Difference between Check and where statement.

Hello everybody i know that where clause is efficient than check condition.
But i want to know if in the following example,
     even after finding SBOOK_WA-CARRID = 'LH' ,
DOES THE CHECK CONDITION TERMINATES?? OR KEEP SEARCING TILL THE END OF INTERNAL TABLE?
IN THE 2nd EXAMPLE,
DOES THE WHERE CLAUSE EXHIBIT THE SAME PHENOMENON?
1st example:
SELECT * FROM SBOOK INTO SBOOK_WA.
  CHECK: SBOOK_WA-CARRID = 'LH' AND
         SBOOK_WA-CONNID = '0400'.
ENDSELECT.
2nd example:
SELECT * FROM SBOOK INTO SBOOK_WA
  WHERE CARRID = 'LH' AND
        CONNID = '0400'.
ENDSELECT.

Hi,
Check statement will give low performance compare to where.
B'cause After selecting the record for database table you are checking the value.
WHERE: At the time of selection records from table you are checking. So based on condition record will select otherwise it will go for nect record with that database connection only.
In first example. : It will terminate the selection. No next search...
Second : it will continue the search....

  • What are the differences between delete and truncate statements.

i need few differences between executing both the above statements.like what is the effect they are going to make on the data in the table and regarding the table
    spaces

One of the main diffrence TRUNCATE is DDL while DELETE is DML thats why
you neednt to commit/rollbacked after TRUNCATING table.
If you have master/child table then TRUNCATING master table will not concerned
with child table data ,it will concerned with FK enabled KEY truncate is DDL.
While DML will concerned with detail table data when deleting master table data.

  • Wat is the difference between Check and Uncheck in SU24?

I am confused since documentation says :
UnCheck(U) :The check for corresponding authorization object is always executed. Field values are not displayed in the Profile Generator.
Check(C):Check always executed. Field values are not displayed in the Profile Generator
Wat is the difference between the two ? Any thoughts       delete

Unchecked just means the check indicator has not been set.  It should not have an impact on the way the transaction works other than the fact that the object will not be pulled into PG for the given transaction(s) for which it was set to unchecked and thus may not allow a user access.
    Your example:
"For instance if you uncheck all the auth objects in a particular TCODE ( u cant do that with HR and Basis objects) then if u add it to a role then the person will not be able to execute anything in that TCODE"
If I was giving a user access to a tcode and I did not want them to perform some of the HR or basis functions I would inactivate the sensitive object(s) within the role.  In most cases I would not change the check indicator in SU24 to unchecked.  This way when you add the transaction to a user who <i>should </i>have access the object is correctly added.
Personally I would not change the check indicator to C instead of CM to make the role <i>look </i>neater.  I would inactivate the object in the role.

  • QUERY DIFF BETWEEN CHECK AND IF

    Hi all,
what is the difference between check and if.
Which one is advisable to use in dialog program for field statment
    Thanks
    PREETI

    Hi,
    they work in different ways.
    IF..ENDIF.
If u use "if .. endif" the program continues after the endif, and execute the code bewteen if and endif is the condition is fulfilled.
    CHECK
If u use check, and if the condition is not fullfill, all the lines after the instructions will not be executed.
With check instruction, un can exit from a form before the end of it.
    For example :
    form use_check using value.
    if value gt 0.
      value = value * 100.
    endif.
    endform.
in this case u could use check.
    form use_check using value.
    check value gt 0.
    value = value * 100.
    endform.
When use one instead of the other? depends on wich u have to do.
    Hope it helps

Authentification is a more generic term. It's generally applicable to any situation where you check that information comes from where it claims to come from.
Login is just one form of authentification.

  • Credit Management: Difference Between Static and Dynamic Credit Check

    Hi,
Could anyone tell the difference Between Static and Dynamic Credit Check?
According to website: http://www.sap-basis-abap.com/sd/difference-between-static-and-dynamic-credit-check.htm ... this is the answer:
    ====================
    Simple Credit Check : Tr.Code - FD32
It Considers the Doc.Value + Open Items.
Doc.Value : Sales Order Has been saved but not delivered
Open Item : Sales Order has been saved , Delivered, Billed & Transfered to FI, but not received the payment from the customer.
Static Credit Check it checks all these doc value & check with the credit limit
    1) Open Doc.Value / Sales Order Value : Which is save but not delievered
    2) Open Delivery Doc.Value : Which is delivered but not billed
    3) Open Billing Doc.Value : Which is billed but not posted to FI
    4) Open Item : Which is transfered to FI but not received from the customer.
Dynamic Credit Check         1) Open Doc
                                                2) Open Delivery
                                                3) Open Billing
                                                4) Open Items
                                                5) Horizon Period = Eg.3Months
Here the System will not consider the above 1, 2, 3 & 4 values for the lost 3 months.
    ====================
Question 1: Could you further explain the above information, if there is any?
Question 2:: What is the Tcode to customize settings of:
    a) Simple Credit Check (isn't this same with b) below?)
    b) Static Credit Check
    c) Dynamic Credit Check

