Different soap request in 9.2.0.4 linux and windows for same webservice

hi,
i deployed a webservice on iis5 (dotnet 1.1). the client for this web service is written in java and is loaded into oracle db (9.2.0.4 linux). and there are errors. the same java code is working fine on 9.2.0.4 windows.
description of the error:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<SOAP-ENV:Envelope xmlns:SOAP-ENV="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
<SOAP-ENV:Body>
<ns1:MethodName xmlns:ns1=http://tempuri.org/Service/message/ SOAP-ENV:encodingStyle="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/">
<SomeString xsi:type="xsd:string" xsi:nil="true" />
<ErrorDes xsi:type="xsd:string" xsi:nil="true" />
</ns1:MethodName>
</SOAP-ENV:Body>
</SOAP-ENV:Envelope>
there are problems with the 'SomeString' and 'ErrorDes' elements. there is an attribute xsi:nil="true". in the working requests this isn't present. the result of this, if for example DName isn't assigned a value this element isn't in the resulting response:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
<soap:Envelope xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:soapenc="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/" xmlns:tns=http://tempuri.org/ xmlns:types="http://tempuri.org/encodedTypes" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
<soap:Body soap:encodingStyle="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/">
<q1:MethodNameResponse xmlns:q1=http://tempuri.org/Service/message/>
<Result xsi:type="xsd:int">0</Result>
<ErrorDes xsi:type="xsd:string">string</ErrorDes>
</q1:MethodNameResponse>
</soap:Body>
</soap:Envelope>
what can cause this behaviour? is there a way to prevent sending the xsi:nil attribute?
thanks
ralf

This is just one of the web service interop problems you can face. Both omitting the accessor with the NULL value as in your "working request" and placing xsi:nil attribute with the value "true" as in "not working request" are valid in soap messages. The problem happens when either the soap client or soap server/container does not fully support the soap spec or support with wrong interpretations. Most of the toolkit are not sophisticated enough to let you choose one of two options above.
Maybe you might want to consider not allowing non-null values so that you can get around with the interop problem, and add logic in the client and service implementation to handle special cases for default values indicating null.
Below is FYI.
SOAP 1.1 spec says the following.
"A NULL value or a default value MAY be represented by omission of the accessor element. A NULL value MAY also be indicated by an accessor element containing the attribute xsi:null with value '1' or possibly other application-dependent attributes and values."
On the other hand, there is no "null" attribute in http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance namespace referenced by xsi in your soap messages, and xsi:nil is the valid attribute name.

  • Different stringWidth between Linux and Windows

    When I use Ms Windows Arial Font in my Java Program running on Linux
    I found out the rendering result of the Font is different with same program running on Windows
    The Arial Font in Linux become wider, and this cause problem because i used absoule position.
    I am using Java 1.3.1, How can solve this problem??

    The Arial under Linux and Windows are not the same. Firts, they may be different font files, second, both systems uses different rendering engines to draw them. Also, some systems, as mine, won't have Arial font at all - substitute font will be used then. So, I would expect, you will have similar problems with any other font, any other operating system or even in some specific locales which uses reversed (right-to-left) line ordering. You will also be not able to do internationalization properly.
    Simply your application is not portable and written with breaking may portability rules. I hope, you are not doing it for money. The layout managers is the only existing aswer to your problem. The closest to absolute is a SpringLayout introduced in 1.4.x.
    The absolute location problem is not a bad thing in Java only - it can screw C, VisualC and CBuilder applications. Take some of them and tweek your system settings - use large fonts for buttons, tiny fonts for menu, change whatever OS provides you to be able to change in L&F and look what will happen with some of those applications. I would be really happy to have layout managers in CBuilder.

  • Font differs from Linux and Windows ?

    Hi, i just want to ask, are fonts different from windows and linux in applet. I use a standard courier font.
    For example, if i make an applet with courier font texts in linux, and make the texts wrap themselves, they will run ok in linux. But if i run the compiled applet in windows, the wrapped text somewhow got truncated.
    But if i compile the applet in windows, it will look ok in linux and windows.
    I've tried replacing my courier fonts in my /usr/java/jdk/jre/lib/fonts/cour*.ttf with the cour*.ttf from c:\windows\fonts with no effects .. Applets compiled and run ok in linux doesnt work in windows. They must be compiled in windows to run ok in both.
    Why is that ?
    Does the compilation use the fonts in the jdk lib or the system fonts ?
    I'm so confused T_T
    Please Help

    How do I get Mac OS 10.4.4 and Word X for Mac to see
    all the characters in the Word for PC document
    formatted in Times New Roman?
    There's no way with Office X, which can't do Unicode Greek. You need to upgrade to Office 2004 which is Unicode-savvy and installs in your Mac the same Times New Roman with Greek, Cyrillic, Hebrew, and Arabic which is used by WinXP. An alternative might be AbiWord or NeoOffice/J.

