Difference for item categories

hi,
What is the difference of having Item Category as Sales Item Cat. and Del. Item Cat. (and both are same, like we have 'TAN' or others)
thanks..

Dear Yogi,
As my first statement to your query, i would like to refer your one of the threads: Carry out Delivery with 0 Picking.
In addition to my reply in that thread, i would like to maintain the same relevance, in this case:
Picking (or Packing) can only be deactivated in the Delivery Item Category.
If, you observe both transactions, i.e. VOV7 (Sales Item Cat.) & OVLP (Delivery Item Cat.), you will clearly come to know that the Basic difference is, Sales Item cateogories are used to provide additional control functions to the items in the Sales Order, whereas,
OVLP - More Control over Delivery/ Shipping-Related Functions, in Delivery Document (say, Minimun Delivery Qty, etc..).
Item Category Determination that takes place in Delivery, at T. Code: 0184.
Delivery Doc Type + Itemcategory group + Usage + Higer level item category = Delviery Item category
Best Regards,
Amit

  • Parent Child Value Sets for Item Categories

I've tried to set up parent-child value sets, not independent-dependent sets for Item Categories but in vain. So, if Item Category has 2 segments - Category & Sub-Category; Sub-Category only shows valid values for a category. For example, if Category is 19 (Tools), the LOV for 2nd segment would only show 28 (Large Tools), 29 (Heavy Tools) etc.
Creating an independent-dependent combination displays all values for the independent & dependent sets.
    Just looking for help here.
    Thanks,
    Sanjib

Thanks for your responses. We greatly appreciate you taking the time to reply to this thread. My e-mail is [email protected], that is if you'd like to send any documents.
Basically, this is what we were looking for -
    The category structure is
    Equipment 1 - Spare 1,
    Equipment 1 - Spare 2,
    Equipment 2 - Spare 1,
    Tools - Large,
    Tools - Small,
    etc.
When selecting Codes for this structure, if I choose 'Equipment 1' for 1st segment, LOV for 2nd segment would only show 'Spare 1', 'Spare 2'. Similarly, If I choose 'Tools', I only see 'Large', 'Small' for Segment 2.
    Thanks,

  • Difference btewn item categories

    hi ,
what is difference between general  item categories group and item categories group in sales org 2 in VA02.
    Thanks
    Ganesh

    Hi,
           AS we know,
    item cat determined by
sales doc type + item cat group+item usage + heigher level item cat,
its not mandatory that every item should be relevant for sales,
there are certain items which cant be sold by the process.
and item category is nt only used in SD but also used in MM too.
eg: if we create raw material , we dont have sales org views.
raw materials will be procured from vendor , for that process has to raise the request.
In dat request material will be controlled by the item category( it not same as SD item category ) .
to determine this system will take Genereal item cat group taken into account from basic data views, as it doesnt have item cat group which will be in sales views.

  • Difference between Item categories M and W

What is the difference between the Item Categories ' M ' and ' W ' ?. When & where these item categories are used?

    HI,
The item categories M and W are intended for the entry of contract items without
    specification of the material number.
    Item category M
Recommended for similar materials of the same price. These can be materials with
different material numbers or materials without material master records.
You have set up a contract with your vendor covering various types of writing
paper (lined, squared, blank, two-/four-hole prepunched, etc.). The different types
of paper have the same weight, the same quality, and the same price.
When entering this contract item of category M, you enter the short description,
material group, target quantity, unit of measure, and price, but no material number.
The short description must then be entered in the contract release order (for
    example, lined, two-hole prepunched).
You also have the option of releasing materials with a material master record
against this contract item in the release order, provided that the material group and
purchase order unit of measure agree.
    Item category W
Recommended for materials belonging to the same material group but with
different prices. Item category W can only be used in value contracts.
You have set up a contract with your vendor for various types of cable. The
contract is to cover all types of cable included in the vendor's price list. However,
the exact type is only determined when a purchase order is created for a certain
cable. Instead of creating one contract item for each type of cable in the vendor's
assortment, you could enter item category W and the appropriate material group
(for example, cable). From the short text, it would then be clear that the contract
item covers all types of cable supplied by the vendor in question. Each release
order issued against this contract would then contain the exact specification of
cable type and quantity (for example, double-shielded coax, 1 meter), and price.
When entering the contract item, you enter only the short text and the material
group. You do not enter the target quantity or price. It is possible to enter
additional conditions. For example, you can enter a discount in the header
conditions if the vendor grants a discount on all POs referencing the contract. The
discount is calculated automatically when a contract release order is created.
The price, the target quantity, and the material number are not specified until you
create a release order. The relevant material master record must be assigned to
the same material group as the contract item referenced. If the contract release
order does not contain a material number, it must have a valid account assignment
    (such as a cost center).

  • Two  columns for item categories

    hi Gurus
In SPRO  in defining document types for PR/PO/RFQ/CONTRACT , in link to purchasing req/ document types there are two columns of item categories. why they are given so?

    hi,
the first one is used for the Reference purchasing doc...and the second one is used for the PR doc itself...
If you are using the reference for the PR creation then ...as per the Given items cat can be used...

  • Credit Check while creation of Sales Order for Item Category Purchase Req

    Hi Experts,
We are creating Sales Order using an Order Type ABCD for a material 1000. While creating Sales Order, we use Item categories (ZOVD, ZOVB,ZOST,ZOVP and ZOBO).
Credit Check settings are there at Order Type ABCD as well as all the Item Categories (ZOVD, ZOVB,ZOST,ZOVP and ZOBO). We are trying to test a scenario where a customer does not have enough credit limit while creating a sales order.
When we create a sales order for Item Categories (ZOVD, ZOVB,ZOST,ZOVP), credit check fails because our customer does not have enough credit limit, so that Sales Order gets created and Delivery does not get created (This is what we want), then we go into VKM1 manually and relase the sales order and then if we go to VA02 and check the status of the Sales Order, it says sales order status is complete. My Sales Team is saying here also Purchase Requisition is getting created.
When we create a sales order for Item category ZOBO, it is going into Purchase Requisition screen. Once we give another plant in the create purchase requisition screen and save it we are getting a message that cannot create Purchase Requisiton because of Credit Block.
The settings were same for all the Item categories.
    1) What made difference to complete Purchase Requisition for Item Categories (ZOVD, ZOVB,ZOST,ZOVP) and not for Item Category ZOBO when my customer is not having enough credit Limit.
    2) Why Purchase Requisition screen is not coming for us when we create an Sales Order for Item Categories (ZOVD, ZOVB,ZOST,ZOVP). We only get Create Purchase Requisiton Screen for Item Category ZOBO.
    Thanks

    Hi,
None of the Item Categories has Create PO Automatically.

  • Item Categories in Popup

    Hi,
We have a requirement where we need the Popup for Item categories in Opportunity which is like after selecting the Opportunity type we should get another Popup of Item categories.  Is this possible with standard confirguration.
    We are using the PCUI.
    Kindly guide me in this.
    Thanks
    Naveen

    Hi Naveen,
The Item categories are automatically assgined once you select the products. This functionality of creating pop ups to select Item Categories is not possible both in PC UI as well as SAP GUI.
There cannot be any pop ups assigned for ITEM categories, simple because one Item can have only one item category. This functionality is not possible

  • Item categories for Free of charge items

    Hi Gururs,
In the standard SAP the Item categories AFNN,AGNN and TANN are defined. Can the free goods be determined in Inquiry and Quotation(in any sales document with document category other than C-i.e.Order). If not possible, then what is the purpose of defining AFNN and AGNN.
    Thanks in advance
    Ravi

    Hi Sankar,
I can confirm that a free goods determination cannot be enabled for any sales document category other than C. In some of the OSS notes, it is clearly stated that free goods is meant only for sales document category C.
However the purpose of AGNN, and AFNN are not known. When i checked the configuration, these 2 ICs have configuration which are different from TANN in some of the aspects, especially the pricing field, that itself says that AGNN and AFNN are not meant for Free goods.
However, I will confirm on the purpose of these ICs in sometime, as I am exploring that.
YOU CAN READ THE OSS NOTE 549505 ON FREE GOODS, WHICH CONFIRMS THIS. IF YOU WANT THE NOTES, LEMME KNOW UR EMAIL ID.
    Reward if this helps.

