Difference between Business Objects products

We have add-on applicaion on R/3 System and use it to gerate some reports, queries, analysis with in that application. We are exploring how Business Objects could be useful to enhance this application's output.  We don't have BW system.  This is just on R/3 system only.
From my limited knowledge about BusinessObjects, I was thinking to decide using one of the following product.
SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise Premium (User) or
SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise Prof. for Query, Reporting, Analysis (User)
I would appreciate if you share your thoughts about difference between these two products.   Is this right product or any other BusinessObject product we should consider.
Thanks,
Digesh Joshi

SAP is offering variety of licensing polices with taking consideration of SAP with NW BI, SAP without NW BI and non SAP but BO customer in mind : Single licensing if someone choose full fledge service offering otherwise there is different segment wise licensing also there. Eg. someone wants to go only for premium service on reporting also feasible but he will not get other services.
SAP BO portfolio covers four prduct category
BI Solution ( BI solution enables Advance analytics, dashboard & visualization, query reporting & analysis and reporting)
GRC Solution (GRC solution detail service offering includes Access control, Global trade services,
Process control, risk management and Sustainability performance management.)
EPM Solution (EPM solution detail service offering includes financial consolidation, Financial
information management, intercompany, planning & consolidation, profitability and
cost management, spend performance management, strategy management and
supply chain performance mgt.)
IM Solution ( IM solution detail service offering includes Data integrator, data quality, data services,
Text analysis, data insight , data quality link/ connector and Data federator.)
Hope this will help you.

  • Difference between Business Objects Explorer and Polestar

    Hi all,
can anyone help me out with the main differences between Business Objects Explorer and Polestar.
    thanks & regards
    immanuel.

Explorer is the new product name for Polestar.  There have been a few versions of Explorer released since it was called Polestar, but you can find the latest 'whats new' doc here which lists the latest additions:
    http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexplXI32/en/exp32_whats-new_en.pdf
For one, Explorer now comes in two editions... Standard and Accelerated.  The Explorer Standard edition allows reporting off of Universes, just as the original Polestar product did.  Explorer Accelerated allows reporting off of SAP BWA indexes as well as Business Objects universes.  Both versions now allow uploading of excel files to report off of.  You can export an Information Space to a Webi doc or Excel file.  Users can now save favorite links to an Information Space.  Sorting has been improved as well as graphing functions and overall display.  You'll have to install the latest build of Explorer - "Explorer 3.2 SP1" and compare.  I don't know of a document or matrix that compares Polestar to Explorer.  The two are basically the same product with a number of enhancements added to the Explorer line.

  • Difference Between Business Object And Class Object

    Hi all,
Can any one tel me the difference between business object and class Object....
    Thanks...
    ..Ashish

    Hello Ashish
A business object is a sematic term whereas a class (object) is a technical term.
Business objects are all important objects within R/3 e.g. sales order, customer, invoice, etc.
The business objects are defined in the BOR (transaction SWO1). The have so-called "methods" like
    BusinessObject.Create
    BusinessObject.GetDetail
    BusinessObject.Change
which are implemented (usually) by BAPIs, e.g.:
    Business Object = User
    User.Create => BAPI_USER_CREATE1
    User.GetDetail => BAPI_USER_GET_DETAIL
CONCLUSION: Business Object >< Class (Object)

  • Difference between Business objects Entprise and crystal report server

    hello,
I have to develop reports which will be used by a group of 100 to 150 users and total reports are 7 and each report will be around 100-150 pages each. So i am in the process of evaluvation BOE and CR server. Can any body help me out in this.
    Prem
    Trying something new

