  • Data Integration differences between 9.4 and 10 ATG's releases

    Hi, all.
By browsing 9.4 documentation (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E26180_01/index.html - ATG Programming Guide) I have found Appendix B: ATG Commerce Database, which lists all database tables.
By browsing same "ATG Programming Guide" on version 10, there is no such chapter describing ATG's data model.
I would like to make an integration by acessing directly ATG's tables like described in version 9.4.
The reason why version 10 documentation is no longer bringing ATG's data model is the need for doing integration tasks using startSQLRepository as the only certified method for data integration? Can I use version 9.4 documentation as a reference for accessing direclty ATG schema's tables?
    Thanks

  • Differences listed between ASCP Optimization and Inventory Optimization ?

Does anyone has a listed readymade document listing the differences between ASCP optimization and Inventory optimization modules.
    thx for your help.
    thx and rgds,
    Pankaj

    Hi,
As explained IO will recommend time phased Safety stocks it also provides various constraint option, we can make use of it as per our requirement.
In ASCP, following optimization are available:
    1. Maximize inventory turns
    2. Maximize plan profit
    3. Maximize on-time delivery
If you want to use the same optmization in IO, we can fulfill the requirement by available IO constraints say max on-time delivery thro enforce service level constraint.
    Hope it will help u.

  • Differences Between Optimizer Solution and Planner Solution in Project Server Events

    Dear All,
Does anyone know the differences between Optimizer Solution and Planner Solution in Project Server?
In http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/gg204879(v=office.15).aspx and http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/gg200978(v=office.15).aspx, they stated same definitions for both Optimizer Solution and Planner Solution.
    Thank you.

Not entirely sure, but I'd guess they are the same.  This is probably a relic of the old Portfolio Server which had Planner and Optimizer as separate modules.  My guess is that some of that got grandfathered in to Project Server, but due
to functionality creep, ended up meaning pretty much the same thing.

  • Differences between ATG 10.0 & ATG 10.0.2

    Hi,
    I basically have 2 questions.
    1. Can anyone provide me the link to download ACI for ATG 10.0. I foung ACI 10.0.2 download link, but not the 10.0 version.
    2. What are the differences between ATG 10.0 & ATG 10.0.2, including any changes in the Commerce Reference Store in the two versions ? Any change log documentation link will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Shabari,
Since George posted his answer back in June 2011 the atg.com materials have been moved to oracle.com.
See the following knowledge article for information on what ATG versions are available for download (and why other versions are no longer available):
Oracle ATG Product and Patch Availability (Doc ID 1356457.1)
To view knowledge articles log in to My Oracle Support (MOS) and use the search box on the top right, or go to the Knowledge tab.
In either case articles can be found by searching on the Doc ID.
That document has a link to the Oracle Software Delivery Cloud where you can find all of the versions that are available for download.

  • Difference between Personalized url and  Vanity url

    Hi All,
Can any one plz let me know the difference between Personalized url and Vanity url interms of Weblogic Portal ?
    thanks,
    XXXXX

I'm not familiar with these concepts of personalized URLs and vanity URLs, but after a little bit of research it appears to pose the same issues as Search Engine Optimization as it relates to informative URLs.
Search on this forum for Search Engine Optimization or SEO and you'll find some ideas that should be equally applicable to personalized/vanity URLs.

  • What is the difference between "Invisible" (11g) and "virtual" index?

    Hi
What is the difference between the "Invisible" index and "virtual" index?
    Thanks
    Balaji

Indexes can be visible or invisible. An invisible index is maintained by DML operations and cannot be used by the optimizer. Actually takes space, but is not to be used as part of a potential access path.
AFAIK, a virtual index is created by the tools used in SQL statement access path tuning to provide an alternative for the optimizer to test. It does not take any real space as it is a pure in memory definition.

  • Can Oracle be forced to use the spatial index for sdo_filter in combination with an or clause? Difference between Enterprise and SE?

We’re seeing the following issue: sql - Can Oracle be forced to use the spatial index for sdo_filter in combination with an or clause? - Stack Overflow (posted by a colleague of mine) and are curious to know if this behaviour is due to a difference between standard and enterprise, or could we doing something else wrong in our DB config.?
We have also reproduced the issue on the following stacks:
Oracle SE One 11.2.0.3 (with Spatial enabled)
    Redhat Linux 2.6.32-358.6.2.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Thu May 16 20:59:36 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
11.2.0.3.0 Standard Edition and 11.2.0.4.0 Standard Edition (both with Spatial enabled)
Microsoft Windows Server 2003R2 Standard x64 Edition
However, the SQL works fine if we try it on Oracle 11.2.0.3.0 *Enterprise* Edition.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
    Kindest Regards,
    Kevin

In my experience sdo_filter ALWAYS uses the spatial index, so that's not the problem. Since you did not provide the explain plans, we can't say for sure but I think yhu is right: Standard Edition can't use the bitmap operations, and thus it'll take longer to combine the results of the two queries (because the optimizer will surely split this OR up in two parts, then combine them).
BTW: when asking questions about queries here, it would be nice if you posted the queries here as well, so that we do not have to check another website in order to see what you are doing. Plus it will probably get you more answers, because not everyone can be bothered to click on that link. It would also have been nice if you had posted your own answer on the other post here as well, because my recommendation would have been to use union all - but since you already found that out for yourself my recommendation would have been a little late.

