Downloaded Itunes 9 and now get a message: "Ituneshelper was not installed correctly. Please reinstall Itunes. Error 7" I have tried to reinstall and get the same message again. If I try to open Itunes from the desktop icon I get another message: "Itunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall Itunes. Error 7 (Windows error 998)
I have taken Itunes off of my computer twice and reinstalled and still get these messages.
I followed the instructions on a similar thread that was posted in May but that didn't help.
What do ya think? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's being unusually cryptic for an Error 7.
Usually if the .NET framework is up to snuff, an error 7 indicates trouble with the Apple Application Support installation. But in those cases, usually there's a preceding message about one of the Apple Application Support program files.
On rare occasions (had it happen to me once myself while installing and uninstalling stuff by way of troubleshooting experimentation), the 7 can indicate trouble with one of the other associated programs (like QuickTime, perhaps BonJour). So, perhaps the sensible way forward for us under the circumstances is a complete uninstall and reinstall of all iTunes and related componentry, as per:

If you get any error messages with any of the uninstalls, deletions or reinstall, let us know what they say.
If, however, the process seems to go through swimmingly, does your iTunes start launching without the 7?

You will need to uninstall iTunes and all related components, reboot, delete what remains of the named folders, then reinstall. If you get stuck I'll be happy to try to help but most potential issues are already discussed in the tip.

They will be gone from the iphone, but you should be syning all contacts to your computer regularly and should be importing all pics to your computer regularly, particularly before any update.

Find out what that third party software the kext file belongs to and update or use the developers method to uninstall the third party software responsible for it.
I suspect it's a iTunes extension perhaps?
You also can use the manual method of Finder > Go > Computer and opening your drive, then your System/Library/Extensions folder and looking for the file and moving it out onto the desktop, you will need to be in Admin user and use your password, then reboot to clear the random access memory. However this method doesn't remove the parent program you still need to do that.

The kext file wasn't loaded, so it's not running, but removing it from the Extensions folder or uninstalling what put it there will solve your notification problem as that's all it appears to be.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)

Now I've checked the forums and followed the advice of uninstalling all Apple applications, rebooting, and reinstalling iTunes.
