Difference between forward and redirect

difference between forward and send redirect

+ a Redirect will change the URL in the browser, whereas a forward will not.
+ a Redirect can be any URL, whereas a forward has to be directed to a resource within the container,
+ a Redirect MUST be an absolute URL (though the Servlet functions will do this for you).
+ a Redirect, being a new request, triggers filters, whereas a forward does not.

    Difference between sendRedirect and RequestDispatcher?

I have a situation of needing to redirect a request to a URL that is outside of the container. The scenario is the following, we have a simple logging in servlet that takes some POST parameters (username, password, and other values.) Depending on the username and password, the logon request along with all its POST parameters need to be redirected integrally to another machine. How do i do a redirect with all my parameters intact? sendRedirect does not seem to have any (visible to me) mechanism to do this. We cannot send them on the URL as this will reveal things too easily to our users and we don't want them to bookmark the resulting page.
    Thanks for any help,

  • ABST2 - Differences between Assets and G/L accts

    Hi Experts
We are working on ECC 6.0 and INR is our local currency.
At the end of FY 2007 by mistake direct postings were made to Dep Fund Account which is a Recon a/c and FY 2007 was closed
And because of which FI-GL and FI-AA doesnt match by INR 37353.71 (amt posted in above doc) as shown in ABST2
I've referred SAP notes 104567 & 69225 and found the note 69225 relevant to follow as the difference has not resulted in the current or open years.
So we have passed direct entry which is exactly the reversal of entry posted above using ABF1 (INR -37353.71)
After posting the 2nd document, in ABST2 another line has appeared of INR -37353.71. Although the sum for my recon GL is now zero.
The output of ABST2 is as below now -
Sc  Acct no.   BusA  Year  SG  1st local difference  LCurr  Doc.no.    Period
    AS  31100                2009               37,353.71-        INR     W004
    AS  31100                2009               37,353.71         INR     W004       999
When I come out of ABST2 , addition to 1st, error no 2 is also coming which I thought would disappear.
1.Differences between assets and G/L accts in the balance carried forward
         Message no. MQ555
2.Differences between assets and G/L accounts at the key date
         Message no. MQ557
Is still something else needs to be done?
Or can I move ahead as the summation of the difference is now zero?
    Please suggest.
    Kapil

We referred to SAP and they suggeted that the tagging of W004 in both the lines means that now there is no error even system prompts it as error.
So we continued with the transactions and after closing the FY 2009, today when we run ABST2, we dont get any error messages as there is no difference left between Assets & GL.

  • What's the difference between jsp and jsf?

who can tell me what's the difference between jsp and jsf?
I'm puzzled when I found some of the technology in jsp is so similar to the ones in jsp( javaserver page)

    Hi,
Find the difference between JSP and JSF
    1. A developer has more control with JSP, but (should) get easier development with JSF
    2. Event handling is done differently in JSP (HTTP) and JSF (Java)
    3. The UI is designed differently (or should be at least) with JSP (markup) and JSF (components).
    4. The end product should also be defined differently - JSP page versus a JSF application.
Is this the only thing that is need to make a decision for either or? Probably not. There are other pieces that need to be taken in account when deciding which technology to use - tools support, enough components, type of application etc.... At this point there are not enough JSF components (although there are some interesting projects underway - Ajaxfaces, Myfaces, ADF Faces, and WebChart 3d) and enterprise tools support is still limited to a few tools vendor. Looking at our ADF Faces components they are currently available as early access (not production) and demands for these components are stacking up, literally, outside my office doorstep. Although I would love to make them production - now! - it is not a viable solution since we are still checking features and fixing critical bugs.
All this combined - not enough enterprise level components in production, lacking tools support etc... - leave customers in a vacuum where the decision is either to continue with JSP, since it is mature and has a wide developer base, or move forward with JSF not sure if the support, or the developers will be there. This is particularly sensitive to customers that need to get started now and be production by summer.
If you are in this vacuum here are some key points promoting JSF:
    1. Fundamental unit is the Component
    2. Built in event and state management
    3. Component sets can be provided by any vendor
    4. Closer to ASP.Net or Swing development
    5. Choice of UI technology
    6. Scale up (rich clients)
    7. Scale down (mobile devices)
    8. Built into J2EE containers in J2EE 5.0 (tentative)

  • What's the difference between setFollowRedirect() and setinstanceFollowRedi

What's the difference between setFollowRedirect() and setInstanceFollowRedirect() ?????

