Diff erence between  target cost  and plan cost

what is the diffenece between target cost and plan cost , in product cost controlling?

Hi
Plan cost is some thing anticipated cost i.e cost estimates here we can say the standard cost.
Target cost is the cost of (yeild) of the production at plan cost.
Ex: Standard cost for X product is 10
      production lot size is 100
      production yeild is 90
then your plan cost will be = 1000
and target cost will be       =   900
and the variance of 100 of 10 units will be as variance.

  • Huge Variance between Target cost and Actual Cost

    Hi,
In Product Costing,I am getting Huge variance between Target cost and Actual Cost.It is showing the Target Cost as ZERO.Why i am getting this target cost as Zero? what could be the reason? Kindly help me in fix this issue.
    Thanks
    Supriya

    Dear,
First do the GR final DEV for Production order
You need to do the variance calculation in KKS2, then when you save the variance, the target cost is calculated.
Target cost appear after GR.  And you will get the Variance also right.
    Please try and come back.

    Hello All,
I am new to PS Portal Structure. Currently I am using PS HRMS 9.0 and PT - 8.49. what is the difference between Target Content and Homepage Pagelet?
    Thanks!

PeopleSoft Portal use the 2-3 column layout to display pagelet on the homepage, for homepage pagelet, it just used to presents informaiton on the homepage.
For target content, PS spide the window by 2 columns, the left is the PeopleSoft Menu Navigation, the right panel is used to display the menu item related target content.
Target content is the PeopleSoft standard page/component, but pagelet can created from many sources, HTML, Query, Rowset, ..., and it also can create from page/component.

  • Difference between target schema and target user

    hi,
Can anyone explain to me what is the difference between target schema and target user? examples will be more welcome then theoratical explanation.
    thanks so much

In Oracle database schema and user is the same things (if you use general authentication by database).
When used external authentication (for example with Windows domains/active directory) schema is a owner of database objects group and you should specify mapping between external usernames and schema to which this user has access when connects to database.
    For example:
    - windows domain user CORPDOMAIN\USER1 can connect to oracle database schema SCOTT;
    - windows domain user CORPDOMAIN\USER2 can connect to oracle database schema SCOTT;
    - windows domain user CORPDOMAIN\ADMIN can connect to oracle database schema SYSTEM;

  • Diff. Between Standard Analysis and Flixible Analysis

Can any one explain the differences between stadnard analysis and flexible analysis in Sales and Distribution ?

An information structure combines three kinds of information:
      Characteristics
      Key Figures
      Period unit (time reference)
Characteristics are items of information that are suitable for aggregation (such as plant, material).
Every characteristic has characteristic values. For example, the characteristic "material" might
    have the following characteristic values:
Material: ball-bearing (represented as a text)
Material 324567 (represented as a key)
Key figures are values with particular relevance to business.
Purchasing Information System: invoiced amount, net order value, number of
    deliveries
Sales Information System: sales volume, incoming orders, returns, sales order
    value
Inventory controlling: valuated stock receipts, average consumption, total
consumption value, number of material movements
Values are ofcourse what we give to the key figures.
Standard analyses offer a wide range of possibilities for analyzing data. The standard analysis
provides you with a whole spectrum of functions which enable you to target specific data for
    detailed analyses.
The information structures provide the data basis for the standard analyses.
In each standard analysis you can specify the range of the data to be analyzed by using various
selection options. You can either predefine the key figures that you want to analyze or choose
them interactively during the analysis itself.
Flexible analyses allow you to can tailor the way in which key figures are combined and
aggregated. This means that it is possible to both provide administrators with detailed information
    and management with aggregated information.
Flexible analyses enable easy access to the Report Writer, a user-friendly tool with which you
can create reports for various analyses. The Report Writer is integrated in other SAP
applications, such as Extended General Ledger and Cost Center Accounting.
Evaluation structures form the interface to the Report Writer. Evaluation structures consist of
characteristics and key figures and are easy to construct.
An evaluation structure with the same name exists for each information structure in the standard
    system.
Even the self-defined information structures created in Customizing can be evaluated via the
    flexible analyses.
You can create an evaluation on the basis of the evaluation structure.
To define an evaluation, all you need to do is select the characteristics and key figures you
    require
One of the especially useful features here is that you have the option of tailoring the layout of
your report to suit your particular requirements. You can also define extra key figures for the reports,
which are derived from existing key figures by means of calculation formulas. You can
thereby multiply the key figures or divide one key figure by another.

