Difference b/w Weblogic and SOA

Hi,
Can anyone briefly differentiate between Weblogic & SOA??
Thanks,

WebLogic is a brand that has several products, the core of which is an Application Server, which is a runtime container for hosting enterprise java applications.
SOA is an architecture strategy for designing/building software into reusable, standards-based services.
You can use SOA principles to build applications that run on WebLogic, and WebLogic has features that help enable that. Ultimately you can just as easily deploy non-SOA applications to WebLogic Server.

  • Do I need to set  system env variables for weblogic and SOA server installation?

    Hi All,
I already have two weblogic application servers on my machine(that were installed by others).
I observed some environment variables were also set in System variables(ORACLE_HOME,WEB_SERVER_HOME etc) section in Env variables section(Start Menu---> Computer --> properties ---).But why do we need to have system environment variables wherein we already have those variables in files like setDomainEnv.bat or/and setSOADoaminEnv.bat for each server.
And one more thing system variables will be applicable for all servers(the whole machine) right. It may spoil the installation of new servers and present servers as variables should be unique to each server.
I want to install weblogic and SOA server installation.
So Can I remove the existing system variables(as they will applicable for every server) and install weblogic and SOA server installation without setting up the environment variables?
Especially I have multiple Weblogic servers,In that case how it would be to have environment variables(JAVA_HOME,WL_HOME,ORACLE_HOME etc)?
Please guide me on this to installl SOA suite .
    Thanks in advance

  • CSS difference in Integrated Weblogic and Development Server

    I'm using JDeveloper 11.1.1.2.0
I noticed that when i was developing in my Integrated WLS, CSS and inline Styles was just working the way it was showing up when i was running tests on my app.
But the moment it was deployed in a development server, inline styles started getting "messed" up. To be exact, a panelBox header element, began aligning in center even though i never declared an inline style nor a CSS to modify it.
I'm not very familiar with Application Server configurations, but i'd like to be pointed in the right direction where i could try to investigate with regards to this matter.
if there are other information i could add in this thread please let me know.
    Thank you.

A separate forums seems to have cleared this issue.

  • What is difference between Weblogic and OSB

    Hi,
    The title says it all.
What is the difference between Oracle WebLogic and Oracle Service Bus?
Assuming both products are part of the Oracle strategy, when would I use each product?
I am really struggling as I cannot find a link with this information.
    Many thanks
    Jason

    Jason,
Weblogic is application server. Service Bus is a product which runs on top of Weblogic.
You can find plenty information about both products on the web.

can anyone point out big differences between BPM suite and SOA Suite?
    regards chris

    There are no difference.
BPM Suite 11g is deployed on top of SOA Suite 11g and it uses the Human Workflow of SOA Suite only.
You will see additional functionalities in Human Workflow if you are having a BPM suite instead of SOA Suite like Business Calendar, Protected Flex Fields, Application Roles, AMX functionalities will be enabled by default, etc.

  • Debuggin with WebLogic and VisualCafe

I am developing Java Classes that run on WebLogic 5.1 using VisualCafe.
Basically, I have a project that generates one jar file that WebLogic points
to. I have JSP's that use classes in that jar file. I am trying to figure
out how I can configure WebLogic and/or VisualCafe so that I can step
through the code running on WebLogic when I call the JSP's. I played around
with the remote debugging but could not seem to get it working. Any help
    would be appreciated.

    Hi ,
It seems to be a issue with the environment variable CLASSPATH. To proceed further , Can you tell us the Weblogic and SOA verison which is installed on your machine / Server ? Also get us the value of your environment variables ORACLE_HOME ,  MIDDLEWARE_HOME , CLASSPATH & PATH.

  • Difference between SOA Suite 64 Bit and SOA Suite 32 Bit

    Hi,
I am new to SOA. I want to install SOA Suite 64 Bit on my laptop which 64 Bit system and has Window 8 64 Bit.
I am curious to know that what is the difference between SOA Suite 64 Bit and SOA Suite 32 Bit.
Are there different installations available for 64 Bit and 32 Bit?
    Or
Installations are same for 64 Bit and 32 Bit but it's only depends on whether JDK is 64 Bit or 32 Bit.
    Thanks,
    Prashant Jain

    Hi Anatoli,
Thank you for your quick response. I really appreciate it.
I can download the latest SOA Suite but still I am curious to know that how can I use the same SOA Suite which I have as 64 Bit.
    Steps may be,
    1. Install JDK 64 Bit.
    2. Install the same weblogic with -D64 option.
    3. Install the rest of the software (most probably downloaded for Window 32 Bit not for generic 64 Bit).
Will this make SOA Suite installation 64 Bit? Apologize if I am keep asking silly questions
    Thanks,

