Different results for table and dimension operator

hi
I am new to Oracle and specially Data Warehousing.
I created a mapping with a target operator Dimension, it does not give the desired result. Then I changed the target operator to a table, which gives the expected result. All others are the same like the join condition etc.
I think there is some problem with the dimension, please, help me finding the problem of the dimension.
Details of the dimension: there are two levels in the dimension. the surrogate key for both the levels is the same (ID) but business keys are different. The business key of the level 1 appears in level 2 and is properly mapped to the same attribute. the surrogate key of both the levels in not mapped to any attributes.
regards
Arif
P.S: I tried to include a screen dump of the mapping here, but not possible.

I used @section and <?fo:page-number?> of <?fo:page-number-citation:xdofo:lastpage-joinseq?> but I still get wrong numbering by group
Group1:- 1 of 6
Group1:- 2 of 6
Group2:- 1 of 6
Group3:- 1 of 6
Group4:- 1 of 6
Group4:- 2 of 6
the syntax <?fo:page-number-citation:xdofo:lastpage-joinseq?> is getting total document pages instead of group pages. Desired output is
Group1:- 1 of 2
Group1:- 2 of 2
Group2:- 1 of 1
Group3:- 1 of 1
Group4:- 1 of 2
Group4:- 2 of 2
Below is my syntax
In Header section <?for-each@section:G_VENDOR?>
<?fo:page-number?> of <?fo:page-number-citation:{generate-id()}?>
In Body
<?start:body?>
<?end body?>
<?split-by-page-break:?>
<?end for-each?><fo:block id="{generate-id()}"/> --this is in form field
Please help.
Thanks,
Venkat

    Hi,
Whenever you have a problem, post a complete test script that people can run to re-create the problem and test their ideas. Include CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements for any or your own tables needed.
Post the results you want from that sample data.
Always say which version of Oracle you're using.

  • Different result in IE and Netscape

    Hi,
I am using JDeveloper 3.2 to create my JSP and BC4J. I deployed them into my web server, but I got different result in IE and Netscape. I amd using web bean method to create my JSP.
When I view my JSP from IE, everything looks as expected. But when I view them from Netscape, some pages did not display correctly.
    1. For the JSTab, the Netscape displays different color(blue) in the help text area, but the IE display gray color.
    2. If I have a table with many columns (e.g.25) to be displayed and my browser is too small to display them all, the Netscape displays JSRowSetBrowser incorrectly. The top right corner, and bottom right corner did not display at the last column side, instead it displaying in the middle of my JSRowSetBrowser. It also suppressed my one button in the same page. IE displays them all properly.
How do I fix this problem? Please help.
I am using webapp/cabo/images/cabo_styles.css as my style sheet.

I'm not an expert on Netscape, but I would guess that you're problems are simply caused by the differences between IE and NS.
It is very difficult to write (functional) JS code that works perfectly between the two of them and I bet that JSTab isn't written in such a way.
You may want to try using your own tab object, we do this by creating a page for each tab and making the actual tabs be links to each page. This avoids the use of JavaScript.
    Good Luck!!!

  • Setting mail with Cox (or other services with different servers for pop and smtp)

My Cox mail account uses different servers for pop and smtp (my personal ISP 1&1 does too).
The mail applet on my Blackberry Curve 8330 with Verizon does not allow to define different servers for pop and smtp, and further, for SSL smtp mail, the port is fixed at 995 and cannot be changed, while Cox (and 1&1) want to use 587 or something like that.
As a result, I can only receive mail with these services.
I also have yahoo mail, which works fine, so I can send mail with it and it is not a life-and-death situation, but I would like to be able to just reply to email sent to my Cox address.
I called Verizon and they said BlackBerry provides the mail access through their servers and the applet, so there is nothing they can do.
Is there a way to set it such that I can not only receive but also send mail through either of these services?
    Thanks in advance,
    Didier
PS: Other than that, the Curve on Verizon rocks!!! so much better down here than AT&T it's not even funny.

OK, thank you for the input.
The problem I have with this solution is like the one I have now using yahoo.
    There are 2 problems:
    1) mailing lists want the mail to come from the account that is subscribed, so if the cox account is subscribed, I can't contribute from the blackberry, and if the blackberry account is subscribed, I don't get my mail in Outlook. Neither is good for me.
    2) people who send me mail to the Cox account and get replies from me from the blackberry continue responding to the account that can send from the blackberry (not Cox), and from that point on I do not have that mail on the computer.
The issue of having two copies is no big deal, I just delete the mail I do not need. I would rather have two than none.
Really, Blackberry should modify the email service so that they directly support mail systems like those of Cox and 1&1. I am sure there are others. They should also allow the use of another port for SSL than 995. I have not seen anyone using 995 for SSL.
Until recently, I had a BB provided by my employer, and we had a BES, and that worked really well. I would like to emulate as much of that functionality as possible without having to pay somebody another $10 or $20 a month just for the priviledge of having an account on a private BES server.
Anyway, thanks for the exchange and suggestions.

