  • SQL Server 2012 Management Studio:In the Database, how to print out or export the old 3 dbo Tables that were created manually and they have a relationship for 1 Parent table and 2 Child tables?How to handle this relationship in creating a new XML Schema?

    Hi all,
    Long time ago, I manually created a Database (APGriMMRP) and 3 Tables (dbo.Table_1_XYcoordinates, dbo.Table_2_Soil, and dbo.Table_3_Water) in my SQL Server 2012 Management Studio (SSMS2012). The dbo.Table_1_XYcoordinates has the following columns: file_id,
    Pt_ID, X, Y, Z, sample_id, Boring. The dbo.Table_2_Soil has the following columns: Boring, sample_date, sample_id, Unit, Arsenic, Chromium, Lead. The dbo.Table_3_Water has the following columns: Boring, sample_date, sample_id, Unit, Benzene, Ethylbenzene,
    Pyrene. The dbo.Table_1_XYcoordinates is a Parent Table. The dbo.Table_2_Soil and the dbo.Table_3_Water are 2 Child Tables. The sample_id is key link for the relationship between the Parent Table and the Child Tables.
    Problem #1) How can I print out or export these 3 dbo Tables?
    Problem #2) If I right-click on the dbo Table, I see "Start PowerShell" and click on it. I get the following error messages: Warning: Failed to load the 'SQLAS' extension: An exception occurred in SMO while trying to manage a service.
    --> Failed to retrieve data for this request. --> Invalid class.  Warning: Could not obtain SQL Server Service information. An attemp to connect to WMI on 'NAB-WK-02657306' failed with the following error: An exception occurred in SMO while trying
    to manage a service. --> Failed to retrieve data for this request. --> Invalid class.  .... PS SQLSERVER:\SQL\NAB-WK-02657306\SQLEXPRESS\Databases\APGriMMRP\Table_1_XYcoordinates>   What causes this set of error messages? How can
    I get this problem fixed in my PC that is an end user of the Windows 7 LAN System? Note: I don't have the regular version of Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 in my PC. I just have the Microsoft 2012 Shell (Integrated) program in my PC.
    Problem #3: I plan to create an XML Schema Collection in the "APGriMMRP" database for the Parent Table and the Child Tables. How can I handle the relationship between the Parent Table and the Child Table in the XML Schema Collection?
    Problem #4: I plan to extract some results/data from the Parent Table and the Child Table by using XQuery. What kind of JOIN (Left or Right JOIN) should I use in the XQuerying?
    Please kindly help, answer my questions, and advise me how to resolve these 4 problems.
    Thanks in advance,
    Scott Chang

    In the future, I would recommend you to post your questions one by one, and to the appropriate forum. Of your questions it is really only #3 that fits into this forum. (And that is the one I will not answer, because I have worked very little with XSD.)
    1) Not sure what you mean with "print" or "export", but when you right-click a database, you can select Tasks from the context menu and in this submenu you find "Export data".
    2) I don't know why you get that error, but any particular reason you want to run PowerShell?
    4) If you have tables, you query them with SQL, not XQuery. XQuery is when you query XML documents, but left and right joins are SQL things. There are no joins in XQuery.
    As for left/right join, notice that these two are equivalent:
    SELECT ...
    FROM   a LEFT JOIN b ON a.col = b.col
    SELECT ...
    FROM   b RIGHT JOIN a ON a.col = b.col
    But please never use RIGHT JOIN - it gives me a headache!
    There is nothing that says that you should use any of the other. In fact, if you are returning rows from parent and child, I would expect an inner join, unless you want to cater for parents without children.
    Here is an example where you can study the different join types and how they behave:
    CREATE TABLE apple (a int         NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY,
                        b varchar(23) NOT NULL)
    INSERT apple(a, b)
       VALUES(1, 'Granny Smith'),
             (2, 'Gloster'),
             (4, 'Ingrid-Marie'),
             (5, 'Milenga')
    CREATE TABLE orange(c int        NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY,
                        d varchar(23) NOT NULL)
    INSERT orange(c, d)
       VALUES(1, 'Agent'),
             (3, 'Netherlands'),
             (4, 'Revolution')
    SELECT a, b, c, d
    FROM   apple
    CROSS  JOIN orange
    SELECT a, b, c, d
    FROM   apple
    INNER  JOIN orange ON apple.a = orange.c
    SELECT a, b, c, d
    FROM   apple
    LEFT   OUTER JOIN orange ON apple.a = orange.c
    SELECT a, b, c, d
    FROM   apple
    RIGHT  OUTER JOIN orange ON apple.a = orange.c
    SELECT a, b, c, d
    FROM   apple
    FULL OUTER JOIN orange ON apple.a = orange.c
    go
    DROP TABLE apple, orange