    Hi there,
setFollowRedirects and setInstanceFollowRedirects both set flags that indicate whether or not the HtppURLConnection should follow a redirect if it receives one from the server that it is connecting to. The difference is that setFollowRedirects() is a static method that changes the behaviour for all instances of the HttpURLConnection class (or more likely the implementation class, HttpURLConnection is abstract) and setInstanceFollowRedirects() just changes it for the instance on which you call it.
BTW: The field set by setFollowRedirects is private (followRedirects) while the flag set by setInstanceFollowDirects is protected and is listed in the API docs (instanceFollowRedirects)
    Hope this helps

  • Differences between assets and G/L accts

Differences between assets and G/L accts in the balance carried forward
    Message no. MQ 555
    Diagnosis
Differences occurred in the balance carried forward when comparing asset summary records and G/L accounts.
    Procedure
Using program RFEWSBAL, select the accounts for which differences occurred. To do this, proceed as follows:
    1. Changeover package: Active package
    Phase: ANALYZE
    Origin of change: AS
    Proceed
    1. Analyze the accounts containing errors using note 104567.
If the document number field contains the entry "W004", this means that although a difference exists in the balance carried forward, this difference was charged off at the key date. Following local currency changeover, the system adjusts the currency differences at the key date only, but not in the balance carried forward.
If the entry "W004" exists for all affected accounts, the status is set to warning instead of error. If the correction at key date described above proves sufficient, you can continue changing over the local currency without additional adjustments in the previous year.
However, SAP does recommend that you make corrections in the previous year in line with note 104567 since this ensures that the balance carried forward is also reconciled.

    Hello,
    There 2 t codes ABST and ABST2.
You have issue if ABST does not match.
ABST2 is as of today t code. Ideally they will match.
    To fix the issue
    execute AFAR
then execute AFAB repeat run dep.
Normally your will asset balance will match with GL

  • Graph axes assignment: performance difference between ATTR_ACTIVE_XAXIS and ATTR_PLOT_XAXIS

    Hi,
I am using a xy graph with both x axes and both y axes. There are two possibilities when adding a new plot:
    1) PlotXY and SetPlotAttribute ( , , , ATTR_PLOT_XAXIS, );
    2) SetCtrlAttribute ( , , ATTR_ACTIVE_XAXIS, ) and PlotXY
I tend to prefer the second method because I would assume it to be slightly faster, but what do the experts say?
    Thanks!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Wolfgang,
thank you for your interesting question.
First of all I want to say, that generally spoken, using the command "SetCtrlAttribute"is the best way to handle with your elements. I would suggest using this command when ever it is possible.
Now, to your question regarding the performance difference between "SetCtrlAttribute" and "SetPlotAttribute".
I think the performance difference occures, because in the background of the "SetPlotAttribute" command, another function called "ProcessDrawEvents" is executed. This event refreshes your plot again and again in the function whereas in the "SetCtrlAttribute" the refreshing is done once after the function has been finished. This might be a possible reason.
For example you have a progress bar which shows you the progress of installing a driver:
"SetPlotAttribute" would show you the progress bar moving step by step until installing the driver is done.
"SetCtrlAttribute" would just show you an empty bar at the start and a full progress bar when the installing process is done.
I think it is like that but I can't tell you 100%, therefore I would need to ask our developers.
If you want, i can forward the question to them, this might need some times. Also, then I would need to know which version of CVI you are using.
Please let me now if you want me to forward your question.
    Have a nice day,

  • Whats the Difference between DLP and IRM?

Hey guys, can someone explain to me what's the difference between DLP and IRM in Exchange  2013, I have to protect some messages sent from my managers so that unauthorized users can't read the messages and they can't forward
    them externally.
    Thanks.

    Hi Radray,
We can use IRM features to apply persistent protection to messages and attachments in Exchange 2013.
IRM uses Active Directory Rights Management Services, an information protection technology in Windows Server 2008 and later. With the IRM features in Exchange 2013, the organization and users can control the rights recipients have for e-mail.

The dispatcher forwards each request it receives to a work process of the appropriate type. If all the processes of this type are occupied, the dispatcher stores the request in a queue.

    ·        The number of requests currently waiting. Usually this should be 0.
    ·        The total number of requests waiting, since the server has been running.

  • Difference between IntegrationServer and Integration Engine

    Hi,
Could you please provide me difference between IntegrationServer and Integration Engine.
functionality of both and what are the runtime environments exits in XI Server.
Could you please show me digaram how message flow from
XI server i.e., through which engines.. what is the input and output of each engine.
    Thanks,
    RamuV