    Hello Prem,
The Concurrent Access License is per-user logon to Crystal Report Server or BusinessObjects Enterprise.
Each User logon will increment the CAL.  If a User logs on twice, then CAL is increased by two.  A CAL will not be released until a User logs off.  If the maximum number of CALs have been attained, further logon attempts will be denied.
With a Named User License, you can have a number of active Users up to the number of NUL that you've purchased.  The named user can connect multiple times to the system.  If you would like to add additional Users beyond the NUL that you have, you either have to purchase further NUL, or disable a User already there.
In either case, the CAL or NUL won't work like the CPL that you have with the JRC - license management is handled by the Enterprise system.
With Licensing for the Server or Enterprise, each user accessing reports must be named within the system.
    Sincerely,
    Ted Ueda

  • Difference between  business area and profit center

    hi all
could you please tell me about difference between business area and
    profitcenter.
    thanks,
    regards,
    chennuri.

    HI
    Read below
Profit Center - The profit center view shows the various
internal areas of responsibilities. Objects such as cost
centers, materials, etc can be used for profit center
analysis. Profit center can be used to determine the
revenues, costs, and profitability for specfic areas of
    responsibility.
Business Area - Business area forms an important part of
external reporting. Analysis of various segments, product
divisions, regions etc is possible using business areas.
    Business Area: This is optional
This can be used cross compane codes
    This is for Internal Purpose
It is not Legal Entity like Co Code
The transation entered in Business are, Debit total will
    not tally with credit total
Since it is used for segment wise or area wise or line wise
this is used for internal report purpose only .
Balance Shhet and P & L stataments can be drawn on segment
    wise
Profit Centre: Generally in terms of SAP or Finance the
meaning of Profit centre is to know the profitabilty.
In same manner , The managers  wants to know the ROI from
their investments, obviously we nned to use the tool.
This ROI may be geographically or area wise or division
wise. P.C provided us profitablity of the particular area
for internal purpose ( Only for Internal )
Business Area is an optional entry.Whenever company wants
financial statements businessarea wise we can maintain
BAs.And also we can maintain BA as Segment Wise,Product
    Wise,Geographical Location wise.
Profit center is used to know the profits of companies.PC
is also used for to know the profits as aProduct
    wise,Segment wise,geographical location wise.If anything
wrong inthis answer plz correct me..
    Hope this helps
    Good Luck

  • Difference between business blueprint and functional spec

    hello
can somebody please tell me the difference between business blueprint and functional spec and how they are interrelated
    Thanks

    Hi Comandante,
Business Blue print is a detailed documentation of the requirements gathered from client (The objects we need to develop are modified depending upon clients requirements). It represents the business process requirements of the company.  It is an agreed statement of how the company intends to run its business within SAP system.
Functional specifications (functional specs), in the end, are the blueprint for how you want a particular report and transaction to look and work. It details what the report will do, how a user will interact with it, and what it will look like. By creating a blueprint of the report or transaction first, time and productivity are saved during the development stage because the programmers can program instead of also working out the logic of the user-experience. It will also enable you to manage the expectations of your clients or management, as they will know exactly what to expect. Functional Spec streamlines the development process.
A functional specification  is a formal document used to describe in detail for software developers a product's intended capabilities, appearance, and interactions with users. It guidelines and continuing reference point as the developers write the programming code.
Other processes include Requirements, Objectives,Logic Specification,User documentation,The Final Product.
Hope this Helps, Revert for any further info.
    Cheers,
    Tanish

  • What is the difference between the object&realationship.

1.what is the difference between the object&realationship.