  • Fact Table and Dimension Tables

Hi Experts, I'm creating custom InfoCubes for data coming from non-SAP source systems. I have two InfoCubes. Tha data is coming from like 10 tables. I have 10 DataSources created fo this and the data will be consolidated in Standard DSO before it will flow into 2 InfoCubes.
Now client wants to know before how much data will be there in InfoCubes in Fact table nad Dimension tables in both the InfoCubes. I have the total size of all the 10 tables from the sources given to me by the DBA. I wan not sure how I can convert that info for Fact table and Dimension table as I have not yet created these Infocubes.
Please help me with this on how I should address this.

    hi,
The exact data will be hard to give however you can reach at a round figure in your case.
You are consolidating the data from the tables that means that there is relation between the tables. Arrive at a rough figure based on the relation and the activity you are performing while consolidating the data of the tables.
For example, let us say we want to combine data for sales order and deliveries in a DSO.
Let Sales order has 1000 records and Delivery has 2000 records. Both the tables have a common link (Sales Order). In DSO you are combining the data that means the data will be at the most granular level consist of Delivery data, so the maximum no of records which the consolidated DSO can have is 2000.

    Arvind.

  • Join multiple fact tables and dimensions and use all tables in report issue

    Hi,
I have a report requirements and need to use multiple fact tables and unconformed dimensions as described below
    Fact table: F1,F2,F3
    Dimensions tables: D1.....D9
    F1:(joined to) D1,D2,D3,D4
    F2::(joined to)D1,D2,D5,D6
    F3::(joined to)D1,D2,D7,D8
    D7::(joined to)D9,D8 (dimension D7 joined to two other dimensions D9 and D8
I'm trying to use columns from almost all the fact and dimension tables but getting "Unable to navigate requested expression. Please fix the metadata consistency warnings."
Repository is consistent and no errors and warnings.
How can I configure the repository to develop reports using all fact tables and dimensions?
    Appreciate for your help.
    Thanks

So you want me to convert snowflake schema to star. does it solve my problem? individual star queries are working find but when I query multiple stars together getting inconsistency errors. I removed content tables dim level totals for unconformed dimensions in logical fact LTS and set level for measures at total level for unconformed dimensions. it is still in progress and need to test.
    Thanks

  • Reg: Fact table and Dimension table in Data Warehousing -

    Hi Experts,
I'm not exactly getting the difference between the criteria which decide how to create a Fact table and Dimension table.
    This link http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9362854/database-fact-table-and-dimension-table states :
Fact table contains data that can be aggregate.
Measures are aggregated data expressions (e. Sum of costs, Count of calls, ...)
Dimension contains data that is use to generate groups and filters.
This's fine but how does one decide which columns to consider for Fact table and which columns for Dimension table?
    Any help is much appreciated.
Pardon me if this's not the correct place for this question. My first question in the new forum.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Ranit Biswas

    ranitB wrote:
But my main doubt was - what is the criteria to differentiate between columns for Fact tables and Dimension tables? How can one decide upon the design?
Columns of a fact table will often be 'scalar' attributes of the 'fact' data item. A dimension table will often be 'compound' attributes of a 'fact'.
Consider employee information. The EMPLOYEE table can be a fact table. It might have scalar attribute columns such as: DATE_HIRED, STATUS, EMPLOYEE_ID, and so on.
Other related information that can't be specified as a single attribute value would often be stored in a 'dimension' table: ADDRESS, PHONE_NUMBER.
Each address requires several columns to define it: ADDRESS1, ADDRESS2, CITY, STATE, ZIP, COUNTRY. And an employee might have several addresses: WORK_ADDRESS, HOME_ADDRESS. That address info would be stored in a 'dimension' table and only the primary key value of the address record would be stored in the EMPLOYEE 'fact' table.
Same with PHONE_NUMBER. Several columns are required to define a phone number and each employee might have several of them. The dimension tables are used to help 'normalize' the data in the employee 'fact' table.
And that EMPLOYEE table might also be a DIMENSION table for other FACT tables. A DEVELOPER table might have an EMPLOYEE_ID column with a value that points to a 'dimension' row in the EMPLOYEE dimension table.