    Hello Ramu,
    Go through this link..
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/e1/0c733cb7d61952e10000000a11405a/frameset.htm
    Use
Two SAP XI 3.0 Integration Servers are used to exchange messages between the system landscapes of two business partners.
    Description
An SAP XI  Integration Server of a business partner is connected to the SAP XI  Integration Server of another business partner. Both use SAP XI  message protocol to send or receive messages.
When an SAP XI  Integration Server receives a message from another Integration Server it understands the message format and so processes the message.
    Example
A business partner that uses SAP XI  wants to send a message to another business partner who also uses SAP XI .
    ·        The message is sent between the Integration Servers in SAP XI  message format
    ·        The Integration Server of the second business partner then sends the message to the relevant business system
    Integration Engine
    Purpose
The Integration Engine enables you to process XML messages exchanged between applications in heterogeneous system landscapes. Both applications of SAP components and external applications can communicate with the Integration Engine.
Using adapters, the Integration Engine can also process IDocs (Intermediate Documents) and RFCs (Remote Function Calls). This option is available for applications that have already defined IDocs or RFCs, as well as for applications of SAP components that do not yet have access to the proxy generation functions.
    Integration
The Integration Engine is the runtime environment of the SAP Exchange Infrastructure. The following are examples of other important parts of this infrastructure:
    ·        Proxy Generation
    ·        Integration Repository
    ·        Integration Directory
The integration processes involved can take place between heterogeneous system components within a company, as well as between business partners outside company boundaries.
    Features
The Integration Engine, as a runtime component of SAP Exchange Infrastructure, has the task of receiving, processing, and forwarding XML messages. During message processing, collaboration agreements are evaluated, the receivers are determined, and mapping activities are executed.
The individual processing steps are called pipeline services and are defined in pipelines. It is the task of the Integration Engine to process these pipelines correctly and consistently. To guarantee this, you must configure the Integration Engine accordingly and monitor the message processing. Both event-driven message processing and prioritized message processing are possible.

  • Difference between jsf and jspx

    Hi
We can develop a adf page in either jsf or jspx. What is the difference between jsf and jspx?
which is more compatible in adf and why?

    Hi.
The main difference in the version of JSF you are running on. In JSF 1.2 and lower, you built JSP pages. The JSPX extension means it was a JSP page using XML markup. This was (and still is) the default option in JDeveloper 11gR1.
JSF pages, introduced in JSF 2.0, use another view declation language called « Facelets ». They are the default in JDeveloper 11gR2 and will be in 12c as well.
Both standards are compatible with ADF. If you are building a new application, JSF is the way to go as it will offer you more flexibility and represents the best option going forward.

  • Difference between setWhereClauseParams and setWhereClause

    Hi All,
can anyone explain me the difference between setWhereClauseParams and setWhereClause ? and
difference between setForwardURL and forwardImmediately() ?
    diffrenece between firePartialAction and fireAction?
    Thanks
    Senthur
Edited by: senthur on Jul 28, 2012 3:55 PM

    Hi Senthur,
    My understanding is as below:
    1) setWhereClauseParams and setWhereClause :
    ===========================================
setWhereClauseParams: talks about the parameters which we are using in the where clause.
setWhereClause: talks about the complete where clause it containd parameters & order by clause etc....
    2) setForwardURL and forwardImmediately:
    ========================================
setForwardURL: when we call this in the page, it will perform the soft close on the current page then forwards to next page.
forwardImmediately: when we call this in the current page, immediately control will transfer to the next page, without considering the current page state.
    3) firePartialAction and fireAction:
    =====================================
firePartialAction: when control encounters this, only limited values(from the region which is setup as PPR) will be passed to CO. this will reduce the network traffic.
fireAction: In this case, all the values from the page will be submitted to CO.
    Regards,
    Naren.

Null means, the referential type is not assigned (doesn't refer) to a specific object. The empty String is just another object though, so seeing it or pointing it out as something special when it actually isn't at all (no more special than new Integer(0) or new Object[0]) just adds to the confusion.

  • Difference between GUI_UPLOAD and WS_UPLOAD

    Hi,
Please make me clear about the difference between GUI_UPLOAD and WS_UPLOAD. In which cases we need to use these modules...??
    Thanks,
    Satish

I would suggest to always use the GUI_UPLOAD.  I say this because this is the function module which is used in the GUI_UPLOAD method of the class CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES.   Really, you should probably use the class/method instead of the function module.
      data: filename type string.
      filename = p_file.
      call method cl_gui_frontend_services=>gui_upload
             exporting

  • Difference between char and varchar, also the difference between varchar2

    Hi,
Can anyone explain me the difference between char and varchar, and also the difference between varchar and varchar2...

Varchar2 is variable width character data type, so if you define column with width 20 and insert only one character to tis column only, one character will be stored in database. Char is not variable width so when you define column with width 20 and insert one character to this column it will be right padded with 19 spaces to desired length, so you will store 20 characters in the dattabase (follow the example 1). Varchar data type from Oracle 9i is automaticlly promoted to varchar2 (follow example 2)
    Example 1:
    SQL> create table tchar(text1 char(10), text2 varchar2(10))
    2 /
    Table created.
    SQL> insert into tchar values('krystian','krystian')
    2 /
    1 row created.
    SQL> select text1, length(text1), text2, length(text2)
    2 from tchar
    3 /
    TEXT1 LENGTH(TEXT1) TEXT2 LENGTH(TEXT2)
    krystian 10 krystian 8
    Example 2:
    create table tvarchar(text varchar(10))
    SQL> select table_name,column_name,data_type
    2 from user_tab_columns
    3 where table_name = 'TVARCHAR'