What is the difference between "cost object" and
"cost center"? Please see the context below. It says
that cost object and cost center are not the same.
    Cost objects :
The units of output resulting from the value-added process with which costs are identified according to how they are incurred.
Cost objects can be independent entities (called cost object IDs), or they can represent other entities (such as orders or projects).
The functions of preliminary costing, simultaneous costing, and final costing can be performed on cost objects.
The following cost objects can be used in the SAP System:
    Product cost collectors
    Production orders
    Process orders
    Cost object IDs
    Sales order items
Cost center is an controlling object and Cost object is also one of the controlling objects. Other controlling objects are
Cost centers (for account assignment of costs)
    · Orders
    · Projects
    · Networks
    · Make-to-order sales orders
    · Cost objects
    · Profitability segments
    · Real Estate Objects
    · Business Processes
Primary costs are transferred from external
accounting and classified according to managerial
accounting perspectives. If the primary costs are
direct costs, then they are assigned to cost objects.
Need not be. They can be assigned to any of the controlling obejcts. Generally for primay costs we use Cost center as the controlling object. we can also use IO in which case u have to resort to peridic or full settlement. Apart from Cost center other objects require either periodic or full settlement of the cost collected.> If they are overhead costs, then they are assigned to
cost centers or overhead cost orders. The system then
allocates them using internal allocation techniques,
    according to their source
Cost centers or other objects collects theprimary costs and then can be allocated to other objects based on the sender receiver relationship u define.

  • Difference between Business service, Business system and Business process

    Hi,
Can anyone tell me the difference between Business service, Business system and Business process?
    Thanks,
    Harikumar. S

    Hi,
    <b>Business system</b>
It is a logical system from a business point of view.
One or more logical systems that belong together from a business point of view is called a group of Business system group. A business system group represents a unit within a company or organization that can be defined according to legal, economic, administrative or geographic factors.
The objects in a business system group are uniquely identified by a uniform numbering system.
    <b>Business process</b>
Business procedure within an enterprise that uses resources and can involve activites from a number of different cost centers in a controlling area.
When executing a business process, activities can be utilized for several cost centers of a controlling area.
    <b>Business service</b>
    It’s a third party system.
All these belong to a Business Scenario which is
Description of the flow of business processes according to a business typology. A business scenario represents a template for a business process, which runs within a particular area of a company process. All processes required to completely process the task are listed in chronological order in the scenario. Business scenarios can be described graphically, in either aggregated or detailed form (EPC). Example: Direct sale to industrial recipient

  • Difference between business area and costcenter

    Hi All,
Could u pls let me know the differences between Business Area and Cost Center.
    Awaiting ur valuable responses.
    Thanks & Regards
    Chennuri

    Hi,
i am giving a realtime information on business areas and cost centers.
For our company we have 25 branches. in sap we treat all of our branches as a seperate business area. the reason why we maintain business area. at the month end or year end financial statemensts are generated on company code basis and business area base. so we consider branches as a business area.
Cost center is like a cost object.
    Hope this is clear,

Can anyone let me know the difference between
    Business Event -> http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/integration.1111/e10224/obe_intro.htm#CHDIBHBE

    Complex Event Processing->http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/doc.1111/e14476/overview.htm#g1024628
    Are these 2 same?
    Thanks

    Hi.
Complex Event Processing Server(CEP) is an entire Product.
Business Event/Event Delivery Network is just a Messaging/Event component part of the SOA Infrastructure.
So, if u r interested on event correlation from different sources, high performance on analyzing those events + operations among the data generated on those events, CEP is ur option.
    Hope this helps

  • Difference between business process, sales process and order process

what is the difference between business process, sales process and order process?

    Dear Gopala,
business process is a general definition of the process which you have:
for example, you get an order, you have no goods, but you can produce them, you start an assambly processing, the production order will be created, then the goods will be prepatred, then the delivery will be created, the goods issue booked then your customer gets thwe goods and send the delivery confirmation, you create an invoice etc.etc.
sales process is a part of  a business process.
Sales process shows how you sell the goods, there are different sales document  categories to do this: sales orders, contracts, scheduling agreements etc.
order process is only one of possibilities of the sales process.
Order process is used if you get really a one-time (or at lease not on a regular basis many times) the simple orders where your customer says what goods he would like to receive and when. Then you create a sales order (in dialog transaction VA01) and can create a delivery. There are different types of sales orders in the standard. The customizing of sales order types is available under the transaction VOV8.
I hope, this info help you a little bit further to understand SD design.
    Kind regards,
