Different Results from SQL-Query in Oracle 10.2 and  Oracle 11.2

Look at the following example:
CREATE TABLE GZP_PLAN (GZP_ID
NUMBER(9) NOT NULL, PARENT_GZP_ID NUMBER(9),
CONSTRAINT GZP_PLAN_PK1 PRIMARY KEY(GZP_ID)
USING INDEX
TABLESPACE USERS
TABLESPACE USERS;
insert into GZP_PLAN values(1,NULL);
CREATE TABLE GZP_WB (OBJECTID NUMBER
NOT NULL, GZP_ID NUMBER(10),
CONSTRAINT GZP_WB_PK1_1 PRIMARY KEY(OBJECTID)
USING INDEX
TABLESPACE USERS
TABLESPACE USERS;
insert into GZP_WB values(1,1);
CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW VW_GZP (GZP_ID1) AS
SELECT xxx.gzp_id
FROM gzp_plan xxx
WHERE gzp_id IN (
SELECT MAX (z.gzp_id) zzz
FROM gzp_plan z
START WITH z.gzp_id = xxx.gzp_id
CONNECT BY PRIOR gzp_id = parent_gzp_id);
-- query
select a.* from GZP_WB a where gzp_id in (select gzp_id1 from vw_gzp);
Result in Oracle 10.2. (Windows Server 2003 32-bit, Oracle 10.2.0.2 or Oracle 10.2.0.5, Enterprise Edition)
OBJECTID     GZP_ID
*1 1*
Result in Oracle 11.2 (Windows Server 2008 64-bit, Oralcle 11.2.0.2, Enterprise Edition or Standard Edition One)
no rows selected
The result of the following queries are identical in Oracle 10.2 and 11.2
SQL> select * from GZP_WB where to_char(gzp_id) in
2 (select to_char(gzp_id1) from vw_gzp);
OBJECTID GZP_ID
1 1
SQL>
SQL> select a.* from GZP_WB a, vw_gzp b where a.gzp_id=b.gzp_id1;
OBJECTID GZP_ID
1 1

The solution is Oracle 11.2.0.3 - patchset released 11th November.

    sharathkv,
    Your issue seems to be in figuring out an algorithm to convert row-based SQL resultsets to a hierarchical data structure suitable for display in a tree.
    Run the jython (www.jython.org) app below: it simulates doing just that. jython is indentation-sensitive, so you'll need to exercise care when copying. If copy-paste to a text editor doesn't work, copy-paste to a HTML-aware editor (even Outlook Express, if on Windows), then copy from there and paste in a text editor.

    The code above has unblanaced parentheses. If you are getting anything other than an error message, then I don't believe you are really running what you posted.
    Whenever you have a problem, post a complete test script that people can use to recreate the problem and test their ideas.
    Please do that. Post CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements to crate the sample data, the code you used to create the carachr2_ntt type and the function, and your best attempt at a query (formatted). Simplify as much as possible. For example, do you really need 3 tables to illustrate the problem? For purposes of asking a question on this forum, can't you pretend you have just one table, with 2 columns?
    I suspect the problem has to do with the user-defined type and function, which you didn't post. I can't even see how you called the function in your query. Without the information I mentioned above, there's not much I can do to help you.

  • Can we use Result from another query in Webi using Bex uery universe?

    Hi,
    Can we use Result from another query filter option in Webi to create a report using a Bex Query universe?
    I need to create a report using two universes, one is Bex Query Universe and the other is Orcle universe. I have two queries, one is using Oracle universe; the other using Bex Query universe. I need to pass the Oracle data from the Oracle query to the Bex Query query to get the matched data from SAP Bex query.
    I used Result from another query in the query filter panel for the query using Bex query universe. But I got an error saying that 'A filter contains a wrong value. you cannot run this query. (Error: WIS 00007). The data used in the filter on both sides are the same. they are char.
    I have tested by using two queries from the same Bex query universe to see if the Result from another query filter option works. And I got the same error.
    Has anyone run into the same issue and if this is possible and what should be the solution?
    Thanks in advance!