  • Import dumpfile with seperate tablespaces for table and index

    Hi,
We have a schema for which the its tables are stored in seperate tablespace and indexes are stored in different tablespace. Now we have take full schema export. Now we want to import it on another schema. Now I want to know if the we have difference in the tablespace name we use REMAP_TABLESPACE clause of the impdp command but what about the seperate tablespace for table and indexes. How would Oracle handle this.
    Regards,
    Abbasi

    Hi,
I hope you created the same tablespace structure on the target side if not so remap_tablespace option you have to use for specifying different tablespaces.Oracle will take care of putting data and index.Any how if a index is moved from one tablespace to other you have to rebuild them, once you rebuild them than only stattistics are gathered otherwise you
    might face some performance issue.
Better option is to keep same tablespace structures in source and target environment.

  • Alias for table and colum names?

    Hi there,
is there a new to create a alias for table and colum names? If so, how can I do this?
    Thanks,
    Andre

I'm not sure why you want them changed. The Oracle database by default is case insensitive, which in essence means it converts everything to upper case when a case is not specified (which can be done by wrapping it in quotes). Unfortunately, Java strings are case sensitive. This means that if you try searching resultsets for "TableName" when the database driver is returning "TABLENAME", you will run into problems. It is probably better to have your project match your database as closely as possible to avoid any issues later on.
That said, I don't know of a way to automatically have the workbench use mixed case names - it uses the strings as they are returned from the database. I believe you will need to manually change the table names if you want them to be different than what you have imported.

  • Fact table and dimension table

what is the difference b/w fact table and dimension table

A fact table contains numeric values and also contain composite key(i.e collection of foreign key) e.g.. sales and profit. Typically has two types of columns: those that contain facts and those that are foreign keys to dimension  tables.
Dimension tables, also known as lookup or reference tables, contain the relatively static data in the warehouse. It contains character values E.g Customer_name,Customer_city.
Dimension tables store the information you normally use to contain queries. Dimension tables are usually textual and descriptive and you can use them as the row headers of the result set.

  • To find the size of the fact table and dimension table

    Hi experts,
Can anyone plz tell me if i want to find size of the fact table and size of the dimension table to find cardinality and line item do we first build statistics then find size by transaction DB02 or any other method we have?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi ,
Please go to Tcode DB02 >Space>Table and Indexes.Give your table name or pattern (like /BIC/F* for gettinf all the Fact tables)
.This will give you sizes of all the table.
Also if you want to get list like TOP 30 Fact tables and Dimension Table. Please use TCode ST14, this will give a desired output with all the required details.

  • Oracle Data Compression on SID tables and Dimension Tables

    Hello Community,
We have had great success with Oracle compression on ODS tables that are no longer loaded.
We'd now like to move on to other types of BW tables that are very large.
OSS Note 701235 provides answers to questions concerning the possible use of Oracle compression together with SAP BW.
But the Note does not give suggestions for (or against) Oracle compression on SID tables or Dimension tables.
I believe both table types would exhibit the same behaviour : mostly inserts of new SID IDs and new DIM IDs, but few updates to existing SID or Dimension records.  If this is true, then both are good candidates for oracle compression.
Do you also agree that this is the typical behaviour for SID tables and dimension tables ?  And that these types of tables are good candidates for Oracle compression in a large BW system ?
    Thanks kindly!
    Keith Helfrich

    Hi all,
Although this is an old thread I stumbled on during my own investigations I can provide some answers to your questions.
Table candidates for compression are found by these criteria
           - Table size big enough?
           - Long lifetime of object planned ?
          - No or only rare structural changes for the table   ?
          - u201EUpdateu201C rate low : is your data mostly kind of u201Cread onlyu201D ?
--               for the wideley used rolling window partition techniques of
tables in BW this is not a problem: mostly INSERTu2019s in the
current partition not affecting other partitions
BW tables that can benefit from compression (see SAP notes 105047,701235)
           - PSA tables with data that must be saved for a longer time
           - ODS change log (no Updates of old data, only Inserts of new data)
           - u201Ehistoricalu201C cubes wich get no changes in table structure anymore
    Limitations
             - normal Insert or Update statements are stored ALWAYS in uncompressed
format and must be compressed separately ( <= Oracle10g )
             - Slight CPU overhead of compression, butu2026
--      CPU consumption is more than compensated by doing less I/O as
for Bulk loads or parallel processing
--      SAP BW transformations took a significant amount of CPU for
overall load-time into cubes caused by the application server not
                       the database
              - Table must have not more than 255 fields
              - Adding columns with an initial value or dropping columns require
uncompression of the complete table (strongest limitation)
Consider all this above and you can decide that tables that going through UPDATE's are
not good candidates for compression or tables that can change it's structure (like
    Fact- or DIM tables) .
    Now, my questions to you:
Wich Oracle version do you use?
Wich tool do you use for  Oracle compression?
BRspace (can you give an example ?)
    ALTER ... MOVE COMPRESS
    bye