  • Différence between runtime.totalMemory() and getHeapMemoryUsage

    Hi
i have an ambiguity to understand the difference between runtime.totalMemory() and getHeapMemoryUsage:
    1- is Runtime.getRuntime().maxMemory() = memoryMXBean.getHeapMemoryUsage().getMax() ?
    2- is Runtime.getRuntime().totalMemory() - Runtime.getRuntime().freeMemory(); = memoryMXBean.getHeapMemoryUsage().getUsed()?
    3- is Runtime.getRuntime().totalMemory() = memoryMXBean.getHeapMemoryUsage().getInit() ?

You will find IDEA will report the same thing.
The memory sizes you have are only the java object heap sizes.
The actual size includes shared library, memory used by native code etc.
However the use of share library can be shared so that running the application more than once does not double memory consumption.
Additionally windows task manager is often concidered to be inaccurate.
It is also possible you have a memory leak in your native code.

  • Diffrence in data between the datasource and planning book

    Hi All,
I have loaded the historical data from an infocube into my planning area then i generated the forecast. In our planning book we have provided some keyfigs like market intelligence etc.,. i have written a macro to add the baseline forecast and market intelligence and saved into a seperate keyfigure, i have defined the macro as a default macro and the macro execution is at "details only". everything is working fine in my planning book.
After extracting the data from my planning area into a datasource, the data is not matching between planning book and the datasource <b>only for the keyfigures which i have written macros.</b>
Please let me know where i have gone wrong and what are other settings to be made to replicate the same data into my datasource.

    Hi,
Please note that system never execute the macro while extracting data from planning area to infocube. If you want that data to be saved it is
necessary to copy the values to a "non-calculated" liveCache keyfigure.
Each time, you will reenter in the planning book, the new value
calculated will be displayed, it won't be the real current value
from the livecache, it is not inside until you saved.
If you don't save this result, this  is only visible on the grid but not
in the planning area and livecache.
Everytime planning book is opened the values for keyfigures which is calculated from macro are re-calculated. If you save these values and
immediately afterwards extract the data, those numbers will be the
same. However, maintaining new values in the planning book without
saving would result in "differences" ...
A DEFAULT macro is also launched while starting the Planning book.
Please read carefully the note #674238.
    Regards,
    Sunitha.

  • Mismatch between target capitalization and repository name

To ease the transition from a custom app to an iStore app using JSPs, we are trying to preserve some of the old URLs. In particular a reference to an old URL the ended with /abc.pl? followed by a long string of parameters. We tried to circumvent the problem by creating a symbolic link with that name in the same directory as the new program (xxx.jsp)that processes the parms. Everything works up to the point that the jspapploader tries to load the module, it issues and exception with the mismatch message, saying that the repository name is xxx.jsp and the target name is abc.pl
Is there a way to use symbolic pointers and/or update the repository with an alias to get the module to run?

Alas, the updated version of the JSP engine which proudly resides on the front page of technet has come to my rescue. Still curious about why it happened in the prior version, but it works great in the new one.

  • Target cost and planned cost

What is the difference between Target cost and planned cost in discrete production orders? Please advise.

    Dear
Planned costs will be updated after creation of production order.
Target costs will be updated after delivery of the production order.
Plan cost    = Plan qty X Planned price (std. cost estimate)
Actual cost = Actual qty X Actual price
Target Cost = Actual qty X Planned price (std. cost estimate)

    1) if in PO, i have condition type where category is B(delivery cost) or F(freight), then during GR, system will credit freight/customs clearing account. subsequently in MIRO, i have to choose planned delivery cost indicator when create invoice, correct?
    2) if my PO has no condition type where category is B or F, i do not have to choose planned delivery cost indicator during MIRO as no freight/customs clearing account to be set off. correct?

