samples. It works fine when I put the "Implicit VR Little Endian" DICOM file.
I could insert the DICOM file, also I could get the all DICOM tags correctly by SQL.
But I could not get all DICOM tags when inserted "Explicit VR Little Endian" and "JPEG Lossy" DICOM file.
Also I could not find how to change the Transfer Syntax to orddicom Java API.
How do I change following simple java source for inserting different Transfer Syntax DICOM file?
Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection(args[0], args[1], args[2]);
System.out.println("Got database connection");
conn.setAutoCommit(false);
Statement stmt = conn.createStatement();
CallableStatement cs = null;
cs = conn.prepareCall("begin ord_dicom.setDataModel(); end; ");
cs.execute();
cs.close();
String rowInsertSQL = "insert into dicom_test (id, dcmobj) values (" + args[3] + ",ordsys.orddicom())";
stmt.execute(rowInsertSQL);
System.out.println("Inserted empty dicom object ...");
String rowSelectSQL = "select dcmobj from dicom_test where id = " + args[3] + " for update";
OracleResultSet rset = (OracleResultSet)stmt.executeQuery(rowSelectSQL);
rset.next();
OrdDicom dcmProxy = (OrdDicom)rset.getORAData("dcmobj", OrdDicom.getORADataFactory());
rset.close();
System.out.println("selected row for update...");
File testFile = new File(args[4]);
boolean success = dcmProxy.loadContent(testFile, true);
dcmProxy.setProperties();
if (success) {
String updateSQL = "update dicom_test set dcmobj=? where id=" + args[3];
OraclePreparedStatement opstmt =
(OraclePreparedStatement)conn.prepareStatement(updateSQL);
opstmt.setORAData(1, dcmProxy);
opstmt.execute();
int contentLength = dcmProxy.getContentLength();
String SOPInstanceUID = dcmProxy.getSOPInstanceUid();
System.out.println("contentLength: " + contentLength);
System.out.println("SOPInstanceUID: " + SOPInstanceUID);
opstmt.close();
Thanks,
Tatsuya
Edited by: user13490925 on 2011/01/31 1:48It would go like this
1. TIFF + XML metadata => DICOM image file
you can use the method ord_dicom.createDicomImage(src blob, metadata xmltype, dest blob) to create the DICOM image in a blob.
2, then use the ORDDicom constructor ORDDIcom(data blob) to create an ORDDicom object
3. then use the ORDDicom processCopy method to change the image properties.
Alternatively you can change image properties on the input TIFF image (using ORDImage methods) then create the DICOM image. If you are happy with the image properties then you can skip step 3.

Horrible experience with HP Envy recovery image - Support Feedback
I've recently had a horrible experience trying to get an HP sleekbook to run an af initial recover reimage.
Most of this was because of HP support and them treating me like a criminal.
I purchased the laptop at the start of this week and the only thing I did was requested it to have 8GB of ram rather than 4GB and imediately reimaged using the minized image.
The reimage failed with the error "Detect some error during PININST_BBV"
The log indicated that the intel rapid storage driver had failed to install.
I read on the HP forums that people had reset the bios back to default prior to performing the reimage which had fixed this problem but it made no difference for me.
I then recovered it using the reset machine option from the recovery center. Which worked correctly.
But when I went to use the machine I saw that windows was no longer activated. I check the details and the showed that the product key was blocked. I did quick google on the partial product key and found that it was a key that was released and used for pirated copies of windows 8.
I rang HP and after explaining the situation was told that I had brought a used laptop that the product key had been stolen. I explained that it wasn't used and that I'd brought it brand new. I was told that I'd need to buy a new copy of windows 8 or get the product key from the shop I brought it from.
I explained that the product keys are encrypted in the UEFI and are read during the reimage. HP support told me again that they couldn't help me and that I'd need to buy a new copy of windows 8 or get the product key from the shop where the laptop was purchased.
After trying to explain how product keys work with windows 8 and new laptops and having the same comments copy and pasted to my screen I ended the conversation.
After all this I decided to crack open the laptop and remove the extra 4GB of memory and attempt to perform another minimized reimage. This actually worked fine and the OS got the correct product key and life was good again. I'm guessing that the blocked product key is used by HP to perform the initial OS install prior to reading the product key from the bios.
I am totally disgusted by HP's support and attitude towards me, the fact that they don't know how their laptops work nor care about listening to what a customer has to say. I won't make the same mistake of buying an HP product again.Hey Relent0r....
I hear ya.... I have been doing support for over 20 years and recently HP have lost the meaning of "Customer Service". All we did was take out the original drive and put in a new SSD (something we do everyday)
I had the same issue. Product Key Blocked etc.... 0xc004e003 etc but after be told a very similar story to you... Sorry Sir, we cant help...
First issue was the I grabbed to Windows 8 Pro and not the Windows 8 Standard recovery DVD's... not a good first try but once we got the version right... followed the process below.... all done!
Hope this helps!
Luckily one of our tech's found this procedure...
Installation
Insert the original Windows 8 Professional 64bit Disc to the DVD drive and launch the boot drive order by pressing F9
In the driver order, select Boot from EFI File and hit enter. A window will open up, showing both the HDD/SSD and DVD drive along with a unique code next to each hardware device (This ID probably has something to do with Secure Boot).
Choose EFI Sector DVD and hit Enter
Then select <EFI> >>> <Boot> >>> Bootx64.EFI. After this system will blank out and then asked to Boot from DVD.
Press any key to boot from DVD. If it's done correctly, you'll see a HP logo starting up
After the DVD has finish initializing, Windows 8 setup screen will appear. click Next
Accept the EULA and then select Custom Install
Create a new partition on the drive you want to install the OS.
Note: Windows will create 3 additional partitions, along with the one for OS installation. This makes the drive as GPT.
Install Windows 8
After installation and customization of personal settings. Go to Control Panel>System and you'll see Windows 8 is activated. -
Sony DSC-RX100 Video and Images supported?
Hey all,
I was wondering about if anyone has a DSC-RX100 that they have successfully used with iPhoto. Successful = imported video & images by connecting their camera to iphoto and clicking import.
I had a dsc-hv9v sony camera which was great until its demise. The issue was the images came over fine but the videos did not. (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5251) Sony uses a MTS (AVCHD) format. Which seems to have issues importing to iphoto.
thanks9.4.1 iphoto
9.0.8 imovie also and video
video is MPEG-2 Transport Stream .MTS