    In that situation:
    Create two queries : Oracle and BW query.
    @ Report:
    As you have to see result set from both the Dataproviders, correct? To achieve thise one must have common dimension objects to merge them at report and use Objects those are coming from both queries to use them in single Table/Report.
    Unless you don't use Merge Dimensions, you don't get a chane to use both queries objects in single Table/Report. (It will give tooltip saying: You can't drop here -- Incompatable Objects)
    In case, if you don't have common dimensions, change object definitions to Detail objects, for those required.
    Hope it helps you.
    Thank You!!

  • Different results from all_objects

    Can someone please explain me,
    How it is possible to get different results from "all_objects", once I query it from "SQL Worksheet" and next time when I execute the procedure with the same query ?
    The procedure is created by schema user (owner) and it's executed by it.
    Same as the query.
    I am querying for objects which belongs to other owners.
    Is there a way how to trace which privileges are used for querying the "all_objects" ?
    Any hint will be very welcomed ?

  • Query based Report (Reports From SQL Query)

    Hi All,
    I am facing a problem with a report. I need your help.
    I am creating a Report From SQL Query (Portal) with some arguments passed at runtime. I am able to view the output, if the query returns few rows ( arount 1000 rows). But for some inputs it needs to generate >15000 records, at this point the page is getting time out (i think!) and showing error page. I am able to execute query from the SQL Plus console ot using TOAD editor. Here the query is not taking more that 2 mins time to show the result.
    If i am executing from Portal i observed that, once i give the appropriate input and hit submit button a new oracle process is getting created for the query on UNIX (I am usign "TOP" command to check processes). The browser page will be shown error page after 5 minutes (i am assuming session time out!) , but on the backend the process will be executed for more than 30 mins.
    Can i increase a timeout of portal page, how i can do this?
    The data returned as a result of the query is sized more than 10 MB. Is caching this much data is possible by the browser page? is the returned data is creating any problem here.
    Please help me to find appropriate reasone for the failure?

    Can you post the URL that is giving you the page not found error ? I am not sure if I can be of much help though.
    In order to increase your chances to get a reply you should also post your question in the Portal Forum - Oracle Application Server Portal

    There could be a variety of reasons for the delayed processing of this report. That includes parameter settings for that page, cache settings, network configurations, etc.
    - explore best optimization for your query;
    - evaluate portal for best performance configuration; you may follow this note (Doc ID: *438794.1* ) for ideas;
    - third: for that particular page carrying that report, you can use caching wisely. browser cache is neither decent for large files, nor practical. instead, explore the page cache settings that portal provides.
    - also look for various log files (application.log and apache logs) if you are getting any warnings reflecting on some kind of processing halt.
    - and last but not the least: if you happen to bring up a portal report with more than 10000 rows for display then think about the usage of the report. Evaluate whether that report is good/useful for anything?

    I have some Reports from SQL Query. In the display options, I choose Excel as default format. The Excel documents only show the first page. If I choose HTML as default format, it shows every rows.
    Please advise on how to have a complete Excel document as HTML format does.
    Thanks a lot.

    I beleive when you export Oracle reports to Excel it is the Data that is transferred along with Column Names.
    You cannot export the variables defined on the report.
    Hence you will not be able to export the Footer to excel. (Still looking into it will let you know if i find anything interesting)

    (for example p_date1 = 23-MAR-2003 p_date2 = 26-APR-2003) in english mode portlet is return correct result,
    in turkish mode 'No Row Returned'. I changed my sql statement with
    "select column1, column2
    from myschema.tablename
    where to_date(mydate,'dd/mm/yyy') > to_date(:p_date1,'dd/mm/yyy') and to_date(mydate) < to_date(:p_date2,'dd/mm/yyyy')"
    and I pass p_date parameters 'dd/mm/yyyy' format (for example p_date1 = 23/03/2003 p_date2 = 26/04/2003)
    but now turkish and english mode No row returned.
    How may I write correct sql statament. My database NLS_DATE_FORMAT=DD/MM/YYYY and NLS_LANGUAGE=TURKISH.
    thanks.

    Hi,
    Try this for turkish mode:
    Case 1: the 'mydate' column has a kind of a char data type (like char, varchar or varchar2)
    and a value like '30/03/2003'
    "select column1, column2
    from myschema.tablename
    where
    to_date(mydate,'DD/MM/YYYY') > :p_date1
    and
    to_date(mydate,'DD/MM/YYYY') < :p_date2"
    Case 2: the mydate column has a date type:
    "select column1, column2
    from myschema.tablename
    where
    mydate > :p_date1
    and
    mydate < :p_date2"
    In both cases use the following parameter values:
    p_date1 = 23/03/2003
    p_date2 = 26/04/2003
    This should work
    Thanks

  • How-To populate SELECT LIST default value from SQL Query

    OK, I've done my homework, and did not find my answer in the Forum, so here it is.
    I have a Page that displays fields from a SQL Query. The Page also has below that radiogroups, checkboxes, and Select Lists to allow the user to change values in the fields that are displayed at the top of the Region. I am able to pre-populate the radiogroups and checkboxes by performing a SELECT in the 'Source value or expression' of the Source area of the Page Item.
    However, I am unable to do the same for the Select List fields. Their default value ends up being the first value in the LOV ('-- None --' for NULL values). Source Used: Only when current value in session state is null. Source Type: SQL Query. Also, when I first go into the Page when running it, and check the Session State values, they are all null, so I don't understand why the field is not populated by the SQL Query statement as the radiogroups and checkboxes are.
    Any suggestions??? I've tried all sorts of combinations.

    Thank you for the suggestion.
    I had considered that, but cannot do so, because we are using Oracle Application Express more for development than for data containment.
    We have all our data in an Oracle 10.g DB which is separate from the OAEX server, and the OAEX app will reference that data via VIEWs and DB LINKs. We are doing so primarily as an added data security layer, where the data is housed separate from the app, in case the Web site is ever compromised. The data that can be viewed is restricted to a subset of the actual data that is available.
    Since the data is on a separate server, (I assume) we will not be able to set the source type to Database column, because (I asume) that is dependent upon the data being housed by the OAEX server.
    That still leaves me with having to populate the field with a SELECT statement from the Oracle DB. This unfortuneately is almost a show-stopper for me because of down-stream processing data requirements. Have not been able to come up with contingencies yet.

  • Calling the function from SQL query

    Hi,
    I am trying to run the below statement,
    Select to_number(apps.pay_balance_pkg.get_value( 326, :paa.assignment_action_id,to_date ('31032011','ddmmyyyy'))) from dual;
    getting an error as :
    ORA-14552 cannot perform a DDL, commit or rollback inside a query or DML
    ORA - 06512 at apps.pay_balance_pkg , line 4526.
    How can I execute this funciton "apps.pay_balance_pkg.get_value" from sql query?
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks in advance.If the function is performing DDL, commit or rollback inside it then you will not be able to call it from an SQL statement.
    Either change the function so it doesn't perform DDL, commit or rollback, or use a different means to obtain the information you want (assuming you can't change the function)

  • Combine query, result from another query on SAP BI query Universe?

    Hello all,
    We are using SAP BI queries as datasource for our universes. Is the combined query option disabled for webi reports written on such universes?
    result from another query - is this option active for such webi reports? I see both these options greyed out so wanted to check.
    One last thing what is really difference between subquery and results from another query? subquery - you can use filters from that one data provider only right? or can you use a different data provider/report in sub query?
    Thanks a lot for all the replies.

    Hi,
    in BO 3.1 Combined query and result from another query options are not available in webi report on OLAP Universes  (SAP BW Universe.)
    Thanks,
    Amit