  • Different Pricing Schema in PO and PIR for same vendor and material

    Dear Experts,
    I am facing an issue related to MM.
    I have a vendor and a material under a plant, purchase Org, purchase group.
    When we are creating a Purchase Info Record (PIR), it is picking one pricing schema, while when creating PO for same vendor and material, it is picking another different pricing schema.
    As per my knowledge, pricing schema in PO is picked as per pricing schema group of Vendor and I believe same applies for PIR as well. I have only one vendor pricing schema group.
    Because of this issue, I have to manually key-in condition values in PO for all condition types even though I have maintained a purchase info record.
    Please suggest, what can be reason.
    Regards,
    Praveen

    Hi,
    Thanks for clearing my doubts.
    However, I stuck-up in another issue.
    Problem is that condition type- PB00 is linked with almost all pricing schemas.
    Hence, I can't change pricing procedure  in condition type- PB00.
    Also, I can't include all J* related condition types in RM0002 as well.
    Hence, if PB00 remains as RM0002 and I maintain my pricing procedure- ZJIMPO to all J* condition types, still I am not able to create PIR for all J* conditions. Error "Condition type J1CV is not in procedure A M RM0002".
    How to handle this issue? Please suggest.
    Thanks
    Praveen

  • Is it possible to have different rendering for RI and Myfaces for same code

    Iam facing with a peculiar problem. I developed custom component using JSF technology. There is a different rendering when I used RI and Myfaces for the same code base. How to overcome such a problem. Please reply.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi, it is normal, the rendered classes for the standard component have been implemented differently, so you have some differences. Normally, they should follow the SUN requirement but every one can code that following its own interpretation.
    Your component is based on which standard component?

  • MySQL TinyInts: Different in Linux and Windows?

    Hi all,
    A friend of mine has used MySQL 4.1, Creator 2.1 and MySQL Connector/J (3.1.8) to build a web application in a Windows environment.
    I am trying to open it on my Linux box but I get a ClassCastException while opening his web pages into my Creator.
    We have been tracking down the problem and it seems that Creator 2.1/Linux thinks that TINYINT(1) is of type Integer. On the other hand Creator 2.1/Windows maps TINYINT(1) to Boolean.
    We have tried out all possible combinations (Creator-Linux -> MySQL-Windows, Creator-Linux->MySQL-Linux, even tried out different JDBC driver versions) and it seems the problem is somewhere within Creator.
    Any ideas? Has anybody experienced this problem?
    Thanks,
    Antonio

    By the way. NetBeans 5.0 behaves different to Creator:
    NetBeans 5.0:
    jdbc:mysql://localhost/MYDB?tinyInt1IsBit=true
    -> TINYINT(1) -> BIT
    jdbc:mysql://localhost/MYDB?tinyInt1IsBit=true
    -> TINYINT(1) -> TINYINT
    Creator 2.1:
    jdbc:mysql://localhost/MYDB?tinyInt1IsBit=true
    -> TINYINT(1) -> TINYINT
    jdbc:mysql://localhost/MYDB?tinyInt1IsBit=true
    -> TINYINT(1) -> TINYINT
    As far as I understand, Creator 2.1 is not processing the connection metadata correctly. Is this a bug? Is there a fix for this?

  • Differing behavior loading external swfs between Linux and Windows

    I have a swf that loads several different swfs that implement the same basic class, some of these external
    swfs also import different resources from library swfs, such as font, video, and graphic assets.
    This seems to work perfectly well on both windows and Linux with using the font and graphic assets in
    the flash player (debug v 10r32), everything works as I'd expect.  I am added everything into the main swf's
    appdomain when using the loader (with loadercontext, etc).
    When I am loading the video asset class in the external swfs, it works fine on both systems for the first swf
    loaded that uses the video class.  On windows, whenever the second swf using the video library loads up, it
    gives a #1065 Reference error pointing to one of the variables used in the video asset swf.  It runs fine on Linux.
    I've tried playing around with the different AppDomain settings to no avail.  I am stumped as to why it would
    function perfectly well in Linux, but fail on Windows.  Any pointers as to where to look next?
    Thanks for any and all help,
    RP.

    In this case, it appears to be differing versions of the flexsdk that was being used to compile the application.
    Windows was using the default tarball from the adobe site,
    Linux was using a more up to date version from svn.
    I updated the svn snapshot, recompiled, set the Windows box to use it, and the error messages have disappeared.
    I can still crash the flashplayer doing other things, but it's more or less working exactly as expected now.
    RP.

    Hi yashajmera,
    Same script gets different results ,just as Greg said this may be related to the different rendering pages methods between different Internet Explorer versions.

  • Why are Linux and Windows UI different?

    On Windows, appmenu button is orange and it's always at titlebar (saving a good space). On Linux, it appears gray and it's not at titlebar.
    Button icons are different also. Why?
    I think if there weren't that UI differences, addons should work on all platforms without drastic changes.

    @budchekov - You can use "Hide Caption", seach for it here: http://addons.mozilla.org/
    @topic
    If is impossible to put button and tabs at KDE/Gnome title bar (I think it's possible, because they have successfully put them at Windows XP), they can simulate a title bar like Chromium.
    I really don't know why Mozilla is purposely making that differences.

