Differences between jdk1.1 and j2sdk1.4 (urgent please)

Someone tels me what are the main differences between jdk 1.1 and j2sdk 1.4 : packages, classes, methods, types ...please. And if there is a package that makes changes to upgrate a code written under jdk1.1 to one that operates under 1.4 or even 1.3 please tell me as quick as possible
Thanks

Yes, that might "generally" be true, but if you want a
list of incompatibilities:
Starting here
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4/compatibility.html#incompa
ibilities1.4 (Incompatibilities between 1.4 and 1.3)
you can trace back through the incompatibilities
between 1.3 and 1.2 and the incompatibilities between
1.2 and 1.1.Correct, but I feel pretty safe saying "generally" because of the following paragraph from the above mentioned document:
J2SE 1.4.0 is strongly compatible with previous versions of the Java 2 Platform. Almost all existing programs should run on J2SE 1.4.0 without modification. However, there are some minor potential incompatibilities with 1.3 that involve rare circumstances and "corner cases" that we are documenting here for completeness.

  • Difference between jdk1.3 and jdk1.4 and jdk1.5

    Hi All
1: I wud like to know the difference between jdk1.3 and jdk1.4 and jdk1.5. I could not recoginze the correct answer for this.. mostly i need the added advantages for version of JDK..
2: I wud also like to know difference in J2SE and J2EE.
    Thanks in advance

while I can't tell you exclusively the differences, other than more methods have been added and some have been deprecated, from version to version, that is at least one difference.
I know several like me are reluctant at the moment to jump on up to 1.5, for fear of (and reasonably so) making their current apps go haywire!
Mine did just the other day when I tried to upgrade the JDK from 1.4.0 to 1.4.2.12!! It hosed everything.
J2SE is the Standard Environment, and J2EE is the Enterprise environment, which at the very least allows for things like the java Mail interface, using servlets and classes with the HTTP environment!
I'm sure many other posters could more accurately and specifically give you some other criterion of differences and advantages.

  • Difference between jdk1.3 and 1.4

is there any difference between JDK1.3 and JDK1.4 in terms of size???

I really doubt that adding new lines of code in your program will, by itself and not because of the behavior of those lines of code, cause you to run out of heap space.
More likely, those new lines of code do something in particular which eats up heap space. Also, IIRC an out of memory error isn't just because of the heap; it could also be because of the stack. I'm guessing that those new lines of code contain a runaway recursive method or something like that.
Either that, or perhaps you're doing something really hideous with code generation. My advice about that: don't use code generation.

    Hi,
To my feeling, all depends on how you can provide/retrieve frm that third party.
Solutions like XI (https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/xi), web services, etc can be valueble for your purpose, but only you can determin this by knowing the third party software.

  • What is difference between Managed Bean and Backing Bean?

What is difference between Managed Bean and Backing Bean? Please guide me how to create them and when to use them?
Please post sample for both beans.

    Hi,
managed beans and backing beans are quite the same in that the Java object is managed by the JavaServer Faces framework. Manage in this respect means instantiation. The difference is that backing beans contain component "binding" references, which managed beans usually don't. Do backing beans are page specific versions of managed beans.
Managed beans are configured either in the faces-config.xml file, or using ADF Faces and ADFc, in the adfc-config.xml file

  • Difference between customizing request and workbench request?

    Hi ,
What is the difference between customizing request and workbench request?
    please reply.........

    HI,
    <b>Workbench Requests</b>
When you change a Repository object of the ABAP Workbench, a query window appears in which you need to specify a Workbench request. You can only save the changes if you have assigned the object to a change request.
Workbench requests and the tasks assigned to them are normally used to record changes to Repository objects and Customizing for all clients. However, you can also include client-specific Customizing.
Whether the changes to Repository objects are transported depends on whether a transport route is defined from the current SAP System for the package of these objects. From the system settings, the system automatically determines whether the change requests are transportable and to which target system they should be transported.
    <b>Customizing requests</b>
Customizing requests record client-specific Customizing settings made in a single client (the source client of the request).
Automatic recording of configuration activities in the Customizing work for a client can be activated or deactivated for each client with Client Control. If automatic recording is active, a query window appears when you change Customizing settings, asking you to specify a Customizing request.
Whether Customizing requests are transported or not, does not depend on the objects entered, as is the case with Workbench change requests. The Customizing requests in an SAP System (or in a client if you use Extended Transport Control) are either all transportable or all local, depending on the system setting. The system uses the standard transport layer to determine automatically whether the change requests are transportable and to which target system they should be transported. However, you can change this manually.
    pl reward if it helps.
    Thanks

  • Difference between Standard cost and standard price

    Hi:
I have gone through google but i could not find any answer to the question clicking my mind. When we talk about standard cost and standard price..Should they be taken synonymously? Are these two same concepts... If there is any difference between two please do let me know..Similarly is there any difference between Actual cost and actual price. Please guide
    Br

For Finished Goods,  Cost is nothing but your manufacturing or procurement cost.
Where as Price is nothing but your sales price of the same Finished Goods.
Simply when you buy, it is cost and when you sell it is price.
Price includes cost + Profit or loss.
But from SAP point of view Standard Price field in Material master is Standard Cost.
Standard cost will be arrived when we manufacture or procure
Sale price will be entered in Sale order as condition value.

  • Difference between Stock transfer and transfer posting

<<Locked - reason: failed to search before posting question>>
Edited by: Csaba Szommer on Feb 9, 2011 9:10 AM

    Hello,
Transfer posting may involve or not involve the physical goods transfer.  In the system you might do transfer posting from quality to unrestricted, or from one store location to another.
In transfer posting you remove and or replace materials from storage in one storage location and place them in another storage location.
That transction code you use for transfer posting MB1B with following movement types may be used
    301, 303,305,311,411,309.
301 is Stock Transfer Between Plants in One Step
303 & 305 : Stock Transfer Between Plants in Two Steps
In stock transfer, it always involves physical movement of goods, like transfer between plants under same company code or different company codes.
Following types are possible with STO's
    Stock Transport Order Without Delivery
Stock Transport Order with Delivery via Shipping
Stock Transport Order with Delivery and Billing Document/Invoice

  • Difference between .war file and .ear file

    Hi,
what is the difference between .war file and .ear file ?
Please let me know with appropriate explanation.

War file means web application archive. It is archived file having a collection of JSP, servlets and static pages that together costitute a web application. It contains one WEB-INF directory which will have a file named web.xml which defines the structure of the web application.
On the other side EAR file is Enterprise application archive. It is file having packaged content of one or more modules into a single archive so that the deployment of all the modules can be done simultaneously on the application server. It also contains XML files called deployment descriptors which gives the details of the deployment method. This deployment descriptor will be present in the folder META-INF folder.
So the main difference betwwen the two is that Ear file is having collection of various modules to be deployed on the application server while the WAR file is used to deploy the web applications.