  • How to enter a data into the specified column and row in a created table

    Hi,
    I want to enter some data to specified column and row in a already created table. Please let me know how to do this.
    Regards
    Shivakumar Singh

    A table is just a 2D array of strings. Keep it in a shift register and use "replace array element" to modify the desired entry programmatically.
    If you want to modify it manually and directly from the front panel, make it into a control and type directly into the desired element. (In this case your program would need to write to it using a local variable).
    Atttached is a simple example in LabVIEW 7.0 that shows both possibilities.

    i exported the application from apex.oracle.com and imported it to our environment
    import went fine, but when I ran the IR page I got
    ORA-20001: get_dbms_sql_cursor error ORA-00904: : invalid identifier
    evidently the problem is a lack of public execute on DBMS_LOB, which is used in the generated IR source.
    while waiting for the DBA to grant privs on DBMS_LOB, changing the dbms_lob.getlength call to length() fixes the IR.
    however, i am not getting the download link on the associated form page... changed templates, that's not the issue -- we'll see if that's a dbms_lob issue as well

    Looks like there is a 127-column limit on the number of report columns supported when using that wizard. Do you have more than that?

  • No header, main area and footer in smartforms while creating table in 4.6c

    Hi Experts,
    Iam working in SAP 4.6c version and iam creating smartform for domestic invoice, in smartform i have created table but when expand the table its not giving the option of Header, Main Area and footer, can anyone explain how i can get the above details.. pls reply ASAP as its very important.
    Thanks in advance,
    Abhishek Pandey.

    Hi,
    I had faced a similar situation in 4.6c.
    As clearly stated, you get the Header and Footer from Events.
    The Window defined under Page, should have
    Main window checked in it's General Attributes
    I guess that should get hold of your problem.
    Cheers,

  • How to create tables and views and procedures in other users as one

    HI to all,
    I am having a user named vijay and i am trying to create the tables in user srini as user vijay
    in user vijay i'm having tables
    1. company
    2. department
    i wrote one procedure
    create or replace procedure sp_createobjects{short_name in varchar2}
    {my openbracket key is not working so that i put open braces here}
    as
    cursor table_name is select object_name from dba_tables where object_type = 'TABLE';
    var_table_name varchar2{1000};
    begin
    open table_name;
    loop
    fetch table_name into var_table_name;
    execute immediate 'create table ' || short_name || '.' || var_table_name || ' as select * from '||var_table_name;
    end loop;
    end;
    the procedure is created sucessfully. but when i am trying to execute the procedure it is throwing the error as insufficient privileges.
    my 2nd question is how to create the procedures into the other user?
    Thanks in advance

    First of all, your query "from dba_tables where object_type = 'TABLE'" returns all tables, not just the tables of the user vijay.
    So there are two possibilities, you may be getting the error because you cannot select from another user's table or you may be getting the error because you cannot create a table under the user srini. To create tables in another schema you need the "create any table" privilege.

  • Create tables insert something inside and then connect my application to db

    thank you to be patient with me. ok since the beginning I think I have learned a lot with the people responses. so my database is mounted now. I used the cmd.exe command line. i have create an instance, a service, and the database. Now, I need to do two things:create tables inside of my database and insert something inside but I only have the sql script (I will add it at the end of the thread).it is just a part of my huge script.. but this cript can not be open with the command line. So I want to know if you could help me change some stuff inside in the aim to run this script with the command line.that's the first point
    secondly, I have an application named lifetrack. i want to connect this application with my database. so how can I change my settings file to be able to do that?(I will add the settings file I have at the end.It is the one I use for sql server). thanks a lot.I'm a french student so I try my best to answer you in a good english. and believe me if I have the exact way to create table,insert something inside like indicate in the part of my script and connect an application to the database you will never see my thread again. thank you