  • AppleScript speed difference between 10.4 & 10.5

This post is related to a question I posed in March 2009 (https://discussions.apple.com/message/9226100) regarding the speed difference between AppleScript text handling in OS X 10.5 compared with 10.4.11.
I have recently written a script to search through a text file which is an xml file exported from WorkGroup Manager. The file, which is approximately 1.8 MB, contains all the user names on the school server (just over 1720 of them), their settings and any other information we have added. After adapting some script ideas (using text delimiters and offsets) which I found on the internet to assist with counting the number of users and searching through the information of each one, one at a time, I have a script which works far in excess of my expectations in terms of speed when run under OS X 10.4, but runs slower than molasses in winter under 10.5.
The script counts the number of accounts, extracts each user's log-in name and also their actual name (which we have entered under a 'general info' or 'comments' field - I can't remember exactly where, but it is stored in the file), makes up a complete list of all account names (with the actual name, if present) and also makes up a subset of this information into a separate list which contains only the log-in names of those whose actual name has not yet been recorded on the server, then saves both lists to separate text files.
My original attempts, using some rather clumsy text searching and comparison techniques, took about 1-2 minutes to go through the whole procedure. After some internet searching, head-scratching and a bit more more work, the finished script, when run on my G5 under OS X 10.4.11, takes less than 3 seconds to do all I have described above, including the writing to text files. To say I was pleased would be an understatement!
Because the school/work environment, where the script would be run, is all OS X 10.5 or higher, I thought I should test it out under at least OS X 10.5. The script was developed on my DP 2.5GHz G5 with 8GB RAM running OS X 10.4.11. Using a fresh, clean installation of 10.5 I ran the script and was extremely disappointed. After letting it run for more than 20 minutes and still not finishing, I force quit AppleScript and reduced the number of accounts in the file. 40 accounts took 3 seconds, 60 accounts took 6 seconds, 80 took 11 seconds, 100 took 19 seconds and 120 took 27 seconds. I eventually let the script run right through - total time taken to process 1720 users was 65 minutes, compared to 3 seconds under 10.4.11!
Given that it was tested on the same Mac, with the same amount of RAM, using the same script and the same original text file, the only variable left (that I can think of) is the change of OS version - 10.4.11 vs 10.5.
As was pointed out to me in my previous post, AppleScript in OS X 10.5 handles all text as Unicode and has a greater overhead in processing time as a result. I have implemented the various bits of advice offered by respondents to my original post and changed the way I handled lists, etc. Obviously, if the script works so speedily under 10.4.11, I must have done something right in terms of code optimization/efficiency. It's when that exact same script is run under OS X 10.5 that it slows down incredibly. I even tried it on a 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac running 10.5.8 - it still took 40 minutes and Activity Monitor showed CPU usage by Script Editor constantly above 80% (often well above 90%). Saving the script as an application made no difference in the time taken.
Does anybody have any knowledge about what makes AppleScript Unicode-only text handling so slow? In this case, it is 1300 times slower! Is there any way of coercing/restricting the text handling/parsing to ASCII? If I really have to, I will set up a humble eMac at school with 10.4 on it just to handle large text files quickly with AppleScript, but I would prefer to be able to do it on the normal work Macs which have 10.5 or later on them. As mentioned, under 10.4.11 the script processes the 1.8MB text file with 1720 users and writes results to two files - all within 3 seconds, so I'm not really looking for coding suggestions unless they are directly related to what has changed in AppleScript under OS X 10.5. Without sounding too smug, the script works properly and speedily (at least in 10.4). I really would like to learn about the changes in AppleScript in OS X 10.5 and how to cope with or work around those changes.

Getting text in the variable which contains   327680 characters, (20 times)  = 12 seconds.
Getting text in the variable which contains   163840 characters, (20 times)  =   6 seconds.
The result on the same machine on Tiger is always less of one second.