  • Different exchange rate in tables FMIOI and FMIFIIT for same purchase order

    Hello,
    I'm working in ECC 6 system with Former budget. My company code is in EUR currency.
    I create a purchase order in 100 GBP and the exchange rate entered in the purchase order is 0,83 GBP for 1 EUR (100 GBP = 120,48 EUR).
    When I create an invoice linked to the purchase order, the exchange rate is 0,85 GBP for 1 EUR (100 GBP = 117,65 EUR).
    in the table FMIFIIT, the amount for the invoice is 117,65 EUR.
    and in the table FMIOI, the amount for the reduction of the PO is 120,48 EUR.
    Why is the reduction of the purchase order taking the exchange rate from the PO? and not from the exchange rate of the invoice?
    Normally, the reduction of the PO should have the same amount as the invoice.
    Could someone help me about this?
    How can I do to correct the amount in EUR for the PO?
    Thanks for your help.
    Regards,
    Chiachen

    Hi,
    Normally, the reduction of the PO should have the same amount as the invoice.
    This is incorrect, please consult note 418914.
    So, the situation you describe is normal behaviour, under assumption that your unit of measure is updated on value-based level.

  • Different DPI in IrfanView and Photoshop for same JPEG file

    Hi everyone,
    I am no Photoshop expert so please excuse me if I am missing something obvious.  I have a JPEG file which shows Resolution=72 DPI in IrfanView (and in other applications such as ImageMagick Identify).  But under Image | Image Size, Photoshop shows Resolution=300 DPI.
    Any comments appreciated.
    Thanks,
    FD98

    Sounds like Photoshop is honoring the metadata and irfanview is not.
    Keep in mind in the image is for screen viewing only such as on the web, the ppi is irrelevant.
    However if this image will be printed then the ppi will determine the print size.

  • Calling SOAP Request from XML Spy

    I have published PLSQL web service at Oracle 10g AS.
    The web service runs at http://localhost:7201/reqProcess with processRequest as method being exposed.
    This web service takes the string as input and return XMLTYPE as out parameter.
    Now When I am trying to pass SOAP XML from XMLSPY to above url I am getting folloing errors.
    1) I get http error: couldnot post the file /reqProcess/ on server 'localhost' (500)
    2) I get SOAP Error as

    Please help..

    Hi Quwang ur help needed
    My requirement ...
    1) PLSQL as web service : I succesffuly deployed PLSQL Procedure as Web service at 10 10g. The PLSQL takes string (CLOB) as input convert that into XML and store in table and return XMLTYPE as output.
    When I am accesing PLSQL WS using browser I am able to send string (basically XML format) as a input and able to receive the result back (SOAP envelop)
    2)WS Invocation : After PLSQL WS published I need to pass the SOAP XML which is generated from XYX wsdl file to the PLSQL WS published above. For this req I was using XML Spy to test this. (In actual the clinet will be Sieble that will send SOAP XML to PLSQL WS).
    Initially I was generating the SOAP XML from XYZ.wsdl and was directly sending that to PLSQL URL. I was getting error as I described initially.
    Next I tried to generate the SOAP request from the PLSQL WS wsdl file and inside the parameter I am sending the SOAP XML as string to the IN paramater of PLSQL WS. This time I am getting some different errors. The first error is same as http error: couldnot post the file /balprocess/balprocess/operation?processRequest on server 'localhost' (500)
    and second error is SOAP fault as follows
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

  • SOAP Request with Web Service Security

    Hi masters of XI,
    the Oasis standard for web services security saids that exists three levels of security for web services, at higher level is Encryption, middle level is signature and at lower level is authentication with username and password inside the soap envelope.
    I need to do a SOAP Request signed with a X.509 certificate and username and password too in SAP PI 7.0 SP11. I can sign the request with X.509 certificate without problems but i can't authenticate the request with username and password in usernametoken element like saids the Oasis standard
    <wsse:Security>
    <wsse:UsernameToken>
    <wsse:Username>XXXX</wsse:Username>
    <wsse:Password>XXXXXXXXX</wsse:Password>
    </wsse:UsernameToken>
    </wsse:Security>
    How can we send UserNameToken's elements inside SOAP web service envelope
    signing with X.509 certificate also? There are any way to do it in the
    receiver agreement or receiver SOAP adapter?
    thanks.

    Hi,
    thank you very much for your answers.
    I have solved the SSL comunication and i can sign with X.509 certificates. My problem is that in the SOAP envelope of resquest signed only travels the X.509 certificate and I need to send the username security token (wsse:UsernameToken) also.
    <wsse:Security>
    <wsse:UsernameToken>
    <wsse:Username>XXXX</wsse:Username>
    <wsse:Password>XXXXXXXXX</wsse:Password>
    </wsse:UsernameToken>
    </wsse:Security>
    I can't find the solution to do it. The Netweaver documentation says that Netweaver is able to sign SOAP request with X.509 certificates and is able too for using UsernameToken as part of Oasis standard for web service security. In abap stack of NW you can assign a security profile to a web service call for signing the message or authenticate it with username/password inside SOAP envelope, but in java stack of XI i think that there is no way to do it.
    This is my Request:
