Hmm, I'm gonna have a go at this - hopefully someone will build on it with more differences or requirements:
A Java Bean is merely a Java class written to conform to some simply rules for construction and method naming eg:
public class MyBean
private String myField;

return myField;
}Applications can use Java Beans without having to know about the class in advance - a typical situation might be their use in visual GUI editors where the properties of the bean can be exposed and manipulated by the editor through examination of the method names or an accompanying descriptor.
An Enterprise Java Bean doesn't have all that much in common with a Java Bean. An EJB is a small set of classes meeting a single (usually) business requirement written to conform to the EJB specification. This enables them to be used by J2EE Application servers to perform enterprise business functions (data storage, manipulation, business logic etc.). The whole idea is that by writing to the specification the server can automatically provide support for transaction management, concurrent access, scaleability, etc that a mission-critical system might require without the programmer having to understand the workings of the application server.
Essentially an EJB can either
1) maintain the permanent state of a business object (eg, hold the data for a single product in a catalogue)
2) perform a small set of business operations (eg, place an order for a customer)
3) act in response to messages passed around the system (eg, send a mail to the user when the items have been shipped)

Can someone tell me the differences between Session Facade and Business Delegate design patterns

1. Session Facade decouples client code from Entity beans introducing session bean as a middle layer while Business Delegate decouples client code from EJB layer ( Session beans).
2. SF reduces network overhead while BD reduces maintenance overhead.
3. In SF any change in Session bean would make client code change.
While in DB client is totally separate from Session bean because BD layer insulate client from Session beans(EJB layer).
3. In only SF scenario, Client coder has to know about EJB programming but BD pattern no EJB specialization needed.
4.SF emphasizes on separation of Verb, Noun scenario while BD emphasizes on separation of client(presentable) and EJB layer.
Anybody pls suggest more differences ?

If you want to take existing WLS6.1 web services and convert them to WLS7.0 you can

The difference I know is the application servers provides the containers for the applications to run which is not provided by the web servers.
For example the containers can be an EJB container or JSP container etc

Difference between the archive and cache_archive in object tag

hello,
I am trying to find the difference between the archive and cache_archive for the object tag to use for applet.
I was going through this link which discusses the applet caching :

Especially : A sticky applet is placed in a disk cache created and
controlled by Java Plug-in which the browser cannot overwrite.How do i find what is the disk cache on my machine, and how different it is from the normal cache.
Currently i am using the normal archive parameter in object tag, and when i go to the java plugin control panel, i see all the downloaded jars.
But wanted to know how will it be different from using the cache_archive parameter.

I feel the same too - Except the fact that SessionFacade is used to access EJBs while the VO are built as response objects (i.e. assembled) and unassembled by different web requests.

What is the difference between a Java class and a JavaBean?
A class has variables which hold state.
A class has methods which can do things (like change state).
And if I understand a JavaBean it is rather like a BIG class...
i.e.

Here is a brief description of difference between SY_TABIX and SY_INDEX and using them with several conditions.
SY-TABIX
Current line of an internal table. SY-TABIX is set by the statements below, but only for index tables. The field is either not set or is set to 0 for hashed tables.
APPEND sets SY-TABIX to the index of the last line of the table, that is, it contains the overall number of entries in the table.
COLLECT sets SY-TABIX to the index of the existing or inserted line in the table. If the table has the type HASHED TABLE, SY-TABIX is set to 0.
LOOP AT sets SY-TABIX to the index of the current line at the beginning of each loop lass. At the end of the loop, SY-TABIX is reset to the value that it had before entering the loop. It is set to 0 if the table has the type HASHED TABLE.
READ TABLE sets SY-TABIX to the index of the table line read. If you use a binary search, and the system does not find a line, SY-TABIX contains the total number of lines, or one more than the total number of lines. SY-INDEX is undefined if a linear search fails to return an entry.
SEARCH <itab> FOR sets SY-TABIX to the index of the table line in which the search string is found.
SY-INDEX
In a DO or WHILE loop, SY-INDEX contains the number of loop passes including the current pass.

sy-tabix is in Internal table, current line index. So it can only be used while looping at the internal table.
sy-index is in Loops, number of current pass. This you can use in other loop statements also (like do-enddo loop, while-endwhile)
SY-INDEX is a counter for following loops: do...enddo, while..endwhile
SY-TABIX is a counter for LOOP...ENDLOOP, READ TABLE...
Here is an example from which you can understand the difference between sy-tabix and sy-index.
Itab is an internal table with the following data in it.
id Name
198 XYZ
475 ABC
545 PQR.
loop at itab where id > 300.
write :/ itab-id, itab-name , sy-tabix, sy-index.
endloop.
My output will be :
475 ABC 2 1
545 PQR 3 2
Sy-tabix is the index of the record in internal table.
sy-index gives the no of times of loop passes.
So, for the first record in the output (475 ABC), 2 is the index of the record in internal table and as it is first time loop pass occured, sy-index value is 1.

Does anyone know what is the difference between chapter markers and dvd studio pro markers? I can not find anywhere on Google. Also in the tutorials I have seen, suggesting DVD Studio Pro markers, but it did not mention the chapter markers.

Markers are reference points you can place within clips or sequences that identify specific frames. There are two kinds of markers you can add that directly relate to authoring a DVD—chapter markers and compression markers.
• Chapter markers allow DVD authoring applications to create a navigable chapter list for your exported QuickTime movie. Chapter markers force MPEG keyframes (known as I-frames) at their location, since the DVD specification requires an I-frame at each chapter point.