    Hi Tanish,
Diff between Static and Dynamic Filters.
    Example One at report Level.
Create a variable for a Infoobject say ,Material .
1)In the Query Designer and if u restrict it to some 10 materials at query level, the report will display for only those 10 materials only. This is Static Filter.UR AHrdcoding it to those materials. You cant change them at Query Run time.i.e not changeable by user.
2)If u give the variable as input ,and when u run the query ,u can can choose the material, may 10 may be 1 or may 20 .It is dynamic.Changeable by user at run time
Example Two at DTP and Start Routine Level, say Document Type.
1)If u give filters in Start routine it is Static as u cannot change it in Production, not changeable by user.
2)f u give filters in DTP it is Dyanamic as u can change it in Production.U can give any doc type,Changeable by user at run time.
    Hope it is Understood.

  • What's the difference between "PreparedStatement" and "Statement"?

What's the difference between "PreparedStatement" and "Statement"?
    Which is better??????

Read the docs for the two classes. The differences are apparent there.
Which one is better depends on your needs. I think that constructing and executing a PreparedStatement can be a bit less performant than just a Statement, if you're only executing the query one time. But I don't think that difference will normally be noticable in the context of a given application.
Additionally, if you have to pass any dates or strings to the query, you'll want PreparedStatement's parameters, rather than trying to format and escape things in the query string.

  • Difference between SPL and Embargo check

    Hi,
What is the difference between Embargo and SPL screening.
    Regards
    Gaurav Jain

    Hi Gaurav,
    Embargo
An embargo is a government prohibition against the shipment of particular products to a particular country for economic or political reasons.
SAP Global Trade Services (SAP GTS) provides an embargo service that helps you manage import and export processes in global trade. The embargo service automatically checks whether there are any "critical" business partners contained in your customs document, that is, whether the business partners are in an embargo situation. If there is an embargo situation, the document is blocked for further processing. Essentially, the embargo service enables you to map all possible combinations of legal regulations using three functions in combination with one another
    Sanctioned Party List Screening
A sanctioned party list contains a list of persons and companies with whom trade is prohibited by law. These boycott lists are issued by government agencies and can be obtained from data providers. All traders must comply with these lists.
Sanctioned party list screening lets you compare the addresses of your business partners (such as the consignee) with the sanctioned party lists automatically prior to goods export. It is a system-independent solution that performs and logs the SPL check and is fully integrated into the complete business process.
    Hope this information helps

  • Difference between check function module and start condition

    Hello Rob,
In  previous answer u said thr is no difference between check function module and startcondition but there is a difference between checkfunction module and start condition.
Before the workflow is triggering can u able to check the conditions in startcondition. The startcondition can check the condition only after the workflow has been triggered.
But in check function module u can check the condtion before the workflow got triggered.

    Kjetil,
Dont' fall for it, these two (unless deephak and catherina are the same person...)  are just spamming the forum.

As you've correctly established, even the SAP documentation contradicts their nonsense. A start condition is implemented as a check function, so there is no difference; and NO workflow is started at any time if they fail.

    Hi Nishant Arora,
Modify: It works in performing two actions.
    They are: Insert + Update.
For Example If a record that is exited in database, so you are modifying that record, it updates that particular record.
Similarly, If the is not existed in the database, you are modifying it, it inserts a new record.
Update: Update means just it updates the status, I mean it only updates the record. It doesn't inserts any new record if that particular record is not present in the database.
These are the cases you need to write these statements.

  • What's the difference between jsp and jsf?

who can tell me what's the difference between jsp and jsf?
I'm puzzled when I found some of the technology in jsp is so similar to the ones in jsp( javaserver page)