  • Target cost calculation

    Hi All,
In the production order, when we displays the cost analysis, we get Target cost. Can anyone please explain how the target cost for indirect activity allocation (ex:Machine hrs,Wage hrs etc.,) is calculated? I mean is there any specific formula or calculation involved in the same?

    Hi,
In production order (CO03 --> Cost analysis) I want to know what different between Target cost & Plan cost & Actual cost?
Total Plan Cost = Std Cost the material required to Produce X Planned Qty of the required material
Target Cost = Std Cost the material planned to Produce X Std Qty of material required to produce, for Produced Actual Qty
Actual Cost = Std Cost the material planned to Produce X Actual Qty of material consumed, for Produced Actual Qty
For Example : Final Material - A,- Qty Planned to Produce - 2 nos
As per Standards, Below Qty of Materials required to Produce A , for 2 Nos
    Mat B - 2Nos X INR 50 = INR 100
    Mat C - 4Nos X INR 60 = INR 240
    Activity Cost = 2 hrs X INR 10 = INR 20
Total Plan Cost = INR 360
Actual Qty Produced = 1 No
Actual Consumption is as follows .
    Mat B - 1.5 Nos ( X INR 50 = INR 75 )
    Mat C - 2 Nos ( X INR 60 = INR 120 )
    Activity Cost = 2 hrs ( X INR 10 = INR 20 )
    So, Actual Cost = INR 7512020 = INR 215
Whereas, Target cost for the Actual Qty ( of Product A - 1 Ns) is , as follows,
    Mat B - 1 Nos ( X INR 50 = INR 50 )
    Mat C - 1.5 Nos ( X INR 60 = INR 90 )
    Activity Cost = 1 hrs ( X INR 10 = INR 10 )
    Therefore, Target cost = INR 509010 = INR 150

  • Target cost in COR3

    Hi All,
In COR3 --> Costing Analysis how is the target cost and target quantity. The variances are calculated and the order is TECO. We are having a huge variance between Target/Actual and unable to find.
    Rewards for the correct answer.
    -- Syed Abid Hussain

    Hi Syed
Target cost and Target qty is the pro-rated standard qty for the actual output
Eg: If your Standard says 100 Kg of Input for 90 Kg of Output, and You manufacture say 60 Kgs, then your Target input qty would be 60/90 * 100 = 66.67 Kgs
Any variance between target qty and actual qty is variance.. Why variance is high you need to investigate... See in which material or in which activity the variance is high and question your shop floor guys for the same
Or may be your standards are wrong in which case also variance may arise...

  • Calculation of Var. at target cost

    hi gurus,
i want to know hw are variances occurred using PCC. the various types of variances that can possibly occour during a prodcut costing.
    regards
    sayeed

    Dear Sayeed,
1.Under what conditions is the variance calculated while using PCC (Product cost collector)?
Say for example for order qty of 2 nos, planned price is 10 & Hours to be produce is 2 hrs
Niow while confirming , user will Give activity time as 3 hrs for order qty 2 nos
so now variance is 1 hr cost of machine, labour etc
2 .How is target cost determined ?

  • Link between process order and sales order for planning strategy 52

    Hello,
I investigate the possibility of a link between "sales order" and "planned order / process order" for the usage of planning strategy 52 (planning w/o final assembly, make to stock).
I know, this is not conform to the basics of planning strategies (EITHER make to order OR make to stock) and I suspect it would be a modification. Of course we have the alternative "make to order" - strategy 50, but we do not want to use individual customer stocks.
Is anybody there with similar customer requirements or project experiences?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi Jorg,
To my understanding if you need hard pegging then in SAP only Individual requirement is possible.
Or else you need to create a custom transactions/table to identify Sale order and when ever a process order is created by selecting the sale order record, the process order detials should also get updated against that.
You need to take the help of ABAP expert for this,
    Regards,

  • Links between MM , FI and PP

    Dear All ,
How MM is linked with FI and PP ??? PLs explain the functions ???

