Difference between Statement and PreparedStatement

according to jdk doc
A SQL statement is precompiled and stored in a PreparedStatement object. This object can then be used to efficiently execute this statement multiple times.
where exactly statement is precompiled?

The compiled statement is stored in Oracle's data dictionary. If you have permissions, you can view this information by SELECTing from V$SQL or V$SQLAREA. Hope this helps.

Most of the differences are either those, or consequences of those (such as better performance, greater security, and simpler use for PreparedStatement). Serious programmers should almost always use PreparedStatement.
The only other thing I know of is trivial: you can get ResultSetMetaData from a PreparedStatement without actually executing a query.

I always heard in these forums that PreparedStatements were slower, had more overhead if you only need to Query the database once(not reuse). I did some testing to try to see what the difference in performance between the Statement and PreparedStatement would be. I only tested whether the Statement is faster than PreparedStatement on a <b>single</b> query:

Conclusion: based on my little experiment the performance of a single query to the database takes about the same time using either a PreparedStatement. So don't eliminate the use a PreparedStatement because you think it would be slower and have more overhead on a single query.
margin for error: pretty high :)

my requiremen is to have three condition checkec while mofifying or updating from a internal table
the three fields are

status
date these all are primary key in the database table
so which sould i use modify or update
there might be entry already existing in database table or new entry to be created if already existin it should check on the primary keys and updatat if not it should add a record
pls suggest whihc to use and how to implement the check on teh threee primary key
like if modify ztable from table it_test
now where condition ? can be used or not with modify? and if yes how
if not should i use update will update create a new entry if no entry is there and please give syntex

Hi Nishant Arora,
Modify: It works in performing two actions.
They are: Insert + Update.
For Example If a record that is exited in database, so you are modifying that record, it updates that particular record.
Similarly, If the is not existed in the database, you are modifying it, it inserts a new record.
Update: Update means just it updates the status, I mean it only updates the record. It doesn't inserts any new record if that particular record is not present in the database.
These are the cases you need to write these statements.

See a small example CONTINUE below with some notes:-
When Nothing to Do, CONTINUE: - In Oracle Database 11g PL/SQL has a new construct called CONTINUE, which is used in a loop. The statement moves the logic to the end of the loop and then to the beginning of the loop.
Eg:
begin
        for ctr in 1..100 loop
                continue when mod(ctr,10) != 0;
                dbms_output.put_line ('ctr='||ctr);
                  Continue Skip the executions of statements after this clause Like for numbers, those are not a multiple of 10. And comes to end loop then to start of loop
        end loop;
end;
Here is the output:
ctr=10
ctr=20
ctr=30
... and so on ...EXIT take you out of LOOP from current iteration and that will be last iteration.

Null is java's version of a null value. Java's version is more strict then many other languages, and will not work in a boolean expression or anywhere code expects a real and not null value. It's simply null.
Void is java's way of declaring no return type on a method. Methods that are void take no 'return' statement and if one is provided will cause a fatal error. The exception to this is using 'return' without a value, which returns control to the caller of the method.

VAT is value added tax. a tax levied by the government at the time of sales earlier it was LST ( local sales tax ) this is livied by the state goverments.
ok...example .like if colgae is manufacturing toothpaste and yu are buying it ... so at the time of buying ap[art from the price of material you are payin the vat also.
but wher as excise duty is concerend it is levied by the central excise departments
it is lived on colgate company after it manufactured the product even before selling the toothpaste colgate should pay excise to central excise dept on toothpaste becasue it manufactured it in india ( ofcourse it again collects frm the customer by hiking price )
and excise is calulate don advolrem basis whcih is approx 16% on base price.