  • Difference between semantic and key fields in DSO

    Hello All,
Please help me in understanding about difference between "Key fields" and "Semantic key" in write optimize DSO.
    thanks

    Hi,
you dont have key fields in write-optimized DSO, key fields terminology is forin standard DSO.
And semantic key is used in write-optimized DSO.
As we know standard DSO is a flat structure similar to transparent tables that we have in R3/ECC system with key fields (combination of values which needs to be unique).
Now, The system generates a unique technical key for the write-optimized DataStore object. The standard key fields are not necessary with this type of DataStore object. If there are standard key fields anyway, they are called semantic keys so that they can be distinguished from the technical keys. The technical key consists of the Request GUID field (0REQUEST), the Data Package field (0DATAPAKID) and the Data Record Number field (0RECORD). Only new data records are loaded to this key.

  • Difference between BBP_GET_STATUS_2 and CLEAN_REQREQ_UP reports

Could someone explain in simple way what is the difference between BBP_GET_STATUS_2 and CLEAN_REQREQ_UP reports? I have read the differences in standard documentation but it is a little confusing.
    Thanks!
    Regards,
    Madhur

    Hi
    CLEAN_REQREQ_UP (Cleaner Job)
You can use this function for document types Shopping cart, (Local) Purchase Order, Confirmation, and Invoice to trigger a synchronization with the associated documents in the back-end system. The system checks whether and how the (follow-on) documents were posted in the back end, and updates the object link and references, as well as the document status.
A job (background processing) is generated for the program CLEAN_REQREQ_UP. When this is run, the system queries a database table containing the transfer information of the documents to the back end. The entries are checked with the data of the respective back-end systems. If the back-end transfer is successful, the respective entries are deleted and the prerequisites for further processing are created.
    BBP_GET_STATUS2 (Status Job)
The status job was created by SAP to update the EBP system with data such as purchase requisition number, purchase order number, goods received or invoices recorded manually in R/3, etc. The report should not be run on a frequent basis at short intervals unless the order count from EBP to R/3 is not that high. Otherwise, a recommended interval for running the report is approximately every hour. Basically the schedule times depend on your business requirements.
Until this job runs, the user will not see the number of the backend document created in R/3 for a particular shopping cart in the history tab of the check status transaction.
    Some more information :
    Go to:
SPRO->IMG->Integration with Other SAP components->Advanced Planning and
    Optimization->basic Settings for the Data Transfer->Change Transfer->
change Transfer for Transaction Data->Active Online Transfer using BTE
Here you should maintain the application 'SRMNTY' with active flag.
Once this customizing is enabled, whenever a follow-on document
(either confirmation or invoice) for an extended classic PO is created
in the backend R/3 system, the R/3 system communicates to the SRM system
by creating an entry in the table BBP_DOCUMENT_TAB for this PO.
The item level of the SRM PO has fields to store the actual quantity
and values entered for the corresponding confirmations and invoices.
After that, run the reports CLEAN_REQREQ_UP and BBP_GET_STATUS_2.
When the report CLEAN_REQREQ_UP runs this will update the
PO with statistical information. With the latest information in
BBP_PDIGP table (statistical information) the query should work fine.

  • Differences between standard and pro versions

I was reading the comparision of these two Acrobat versions and for Pro it says:
Edit and enhance photos to add to your PDF communications with Adobe Photoshop® CS5.
Quickly transform static PowerPoint slides into compelling, interactive PDF presentations with Adobe Presenter
Rapidly combine screen recordings, narration, video, slides, and more into a rich media experience with Adobe Captivate® 5
Does that mean that the Pro version includes Photoshop, Presenter and Captivate programs as well? Or, what are the differences? As an aside, the new look and feel of the Adobe website is confusing at best. Seems geared to being flashy, not useful.
    Regards, David

Acrobat does not included those other packages. One of the pages that always struck me funny (maybe I have a twisted mind) but has this artistic background is the updates page. The background looks like a lacy bra to me. It is the first thing that comes to mind every time I see it. That is a problem with abstract images (that are typically unnecessary and waste bandwidth), that a lot is in the eye of the beholder. Actually, I have heard from many others that also see the bra.
OK, back to Acrobat. There are several aspects of Acrobat that allow you to have links to the other products built in, but they are not included. The page at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobatpro/buying-guide.html?promoid=JIJYS provides some info, but a lot is missing. For instance there are differences with PDF Optimize and Reduce File Size I think (sorry, I do not have Std to check). One important one that is part of pro is the preflight option. Apparently Std does not include portfolios or allow PDF comparison according to the chart.
If you are into forms, then Std apparently will do them as AcroForms (my preference, partially because of familiarity), but does not include Designer if that was your preference. Some of the enabling for Reader is not available in Std. Also, Std does not allow embedding Flash. Std is limited for some of the products that include PDF Maker (not a big one for me, but might be important to you).
That is a quick summary based on the chart. However, be aware there are some other features that the chart does not seem to cover. For the difference between Std and Pro, I would suggest getting Pro. The big hit is the initial cost of the product, not the step up to Pro. In a business plan consider the time that might be wasted trying to do some of the things in Pro that are not in Std. Those are the types of issues to consider. Many folks consider the cost to be large, and for a small business it is. However, in the long term it may be worth the cost.
Keep in mind that many large CAD packages in engineering run about $30,000 for a single license, half the cost of the engineer that would use it. Some other tools are about $15,000. In that view, Acrobat is cheap (except for cheapskates like me).