    Hi,
Find the difference between JSP and JSF
    1. A developer has more control with JSP, but (should) get easier development with JSF
    2. Event handling is done differently in JSP (HTTP) and JSF (Java)
    3. The UI is designed differently (or should be at least) with JSP (markup) and JSF (components).
    4. The end product should also be defined differently - JSP page versus a JSF application.
Is this the only thing that is need to make a decision for either or? Probably not. There are other pieces that need to be taken in account when deciding which technology to use - tools support, enough components, type of application etc.... At this point there are not enough JSF components (although there are some interesting projects underway - Ajaxfaces, Myfaces, ADF Faces, and WebChart 3d) and enterprise tools support is still limited to a few tools vendor. Looking at our ADF Faces components they are currently available as early access (not production) and demands for these components are stacking up, literally, outside my office doorstep. Although I would love to make them production - now! - it is not a viable solution since we are still checking features and fixing critical bugs.
All this combined - not enough enterprise level components in production, lacking tools support etc... - leave customers in a vacuum where the decision is either to continue with JSP, since it is mature and has a wide developer base, or move forward with JSF not sure if the support, or the developers will be there. This is particularly sensitive to customers that need to get started now and be production by summer.
If you are in this vacuum here are some key points promoting JSF:
    1. Fundamental unit is the Component
    2. Built in event and state management
    3. Component sets can be provided by any vendor
    4. Closer to ASP.Net or Swing development
    5. Choice of UI technology
    6. Scale up (rich clients)
    7. Scale down (mobile devices)
    8. Built into J2EE containers in J2EE 5.0 (tentative)

  • Difference between poh and pov in module pool programming

    hi all,
pls tell me difference between poh and pov and how i check validation in screen

    Hi,
    POV gives you F4 help.
    like:
You can call dialog modules in the POV event using the event keyword PROCESS ON VALUE-REQUEST.
    PROCESS ON VALUE-REQUEST.
      FIELD f MODULE mod.
After the PROCESS ON VALUE-REQUEST statement, you can only use the MODULE statement together with the FIELD statement. When the user chooses F4 for a field f, the system calls the module mod belonging to the FIELD statement. If there is more than one FIELD statement for the same field f, only the first is executed. The module mod is defined in the ABAP program like a normal PAI module. However, the contents of the screen field f are not available, since it is not transported by the FIELD statement during the PROCESS ON HELP-REQUEST event. You can now program your own value lists in the module. However, this procedure is only recommended if it really is not possible to use a search help. Defining search helps is much easier than PROCESS ON VALUE-REQUEST, since the system takes over some of the standard operations, such as getting field contents from the screen. It also ensures that the F4 help has a uniform look and feel throughout the system. Furthermore, it means that you do not have to reassign input help to fields on each screen.
Despite the introduction of search helps (and search help exits), there are still cases in which you need to use parts of the standard F4 functions directly. In this case, there are some standard function modules that you can use in the POV event. They support search helps, as well as all other kinds of input help, and are responsible for data transport between the screen and the input help. These alll  have the prefix F4IF_. The most important are:
    ·        F4IF_FIELD_VALUE_REQUEST
Calls the input help of the ABAP Dictionary dynamically. You can pass the component names of a structure or database table of the ABAP Dictionary to the function module in the import parameters TABNAME and FIELDNAME. The function module starts the ABAP Dictionary input help for this component. All of the relevant screen fields are read. If you specify the import parameters DYNPPROG, DYNPNR, and DYNPROFIELD, the user’s selection is returned to the corresponding field on the screen. If you specify the table parameter RETURN_TAB, the selection is returned into the table instead.
    ·        F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST
This function module displays a value list that you created in an ABAP program. The self-programmed value list is passed to the function module as the table parameter VALUE_TAB. If you specify the import parameters DYNPPROG, DYNPNR, and DYNPROFIELD, the user’s selection is returned to the corresponding field on the screen. If you specify the table parameter RETURN_TAB, the selection is returned into the table instead.
There are also two function modules - DYNP_VALUES_READ and DYNP_VALUES_UPDATE - that can read the values of screen fields and return values to them during the POV event. For further information, refer to the relevant function module documentation.

    like:
If data element supplement documentation is insufficient for your requirements, or you want to display help for program fields that you have not copied from the ABAP Dictionary, you can call dialog modules in the POH event:
    PROCESS ON HELP-REQUEST.
FIELD  is defined in the ABAP program like a normal PAI module. The processing logic of the module must ensure that adequate help is displayed for the field in question. Instead of calling an extra screen with text fields, you should use one of the following function modules to display a suitable SAPscript document:
    HELP_OBJECT_SHOW_FOR_FIELD
This function module displays the data element documentation for components of any structure or database table from the ABAP Dictionary. You pass the name of the component and structure or table to the import parameters FIELD and TABLE.
    HELP_OBJECT_SHOW
Use this function module to display any SAPscript document. You must pass the document class (for example, TX for general texts, DE for data element documentation) and the name of the document to the import parameters DOKCLASS and DOKNAME. For technical reasons, you must also pass an empty internal table with the line type TLINE to the tables parameter of the function module.