I crated this thread to inform users about some issues with the
Oracle WebLogic Integration's Custom Control and SOA Suite Spring Component
    tutorial from
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/architect/soa-suite-series/wli_custom_control_spring_component.html
    - Fig. 6 doesn't agree with what's just above. This step isn't necessary because it can be create automatically when you make a class.
    - Fig. 11 shows the package
    sample.oracle.otn.soaessentials.javainteg
and the class should be placed in
    sample.oracle.otn.soaessentials.javainteg.impl
    - The Business Tier -> Spring 2.5 might not be available. Extensions steps steps should be given.
    - Fig. 15 When lgger-context is created in Jdev 11.1.1.3.0 the Spring context is created in

while in the sample project it is in
    /mywork/SOASuiteWLIEssentials/JavaIntegration
    - Fig 18 has incorrect class name.
    - Fig 19 is incorrect: there is no Spring 2.5 SCA in Jdev 11.1.1.3.0; there is only WebLogic SCA. Where is the canvas mentioned above?
    - Fig 28 logger-context.xml is not where it is displayed in the fig. It is /src/Meta-Inf/.
    - Most of the fig from the deployment are not up to date.
    - I don't understand the need for the portion:
"Implementing the use case in WLI" up to
"Implementing the use case in SOA Suite"
It confused me when I tried to follow the tutorial.

  • Differences b/w Oracle Workshop WebLogic and Oracle Eclipse Enterprise Pack

What are the differences between the Oracle Workshop Studio for WebLogic and the Oracle Eclipse Enterprise Pack

While both OEPE and Workshop are Eclipse-based IDEs, they are in fact separate products with some similarities
Both products provide tooling for webapp and Java EE development for Weblogic Server but OEPE is Oracle's strategic Eclipse-based solution and new features are released as OEPE plugins. One goal for OEPE is to cover and eventually exceed Workshop's feature set. You can start to see that today in OEPE 11g's JPA, Spring, and Weblogic Server. For example, JPA support in OEPE 11g is available on more project types, like EJB and Utility Projects, and has better Entity source code completion and validation against the schema. OEPE's Weblogic Server support includes new graphical editors for the common deployment descriptors, like weblogic.xml, which simplifies adding new content, validation, and accessing context sensitive help.
Also, with OEPE we are more active in the Eclipse community with participation in WTP projects like JSF Tools and Dali. In fact, in Eclipse 3.5 the new JPA Entity generation wizards were originally developed as part of OEPE 11g and contributed to WTP.
Finally, if you need support for the latest Eclipse, OEPE's frequent release schedule keeps us supporting new Eclipse versions much faster than we were able to with Workshop.
If you are debating between OEPE and Workshop for new projects, I would definitely recommend that you give OEPE a try.

  • Difference between ESOA and SOA Middle ware

    Hi All
Can anybody explain me the difference between ESOA and SOA Middle Ware?
    Thanks
    SIM

    Hi SIM,
SOA and ESOA are not middlewares.
    They are architectures.
    SOA is Service Oriented Architecture
ESOA is same as SOA with some business semantics which is initiated by SAP to reduce the complexity of business process and problems.
Middleware is any tool which is used to integrate different technologies and platform like XI .
XI is a middleware tool which supports SOA and ESOA. I.e by using SOAP adapter you can expose web services which can have business meaning also.
    Hope this helps.

  • Difference between Oracle BPEL PM and SOA server suite

    Dear Experts,
Right now I am having JDeveloper 10.1.3.4 & Oracle BPEL PM Server 10.1.3.1 with me. Is that two enough to build Business Rules Engine with BPEL process & Human Task Also I having very big question that
Oracle BPEL PM Server and SOA server suite are same or different.
Bcoz, right now I'm have installed only Oracle BPEL PM server.. I didn't see or have SOA server suite.
    http://localhost:9700/BPEL/console --------> BPEL console
http://localhost:9700/em ---------> BPEL Enterprise Manager or SOA Enterprise Manager
    Please suggest me.
    Thanks,
    Rajesh

    Hi Rajesh,
1--> Right now I am having JDeveloper 10.1.3.4 & Oracle BPEL PM Server 10.1.3.1 with me. Is that two enough to build Business Rules Engine with BPEL process & Human Task.
No, Oracle Business Rules is part of Application Server and as such is installed with SOA Suite. Though with your current Jdev and BPEL PM you can build BPEL Process with Human Task.
2--> Oracle BPEL PM Server and SOA server suite are same or different.
Oracle SOA Suite is a set of tools ( BPEL PM, Oracle Service Bus, Business Rules, CEP, BAM, Oracle Web Services Manager and Jdeveloper).
Oracle BPEL PM is just a component for Orchestration of WebServices.
    thanks

  • What are all difference between 11g Mediator and 10g Oracle service bus.

    hi all ,
Apart from SCA concept , storing location
is thr any other difference between 11g Mediator and 10g Oracle service bus ?
    thx in advance..

11g introduces the SCA architecture for building the service infrastructure.
    SOA 11g uses:-
    1. Uses the weblogic Server and BEA Aqualogic Service Bus (ALSB) for the Oracle Service Bus.
    2. BPEL uses scalable DOM with reduced memory usage.
    3. New adapters and leverage for Java 2 Connector Architecture (J2CA)
    4. BAM finally ported from .Net to J2EE and is part of the service infrastructure
    5. Oracle Web Services Management built into SOA 11g service infrastructure
    6. New adapters and leverage for Java 2 Connector Architecture (J2CA). Tighter integration with E-Business Suite & large payload support.
    7. Business Rules in SOA 10g business rules are managed using the Rules Author & in SOA 11g business rules are managed using JDeveloper and SOA composer