  • Create Table using DBMS_SQL package and size not exceeding 64K

    I have a size contraint that my SQL size should not exceed 64K.
    Now I would appriciate if some one could tell me how to create a table using
    Dynamic sql along with usage of DBMS_SQL package.
    Brief Scenario: Users at my site are not given permission to create table.
    I need to write a procedure which the users could use to create a table .ALso my SQL size should not exceed 64K. Once this Procedure is created using DBMS_SQL package ,user should pass the table name to create a table.
    Thanks/

    "If a user doesn't have permission to create a table then how do you expect they will be able to do this"
    Well, it depends on what you want to do. I could write a stored proc that creates a table in my schema and give some other user execute privilege on it. They would then be able to create a able in my schema without any explicitly granted create table privilege.
    Similarly, assuming I have CREATE ANY TABLE granted directly to me, I could write a stroe proc that would create a table in another users schema. As long as they have quota on their default tablespace, they do not need CREATE TABLE privileges.
    SQL> CREATE USER a IDENTIFIED BY a
      2  DEFAULT TABLESPACE users TEMPORARY TABLESPACE temp;
    User created.
    SQL> GRANT CREATE SESSION TO a;
    Grant succeeded.
    SQL> CREATE TABLE a.t (id NUMBER, descr VARCHAR2(10));
    CREATE TABLE a.t (id NUMBER, descr VARCHAR2(10))
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-01950: no privileges on tablespace 'USERS'So, give them quota on the tablespace and try again
    SQL> ALTER USER a QUOTA UNLIMITED ON users;
    User altered.
    SQL> CREATE TABLE a.t (id NUMBER, descr VARCHAR2(10));
    Table created.Now lets see if it really belongs to a:
    SQL> connect a/a
    Connected.
    SQL> SELECT table_name FROM user_tables;
    TABLE_NAME
    T
    SQL> INSERT INTO t VALUES (1, 'One');
    1 row created.Yes, it definitely belongs to a. Just to show that ther is nothing up my sleeve:
    SQL> create table t1 (id NUMBER, descr VARCHAR2(10));
    create table t1 (id NUMBER, descr VARCHAR2(10))
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-01031: insufficient privilegesI can almost, but not quite, see a rationale for the second case if you want to enforce some sort of naming or location standards but the whole thing seems odd to me.
    Users cannot create tables, so lets give them a procedure to create tables?

  • Insert, select and create table as give different results

    Hi all
    I have a strange situation with this three cases:
    1) select statement: SELECT (...)
    2) insert statement with that same select as above: INSERT INTO SELECT (...)
    3) create table statement again with that same select: CREATE TABLE AS SELECT (...)
    Each of these cases produce different number of rows (first one 24, second 108 and third 58). What's more the data for second and third case doesn't have any sense with what they should return. The first case returns good results.
    One interesting thing is that select uses "UNION ALL" between 2 queries. When simple UNION is used, everything works fine and all three cases return 24 rows. Also if each query is run seaprately, they work fine.
    Anyone encountered something like this? (before i create an SR :)
    Database is 10.2.0.2 on AIX 5.3. It's a data warehouse.

    I understand UNION vs UNION ALL. But that doesn't change the fact that same SELECT should return same set of rows wether in INSERT, CREATE TABLE AS or a simple SELECT.

  • Create Table taking long time (more than 60 minutes) and still running

    Hi all,
    I was able to create and drop table until yesterday, but now the when I issue the below statement the server is stuck, its showing creating table in process.... and then it hangs till you cancel the operation. Query of table and running the procedures are ok, so I am confused why only create table is having issues.
    CREATE TABLE table1
    ( field1 VARCHAR2(20) );
    Any help at the earliest will be appreciated,
    Thanks

    Just check up your status of the log files
    select * from v$logfile
    If the status is inactive,
    Just do a
    alter system switch logfile
    The alert log should have the problem specified check for the file.
    also try to recreate another user and take a try in table creation:
    SQL> connect sys/******

    SQL> grant connect, resource to scott;_
    SQL> connect scott/tiger

    Could you successfully create the tables?