  • Portege R600 - Difference between cooling options

I have a Portege R600 with Windows 7 installed, but I guess my query is generic to all Porteges regardless of the version of Windows.
Could someone please explain to me what the different "cooling options" in the power settings actually mean? I couldn't find details anywhere.
Does battery optimized mean that the cpu fan gets activated only beyond a certain temperature? And what's the difference between cooling and maximum performance?
Is there any other way to set the cpu fan speed directly?
This is a very important point to me, because the fan of the Portege is terrible, too noisy, to the extent that I am considering return the laptop unless I find a solution. Sometimes it sounds like a Ferrari engine at a billion rpms!
    Thanks!

    This points to:
    which mentions that:
"If the sound of the CPU fan seems too loud, a setting that optimizes battery life will also cause the CPU fan to turn on less frequently."
However, my problem was quite the opposite: optimizing battery life causes the fan to stay off most of the times but to make the noise of a Ferrari engine at max speed when it activates. Optimizing performance, instead, means the fan is almost always on but barely noticeable, and never makes the disturbing Ferrari-like noise.
Maybe it's just me, but that kind of noise prevents me from using the laptop and would have cause me to return it had I not found a solution. I simply think that it's such a big potential problem that a clear solution should have been explained in huge letters, all the more so because the solution is very banal. It might be just my opinion, but judging by reviews and comments on forums, I'd say it isn't.

I am looking for a whitepaper/SAP documentation that talks about differences between BI 7.0 and BI 3.x especially Bex reporting. I searched through forums several times but I was not able to answer my question. I found some helpful links but it is not giving me what I need. Here are some of the documents I found. All of them only talk about 7.0 new features instead of differences. I was wondering if someone can help.

    Hi,
    1. In Infosets now you can include Infocubes as well.
    2. The Remodeling transaction helps you add new key figure and characteristics and handles historical data as well without much hassle. This is only for info cube.
    3. The BI accelerator (for now only for infocubes) helps in reducing query run time by almost a factor of 10 - 100. This BI accl is a separate box and would cost more. Vendors for these would be HP or IBM.
    4. The monitoring has been imprvoed with a new portal based cockpit. Which means you would need to have an EP guy in ur project for implementing the portal !
    5. Search functionality hass improved!! You can search any object. Not like 3.5
    6. Transformations are in and routines are passe! Yess, you can always revert to the old transactions too.
    7. The Data Warehousing Workbench replaces the Administrator Workbench.
    8. Functional enhancements have been made for the DataStore object:
    New type of DataStore object
Enhanced settings for performance optimization of DataStore objects.
    9. The transformation replaces the transfer and update rules.
    10. New authorization objects have been added
    11. Remodeling of InfoProviders supports you in Information
    Lifecycle Management.
    12 The Data Source:
There is a new object concept for the Data Source.
Options for direct access to data have been enhanced.
From BI, remote activation of Data Sources is possible in SAP source systems.
13.There are functional changes to the Persistent Staging Area (PSA).
    14.BI supports real-time data acquisition.
15 SAP BW is now known formally as BI (part of NetWeaver 2004s). It implements the Enterprise Data Warehousing (EDW). The new features/ Major differences include:
    a) Renamed ODS as DataStore.
    b) Inclusion of Write-optmized DataStore which does not have any change log and the requests do need any activation
    c) Unification of Transfer and Update rules
    d) Introduction of "end routine" and "Expert Routine"
    e) Push of XML data into BI system (into PSA) without Service API or Delta Queue
    f) Intoduction of BI accelerator that significantly improves the performance.
    g) Load through PSA has become a must. I am not too sure about this. It looks like we would not have the option to bypass the PSA Yes,
    16. Load through PSA has become a mandatory. You can't skip this, and also there is no IDoc transfer method in BI 7.0. DTP (Data Transfer Process) replaced the Transfer and Update rules. Also in the Transformation now we can do "Start Routine, Expert Routine and End Routine". during data load.
New features in BI 7 compared to earlier versions:
    i. New data flow capabilities such as Data Transfer Process (DTP), Real time data Acquisition (RDA).
ii. Enhanced and Graphical transformation capabilities such as Drag and Relate options.
iii. One level of Transformation. This replaces the Transfer Rules and Update Rules
iv. Performance optimization includes new BI Accelerator feature.
    v. User management (includes new concept for analysis authorizations) for more flexible BI end user authorizations.