    Pls go through this
    Cost Object Controlling
    Purpose
The Cost Object Controlling component is designed to answer the question: What costs have been incurred for which objects? For this purpose, the component assigns costs to the output of the company. The output can be materials manufactured in-house, individual orders, or intangible goods.
This component provides real-time cost management functions that measure the cost of goods manufactured in all plants.
Cost Object Controlling enables you to determine the cost of goods manufactured and the cost of goods sold.
    You can:
    · Establish planned costs (budgeted costs)
    · Record actual costs for the cost objects
    · Compare actual costs with target costs and with planned costs, and analyze variances
    · Determine price floors for products or individual orders
You can use the functions of Cost Object Controlling by lot or by period.
Cost Object Controlling supplies basic information for the following business functions:
    · Price setting and general price policy
    · Inventory valuation
    · Cost of goods manufactured
    · Profitability analysis
    · Profit center accounting
    Implementation Considerations
Here are some of the ways you can utilize Cost Object Controlling:
    · Determine whether the actual costs of an order matched or exceeded the planned costs
    · Determine the production variances between actual costs and target costs, and why these occurred
    · Decide whether to accept a particular sales order (whether the sales order will be profitable)
    · Identify areas in your company where you have particularly low costs and therefore which cost objects you should concentrate on
    · Decide whether it would be more profitable to manufacture a cost object in-house or to outsource it
    · Determine whether and how the cost of goods manufactured can be reduced
Cost Object Controlling also can provide special information on:
    · The cost of unplanned scrap
    · Cost savings resulting from new production methods
    · Cost behavior during capacity bottlenecks
The cost of goods manufactured for finished products and the work in process for orders can be used to capitalize the inventories in your balance sheet.
    Integration
Before you can use Cost Object Controlling, you calculate the planned costs for each product in a cost estimate. You can use different costing methods in Product Cost Planning(CO-PC-PCP) for this purpose.
Cost Object Controlling accesses master data and transaction data in Production Planning (PP), Production Planning - Process Industries (PP-PI), Materials Management (MM), Sales and Distribution (SD), and Overhead Cost Controlling (CO-OM).
You can view the data of Cost Object Controlling in the Product Cost Controlling Information System (CO-PC-IS).
When you settle, you can transfer the data of Cost Object Controlling to other components in the system:
    · Actual Costing/Material Ledger (CO-PC-ACT)
    · Financial Accounting(FI) for purposes such as capitalizing unfinished and finished products and automatically creating reserves
    · Profitability Analysis(CO-PA) to analyze the costs by market segment
    · Profit Center Accounting (EC-PCA) to analyze the results by profit center
See also Integration of Cost Object Controlling
    Features
All postings of actual data that refer to a cost object result in an immediate debit of the cost object.
The closing activities at the end of the period allow you to do the following:
    · Revaluate activities at actual prices
    · Allocate overhead using template allocation and by defining overhead rates for cost objects
    · Determine the work in process (the value of unfinished goods)
    · Determine the variances between target costs and actual costs
    · Transfer the calculated data to other objects and application components
    · Compile periodic reports on a regular basis
Analysis functions are supported by the Cost Object Controlling Information System.
You can analyze planned costs, target costs, actual costs, and quantity information at various levels such as the plant, product group, or individual cost object. The data is always available in real time.
Drilldown capabilities enable you to access detailed information.
From the evaluations at plant level, you drill down to the product groups and from there down to materials/products or individual orders.
    See also:
Cost Object Controlling is subdivided into the following application components:
    · Product Cost by Order
    · Product Cost by Period
    · Product Cost by Sales Order
    · Costs for Intangible Goods and Services
For detailed information on creating material cost estimates, such as for the purpose of calculating the standard costs of your materials, see Product Cost Planning.
For information on cost accounting in engineer-to-order, see Project System.