  • Nested table and inner nested tables (CREATE TABLE)

    Hello everyone,
    I have a problem creating a table with some multilevel user-defined types (and therefore nested tables).
    First of all the objects:
    type top_object is object (
        text_top varchar2(100),
        table_a a_object_tbl,
        table_b b_object_tbl
    type a_object_tbl is table of a_object;
    type a_object is object (
      text_a varchar2(100)
    type b_object_tbl is table of b_object;
    type b_object is object (
      text_b varchar2(100),
      table_c c_object_tbl,
      table_d d_object_tbl
    type c_object_tbl is table of c_object;
    type c_object is object (
      text_c varchar2(100)
    type d_object_tbl is table of d_object;
    type d_object is object (
      text_d varchar2(100)
    );Shortly: The TOP object contains tables of A and B. B contains tables of C and D.
    Okay, now I want to create a table which is containing the TOP object.
    My attempt:
    create table multilevel_table (
      some_value varchar2(100),
      data top_object
    NESTED TABLE top_object.table_a STORE AS data1,
    NESTED TABLE top_object.table_b STORE AS data2
    (NESTED TABLE table_c STORE AS data3,
    NESTED TABLE table_c STORE AS data4);Obviously this does not work (otherwise I would not have been asking you ;) ). If I skip the "second level", so just by removing table_b from top_object and therefore the "inner nested table" it works.
    But on this more complex scenario I don't know the right way or the syntax.
    I would appreciate if I get any help or suggestions from you!

    +1 for Hoek's recommendation of just not using NESTED TABLEs for persistent structures.
    But:
    create table multilevel_table (
      some_value varchar2(100),
      data top_object
    NESTED TABLE data.table_a STORE AS data1,
    NESTED TABLE data.table_b STORE AS data2
    (NESTED TABLE table_c STORE AS data3,
    NESTED TABLE table_d STORE AS data4) ;

  • Oracle 11g R2, CREATE TABLE and QUOTAS

    Hello everyone,
    I need some insight about a strange behavior I found out in Oracle 11gR2. Don't know if I do miss something or if I just found out a security issue with Oracle.
    Oracle Version : 11.2.0.1.0
    The problem is related with the CREATE TABLE privilege and the QUOTA on specific tablespace.
    Please, try this on your systems (if you have some spare time and care to confirm the "bug").
    Create a user, grant only two privileges, CREATE SESSION and CREATE TABLE.
    Grant NO quota on any tablespace.
    Try to create table on any tablespace (except SYSTEM) and tell everyone if it worked or not.
    The oracle documentation states the following :
    To create a relational table in your own schema, you must have the CREATE TABLE system privilege. To create a table in another user's schema, you must have the CREATE ANY TABLE system privilege. Also, the owner of the schema to contain the table must have either space quota on the tablespace to contain the table or the UNLIMITED TABLESPACE system privilege.
    [http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e17118/statements_7002.htm#SQLRF01402]
    The fact is, so far, on two different instances of Oracle 11gR2, my users are not limited in creating tables only where they have quotas but wherever they want except SYSTEM.
    The correct behavior would be to deny the table creation on tablespace where there is no quota but it does not.
    My instance of Oracle 10g are behaving correctly and thus the table creation is denied on tablespace with no quota.
    P.S1 Sorry if this a well known "bug/problem/issue". I've been ridicule on a well known forum for asking the same question. I am in no need to be "spoon filled" as stated on that famous website! I have read the documentation! I have googled a lot!
    P.S2 Even though the table creation work on tablespace with no quota, you still can't insert data in it. So, big picture, the user can't filled the tablespace with irrelevant data but he can creates thousand of tables...!
    Do I miss something?
    Is there any "default" option I have to flag to prevent table creation where it should not?
    ?(?)

    Hi. I'm planning on taking my OCP exam. If the exam ask a question realted to this topic, what is the correct answer?
    create user barry identified barry
    grant create session, create table to barry
    1) barry cannot create a table since he has no quota
    2) barry can create a table
    According to the oracle document, the barry needs quota on the tablespace to create a table. however, according to the link you provided, in 11gR2, barry does not need quota to create a table. He only needs a quota to insert data.

    I am sorry but your question does not seem to make much sense.
    Can you please rephrase your question?

    I want to create a table:

    "name_txt" VARCHAR2(100 BYTE)
    ) COMPRESS FOR OLTP;
    But i get:
    SQL-Fehler: ORA-14464: Kompressionstyp nicht angegeben
    The "compatible"-Parameter is set to 11.1:
    SELECT value
    FROM gv$parameter
    WHERE name LIKE '%compatible%';
    11.1.0.0.0
    Do i have to change something in the database?
    Best regards