  • Swap between two different item categories in sales orders for sub-contracting

    Dear gurus,
my requirement is to have the ability to swap between two different item categories for sales orders for sub-contracting.
This should be controlled by a combination of the material and a value maintained the Usage field in the Customer Material Info Record (for example by entering a ‘V’).  A combination of Sales Doc Type, Item Cat Group and Usage should result in the creation of a purchase requisition.
In the event that a process order is required instead of a purchase requisition (i.e. the product is to be manufactured in-house instead of sub-contracted) the user must have the ability to change the Item Category within the sales order to produce a process order.
The user would just change the item category within the sales order, and the system would automatically remove the purchase requisition assigned to the SO, and create a process order and assign it to the SO.
Can you suggest any possible solution?
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi Majlo,
In my system, I checked.  First created sales order with third party line item and then changed item category to normal item category.
Till Purchase order not created, I can change Item category of my sales order line item.
In this case SAP inform by log and once save delete purchase requisition of that line item .
For this you need to assign another item category as an manual item category in SPRO Item category assignment.
After this user can manually change item category to other one manually, if PO do not exist.
Please let me know if your query is different.

  • How to default inv mtl accnt based on the item categories for all trxns

    Hi all,
There is a requirement for defaulting inventory material account based on the item categories accounts defined in the category accounts window. instead of defaulting from the inventory organization parameters.
I researched on that and found that we need to do product line accounting setups and modify the accounting client extension code ( Cost Management PDF)
Am i correct in the approach? will i succeed if we go ahead and do these?
    Need your kind comments....
    Regards,
    Prasad

    Hi,
I can think of one of the probable solution for your requirement.
Your need to create new condition table with item Category as one of the key combination.  I think you need to update the item category in field catalog as well as in Doc Structures. Then maintain free goods condition record all the item categories except for the Return item category. This way you can exclude free goods activation for return items.
Note : If the number of active item categories are more then it may be difficult to maintain condition records for the item categories.
    Hope this will help

  • Making condition type unmandatory for free item categories

    Hi all,
I've created a form routine in RV64ANNN the requirement is when we create or change sales order....we have few item categories were in we need to make a concern condition type unmandtory if items with those item category is created...else if make the condition type mandatory.........example...............this is done for only one pricing procedure......in V/08 tcode and there i've assinged our routine number for that condition type which needs to be changed dynamically.
say we have Sales doc type ZXXX for this sales doc type lets say we have item category ZITE1 and ZITE2.......and lets say the Condition type is ZCOND(whether the condition type is required or not is done by checking in tcode V/08 and this is always checked).now when the user enters creates a item 1 with item category ZITE1 and leaves the amount field blank it will however ask to enter the amount.......now here is the problem............if user creates second line item with item category ZITE2 its againing asking to enter the amount for that condition type.............this is happing even after i've desinged the below code.............
    DATA: l_kobli TYPE kobli.

  • Use of cost relevant Item categories L2N and G2N for debit and credit memo

    Dear Forum memebers,
For  credit and debit memo  one of the customised client repot is showing  cost value which is not expected for credit and debit memo in the invoice register.
This is due to use of L2N and G2N which are cost relevant item categories.
Why should debit and credit memo item category should be cost relevant.??
    Best Regards,
    Kanwal

Well if your company do not want to adjust the cost of goods sold when any credit / debit is raised, then yes you can go ahead.
    Thanks

  • Order type, Invoice type and Item categories for Nota Fiscal Brazil

    Hi eveyone,
we have a company in Brazil implemented in SAP using a different SD Order type, Invoice Type and Item categories
as our mother company in Switzerland. Reason of that is because of the nota fiscal customization for Brazilian legal requirements.
We startet with a Project worldwide to rollout a global template within sales and distribution and are facing now exactly
the problem with those different order type, item categories and Invoice type.
Our local SAP partner in Brazil told as based on best practise we should have different types.
I checked the customization and it seems I can't use e.g.: the same Order type for Brazil and Switzerland because
the activation flag for nota fiscal is linked to the order type and no sales organization can be setted to slplitt the different processes.
Someone knows if there are some possibilities (maybe trough user exits or badi's) to use globally the same dovument types, item categoreis... globally?
    Thanks in advance
    Gaspare Guttadauro

    Hi Gaspare Guttadauro,
I would strongly recommend to use the different document types and item categories as suggested by SAP. Since Brazil do have one of the complex taxation process in place hence to determine correct pricing the different document type will be required. Also functionalities  like CFOP determination and nota fiscal relevance can be maintained.
Please feel free to revert the forum in case of any doubts.
    Cheers
    Atul