Find the difference between JSP and JSF
1. A developer has more control with JSP, but (should) get easier development with JSF
2. Event handling is done differently in JSP (HTTP) and JSF (Java)
3. The UI is designed differently (or should be at least) with JSP (markup) and JSF (components).
4. The end product should also be defined differently - JSP page versus a JSF application.
Is this the only thing that is need to make a decision for either or? Probably not. There are other pieces that need to be taken in account when deciding which technology to use - tools support, enough components, type of application etc.... At this point there are not enough JSF components (although there are some interesting projects underway - Ajaxfaces, Myfaces, ADF Faces, and WebChart 3d) and enterprise tools support is still limited to a few tools vendor. Looking at our ADF Faces components they are currently available as early access (not production) and demands for these components are stacking up, literally, outside my office doorstep. Although I would love to make them production - now! - it is not a viable solution since we are still checking features and fixing critical bugs.
All this combined - not enough enterprise level components in production, lacking tools support etc... - leave customers in a vacuum where the decision is either to continue with JSP, since it is mature and has a wide developer base, or move forward with JSF not sure if the support, or the developers will be there. This is particularly sensitive to customers that need to get started now and be production by summer.
If you are in this vacuum here are some key points promoting JSF:
1. Fundamental unit is the Component
2. Built in event and state management
3. Component sets can be provided by any vendor
4. Closer to ASP.Net or Swing development
5. Choice of UI technology
6. Scale up (rich clients)
7. Scale down (mobile devices)
8. Built into J2EE containers in J2EE 5.0 (tentative)

What is BDC or batch input
The Batch Input is a SAP technic that allows automating the input in transactions. It lies on a BDC (Batch Data Commands) scenario.
BDC functions:
· BDC_OPEN_GROUP : Opens a session group
· BDC_CLOSE_GROUP : Closes a session
· BDC_INSERT : Insert a BDC scenario in the session
· The ABAP statement "CALL TRANSACTION" is also called to run directly a transaction from its BDC table.
It runs the program RSBDCSUB in order to launch automatically the session. The session management is done through the transaction code SM35.
The object itself is maintanable through the transaction SE24.

Extended syntax check or SLIN is used to check the program in all aspects for the different syntaxes like
When you use select single whether you have passed all the key fields or not>
whether you have maintained the text elements texts or not,
Have you used UNIT...CURRENCY along with the QTY and AMOUNT fields when displayed using the WRITE statement
and check for all the varities of statements used in the code, and if there is some problem with that statement/command, it will display as error or warning.

Define integrity constraints using SQL statements. When you define or alter a table, no additional programming is required. The SQL statements are easy to write and eliminate programming errors. Oracle controls their functionality. For these reasons, declarative integrity constraints are preferable to application code and database triggers. The declarative approach is also better than using stored procedures, because the stored procedure solution to data integrity controls data access, but integrity constraints do not eliminate the flexibility of ad hoc data access.
Centralized Rules
Integrity constraints are defined for tables (not an application) and are stored in the data dictionary. Any data entered by any application must adhere to the same integrity constraints associated with the table. Regional Settings differences between 2008 and 2012

Hi There,
Can anyone explain why some of the regional setting details have changed with Win 2012?
Example: Dutch (Belgium) - nl-BE
The 'Digital Grouping Symbol' has changed from a DOT to a WHITESPACE.
2008 - €1.000,00 whereas 2012 - €1 000,00
If the settings are changed on the servers will they persist after OS updates etc?

I see no reference in the KB article to modifications for the CET timezone nor any reference to the resolution of culture format info discrepancies.
A further issue is that the active regional settings on our PRD servers will be set to United States and it would appear that any modification to the Belgium locales (i.e. nl-BE, fr-BE) are not persisted once you switch to United States as the
active setting.
The knock on effect of this is that for our PRD web-applications (which are active across many regions), we have to write code to override the OS information. .NET uses the OS info to populate its Culture information.
Could you confirm if the differences between 2008 and 2012 are the result of a bug or are the changes planned? Based on communication with some of our customers in Belgium, they are of the opinion that the 2008 (and Win 2003) settings are per their expectations.
I really do not what to have to handle these situations across our application landscape and am sure that other people with globalized applications will also hit problems.

WHen you save VM, Hyper-V saves VM state to disk and frees all memory and CPU resources used by VM. When you pause a VM, Hyper-V saves VM cpu state in memory, and then stops VM's cpu processes without releasing its memory. Since no disk operations are involved,
pausing and resuming can be done much faster than saving and restoring a VM.
